I recently received a new HTC One M7, but after turning it on, and getting it "activated" with sprint, it won't connect to any cell towers. In the setup it told me"Notwithstanding the above statement, this is a Test Device. Tell HTC is automatically enabled and cannot be disabled. By participating in the trial, you understand and agree that HTC will collect information from and about you and your device, including personally identifiable information, such as your name, phone number, precise location, email address, device ID, and IMEI.
The IMEI that the phone gives me is different than what is on the box, and on the sticker on the back.
However since I'm unable to connect to any cell towers, I'm unable to use the "Device Self Service" to finish activating.
What are my options here, aside from returning the phone?

Hello, everyone. My brother recently bought a used T-Mobile (US) myTouch 3G as he needed a GSM phone that would work overseas. The person who sold it claimed it was unlocked and seemed to work for awhile.
It stopped working with the overseas SIM so he sent it to me in the USA to try and fix it.
Now it is stuck at "No Sim Card" message without a SIM card and I've moved to CDMA network so I don't use a SIM card anymore...
I'd like to know if there's a way I can root this thing and put a working ROM on it or what I can do to get past this screen... Here's the data from hboot:

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!
Hey there,
Long story short, I sent a G1 for repair about 6 months ago because the touchscreen was busted, I finally got it back, decided to update the radios and hboot, before testing if the phone network worked in the first place.
If I go to Fastboot, the phone says
Dream PVT 32B SHIP S-ON
Hboot-1.33.0013d (DREA100000)
CPLD-4
Radio-2.22.28.25
Oct 21, 2009, 22:33:27.
Problem is that I tried a pair of Gingerbread Roms and can't get the phone to connect to the network. My G1 is unlocked, and I'm on Telcel (AT&T bands, not T-Mo bands), and all I get is a popup saying "Welcome to Telcel International Roaming", but it won't connect to any networks, roaming or not.
I've tried switching back to the 2.22.23 and 2.22.27 radios with no luck, the only thing I haven't tried is switching to the old hboot, because I'm afraid that coming from a newer hboot, it might brick the phone.
I'd appreciate any advice on what to do, I'd really like to have the G1 doing phone calls again.
Thanks.
Edit:
I'm currently on hboot 1.33.0013d, radio 2.22.23, Cyanogenmod 6.1.0 and still no phone signal.
I'm thinking on reverting the phone back to Android 1.0, flashing the original DREAMING.nbh on fastboot and the Andorid 1.0 rom. Will this undo all the hboot and radio changes I've done? Is it safe, considering the fact that I'm on hboot 1.33.0013d and radio 2.22.28?
Thanks.
i think your sim card is fried, it happened to me as well, just randomly out the blue one day i could connect to service provider, as far as the phone knew i had no sim so i went to tmobile store and got a new one for free and everything was fine again
I'm pretty sure it's not the sim card, I tested it on another phone and it still works.
At this point, I can only blame the guy that "fixed" my phone, who not only managed to not fix what I asked him to fix, he also broke the phone antenna, apparently.
hmm... wow that sucks man im sorry to hear that, have you tried different roms to see if the issue still exists?
I got my phone through Virgin Mobile Canada and it has Android 2.3.3. How does one unlock this phone to use on another carrier?
Also, what is the difference between S-ON & S-OFF?
Currently, looking at the screen it says:
VIVO PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.13.0000
RADIO-3805.04.03.27_M
eMMC-boot

Then goes on to list the menu.
Search the forum. I was doing all this a few weeks ago and was able to find everything from this forum.
Cheers!

To SIM unlock the phone for use on another carrier, you need to get an unlocked code either from your current carrier or a paid service that offers them.
S-ON/S-OFF involves turning the Security Flag on or off so that you can root the device, flash a custom recovery and flash custom rooted ROMs. Since you are on HBOOT 1.13, then you should be able to use http:revolutionary.io to S-OFF your phone.
You should have checked the sticky posts in this forum and read more about the phone and you would have discovered the answers.
There's no way Virgin would ever give me the unlock code.
To bad there's no free way to get an unlock code.
EDIT: I forgot to ask, on revolutionary.io it asks for the serial number, is that the actual serial number the device has, or like some of the places that sell the unlock code as for the IMEI number and call that the serial number?

That is the serial number of the phone. You can get it by running the adb command "adb devices".

My phone is not rooted, anyway, the serial number is on the back of the phone under the battery.
EDIT: Is there a way I can backup everything on the phone first, before trying the app from rev?

