I have a lenovo k3 note k50a40(Indian version). I rooted it and changed to cwm recovery. recently there was ota update for android 6.0, obviously the phone was not updated as it was rooted. then what i did was download the zip file of the update and tried to install it through cwm. But the installation aborted stating.." This package is for Lenovo K50-A40, This device is K50-T5". How is this even possible? please help me to revert back.

You should be able to flash an older firmware via SP Flash Tools and Update via OTA afterwards.
And I don't think you can just flash the update.zip with CWM. Stock Recovery should work though.

yes, via cmw you can install ur custom rom, i have done that already. But my main problem and concern is that, my phone is modeled k3 note K50a40, then how in heaven's name did it change to K50-T5. The CMW is refusing to install zip containg K50a40 version of android 6. So i downloaded a zip package of K50-T5 version of android 6. Is there any way I can revert back to K50a40?
Thank you
I have faced the same problem. Though I have checked through several methods and applications and it still shows the phone name as K50a40. Don't know why while installing it says the phone name is K50-T5. Can u please share the link of K50-T5 rom and did it upgrade your phone to Marshmallow.

sorry i couldnot post you the links here, as forums rules of preventing new users of posting links. Here is my mail Id instead

mail me i will post you the links over there.
I also have the same problem. What I could find is we have to flash stock rom using SP Flash Tool, then it will accept OTA updates.

Exactly same happened with me ,while upgrading the phone to marshmallow it said the this phone is K50-t5 and the package is for K50a40. So after lots of trials and downloading many ROMs and loosing so many Gbs of data my problem resolved after I downloaded the ROM in the link I stated and also making the necessary changes in updater script as suggested in the link. I installed the Rom thru CWM recovery though I had to clear data and cache in the process. So please take backup if ur data is important for u. Hope it helps u too .. Happy upgrading

No bro u don't have to install K50-t5 ROM. I installed it on my stock 5.0 lolipop using CWM recovery but i suppose TWRP recovery should also work. U will have to clear data, cache and devlik cache and also don't forget to make changes in the Updater script as mentioned in the link. The process works smooth there after . While installing the ROM no previous error of name change occurred though the system halted here for abt 10 mins and it seemed as if it had hanged but be patient here and it will install the rom in about 15 mins . Hope u get benefited. Please do let me know in case of any assistance. Happy upgrading

Hi
I have ATT galaxy note 3 first time I installed a rom I did it over the stock rom slot, no biggie, to make a long story short last rom I had was alliance last version, didn’t work for me, so I decided to install (FireNoteDeodexV20XGrandFinale)
So I booted into Safestrap 3.75(TWRP v2.7.1.0) by simply restarting my device and got that recovery or continue buttons.
So I did a factory wipe but I also did an advance wipe and checked (system).
After that I went to install and selected the above ROM zip and installed it and after I hit continue at the safestrap screen where it also says disabled it always has. It stays blank.
So I booted up to SS again and now whenever I select factory wipe or system wipe or try to mount I get the same message E:Unable to mount ‘/system’ and E:Unable to mount ‘/systemorig’
And now im stuck with no phone and cant install any ROM
Theres a lot of threads about this but please oh please masters bare with me I just need step by step, what should I do and what files do I need to download.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Are you on Jellybean or Kitkat..this should be in Q&A section. But we will try to get you going

If you have a computer. And a sdcard slot on it download and install a kitkat rom of your choice from the att note 3 rom section. Because you most likely are on the newest bootloader you can't flash jb roms. You have to stick to kitkat roms.

Didnt work tried and it failed.
You should look in the general section for att note 3 and find the Odin files for kitkat and Odin restore your phone. Then start over rooting and installing a custom rom. Probably your best bet.

Hey Xda,
Today I present you a guide on how to
REVERT TO STOCK OR REFLASH firmware on the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE5550KL.
This guide is applicable to both types of users ie who use TWRP and who don't use TWRP.After following this guide your phone will also be unrooted.
For TWRP Users
Here I give you links to two firmwares which you can directly flash via TWRP recovery.
Version:1.13.40.496
Link
Version:1.17.40.1234
Link
For Stock/Non-TWRP Users
The procedure is a little long here ==>
1. Download the official firmware from asus website.
2. Copy the firmware to the Micro-SD and rename the file (firmware) by one more(version). This renaming should be according to your current firmware version. If you have 17.something firmware and you download 16.something firmware then rename the 16.x.x file to some thing like 17.x.x For eg. if you have 1.17.40.763 then rename 16.x.x file to 1.17.40.764.
3. Reboot the phone.Android should automatically find the update file and offer to automatically update the software.Do it !!
4. Go to stock Recovery and wipe cache , dalvik cache and data.
5. Reboot device. Your phone will now be unrooted(if it was rooted before).
DONT FORGET TO PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU.

Before going back to stock and re-rooting to see if the issue was still present, I thought I'd ask if this is something to worry about ? I have the ZE551KL (Z00T) and have been flashing for this device with no problems whatsoever. What is it that I did while unlocking , rooting, and flashing twrp that may explain why the build number and device model don't match? Additionally, at times my PC will recognize my device as a MotoG when my device is connected to the PC via USB . I don't have access to my PC right now so I can't say this with certainty, but I think my PC recognises my device as a MotoG only when the device is in TWRP.. Maybe that means something was done wrong while unlocking the bootloader?

i cant install this rom with twrp 3.0.0.0, already tried cwm recovery 6.0.4.5 but the result is still the same. which recovery do you guys use?

