I got the famous Balong bug - P8lite General

Hi
Something messed up during my firmware flashing (tried to upgrade to B188) and I got now build number "BalongC50B311"
I have tried flashing the system, recovery, cust and system. That did not fix it. I tried also dloading latest firmware which is b170.
My phone model is ALE-L21 and I could not find "vendor" folder thing anywhere. I saw people saying that it should fix it but I can't find it.
Thanks for helping

[Q] About Huawei P7-L11

Hi
i purchased p7 while ago and then while i search in the internet i find that there is many models of p7 and mine was p7-l11 and it's australian model but i'm not from australia
so this model seems that it doesn't receive any updates and it's still on EMUI 2.3 and probably will not get lolipop update also
is there a way to make it like global model (p7-l10 ) by install another ROM or something ? so it can receive the updates normally
thanks and sorry for my english.

You can flash the latest version manually, but I can't guarantee that you won't damage your device.
I think not much can go wrong as long as you don't change the kernel and have a backup of your current build (use CWM recovery > backup).

Probably only the CUST partition is different, but alas, there is no information whatsoever. If I'm not mistaken the Asian versions have the same hardware, so the number after the L should only mean that it's for another region, and that's all. There are a few ROMs made for the L01 here on the forum, and they are working on the L10, and vica versa. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't create hardware malfunction, so even if the software is buggy on the other variant if you have a backup, you can always flash the original.
First i would check if you have an unlocked bootloader .
When not unlock it by rooting with root genius.
The Kernel is for all models the same .
The different is the system , modem and cust partition.
So when you have one sim slot and one micro SD slot you can try it with the L-10 Software when you have dual-sim you have to try the China devices Software (L-5/7/9/0)
But i would recommend to flash a full update and not only the system partition
But flashing these Software from one on the other should not damege the device ..
But when you do this this youre deal, so don't blame me if something goes wrong...

If think your best bet is to ipdate with the three button method with the original bootloader and recovery. Download the full B609 ROM from here (click on Letöltés), put it in /sdcard0/dload (or on the SD card, doesn't matter), and update either through the system menu or by holding down all three buttons when booting. In case anything goes wrong (which it shouldn't), you can use the same method with the L11's ROM to downgrade.

Updating to the official ROMs is easy since there is a force update option. In your case it will still work and most likely will not cause any harm.
But now that I think of it, if you want to make a backup, you're out of luck. Well, mostly.
If you'd like to create a backup, you'd have to
unlock bootloader / flash an unlocked bootloader
flash recovery
backup your current ROM
All of the above can be done but you cannot flash a B609 ROM on top of a B133 base - you'd have to update with the recovery and bootloader you just lost to make a backup. If you don't have the original ROM's files, you cannot go back if anything goes wrong.
To sum it up:
you can easily update
you (probably) cannot make a backup
Decide for yourself it it's worth the minimal risk.

Well, since the L11's number seems to come from only being sold in Australia, and no hardware differences, the update should go without a hitch. But we can never know since nobody reported anything about it.
Now, just to be clear - L10 users have flashed L01 custom ROMs, and there seems to be no problems apart from the ROMs' bugs.
My opinion is that there will be no problems, but I am no expert as I have never heard of the L11 variant.

Ah, didn't think about the CUST partition - but yes, this is probably the only difference between the submodels. I you want to make sure you can return, see if your L11 has an update.app for the CUST partition. I remember distantly flashing these when upgrading to B602 (the beta of 4.4) and now when updating to the Lollipo beta.

Yes, the second one seems to me like a complete package. Don't know how to unpack the update.app, so we can't be sure. There is a thread though with an almighty CUST partition, that might help you - also, if you change the CUST, you can surely flash the ROM that' bund to your new CUST - so I think if you flash the international CUST with the international 4.4 ROM, then you can go back to the international B133 if aníthing goes wrong. Make sure you make a note of everything in your system information menu before doing anything.

Yes, you should first update to B133. Don't really know if it is necessary, mind you - but since that's the way he did it, I wouldn't wander off a beaten path The second step he makes is the update.app that modifies the CUST partition. If you flash that, I bet you can always roll back to B133 in the same thread.

how to flash a stock image?

