Just updated to 3.39.531.7. Currently Using kc6wke's ROM with ViperAudio, adaway, and Xposed v80 with AudioPrivacy and YouTube AdAway.
Since I've installed this ROM I've had issues with my WiFi. After a fresh reboot I can get around 15Mbps up and about 10 down. But after the phone is on for a while it drops to below 1Mbps down and about 1 up.
I know its not my AP because in my other hand I have my DROID MAXX I use for work running a speed test to the exact same server at the exact same time. I have a 100down and 15up connection to my house.
Screen shot on the left is from my M9, Right is my DROID.
My WiFi speed is fine on my stock, unrooted M9 TMo variant. I have 100Mbps service at home, and regularly see 85-90Mbps on my WiFi connection.

Would anyone know why the NC won't browse web over wi-fi via Sprint 4G? [Edit to add: This appears to be an Evo-specific issue.] NC over 3G works fine with both Wireless Tether and the Sprint Hotspot feature on the Evo. You would think wi-fi is wi-fi and it wouldn't make any difference whether it was 3G or 4G, but it does--the 4G radio won't let the NC browse web.
It's not just my setup, because I'm aware of at least one other report of this issue--in another forum.
I have tried Nooky Froyo and stock 1.01 and 1.1 NC's I have also eliminated my local Sprint Wimax antenna and environmental RF interference as the cause by trying to browse in more than one location in my city. Also tried more than one NC. I'm running EVO's 3.70.651.1 from December.
Thanks for any pointers.
Works fine for me, but I'm using an Epic, not an Evo. Have you tried using another device to make sure that your 4G connection is actually being shared properly? Keep in mind that you have to enable 4G, then turn on Wifi Tether.

Just tried your order of events. Still fails. It works as soon as you turn the 4G radio off and go back to 3G. I'm aware of one other Evo with the same problem. Your success with another device leads me to believe you're right it's an issue with the way the Evo is handling the requests.
Does anyone know what the difference is between WiMax 4G and EVDO 3g in an IP sense? Where could it hiccup?

Do you mean like a laptop on the same software/hardware wi-fi connection? If so, yes laptops work fine. It's just the Nook Color that doesn't.
Try updating wifi tether to the latest version if you haven't.
3g and 4g uses different IP addresses and interfaces (while 2g and 3g use the same radio interface and IP, which is why you can go back and forth and your file transfers won't get interrupted), this is probably the real cause of your problem. You may have an old version of Wifi Tether that doesn't enable IP masquerade on the 4g interface.
Same problem here. My PC connects fine via WiFi tether on 4G to my EVO and at good speed. My NC stalls when connected to my EVO via wifi tether on 4G. Also speedtest app is slow on dl.
I have the latest version 2.0.6.

I'm running 2.06 which is the latest I believe. This issue also exists using the Evo's Hotspot feature with a paid Sprint account add-on. I'm able to establish now that this is Evo only.
I tested this after reading your post. I am using CM6 w/o WIMAX, so had to nandroid restore Warm. I started 4G, then wireless tether. I tethered the NC to my Evo on 4G for about 15 minutes and it worked fine. Web pages loaded fully. Perhaps this short test is not too helpful, but I get crappy 4G service in my house.
When I was using the VaelPak ROM about a month ago, whenever I used 4G the browser (Dolphin HD and stock) on my phone would only load part of the web pages. This sounds similar to the issue that you are experiencing on the NC. Vael didn't have access to 4G, so couldn't isolate the problem (other VaelPak users had apparently reported similar issues).

Thanks for testing and reporting. 15 minutes is plenty of time for 4G to freeze the browser, so that test indicated a successful session. What is Warm? Is it a ROM? Your second test with VaelPak ROM echos other tests where 4G/NC won't work. The Evo stock ROM doesn't work, for example.
Using Shinzul & Toast's Gingerbread 4g alpha 3 rom for the EVO, I can tether and browse on the Nook over 4g just fine.

Yes, Warm is a popular Sense-based ROM. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471
Just to be clear, I did not test tethering the NC with the VaelPak ROM. I was just noting that I had experiences similar to the one you are describing while using that ROM on my phone -- the browser on my Evo would stop halfway through webpages when using 4G with that ROM.
It seems somewhat logical that the issue is ROM (or kernel?)-related, but it seems odd that you have success tethering everything other than the NC on 4G.
My nc connects perfectly to my evo on 4g using evio 1.8 rom from calkulin. I'm also using wireless tether, but i have had no issues.

Thanks, I can see I am going to have to try a different ROM on the EVO. However, I wonder how the NC treats internet that's different to how a laptop does? Why does everything else browse web OK on all the ROMS but not the NC?

Do you by chance have the AdFree app installed (root only) or a hosts file on your Evo that blocks ads? After trying to use 4G on various ROMs recently, I realized that AdFree was causing my web pages to to load only part way. I looked around the web and found that at least a few people were having similar issues, and they isolated the problem to AdFree. After reverting the hosts file and uninstalling AdFree, my 4G web surfing was noticeably better.
I like not seeing ads, but would rather have a functional 4G. Just thought I would share in case this might be your issue.

