Is there a way to wipe internal storage and flash stock while retaining an unlocked bootloader. If anyone is interested let me know. My phone is in immaculate condition and unlocked via sunshine. I want to wipe all my data, pics, etc. And return to stock but still unlocked to sell. Thanks in advance.

After you flash the stock rom, go into twrp and wipe Internal Storage. That's if you use a stock zip, anyway.

I am on stock just unlocked bootloader and rooted. Will simply relocking bootloader and unrooting help to get updates?or I need to reflash stock Rom?
I am not sure about this, but the only reason you can't do OTA's with the bootloader unlocked is because the unlocking procedure deletes some of the built-in apps in HTC Sense. The phone will check for these apps when it tries to update and fail if they are not present. There is a thread somewhere in XDA which tries to solve this issue of apps being deleted when unlocking the bootloader.
You have to flash stock Rom, stock recovery, then relock to receive OTAs. At least that has been the case in all other HTC phones. The HTC one might be different since a couple of apps that come with the phone are not in the system partition and get wiped when you unlock the bootloader.

OT: The removed apps can be reinstalled here.

Well I havent flashed any other Rom. Just wondering if after unlocking bootloader some apps disappear, does that mean I need to reflash stock Rom. Don't think that simply relocking bootloader will bring them apps back. Hope someone can confirm that
When you unlock the data partition is wiped. Some of the apps that the ota looks for are in that partition. So you either have to flash a stock Rom or restore those missing apps before you relock.

Granted, I'm basing this on the HTC Droid Incredible, nearly a three year old phone, but with us you just have to have the standard HTC apps that it checks for, and the stock recovery to flash it. You could keep the bootloader unlocked, since the unlocked bootloader can take the same commands as the locked one, it just doesn't check for signatures. Again, this is based on a different device, so it may or may not work.
Obviously a very stupid move as I was trying to clear up my HTC One's memory.
Does anyone know if there is a way to recover my data without rooting? Theoretically, my music/videos/photos should still be there right? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

If you cleared your sd card, that is it. That is the internal memory of the phone. Sorry

I need to know some things first. is your bootloader unlocked? Are you S-off? What edition of the phone do you have (dev, int., carrier branded, etc)? Can you get into bootloader and recovery on the phone?

My bootloader is NOT unlocked. I have a Sprint HTC One. I am S-On and I can get into bootloader/recovery on my phone.
Software version: 1.29.651.10
Android version 4.1.2
HTC Sense 5.0
Upon further research, I feel like if I tried to use some sort of recovery program I need S-Off/Root Access. I would NEED to have to wipe my phone in order to attain this.
-If I do a complete wipe, can I use a recovery program to possibly (slim chance I'm sure) recover the data?
-Is there a way I can somehow take a raw image of my current internal storage and possibly work with it? I feel like this would probably require root as well...

I see, but I would still like to see what kibmikey1 has to say!
It is approx ... impossible to recover your internal sd...
Title says it all really.
I previously had rooted my old HTC Wildfire S and that had a removable SD Card but with the HTC One M7, if I unlock the bootloader through HTCDev and flash a recovery etc, does this affect data on the /sdcard partition?
Will it get wiped? Cheers

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your device, after that though you can flash recoveries, rom's, kernels whatever without wiping your sd card.
So if your going to unlock backup your internal storage to your pc first. After you've unlocked you can copy it back. Then you can flash a rom or or whatever without losing it :good:

like already said, /data is wiped during the bootloader unlocking process so yes /sdcard will be wiped because /sdcard is a simlink to /data/media/0.
And don't forget about /data/preload (preloaded HTC apps and weather animations) which will also be wiped thus preventing the installation of future ota updates and obviously, you won't have HTC apps anymore (flashlight, calculator...) on your phone nor weather animations in the weather app. (unless that folder is restored after the bootloader unlock).
AT&T has not released Marshmallow for the Nexus 6 so I'm ready to root and flash my way there, but, I'd like to make sure I get future updates. Can you tell me if there are any flaws in this process I should know about? Is there any way to do this that will not erase user data? Thanks in advance.
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Root phone
3. Install recovery
4. Flash latest factory image
5. Lock bootloader?
If I do this will I then receive future update?
Is your bootloader locked? If it is I'm sorry you can't because when you unlock its going to wipe your device,if you want to do it
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash factory image
3. I don't recommend it but if you must relock bootloader only after you verify it boots and operates correctly
Other steps are not necessary

Are you saying I do not need to root to flash the factory image? Do I need to lock the bootloader in order to receive updates?

if you root the device then flashing the factory image will unroot it. If you want to preserve ota ability and get to marshmallow then take a adb backup of all your apps and backup your internal storage files to your computer, unlocking your bootloader will wipe out the device to factory condition, flash the latest marshmallow image MMB29S, restore your adb backup to get your apps and data back, drag and drop your other files back into internal storage. DO NOT! relock your bootloader because that will wipe everything again and you don't need to be locked to get an update and if anything were to go wrong down the road with mods or root or whatever having a locked bootloader on nexus 6 or newer is basically an easy way to hard brick your device since you have to enable OEM Unlock inside the OS to unlock your bootloader and whenever you'd need an unlocked bootloader to fix something then the device probably won't boot. If you're worried about security then keep in mind that if you have an encryption password set (booting the phone asks you to put in your lockscreen code), even if someone pulls all your files off your phone they can't access them without your password.

correct bootloader does not need to be locked to recieve ota
Hey,
is it possible to view the bootloader unlock code when my bootloader is unlocked already? The reason behind it is that I acquired it back when it was possible, however didn't save it anywhere. My phone is unlocked, running TWRP and rooted. Now I want to reset the device and start fresh, and in case this goes wrong somewhere in the process and relocks my bootloader for any reason I want to save it beforehand, in case it is possible at least.
Couldn't find anything on Google because all that comes up are tutorials on how to get the code on a locked device. And my hope is that it's easier with an already unlocked device, hence the question.
Thanks in advance!
Since there's nobody answering, another question to push the thread: If I boot into TWRP now and wipe the system, data and cache partitions, then install a new ROM - let's say the unofficial LinageOS build - is there any chance the bootloader relocks for some reason? Or am I good to go as long as I don't reboot to bootloader and relock it using fastboot?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't think it will relock your bootloader.....but toi certainly received the code by mail so maybe you can check your box history or contact the "seller"...?
Can't find the mail anymore, unfortunately :/ I've changed mail providers without any backups so it's possible the mail went to an address I don't have access to anymore.
