so i took a look at the other threads except that they were no very clear, is there a program or something that makes it easier to extract the files. im just not very good at compiling programs and setting path variables. I have uploaded the motoboot img and the file i have been trying to use to extract it

Help!
I've followed the instructions on the wiki about dumping a ROM, which I've done and it worked fine.
Then i started to follow everything to rebuild the ROM, which worked until I got to the buildimgfs.exe stage, and all I get is an error message that it cant find the compression dll, even though I know the dll is in the directory with it.
Any help much appreciated as I'm trying to rebuild a Orange UK M700 rom
Cheers
use these batch files to dump/rebuild the rom&hive, nbhtool to create the Signed_RUU.nbh
Make Sure You Have A Valid Imgfs_raw_data.bin In The Folder You Are Issueing The Command From, That Stopped My buildimgfs.exe Working.
Cheers
still not working...
message about missing compression dll still happens, even though viewimgfs works fine.
@apoc - not entirely sure which bat files to run, the dump ones didnt seem to do anything?

command prompt:
NBDump.bat OS.nb - to dump
NBBuild.bat OS.nb - to rebuild
HVDump.bat user | HVDump.bat default - to dump the user.hv or default.hv,
The HV bat files must be on the same dir as the .hv files.
there are a bunch of hidden files, and I've mistankenly hidden OSChecker.exe, I think it's not exactly necessary to check the created .nb files, but the file is there and you can use it.
@APOC, another bit of help if you dont mind?
I've run the NBBuild.bat and it produced a file but someones tested it and says it doesnt work so I had a look at the .bat and some of the steps seem to pull information from an exisiting NBH file? I downloaded a file as part of the wiki step by step to dump and rebuild a file so the NBH I have is nothing to do with the one I'm trying to rebuild ... is that a problem?
As before I've got as far as running viewimgfs to create the dump directory but buildimgfs refuses to work still!

I've jsut read tadzio's thread about the enhanced imgfs tools so I'm going to try that again and see what I can do
HI,
I am trying to get an apk from a KDZ file. I can open up the KDZ but then there are many other files inside. I guess the apks are in one of these other files. Does anyone know how to get the apk from within .img files etc?
Thanks

How you extracted KDZ?
Why don't you get it from the sapps module zip on void's rom?
I need a particular app from the Orange UK ROM - the app is called Signal Boost and it is for UMA calling.
Is that app in the ROM you mention?
What you need is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6303911&postcount=827
It allows you to decompress system.mbn (where all the files are).
Compile it under linux, or use cygwin.
Remember that official ROMs are odexed. If you want to deodex apks, you can use dsixda's excelent kitchen. It is used to make lots of ROMs you see around here.
For that, take a look here (you can also use it under cygwin):

Most info was gathered from xda forums, only translated and organized to portuguese folks.
Many thanks, I will see if I can get anywhere with this.
You just need to compile unyaffsmbn (gcc unyaffsmbn.c -o unyaffsmbn).
Then copy system.mbn to unyaffsmbn folder. Then do:
./unyaffsmbn system.mbn
You'll have all files extracted in few seconds.
Then if you want to use those files in kitchen, do this:
First install kitchen, as explained in link i posted above.
Delete all symlinks in bin/ (i think there are 52)
Then you must create a zip file with this structure:
/boot.img
/system/ (here you put all the files you extracted. You should have 10 folders and 1 file)
Now just copy this zip to PATH_TO_KITCHEN/original_update/
Then run it with:
cd PATH_TO_KITCHEN
./menu
Right I have three system.mbn files named:
system.mbn_0
system.mbn_1
system.mbn_2
I have tried a few tools (under Windows) to extract them. Firstly a windows compiled version of unyaffs which falls over with : Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION at eip=61100F73
I then tried another version which didn't error but also didn't do anything!
A different tool errored with "the header states that its binary is longer than the whole file" which makes me think perhaps these three files need combining into one?
I have tried combining them into one file using the copy /b command in Windows which creates a single large file but I still have the same issues trying to unpack it.
Any more ideas? Thanks
Right have now installed Cygwin and managed to extract the files using unyaffsmbn! Thanks for all your help, learnt a lot today!