No, good guess though.
I have been using Hotspot on my rooted N1 flawlessly for years. However I recently noticed something weird going on. When my Hotspot was not working in the past it was because of network issues in my area. However, now I am noticing that the network is fine and I can browse fine on my phone, but when connecting my laptop to my phone using Hotspot I can not browse at all. I've done speedtest on the phone using speedtest.net mobile app and get great speeds and able to browse on my phone fine. Also It's not my laptop as I am able to browse fine when connected to any other wifi network. Anyone else experiencing issues with Hotspot?
XDA is no longer worth my time.
Yea I think I got throttled for being in top 5% and then some weirdness was going on in my area where my connection kept getting clogged and ATT had to reset my phone but it still seems to be working.
Ok guys, I have been struggling with this issue for some months now, and was wondering if any other One owners are experiencing similar issues as me when it comes to wifi speeds on your phone. Let me first explain my issue, and then what I have done to troubleshoot and narrow down my possibilities.
So, for the past few months, as far as I can remember, I have been plagued by EXTREMELY SLOW wifi speeds. I'm talking 500kbs download speeds on a 50mbps home network. Whats even more bizzare is I have 10mbps upload speed on the wifi network. This does not pertain to any partcular rom. Sense, GPE, results are ALWAYS the same.
Now for the troubleshooting I have performed: I have tried various firmwares, radios, different roms, and of course I matched the current firmware to what rom version I am running. I have tried disconnecting the network and reconnecting, turned off Wifi Optimization in advanced wifi settings, I have tried resetting and powercycling the router, and have even switched internet service providers recently in the last week and am still experiencing painfully slow download speeds on wifi. And before someone tells me it may be a hardware failure, these results are consistently the same on my wife's HTC One. and my Nexus 7 ironically has blazing fast speeds.
So basically, I want to see If I am alone on this issue, or if others are experiencing similar issues with Wifi speeds being slow regardless of internet network speed. And why am I getting ridiculously fast upload speeds of around 10 mbps while only getting 500kbps to 1mbps download speeds??
Thanks guys, I wanted to put this thread out there to help others who may be in the same boat, and to get a consensus to see how many others also are plagued with this annoying nuisance.
Thanks.
Just tested the speed between nexus 7 and one on wlan and both upload and download are at 10 mbps (where the router is ~10 meters away through 2 solid walls).
I have a gpe 4.4.2 htc one.

hmmm, interesting... I just for the life of me cannot figure out why my wifi down speed is being choked so badly with nothing else sharing the connection.
I am having the exact same problem. I myself have been searching for answers and have not found anything.

I have a weird issue when connected to wifi and lte on in mobile networks my wifi speeds are slow, but when I pull the sim card or drop down to wcdma in the mobile settings it goes back to full speed. I am not sure if the sim card is bad or if it's something on tmobile's end anyone else have this issue. To test put the phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi and check you speeds it really noticeable in the YouTube app or instagram.

I get the same speed in plane mode with Wifi on as I do with LTE on. Maybe some router specs? Im only using Wireless N, so if you're using AC I can't perform the same test as you.
I am getting slow speeds but I have the At&t model. I'm only getting around 4-5 down and 20 up and I have 2 of them doing the same exact thing. Both my old Note 3's and my S4 active are pulling 15-20 down and 18-20 up every time. AC dual router 2.4 and 5.0

same exact issue, when I am connected through wifi and tmobile LTE, my dl speeds are 120mbps and ul speeds are ~mbps, but apps in general take forever to load. I tested the same way you did, I turned on airplane mode and turned off wifi after and connected and it is super fast. I can't seem to figure out why wifi and LTE are so slow together.
I have a weird problem also, on WiFi at home I have full Internet speed on chrome and YouTube but on Facebook it won't load. But when I switch to lte data everything works properly. It's probably a WiFi setting but I didn't have this problem on my nexus 5 on WiFi at home

Try force stop beaming service and then check it out, as in my case it causes after it updates the beaming service
Has anyone found a fix for this issue?
My home wifi seems to cause massive lag for the bloatware version of facebook. Other apps have great speed and download times. However I have no issues anywhere else just at home. If I switch to 4G it runs just fine.
Any updates on the WiFi issue? i have Comcast and i don't get internet when i connect to the WiFi. I have a nexus 5 and 7, both works on WiFi. Whats going on with the Nexus 6??

I just spent two weeks at my brother's house who has Comcast. Never had a problem at all using his Wi-Fi for Internet.

I also have Comcast. No WiFi issues with my Nexus 6, or any other devices.
Hey there... I am actually a field technician for Comcast maybe I can help. What exactly are you having for issues... can you see the network, is it the default password with default network name??? Let me know and I can do what I can to help you. Also what device do you have an XB2 or an XB3 wireless gateway?
That's weird. At my mother's I also have some issues with the WiFi at times where I just won't get a connection. I keep having to turn the WiFi on the nexus on and off. Luckily the lte coverage in the area is top notch
Just yesterday subscribed to Comcast/xfinity, logged my Nexus 6 into it, got full strength signal showing on the phone, and HUGE latency-to-zero performance. This is the first and only time I've ever seen little to no WiFi performance, yet WITH a very strong signal. I wonder if this has something to do with xfinity WiFi and that business where they share your bandwidth with other members who are nearby and wanting to use WiFi?
My wife's iPhone works fine with it...

I have this same issue with my Nexus 6. I can connect to the WiFi fine, but web connections never seem to complete. The progress bar in chrome gets to about 10% and just sticks there. Apps attempting to download data just time out.
I am running the latest stable released build of Marshmallow.
I do not have this issue on my n6 with xfinity internet. I do not use their leased modem/router so do not share the Internet but doubt that is the issue.
However, the WiFi is not always 100% stable (notice in clash of clans when a short disconnect is a big deal). I rarely get sporadic disconnects in that game but streaming video, etc. never causes an issue. I am using the latest Pure Nexus build lately and seems to have helped (maybe placebo).
Edit: I use that n6 like an iPod touch now (WiFi only) so I'd definitely notice but it works great.
