I can no longer skip to the next video in my queue while casting the YouTube app to my Chromecast. The screen goes blank on my phone, but video keeps playing on Chromecast. Very strange. Running 5.1 on honor 5x, stock, no root.
Thanks

Uninstalled all updates to the YouTube app then installed from marketplace and everything is back to normal.

Hi I had a group of friends with iPhones trying to add Youtube videos to the TV queue with no luck. Once they connected to the chromecast, their video selected started playing automatically on the TV thus overtaking the current video that was already playing. Is there any step-by-step instructions on how to add videos to a TV queue for multiple iPhones? The process seems to work well with Android devices but not for iOS devices.
Thanks in advanced!
Was that an option?

When playing with my Chromecast with some family, we found that only the person currently controlling the ChromeCast can add things to the playlist. The new YouTube version though has a "+ queue" option that I see on my phone, but haven't been able to test it with another device yet though.
Not sure if its the same but on my android phone and tablet I launch the YouTube app hit the chrome cast button to connect to the chrome cast not while playing a video. I connect both devices first. Once both devices are connected I can add videos to the queue. This was before the app update. And it works pretty much the same way now. There is a glitch where sometimes only one device gets the play controls so the other device can only advance along the playlist by clicking on an individual video in the queue playlist
I recently (early February) factory reset my HD+ and then let it update completely to the newest stock software version before rooting it. Now, whenever I try to play a video, whether it is an m4v/mp4 file I manually placed onto the SD card, or a streamed video from Vudu, or a downloaded video from Vudu, or a streamed video from Google Play Movies, or a downloaded video from Google Play Movies, it won't play. At all. It opens up whichever video player I choose (I've tried the built-in player, BS Player, MX Player, and VLC), but the player will then load endlessly. I can't seek forward by clicking the progress bar. When I try to play a movie direct from the Vudu app, it buffers endlessly, even for a video I've downloaded. Same with a video from Google Play Movies. Sometimes the loading circle or buffer notice will freeze, and I'll get a notice that whichever app I'm using is not responding and if I want to wait or close.
I haven't been able to find anything about this issue that anyone else is having. Any ideas?
I'll take a wild guess that its from rooting stock.
Today I was trying to watch a live YouTube stream from my phone. I got the message that live streams were not permitted on my Chromecast.
I then tried casting the same stream from my desktop. It worked. To verify that I wasn't just casting a chrome tab, I closed all of the chrome windows. The stream kept working.
I also tried casting the stream from chrome beta for android. I didn't get an error, but the casting didn't work. I just got a black screen on the phone and a YouTube screen on the TV.
Is there a way around this restriction? Can I cast a live feed from my android phone to my Chromecast?
Thanks,
Ken F

Being that live streams aren't supposed to work, either you got lucky, or they're working on it.
Not much you can do but wait to see if YouTube updates its info and/or capabilities.
Live streams work for me from my laptop but not from my phone as well. I don't think it's a mistake, I just don't think the mobile app has added that feature yet.
As I understand it the chromecast doesnt render the video but connects to youtube and plays a specially renderd version for the chrome cast, I guess this is not available live. When you cast from a pc the pc renders the video for you.
YouTube added this support on the Website just recently.....
Coming to an Android App near you at some point!

Private Videos too!

Looks like the next Android and iOS will remove the live limitation to casting. They may be beta testing it by only offering it on the website for the moment.
I think u should remove it, maybe it is beta?
When I or my girl leave the main TV room to use the restroom or feed the dog, etc, is there a method or a 3rd party app that will allow the casted app (Netflix or HBOGo mostly) to still play on the phone while also casting to the TV? This would avoid having to pause the show we're watching. FWIW, screen mirroring from the Chromecast app while watching Netflix locally on the phone... is way too laggy to be a viable solution.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Mirroring the screen is the only option I know of. You either cast or have to switching it from cast to on the phone.

The other main intention of streaming via CC, besides the big screen, was to let the phone idle during playback to save battery. But you can still stream thru the phone to tv with all the disadvantages.
I noticed I get the icon to mirror my phone to my LG tv immediately when I'm using my youtube app but not when I play a movie with the stock video player. Is there a video app that has built in Miracast? I'll try VLC since it mentions Miracast and see when I get home.

Native miracast is hit and miss as Google seems to have coded it to not fully work as to move users to Chromecast. Try LocalCast on playstore and play with the settings to see if that works.
I personally have never been able to cast successfully on my N6. I caved in and bought a Chromecast lol
I'll probably get a roku and I think it can cast to it but it might need a casting app for the roku and for the phone