How did you decompress kdz? I use LG Utils to extract to dz, then dzdecryptor to decompress dz to individual files. Then i use the tools i named to do the rest of it.
Also i can see that lg utils finds those system*, but puts them together before it ends. Maybe you used different software.
Anyway, i'm glad you managed to work it out

There is unyaffs, and unyaffsmbn. unyaffs also never worked with me.
I've read somewhere that with lg roms we must use unyaffsmbn. Don't remember were i saw it, neither why...
I used LG utils to extract the KDZ, then used DZExtract to expand the .dz file. Then I combined the system.mbn_0,1,2 files using copy /b.
I then used Cygwin and gcc to make unyaffsmbn.exe which then worked on the combined system.mbn file. Managed to get the apk I needed too.
PLease upload unyaffsmbn.exe for me please as i seriously need it.
Here you go...
[SOLVED]I've extracted the system.img from the RUU but can't figure out how to extract it. I've tried unyaffs.exe but end up with some sort of stack dumpe file (I think that's what it was).
[WORKING ON IT] Also, once I get it extracted, is there an easy way to deodex the system and framework folders? I've looked around and it looks like there are some programs and scripts for other ROM/Phones but nothing for ours.
Tried deodexing through the kitchen but it's not working. Just boot loops. Any help at all?
I was having problems like everyone else with the RSDlite flashing verizon's stock 902 because, like a flash-a-holic sometimes does, got stuck in fastboot mode....
Tried flashing the 902 through RSDlite but kept coming up with system.img flash failure.
Well, seeing as how when you install drivers, devices, etc., it's good to reboot. Well, I figured why not rezip? So I took the unzipped files from VRZ_XT875_5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.zip
and zipped them again (excluding the folder that led to them, the files themselves) and BOOM! no system.img flash failure, everything went smooth as....well smooth
Thought I'd share this tidbit of info for anyone running into the problems I was having and couldn't find anything of a fix.
Thanks
now that good to know i just bookmarked this just in case now where did u get the 902 fxz so i can get it lol cause i need it bad lol
Ray
Hmmmm.....
I thought, specifically when using RSD 5.7, you were supposed to leave the files zipped. That's what the 'Decompress and Flash' is for...to unzip then flash.
If I read this right, you unzipped yourself then tried to flash instead of letting RSD do it all.
Good post though
D
As I understand it, you can either give it a zip file which it will unzip an flash, or you can unzip it yourself and click on the xml file in the directory.
Being a linux user, I just unzip them, skim through the xml file and then perform the same set of commands manually via fastboot; there's a pretty obvious onene mapping of the xml "steps" and actual fastboot commands. Doing the fastboot commands manually also means I can skip pointless things like wiping data/cache, although chances are you could do the same in rsd if you edited the xml file.
nononono, I was trying to flash the zipped files through RSDlite, but kept coming up on 15/22 failed system flash, and I had downloaded the file from three different sources and every one gave me that fail. I just had the unzipped files for goin through, a little habit of mine. I work on computers and phones and most files you download (well, me anyways) are zipped (mainly rar) and I automatically just unzip about whatever I download. And after searching a bit, everywhere was just saying "oh, well there's just something wrong with the FXZ", and while that may be the case, it wasn't a solution to the problem, just an excuse. And while I also use fastboot (I've probably flashed 30 phones, with 20 different roms, a hundred times), I like to know what I'm doin' and with what programs avaiable, and mainly, to follow the directions that the author of the rom sets out.
But like I've said, I rezipped (using 7-zip) the files and probably flashed 4 times now and not a problem one.
hey rdistiso, there's a good one on 4shared as far I'm aware
So, I unlocked the bootloader on my SM-G780G, downloaded the ROM that fits my model, region and all (triple checked it), however when I went to replace system.img, there is no system.img. I looked into all the files, AP and the others that I don't remember now, and the closest to system.img is super.img on AP, which is a huge file, as would system.img be I guess.
Any tips on what to do here?
You want to flash a custom ROM?
Also something about super.img:
Editing system.img inside super.img and flashing our modifications
I'm trying to modify my system.img (/system/build.prop) to include support for multi users. After struggling a lot, I've succeeded following your guide (that's an awesome work btw) to unpack, mount, modify, umount and repack super.img. Then...
forum.xda-developers.com
You need to run an Ubuntu Linux operating system virtual box (or use an online emulator of Ubuntu and transfer files via Google drive)

files ending in .tar are archives you've got to open up. look in super for smaller archives.
