Here's the thing often times my phone goes to roaming even though im still on a network coverage area which in turn causes charges to my account when I send message or call someone and use my data. Now what I do when that happens is (on a samsung phone) go to [Settings>Mobile Networks>Network Operators>Select Automatically] which fixes the problem sometimes. Is there a way to automate this process with tasker so that whenever my phone's signal state goes to roaming it does the thing above^
Try with AutoInput, that will work for sure

can you give me an idea how to do that with Auto Input?
I was able to create a task wherein tasker does this "Settings>Mobile Network>Network Operators>Select Automatically" now the only thing I have no idea about is how to do the profile so when my signal state goes to roaming the tasks triggers any ideas?
Try this, maybe this will work. I can't try it now, because i'm changing ROM on my Z2

Roaming
%ROAM
on if device is roaming on the current telephone network, otherwise off.

Hi all,
Does anyone else have problems with location-based WiFi working sometimes and then not? I mainly have to turn WiFi of manually, but sometimes it does work, more often than not. I'm on three and haven't had the .434 update yet, hopefully 4.2.2 will fix this bug of mine.

Hmm, maybe .434 silently fixed it...

Works fine on .434. Must have data enabled for it to work, though.

Really that's why it doesn't work then, I only have data on when I need it as I nearly always have WiFi where I am....I wonder why data needs to be on for it to work, I suppose it's so it can see where I am?

It needs data on so it can pinpoint where you actually are, near a saved wifi or not.
EDIT: this feature actually works great on my phone. The Z uses very little power with 3G on while idling, so this is something I am really curious about whereas to why other manufacturers haven't tried implementing something like this on their phones.

So when we enable Stamina Mode, the location-based WiFi doens't work?

probably not
So I tried leaving data on, it didn't seem to help
Though in power settings under location-based WiFi there is an option for standard or advance, the advance option has worked as it turns off WiFi if there are no available networks if in the saved area...well that's what I interpreted it to do, even if that's what it should do anyway :-/

It actually does, it's also a power saving option which works together with Stamina mode. On my phone it works

I don't understand this sentence.
I think they mean "turns off WiFi if there are no available networks in the saved area...
If it's a "saved" area, of course it will have a WLAN.. it's a SAVED area.
I don't understand the "standard" power policy either. Of course you want to keep your WIFI on in saved areas...? Why would you want it off in saved areas? Or do I have a different perception of "saved areas"?
The networks I have are called "saved networks".....so...
My Xperia SP device is constantly connecting to the Internet despite the mobile setting being turned off and WiFi being turned on. I can see on My T-Mobile account the phone is making 1-10kb connections. I noticed that when I turn off "location settings" the connection stops.
This is the SECOND phone I had. The first Xperia SP phone also had the same problem. Got that replaced and the replacement phone also have the problem.
I got two questions: Does other Xperia SP phones have a similar issue? And will other Xperia models (e.g. Xperia Z, T, etc) have the same issue?
If data is turned off then there should be no connection via data. However data is G/2G/3G/4G(or LTE) it is possible that some bytes go through the call/sms connection.
As you can ssee by the screenshot it's going in as data. Phones4U said it's as intended if location is switched on as it can override the mobile settings.
Something must be constantly requiring location access then.

But doesn't mobile Internet overrides the location settings. If that's tuned off then phone won't connect to Internet. Period.
If I replace with another Xperia model, will the niggle persist there as well. Can someone check.. Turn off mobile Internet setting but location settings turned on. Then check your data usage.
Samsung does not have this behavior.

I dont know if this will help but try to disable backround data.
Where in settings?
Turning off location stops the flow of traffic. However, location is needed for weather location and maps.. WiFi is connected and mobile data setting is switched off
I'm planning to replace the phone but fear the problem exist across all Xperia since they have the same software.. This is my second Xperia SP. Can somebody replicate and maybe report to Sony?

If it was the master switch then your service provider showing data usage??
Check data usage also
Sticking the SIM into another phone makes the usage stop. So as turning off location data. Bug with Xperia range?
After I've installed the Cyanogen 11 4.4.2 ROM for Xperia sp, my mobile data hasn't been working at all. I can turn it on and off, but no symbol(H, 3g, 4g) appears on the signal icon. I've already tested every possible APN settings. I need your help!! Much appreciated !
Check APN or accespoints: Settings > Network and Wireless > Data/more etc..
Check at mobile networks and APN or Accespoints
If these are empty you need to add them manually, so check with your operator for the details..
already done that, still not working..
Enter airplane mode wait a few minutes reboot device and turn off airplane mode

Didn't work Q_Q. Could it be that I'm missing some sort of file for data connections??
Is your operator a virtual operator? Then you need to turn on data roaming! Android detects a virtual operator as "roaming" older versions of cm had the option of national data roaming but cm11 doesn't you won't have to pay more if you turn on roaming in your own country

Ok so I called my operator and turns out they hadn't registered my SIM number on 3G connections or something like that. Thanks tho!
Having the same problem
I tried the CM11 and AOSX, on both of them I am having the same problem. Though I have setted the APN up, the mobile data is not working. I tried the app Tweak APN but not worked either. Is there any fix about this issue or any solution that someone can help? Thanks.
PS: I am having an Xperia Sola

Hi,
I have recently bought a Z3 Compact.
I noticed that the wifi drops from time to time.
It still shows as connected but no data can be sent or received.
I have to disconnect and reconnect to the network so that I can continue to use.
My Samsung Note Edge had a similar problem and was solved through diabling Wifi Power Save.
Since Z3 don't dialer I could not enter Service Mode to disable that.
Is there any solve to this issue?
Thank you in advance.

If you use Stamina Mode, switch that off. You can go to settings>wifi>advanced settings and try and disable wifi optimisation

bump
if anyone can please help
its really troublesome to switch wifi on and off to make the connection work
thx in advance
Since updating to 5.1.1 (Stock, clean install, UB) I have connection issues. Usually happens when switching wifi off or leaving a wifi conected zone, mobile data does not switch on most of the time or it takes a long time to turn itself on. As far as I have read it seems to be a 5.1.1 bug ( see https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/nexus/o-UyGECxh2k )
Does anyone happen to know a fix?? Has anyone had a similñar issue on Xperia Z?
No one else has this issue…??