I know that there are some threads over this topic, but there is nowhere a specific answer. I have currently Sokkoban's ROM, and I want to revert to the official build. Can someon provide me with the necessary files in order to flash a stock recovery? I found only this answer, but there are no available links for the files. I would appreciate if anyone could help me. I have ALE L21- dual european edition, running on custom rom based on C432B574.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: tried with the HuaweiUpdateExtractor with the UPDATE.APP file, and flashed the first 3 images (boot, recovery cust) but I get an error while trying to flash the system.img.

You are absolutely right. Although Sokkoban's ROM is really very good, you cannot go back to the official easily. Still din't try to flash another rom, like cm 11 and then go back to the official. If anyones does try it, he should let us know.

You need to flash the original recovery(which you already have). Then put dload folder in sdcard and upgrade manually. You might get BALONG bug (because this happened to me) so I recommend you to start from beginning( the very first firmware for your model/country). For me it was B120. It contained two dload folders one was the system and the other was vendor file. You need both files.

If you are on B052 (official) and did not have balong bug then I think you can update to emui 4.0/Android 6.0 without any issues.

By the way do you have nandroid backup of official rom? If yes restore it via twrp. This could save you a lot of time. The method I used isn't difficult but it takes time.
On sokoban's rom. Flash the original recovery (recommend that you extract it from the firmware you are going to flash).Use the oldest one (link given below) emui 3.1/Android 5.0 for dual sim
Now put dload file in sdcard/internal memory and upgrade the phone.
If you have balong bug put dload2(rename it to dload) folder in sdcard/ internal memory and upgrade.
Now later you may upgrade to Android 6.0/emui 4

No, I used TWRP backup.
When I tried to extract the images from an official ROM (I have done so many attempts that, I cannot remember which ROM I used), I was able to flash 3 out 4 files. The one I couldn't was the system. When I tried through classic (dload etc), It got stuck at 2% and would give me an error.
But that's all in the past. lol
At this moment, my phone is at the service center with no warranty cause my wifi adapter is not working. From what I've heard, such ptoblems, need mainboard replacement and I cannot afford it at this moment. So I am going to stuck with this phone till it's dead, and of course not going to install any ROM, just because I cannot update anything..... cheers!!!

then you can install the system.img withing recovery

IDEM!! COMPLETELY IDEM! I had the pra-lx1c55b105 too, and, after root, I have your same problems too! Please, someone help us!!!
nobody read the multiple thread about this problem ?
Sorry but it's really annoying. (it's not about you, nothing personnal
Your problem is related to a different version between the boot_root image and, the system partition...
You could try to update your phone to the latest firmware (so you have to configure the wifi and then check in the "about" page for an update)
If an update if available, then I think this will solve your problem.
And be very carefull, never install (apk or worse, flash a partition ) something if no version is specified
My friend had maked the update over Wi-Fi but after the download the flash in the recovery fails, why ? @ripp2003 can you link me where la located this theard ? Thanks a lot

But this topic is related to PR1-LX1C432B110 and this is the source of newesc.... (this topic got a lot of informations on how to find your firmware)
So right now, you need the exact version of the firmware : I think it's pra-lx1c55b105
-> Find it and download it with Huawei Firmware Finder
-> Extract the boot.img from the firmware with Huawei Firmware Extractor (or maybe you've done a copy before flash the boot_root.img ?)
-> fastboot flash boot boot.img
You 'll lost root but this way, I think you can recover your phone
If this doesnt work, I'm really sorry but, you have to wait for some developpers to make Rom....or, some special things for recover an official firmware.
I'm sorry, this situation is a bullsh**
Really Good luck

Even after doing a full wipe whith manual calling recovery ?

nobody read the multiple thread about this problem ?
Sorry but it's really annoying. (it's not about you, nothing personnal
Your problem is related to a different version between the boot_root image and, the system partition...
You could try to update your phone to the latest firmware (so you have to configure the wifi and then check in the "about" page for an update)
If an update if available, then I think this will solve your problem.
And be very carefull, never install (apk or worse, flash a partition ) something if no version is specified

Can you tell me what you did? You flashed the entire zip, or only the boot.img? And how? With twrp right?
Yes everything works. I did factory reset and the phone is back to default.
I extracted BOOT image and RECOVERY image with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
After that with I copied both BOOT and RECOVERY image in Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.
At last I've connected the phone to PC and flashed BOOT and RECOVERY image.
I've disconnected the phone booted in recovery did factory reset and after that phone booted normally.

