hey guys iv been doing a lot of google searching aswell as looking through the form and cant find a light weight rom.
i have found light weight roms but there only updated to kitkat and i would prefer to have Lollipop or marshmallow - please can anyone advise??
Im just looking for something with the bare essentials no extras. like literally just google play app and a call, text, music, vids, camera..... pre-rooted would be preferred but not essential
[REASON] my reason for wanting this is because my Xperia Z overheats A LOT (get the over heating warning and device shuts down) and dies fairly quickly.
I play games on my device and when playing games the devices get really hot very quickly and dies very quickly even while the charger is plugged in. so my aim is to find a ROM that has the very minimal stuff on it to try obtain a cooler phone aswell as increasing battery life.
thanks for any input.

Just a heads up. After install I couldnt run any apps or open existing folders. I just chose the reset settings option and it worked after that. I have noticed that the ui is much smoother and so far browsing is much more fluid.
Downloaded 4.1.2 on my TL and it is pretty cool. UI is much snappier and smooth, and the Extended Battery mode option is fantastic - saw that option on some other Sony devices so I'm very happy they updated the TL with it too.
Confusing issue about Google Wallet... has anyone tried using it? Despite being on AT&T (which apparently doesn't "support" Wallet) the Google Play store let me download the app - which initially made me pretty excited - only to be slammed with a pop up as soon as the app starts claiming my device and/or service provider is not supported. Previously the app did not show up in Google Play (most apps that are not "compatible" with the device you are using will not show up), but when I noticed a few extra features in the settings -> more under NFC for Wallet, I figured then Google Wallet was compatible lol.
I think its one of the worst updates (Not talking about JB) in all the phones I owned. So I upgraded my wife's TL... Browser Does not work. (Does Not even open), Rainbows on Screen on and off.. While playing youtube and one time while pulling down notification tray. Lock Screen disappeared.. Did the settings reset.. Same thing nothing changed. Now I may have to factory Reset and Install all over. They should have tested more before they released as we waited all these days.

It's not sony's fault. If the lockscreen does not work or even the webrowser then something is wrong with your phone, I updated my device and now I have not lag and there's no bugs.

No burst mode, but it does have HDR capability now at the cost of 1MP (12MP vs. 13MP) not exactly earth shattering. My wifi connection appears to be much more stable, with animation scale set to 0 the ui cranks along at breakneck pace, the browser quick commands wheel in the labs section of the settings is much more responsive and better organized, and I am finding the keyboard response a little more fluid. The only negative I have so far is that the com.sonyericsson.unplugcharger line is no longer disablable... Able to be disabled... Disenablable... Ah whatever the word is! You cant turn it off so you're left with an "unplug the charger" notification after disconnecting from power. So far though, I feel like I just got a brand new phone.

Same here. PC Companion says "Your phone/tablet is up to date."
update is gone
I tried updating last night and the update was there, but now when I connect my phone is says it is up to date. I couldn't update last night because I couldn't get past the step where PC companion tells you to plug in usb and hold the volume down button. For some reason, my phone would not go past that step and update. I checked my firmware version and it is still ICS. Do you think they took the update down?

Actually, There's no such thing called battery Saver I believe. The battery back up depends on your usage pattern. However you can try this app from Google Play.
It requires root though, many are saying this reduces the background battery consumption of apps by hibernation.
Greenify

+1 for Greenify.
Just a note though, do not go crazy and hibernate absolutely everything like some people in the app thread seem to. Use something like Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector to identify badly behaved apps that hold wakelocks and hibernate them.
Everything else can and will be handled by Android's memory management

Exactly! Knowing about the bad behaved apps is the most important fact. Better Battery Stats can certainly do that. Once you know, you can control the battery issue easily. :good:

Stick as close as possible to stock if you want decent battery life. I've used two custom ROMS on my Z so far but the battery drain was unbearable so I've come back to stock, with about 5 build.prop edits and that's it.

Q&A for [ROM] [4.4.4] ParanoidAndroid 4+
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Feature Support
'Do you plan on adding MHL support for this rom? I use it a lot in Stock, it's the only thing that's pulling me from switching to your rom :fingers-crossed:'
-Nevermind
My bad, hehe it's proprietary so the probability is no anyways just please add a support for the dual mic
Anyways, I've tried to flash it. It works great and very smooth
Mediaserver and Play Music
Hi,
I'm coming from Motorola Atrix and finally decided to get Custom Roms again - thank you for your work! But I think there's something wrong in my settings because my Mediaserver and Google Play Music is draining my battery quite a lot though I'm listening to music only for about 25 minutes (together 16%-pic1). With the original Sony Rom it was only a quarter of the battery usage. If Google Play Music runs longer it needs even more battery than my display (43% - pic2) ... Often Mediaserver and Play Music need about the same percentage. Is there anything I can do to solve this issue? I haven't changed anything about the CPU.

You can use lighting inteliplug kernel or KMA kernel if you use custom ROM( cm, pa..) On stock based custom ROM search on xda because I'm not sure with one is working

Hm, I tried lightning with two different roms (PA and PAC) and it didn't solve the problem... I guess I'll have to try the kma kernel tomorrow or is there something I could try with Kernel Tweaker App? I already lowered the CPU Frequency to max 1242 MHz.

Thanks but that option just isnt there :s

Edit...
Nevermind found the option thanks
And any solution on te contacts app?

