Volume bar On Android N - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know if this is a bug or not.. When I adjust my volume (no matter what screen I'm on) the volume bar comes up and the phone shows the home screen. When I'm watching a video and adjust the volume, the home screen comes up.. When it finishes, home screen goes away. Any way to stop that?

I add pic's to show the problem.

Does not happen to me, what layers do you have applied? Remove ALL layers themes and try again.

Volume Screen

Hi all,
I'm sure that you've all noticed that there are two types of volume screens : the full-screen one and the extremely thin one which doesn't cover the screen.
I noticed the thin one when I tried using the Youtube app...
I hate the full-screen volume screen because you can't quickly adjust your sound and go straight back to what you were doing (you have to wait for it to disappear).
Is there any way to get rid of the full-screen volume screen and replace it with the thin one for all applications (including TF3D)?
Thanks for looking

Just tap outside of the volume bars and they disappear instantly
Well, that certainly makes me a little feel foolish...
I would have liked to have the small volume screen for everything so it doesn't feel so 'disruptive' as going full-screen but this is still good to know, thanks
lol don't worry about it.
it took me a few days to realize the same thing lolol
The small one it's just the default one for WMpro devices The other is custom made by HTC for the latests devices.
No, i think he's not talking about the WM default one.
He means the small bar on top of the screen (e.g. when you use the volume buttons in the youtube application or wmp):
Thanks for the tidbit. Though it's a shame there is no 'Automatic' button on the volume screen to set it back to vibrate for appointments.

Yes there is. Go to Settings > Sounds. It is about the 4th option down.
The above option will vibrate only for all appointments. This will suit most people. If you want to be selective about appointment categories then you can use an application like SPB Phone. There are probably free applications (donateware) that do the same thing too. The standard functioanlity exists on your phone though.

Exactly !
It's not a big issue but when you want to adjust the volume while watching a video with Core player the full-screen volume screen is really annoying...
I'd love to have that thin volume screen all the time....

Help with "back" and "menu" buttons?

I'm an amateur at all this I've managed to get my nook color rooted, and I've installed a few apps. I've tried softkeys, but I'm not 100% happy with the result. First it wouldn't start on its own after a reboot. I reconfigured it following some directions form another user, and it starts now, but it's still too "busy", with bars and buttons popping up all over.
ALL I WANT is an app or some way to configure a "back" button and "menu" button in the lower black bar where the clock, bettery meter, etc are? Any ideas?
Either that, or is there a way to turn off ALL THE OTHER FUNCTIONS AND DISPLAYS of softkeys EXCEPT the ability to go "back" when pressing the physical "N"/home button, which is how I have it now.
In the end, I don't want any "back" or "menu" buttons on the actual viewable screen except the lower black bar.
THANKS a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not quite what you asked for but i remapped my volume keys for menu and back. works great for my needs. i control volume with a widget now.

hope this solves your frustrations with hotkeys.

Well, if all you want is a back button on the notification bar..... you have one. Not talking about the back button that appears on there either. Just swipe left on the notification bar and it should always work as a back button.
Other than that, there's an app you can try called Button Savior you can get from the Market. It has a small launcher button that appears on the edge of the screen. You can move it around a limited range as you see fit. It's not as complicated or as "busy" as Softkeys.
If you find the visible button not to your liking, you can try this modded version of Button Savior. The button is invisible. You can see where the button actually lies by switching to the Sense UI theme. Then back to the default or Froyo theme to make it invisible once more. The modded version of Button Savior can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897253
I suggest you try the Market version of Button Savior first.
I'm going to second Button Savior. It hasn't let me down once

You don't have Softkeys set up properly..

I understand what you are looking for. I would like the same thing, but I do not believe there is anything out there for us..
I may end up remapping the volume keys myself.

With SoftKeys you can put the menu and back buttons in the notification area, since ver. 1.0.8 I believe. Then, disable the popper, and you are good to go.

Home button animation randomly stops working

The pixel-style animation when pressing the home button gets disabled randomly on my Nokia 7 plus. It defaults back to generic AOSP style button whenever this occurs. See the screenshot. You'll notice that the little extra inner circle has disappeared.
I've reset the phone twice and it still happens.
I reported the bug to Nokia but does anyone else have this issue?
Sorry have to double post to put in the extra image.
This screenshot has the original working button with the inner circle.
I can get the button back if I change the wallpaper to one that changes the launcher theme from light to dark or vice versa.
Might as well close this mystery. My smart self did not realise that if you set the default "Assist" app to something other than Google it goes away.
Thing is when I set it to the Duck Duck Go app it stayed active for a while which confused me.

Temporary marker on screen

Any idea what this marker is on the screen which fades away after a few seconds? Assume it's something introduced as one of the updates?
That looks like a scroll bar for that widget you have there
I don't have the widget on!
Are you using a custom launcher? Looks like another one behind your spen icon too. Does it slide your notifications on your homepage. Def haven't seen that on my Note.
Definitely from something you installed, not from the phone itself or any phone update.

Hold down the power button to bring up the shutdown menu. Then hold down the power off icon. It will ask if you want to restart into safe mode. Hit yes. Once your phone is back on, all third party apps are disabled. If that bar if gone, then it confirms it is something you downloaded. To get out of safe mode, just go to the power menu and tap restart.

how to get rid of the rotation button

Hey ppl
Anyone noticed this ugly button?
I press it several times by accident. The only way to deal with is to enable the navigation bar (the button will then be displayed inside of it).
Is there a wax to remove it completely?
Thanks

I personally love that button I believe this is a Pie feature, it lets you rotate your phone on command instead of it automatically rotating. To turn that off simply make sure Auto Rotate is turned on in the Quick Settings toggles.
yeah but i dont want autorotate at all. i hate it even^^
I don't have this button and I'm actually interested
What do you set on to have it?

Turn off auto rotate, and Pie will show it whenever it detects your phone has rotated.

That tiny little unobtrusive button only appears when you have auto rotate turned off AND you rotate your phone. It should not appear during normal use. And it goes away after a few seconds if you don't press it.

I understand what you're asking. But it's not possible. And again the button goes away after a few seconds.
Root and install something other than One UI. Although saying that, I don't remember seeing this rotate button while running several of the different custom One UI roms, can double check if you want.