Well did you search for the answer? Usually the best thing to do is S-OFF using Revolutionary and then you can make a full 'nandroid' backup which is a complete image of the phone at the current state in time. That is what most people do.
If you are asking to backup before Revolutionary, then your options are pretty limited. You can certainly backup your apps and settings, but as far as backing up your ROM and system data you usually need root access for that.
The only thing I want to backup are all my text messages & phone book.

Running Revolutionary to S-OFF is not going to mess or touch that information in any way.
Sounds like you need to search the Android Market for a backup app. The 2 that I know of and use for backing up user data like this both require root access.
How do I search the market, I've got no service on my cell?!

OK, so you have a Virgin Mobile IncS but you don't have Virgin SIM or service and you want to unlock it for another carrier. Sounds like you need to take it back to Virgin and get your money back and get something else.
I had Virgin until earlier this month, I refused to pay my bill because they [Virgin] were billing me for long distance on a toll-free number everytime I called my ISP.
So, now I need to unlock my phone to see if it'll work on Wind Mobile's network.

OK then try this:
http://android.modaco.com/forum-497...e-sim-unlock-any-htc-device-instantly-for-20/
That is only good if you've got a working connection, I don't.
I want to back up my texts & phone book first, and I'm still waiting for an answer for what app I can use.
Titanium backup was what I used. It backs up pretty much everything and a new feature let's you delete annoying system apps (such as twitter for a non twitterer). I have heard of Nandroid backup and it seems pretty popular but I don't know much about it .
As far as your contacts you could just export to SD and import after. You could also
Use your Google account to upload your contacts and reload them after.

I know that, but certain phones will work on Wind's network, but they can't tell you which phones, so you need to have an unlocked phone so they can put in one of their SIM cards to test the phone out.
Hello.
I do not know English, I write this using an interpreter.
General premise came to me with this smartphone.
Found two strange problems.
1) it is not no sound at all through the speakers or through headphones. When turned on, the default sounds and so on. However, when there is a switch on the radio sound over headphones or through speakers. Tried different firmware. The problem is not resolved.
2) Do not see the network or writes restricted access. Contacts SIM card spots but no network. 112 (number Sos) calls. Sometimes when there is a network of long while. Check calls, well I did not hear. (checked through the microphone voice recording on the recorder).
What can you advise?

Ok you are rooted.
Rom: Install a rom such as SVHD. See if the problem persists. If it does, it may be hardware problem.

Put what you suggested.
And what changes I noticed:
1) Network began to appear frequently after time to register it in the settings. Well anyway disappears.
2) Problems with the sound remained. Since the standard does not have a radio, no sound could verify.
When I phoned the network was from this phone to another, hear me, and I'm not hearing.
Hi,
Recently I received an M7 my girlfriend found on the street. It was from Vodafone and I had a GiffGaff SIM. This is what I did:
I unlocked the bootloader
Rooted
Installed Android Revolution HD v91.x
I did this while on holiday in Spain. Inserted my SIM and it worked. Using roaming I was able to connect to 3G, do and receive calls. Last Friday I came back to UK and once landed I started my HTC and I got 3G connection but no signal bars at all, and I couldn't call or receive calls. Curious is that I had to create the APN manually.
What could be the cause? I've tried with various different SIM cards from different carriers, but with none I get signal. Could it be that Vodafone has blocked the IMEI?
I've tried doing S-OFF to change the CID but I'm not able. My phone info:
Code:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.56.0000
RADIO-4A.26.3263.05
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-4.19.161.11
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Any suggestion on what I could do ir try?
I wanted to get S-OFF to change the CID, or even the IMEI.
Any idea why I'm getting 3G but no signal and can't make or receive calls?
Thank you very much.
Any help is appreciated.

If the the device had been reported lost or stolen its very possible that the IMEI has been blacklisted.
You could try flashing it with an RUU, but if it is blacklisted that will make little difference. But if it's a software problem it should resolve it. :good:

Hi Danny,
Thanks for your answer! I've used Check Mend to see if the IMEI is blocked/blacklisted or not and yes, it is. Basically I can't do lot with the phone. I can use it as MP3 and "game console" while using my old Iphone for calls... I will probably end up buying a new phone, but I hate that they've moved the home and back buttons on to the actual screen :crying:
What I could do is call Vodafone and tell them that I found my phone and if they can unblock it. But they'll probably need a proof of purchase so I don't think it'll work.
Sad.
Thanks anyway!