What i did is first rename contacts.apk and contactsprovider.apk to .bak and replaced them with similair ones from another rom and set permissions and that did the trick
black screen and no mobile connection
Hi guys
I'm having troubles with PA 4.6 on my Yuga.
On PA 4.6 Beta 4 my screen turns black whenever there's a hover notification or the volume bar poping up. And music and sounds lag (in lack of a better word).
On Beta 5 these problems are gone but i have problems with mobile data connection. Bad signal and mobile data connection comes and goes. 3G at max and no stable connection.
I did full wipes before flashing each version.
I can upload a video if that would help.
I'm from germany, my carrier is Congstar, that's basicaly cheap T-Mobile.
Does anyone else have these problems and can help me?
Thanks and regards

Well me too huhu
How is battery life and smoothness on this rom? How many hours of on screen time do you have?
Hi all,
Since Lollipop update ( 23.1.A.0.690) I'm having big troubles with multitasking.
Everything's working fine except this. I think it's related to Lollipop memory leak but even when I'm switching with a few apps like Chrome, Play Music, Messenger, Snapchat and Tinder (let's say), when I go back to one of those apps, it restart the app so I guess it's both bad for battery life and mainly for performance. It's very slow and I loose a lot of time.
So I'd like to know because I didn't find anything, is it a known issue on this device ? Doest it concern a few people or everybody ?
Is there a fix or another firmware which doesn't have this kind of trouble ?
Thank you for your answer.
PS : btw I thought also that it's because of bad optimization of the apps but still, I didn't have this kind of trouble with a M8, even on Lollipop.
PS2 : When i check memory usage, I have a lot of free RAM.
Bump for this. I have this problem since I purchase the phone (Z3 Compact) and tried really a lot of things (Also I tried to manually edit services.jar to improve adj values) but nothing works. I can have a lot of Ram free but the multitask is still poor and android seems to kill the apps very fast for some reason. I hope someone have a fix or something else to improve at least the multitask.
In Sony LP firmwares there is no "memory leak" bug:

Thanks. But anyway ¿Why the apps get killed so fast? I don't know if it is an issue since kitkat or Sony fault, but I tried as said a lot of things and none works, it seems that multitask is inexistent for a 2GB of Ram device, I remember with my Nexus 7 Tablet in Android 4.3 had a looot of apps opened and no one get killed itself, it was a great multitask experience that I can't get yet in Xperia Z3 Compact. I tried edit minfree values, uninstall apps, change firmwares, edit services.jar, install tweaks, edit my build.prop, etc. Also I noticed with the Task Manager of System Tuner app that "/system/bin/mediaserver" is always eating more than 60mb of Ram, this is since kitkat and continues to happen in Lollipop, after of some hours, this same process can take up to 160mb of RAM!!! The worst thing is that in other devices this process don't seems to take a lot of Ram as in Z3 Compact did. Idk, it would be good that we can improve multitask in this device.

@Sadman Khan Please tell us what's your firmware.
Respect to /system/bin/mediaserver/ ram usage, see how many memory takes in my Z3 Compact compared to a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Idk if it is normal in Xperia or something is triggering mediaserver to take those levels of Ram, the worst is if I leave it without a reboot after a day or two it can take up to ~200 mb of RAM!! . ¿How is the mediaserver ram usage in your devices?
I tried also a lot of thing to try reduce the mediaserver ram usage :/
The first image is from Z3 Compact, the second one from Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

Nope. I'm on this build but I still have the huge memory leak. BTW, I have a clean flash using flash tool.
The problem is not going to be fixed until Android 5.1.1 update that have a looot of Memoty leaks fixed and a better memory managment. The people that say they doesn´t have the problem in Android 5.0.2, is because I think they only multitask between two apps or little apps, so they didn´t notice the problem.
We have to wait then I guess
But all those different feedbacks are weird
I've been noticing memory issues and home redraws the past week myself after finally updating to .726 with a clean install. I was debating updating to .28 since some have reported improved performance, but the reports have been conflicting. I'd rather just stick to .726 and wait for a L.P. 5.1.x version if that's the case.

Good to know. It's actually not so bad for me. There's just the minor delay occasionally when I press the home button and I think I'm receiving delayed Hangouts messages when my phone is asleep for too long, but for the most part performance is snappy, everything runs smoothly and works as it should, and battery life is still well above average.

Hello XDA,
I updated my phone via pc companion and used it well over 1 charge, the radio on bug still exists at least for my z3+ dual and the battery drain I can say is worse than lollipop so far!
I was playing a game "boom beach" while the phone was charging and it actually drained more than what it was charging!
When I plugged it battery was 47% after around 30 minutes of playing battery was in its 20s% that's horrible! And yes using original charger and USB cable I do firmly believe that unoriginal chargers / cables can destroy your battery.....
Please anyone report any issues you face with the new MM here....
I kind of regret upgrading from my beloved z1!

Thank you.☺ I still don't have the update but I'm kind of pretty excited.☺
I agree I updated my 6533 to MM and the battery is draining is killing me. with LOllipop I could leave my phone at 100% before going to bed at 10Pm and wake up with the battery still 100%, Listen to music on my way to work and the battery would still be like 99% at around 9am. with MM I leave it at 100% when sleeping, I switch to airplane mode and when I wake up it's 98 or 97%. I miss Lollipop's stamina mode I could play games and still get through the day without charging.

It doesn't support adaptable SD card, but it supports normal SD card behavior.
In other words yes it supports SD card like it always did

Thanks.... i got MM Android 6.0 update on my Z3+ Dual. So far battery seems to be average but performance is good compared to lollipop.
