Touchscreen problem when gaming - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! That's my first thread here, and I'm not sure if that's the right place to post, but I guess it is.
So as said in the title, I have a Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8200L (VE). I know it isn't the best phone for gaming, but I can't buy a new one right now.
I have three games installed: Minecraft (but I use Blocklauncher for mods), Doom Touch and GTA San Andreas. They actually run pretty well on the phone, but there's some kind of problem on the touchscreen that annoy me very much. When I'm playing any of these games, the touchscreen randomly starts acting weird, it freezes, then it touch random points of the screen (mostly the D-PAD, making the character move by himself, or the game menu button, on the top left corner). It keep like this for some seconds and then go back to normal. It doesn't happen ALL the time, but frequently.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
No custom rom
No custom kernel
Rooted device
Thanks for any help. And sorry for bad english.

You guys probably overclocked it too much damaging the touchscreen.

this makes no sense mate. The overclock affects the cpu and not the touch screen. Anyway I didn't use any extreme overclock, beside using for a while the Telus Lite with 1.1ghz oc stock. And well I barely played any game, just a lot of emails and surfing on the web, very few calls. I noticed it happens when i move too much, like dancing or when i leave it on the shelf for the night and by the morning it acts crazy

I used to have that issue with stock 2.1 roms.
CM6, Sense mod, fastest Eclare and now MIUI does not bring that night mare back to me.
Also, if you charge using a 2-pin socket [the one without the earthed pin, popular in Asia], it'll show up.
OP needs to be a little more clear, but let me say my results.
Ever since flashing 2.2.1 SBF and then applying a few Froyo Mods and even goign back to ECLAIR,
I noticed that multitouch screws up. Sometimes it things I have a finger on the screen already, so by putting a finger on, it does a pinch zoom on me even though I only have 1 finger on it. Then sometimes it doesn't let me press an icon on my screen insisting my finger is elsewhere. Other times the notification bar starts getting pulled down randomly.
Perhaps Kadalban can explain his Multitouch fix, but for me it seemed to solve a lot of issues. Granted it was only pushed out in CM6 12/4/2010, which gives me 1 day to test so far, but some of those freak-incidents have been disappearing. You'd have to give me 3-5 days to conclude anything, but for now it seems to have done the trick.
i have issue with eclair 3b and CM6....it crazy when i I get my phone out of my pants....
is it FW error or HW error? in my country, in my country there are many like me.and we do not have a solution for this problem rather than the touch screen

how did you fix your screen.my homebutton does not respond
I just changed to some mod roms and the problem disappeared for me.
Some of my friends got really big issue with the touch panel and when they came to Motorola service point, the technicians said there is a known issue with the panel they used but not all customers are affected (hence some people are OK after trying different roms).
So if one experiences it then just needs to go to Moto and they'll change to a healthy-guaranteed panel obviously, if you're still under warranty, it's free!

[Q] Multitouch lag/issues? what could be the cause?

So I started noticing lag on games with a virtual pad. As in, jump works fine if im standing in game for example, but im running and I try to jump, either it doesnt do it at all, or it does it with some lag.
So I downloaded a multitouch tester and pretty much confirmed that there's an issue there.
If I just touch with one finger at a time, it works fine. If I press with two fingers and keep them there moving them around and whatnot, it also works fine.
BUT, if I keep pressing with one finger and use the other one to do a fast light tap, half of the time it doesnt register it.
Im using the ROM posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871
wich im finding to be great, but I thought of originally posting my issue there since I gather it is more likely to be caused by software and not hardware.. right? considering simple touch works completely fine.
Any ideas?
Ace supports only 2 fingers at a time. But i did not find any types of lags while using 2 fingers. But it wont work if u use 3 or more fingers at once.
REPLY
Hey I got 100% same issue too. On original cm7 nightly.
But I found out sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't seems to work. I think it's similar to the rounding bug.
Maybe it's the kernel problem. Just don't overclock and it will work well. Or, reboot your phone and wait for a night without touching it, and the problem is gone. However, the bug will occur again after you install an app or launch an app. This multi-touch bug always occur on cm7. If you don't want this problem you can use stock roms. But if you say touch making it lags, it doesn't make our phone lags or the game you play using this phone is a bit slow. Just the second finger is responding slowly if the first finger is pressed/touched on the screen.
And I've tested this bug using the dev tools in the cm7 rom. dev tools/pointer location. All of the stock rom doesn't have this bug except cm7. CM7 will not have this problem on the first few weeks since the first boot. hope it helps
It's a Ace Hardware issue. Nothing to do about it.