Maybe flashing the factory image with fastboot will solve that partition problem. I used TWRP 3.0.2.0 to flash MIUI7. Don't forget to unmount the /system partition before you flash MIUI in TWRP, because if you leave /system mounted you will get an error. I hope this will help for you. (You can also try to wipe /data, /system, cache and dalvik-cache instead of flashing the factory image and flash MIUI7 with the /system partition umounted. If that doesn't solve your problem I suggest you to start clean with flashing the factory image and try again with my tips. Don't forget to make a backup of your important files because if you use the automatic flash process with the factory image it will wipe your whole internal storage.) Good luck :good:

Probably it is just some problem in the script. Let's see if MIUI will fix this
Btw, I recommended you to use RACER kernel with this rom. It is such a good combo

Same here, the installation eventually finishes after ~15mins but then phone gets stuck at google logo with TWRP claiming no OS is installed. I'm using TWRP 3.0.2.0, tried CWM 6.0.4.5 - same thing happens.

I do also have this error. When I rebooted after the installation. It just worked fine
Probably it is just some problem in the script. Let's see if MIUI will fix this
Btw, I recommended you to use RACER kernel with this rom. It is such a good combo

Youre right i get the no partition error too but if you wait long enough i also get script suceeeded
which is the best kernel for this rom which supports fast charge and good battery life..... pls suggest

read through this page and follow the link to get you back to LP. Follow the instructions and youll be back on LP in no time. But before doing so i would clear all your Cache and dalvik cache before switching back to lp some people fixed the lag issues by doing so. MM has bee a very good build.

If you don't know how to clear cache in recovery mode then I'd steer clear from downgrading since you have no knowledge of the terms used the linked reference on how to downgrade.

Do you have Galaxy app store with game tuner installed? Did you try tinkering with the settings for better performance?

Let me tell you what i understand from the guide.
I am on stock marshmallow and stock recovery.
First i have to root my 6.0.1 with Twrp 3.0.2 with using odin and AP Then i have to Flash DOJC bootloader file via Odin . The next step is to flash the stock DOJC firmware from sammobile using AP?
Am i right . Kindly correct me if i am wrong . Reply will be appreciated.

If you follow the instructions on that thread to a t you will be fine. It sounds like you have it figured out though. Are you familiar with odin?

Yes a little bit. I am just asking for the sequence of flashing the files means which file i have to flash first and then other .
Well you would flash the BL and Modem Files first then the system
Do I flash the stock ROM using Odin or through TWRP?
If you don't have even basic knowledge or interest in it don't mess with your phone.. You will end up breaking it.. :-/..
Lol. Any idea how to downgrade s6 to mm. G920i? I don't wana download the stock 5.1.1. Or erase all data. I have a 5.1.1 custom rom. Can I just flash 5. 1.1 bootloader and modem and flash the custom rom.?
Does it *have* to be the OJC firmware or can it also be OF6?
I'm coming from Verizon where downgrading is generally impossible so many dumb questions
Hey guys,
I am trying to intall a custom rom on my blu vivo xl. My worries are that i either soft-brick the phone or boot the new rom and having no signal due to no imei, or no 4G due to band change if it's even possible. I'll leave you with some reliable data:
-arch64 procesor
-5.1 stock android : BLU_V0030UU_V07_GENERIC 25-01-2016
- 3.10.65+ kernel
- Rooted with kingoroot
- Previously had xposed, but uninstalled due to random reboots.
I was looking to install aospextended rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-xl/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v4-1-t3592932
I'd really appreciate if you could orient me or refer me to a post with instructions, since i didn't find one. It's been some years since i don't do this back to the legendary HTC HD2 and i'm missing it btw
Thanks!
Nacho

Unfortunately most custom ROMs in this forum were based off Gionee so likely you will get no SIM. Use your stock ROM /etc/firmware folder to replace that in ROM.

Thank you for your response.
I've already got twrp installed for 5.1
So i should just install this MM based ROM i said on the post and replace /etc/firmware folder?
Or i need to install stock MM from ota first?
Thing is, i cant OTA update, it says that the system is corrupted, i even tried from twrp but no luck
I've seen that i need stock mm to be able to install most of the custom rom's in xda
Thing is i can't install any OTA update. Should i flash 5.1 stock rom on top of the modified one i'm running?
By modified i am talking about the root and xposed, which is the cause i cant OTA

Follow my steps exactly then you can do OTA to MM.
The key is to use the 8 files backup to restore stock 5.1, not the backup only includes 4 files.

Alright, ill do that. Tried with the 4 files backup last night, didn't work as you just told.
Do you have a link to the 5.1 stock recovery i should flash with sp flash tool? I can't find it anywhere. It wont work if i still have twrp installed, right?
Thanks! i really appreciate it, and great guide btw

I installed the 11 files backup and i still can't get ota. I should install the stock recovery, right? got a link for that?
Thank you in advance!
In my case I have a fully working STOCK but ROOTED Marshmallow Blu Vivo XL with working IMEI, but as soon as I wipe and install say AEX rom, I lose both IMEI functions and also get the dreaded wifi NVRAM error (but working wifi).
I also restored the etc/firmware directory to AEX but it wont help regain IMEI functionality.
MTK Engineering mode does not work on AEX because it complains not being stock rom so it closes.
For the life of me, I can't make a connection to the PC through SP Flash Tool too.
Any pointers?
TIA!

Thanks for the reply Min1968!
Yes, I know how to recover IMEI on the stock ROM and I'm currently running stock MM rooted with working IMEI.
The problem I have is that I can't run custom ROMs even if I try the etc/firmware trick you mentioned.
What is the stock TWRP partition that has the modem and IMEI? Maybe if I flash it back through TWRP once I get AEX rom up and running?
Thanks!