Accidentally deleted my Huawei G Play Mini's OS...

Hello everyone, so today I tried installing lineageos on my g play mini, and while I was factory reseting using twrp, it actually deleted my OS, even though I'm fairly sure I didn't check internal memory... Anyway, my phone got completely wiped out, but I can access twrp recovery, and fastboot mode. Is there a way to get back to the stock ROM? I've been trying for hours, but I can't find a solution. There are no custom mods for this phone, even the twrp version I'm using is for the honor 4c. Any help would be appreciated

I tried that, it updates normally but it stops right before the end and it gets stuck
I also tried extracting the Recovery, Boot and Cust files from the UPDATE.app file, and flashing them, but it doesn't do anything.
When I try to install it via zip file from the original recovery menu, it fails instantly with the message "cust link file fail. please check if vendor/country is valid. Software install failed!"
:crying: I've been trying to solve this for the past three days straight.

I still had the one that came originally with it. Which is Android Kit Kat (4.4) if I'm not mistaken. I never changed it while my phone was alive. I tried flashing the 4.4 rom available in Huawei's official site, as well as a lollipop one, and a 6.0 one. None worked, unfortunately.

I'm not 100% sure, but here's what I did:
Downloaded an oeminfo zipped file, and flashed it through twrp. It was supposed to be for my model, but after flashing it successfully, I noticed my phone showed the "honor" logo, instead of the usual huawei one.
So after that, I downloaded the Kit Kat rom for Honor 4c, and extracted the following files from the UPDATE.app: boot, cache, cust, system, recovery.
Flashed them independently, and then I tried to turn on the phone, and it was working again, running Android Kit Kat. After that I've been able to update it to 6.0, EMUI4.0, through dload, local update method
this **** was scary but I pulled it off somehow. I have no knowledge whatsoever, this was pure trial and error for 5 days straight.
I should be able to install LineageOS now, don't you think?

If you had Android version higher than Android 5 and TWRP, you can download stock firmware with firmwarefinder (if it still exist, search in forums for it) and flash it in TWRP like any rom.

Did it help, what @glehel posted?
I want to know, because I want to provide this guide also for fixing problems like you have ... or had.
Use dload forced method with first before using scripts.
Just download the correct firmware for your device, if you know the firmware-version you had, use the exact one, because it was approved for installation:
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model
Extract the the update.zip and put the update.app into a folder called dload on your sdcard.
Start you phone while holding all 3 buttons, this will launch th dload process.
This way you maybe safe some time.

Is there a way to retrieve the exact name of the installed stock firmware? For my VTR-L09C432 there are multiple versions listed (like 360, 365, etc). Also I am wondering what's the difference between FullOTA-MF / OTA-MF / FullOTA-MF-PF, etc.

No, you can´t check your version, but if you choose an older firmware, you should be fine. Afterwards you can update to a newer version.
The only problem might be, if you already had oreo installed, then you should use it again for restore, because the partitionlayout changed from nougat to oreo.
All version named B1XX are Nougatfirmwares
All version named B3XX are Oreofirmwares.
Choose a FULLOTA for updates, the others are just incremental and won´t help you in your case.
To be exact you should use a FullOTA-MF-PV. The PV stands for public version and all other firmwares are just internal builds from huawei.

If you don't want to go back to stock firmware, you also have the option of custom roms such as Lineage OS or one of the others in this forum.
If you go with stock firmware, I suggest you make a Nandroid back-up before you flash TWRP. You can easily do this by booting into twrp instead of flashing (eg: fastboot boot twrp.img). After creating and copying the back-up to your PC, you can proceed with flashing twrp and never have to worry about the softbricking again =).