[Q] CM7 Multi touch problem(slow responsive)

well hi everyone, I didn't know you guys know it or not. that the cm7 always a multi touch problem after a few weeks since the first boot. but stocks isn't. and this problem is comfirmed i guess cuz i tried many roms. but i always tried it at maximum 2 finger(our phone can only support 2 finger touch). and i used many roms for a few weeks without modding it. after a few weeks, i found out every cm7 will respond to touch screen extremely slow sometimes when 2 fingers taps on the screen quickly at the same time, 2 fingers draw or keep pressing on the screen works normally. stock doesn't has this problem. or you can try it out. this bug will not occur all the time. it's kinda rounding bug(occurs in a certain time), the multitouch will working perfectly without any kind bugs on cm7 for a few hours per day. i don't wanna flash new roms again cuz the bug will occur again if i download, install or even launch apps and i got too much of important conversations/data in my current os. im a music lover so if i flash stock roms the sound isn't that good and loud enough even with patches. it's very irritating when playing multi touch games.
have you experienced this bug before on cm7?
any solutions?
thx for your help

Possessed Touch Screen Galaxy Mini and some other issues

I have some weird problem to fix on my girlfriends Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-5570
Firstly, touchscreen works OK, then suddenly it starts acting like possessed, it detects random touches over the screen, it clicks things, moves things, etc, then it backs to normal and works perfectly for a while and then horror starts again......
Sometimes it even doesn't detect touch, but locking/unlocking makes it work again.
And sometimes it even unlocks it self.
These actions help when touchscreen go crazy:
- Reboot - sometimes touchscreen problem gone for a few hours, but sometimes it still here
- Lock/Unlock
- Rapidly entering the menu after unlocking (if the touchscreen is still a bit usable to do that)
I tested it while normal work with different applications, and these results are perfect, even better than on my brand new LG P350.
It's fluid, precise, no dead spots, multi touch also works.
I done Wipe data and cache, I flashed S5570XWKTN firmware (Android 2.3.6) and there is result: it longer works normally but it still sometimes go crazy.
So I think that touchscreen needs replacement, but I'm not sure. I don't have money to throw away, in case that problem is not related with touchscreen.
Is there any solution?
It also have problem with weak signal, if network signal is low, while other devices have one-two bars, this guy have noone. Reflash didn't helped.
Is there a way to improve internal antenna?
Also can someone recommend me a good stable and fast ROM for it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Problem source: Digitizer/Touchscreen
Solution: Replacement of Digitizer/Touchscreen
Problem fixed.

Why is my phone SO #%@!* SLOW??

I bought a used Droid Bionic off eBay cheap as a temporary replacement for my broken Samsung S3 to last until contract renewal time. But, this thing is just a turd. It's a PITA to use.
I'm running SlimKat in Slot 1. That's the only custom ROM I have installed. But it's just as slow if I boot the stock rom (and was before I rooted or did any customizing).
When I get a call, it rings several times before the screen wakes up so I can answer it. A couple times, the call has gone to voicemail before the screen woke up so I could answer the call. The capacitive buttons light up, it vibrates, the ringtone plays, but the screen stays dark until the 3rd ring.
Sometimes it takes 10 or 15 seconds just to get the keyboard to come up when I touch a text entry box. Doesn't matter what app or what keyboard I use.
Sometimes it takes so long for it to respond to a touch that I don't know if it registered my touch so I touch the screen again then a few seconds later it registers both touches which totally screws up whatever I was trying to do and I have to start over.
Sometimes I just want to throw this thing against a brick wall. It would be very satisfying to watch it shatter into pieces. It's frustrating me so much, I'm seriously thinking of borrowing a friend's old iPhone... Just typing that made me feel dirty, but that's how bad it is.
I don't see anybody else complaining. What's wrong with my phone?

Have you tried running LagFix (from the Play Store; I am unable to post a link)? My phone slowed significantly over time while running CM11 nightlies; I occasionally boot into stock and run LagFix and it does clear up a fair number of slowdowns. This seems the most likely cause which would impact both stock and slot performance.
It's not ROM but the battery that makes phone slow over the time... Old battery creates static charge and unable to generate enough discharge to run the phone.
Replace the battery with the new one.. And you are good to go...

I tried LagFix, but got an error saying it was incompatible.
My battery does die awfully fast, so I've ordered a replacement. I have doubts about that fixing the slowness, but I needed a new battery anyway so it won't be a total loss if it doesn't work.

Not sure what you are doing to your Bionic to make it so slow. Mine is by far no speed demon but definitely not slow. Do you have a lot of unnecessary crap such as widgets, themes, etc.. running?

Not at all. The only widget I use is the calendar widget. I use Nova launcher, trimmed down to one home screen. No themes. No games. Only a handful of apps and most of those are utilities (ES File Explorer, Swifkey, Dropbox, XBMC remote, an alarm clock, etc.). Facebook is the only social media app.

That is bizarre, must be Slim Kat. I am on CM M8 and while it does have some minor slow downs sometimes but nothing what you describe.
(A good time to update SafeStrap if you are not on the newest version)

LagFix has to be run from the stock install, rather than from a custom rom slot; it will then work only on the /data partition, which is normal.
Concerning the delay in pulling up the screen for an incoming call, I also have that same issue inconsistently on CM11 nightlies - it's often the third pulse of the motor before the screen wakes up. I haven't found a good solution to this, as it seems to be related to the phone being in deep sleep with the second core hot-unplugged. You may be able to increase the responsiveness at the cost of battery life by increasing the minimum processor speed or using a different governor, but I haven't experimented with this systematically enough to make a recommendation.
I found a solution!!
A new Samsung Galaxy S5 will be here tomorrow.

Battery effecting speed seems quite farfetched. If you say it's "static charge" that really means nothing. Maybe you mean it won't source enough current. Therefore effecting processor speed? If so then plugging in would fix you up.
