Hi,
I have a Note 5 [MODEL SM-N920C], my problem started after updating to Marshmallow. It started with my Bluetooth headset intermittently disconnect from the Note 5 and then noticed that I am connected to a wifi but cannot browse or do anything that needs internet connection.
I tried to research an saw a mention of turning off the Bluetooth to get the WiFi working and it did work. Now the problem is I am stuck with the option of having only 1 (WiFi or Bluetooth) being on as the issue comes back when I use them at the same time.
I tried to reset all network settings to no avail.
Hope someone can help me with my issue.
I did a factory data reset and it work for some time and the problem is now back, :crying:
Is there a way to roll back to Lollipop without tripping Knox?

Have you disabled anything? It may even be something you installed.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply, I am also thinking that it might be software related. I am tempted now to do a factory reset and install back the apps that I have 1 by 1 to see which is causing the issue. I might probably try not install anything first to see if it works Ok (probably for 2 to 3 days) then do the 1 by 1 installation of the apps.

I have successfully flashed my phone with the CyanogenMod-4.2.4 rom, enabled WIFI and can browse the internet.
BUT, when I try to activate my Gmail through the activation wizard with WIFI enabled I get the following error message: “Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.”
I am using a T-Mobile pre-paid account, which means I don't have a data plan, so activation over WIFI is my only option.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Frustrating is more like it. I have spent days search this forum and the web for an answer.
I started out with CyanogenMod-4.2.3 installed and I thought that might have been the problem so last night I flashed 4.2.4 and still have the same problem.
I can browse the internet so I have a hard time believing it is a connection problem. I did come across a post earlier this week where someone was having issues with his WPA2 connection. Later today I will change the connection type and see if that fixes the problem.
If you can think of anything else I might try that would be great.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I changed my WIFI settings to WEP and WPA but still got the same error. Any more suggestions would be great.
The problem is probably due to gapps failing
keep trying and maybe it will go through

I finally got it to work and for those who may run across this thread with the same issue here what I did:
I ran across a thread on a different forum that stated the reason I was having the problem was because I skipped the initial activation process when the phone was first turned on. Well with CM4.2.4 and other rooted roms there is an option to skip the initial activation process, which I did.
So I went back and reread the other threads about how to activate your phone over wifi and they all state the same thing, you will need root access, which allows you access to execute debug commands from your PC to control your phone.
So I did a hard reset and re-flashed CM4.2.4. Then after I rebooted my phone I followed the instruction on this thread http://modmygphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9471 to turn on the wifi. Once the wifi was on I disconnected my phone from my computer and proceeded to activate it, which worked like a charm.
Early last week I ran an OTA update that took my phone 4.3 and 3.24.531.3. After the update the WiFi was connecting to wireless networks but was not receiving an internet. I tried changing the phone name to "HTC One" like many others have done and that didn't fix the problem. So I unlocked, rooted, and flashed a custom ROM thinking that would fix it. I was still experiencing the same problem.
So last night I relocked and ran an RUU to take me back to completely stock so I could run the next OTA update to take me to 4.4.2 and 4.19.531.10. But since I was not able to access any WiFi I had to use internet pass-though connected to my laptop. Even after the 4.4.2 update, I'm experiencing the same WiFi problem, but now I can't turn WiFi on at all. I have not tried re-unlocking and rooting yet either.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?

I thought it may have been router settings at first too since I was at work when it first started happening, but it does the same thing at home as well.
I'll try changing it to something else again. Thanks for your reply

Yes, I understand that. I've done it before. Last tine it was named "Android_xxx" with some numbers and a letter I think. I tried that when I was one 4.3 and it didn't solve anything
First I have to get the WiFi to even turn on at all now
Just unlocked, rooted, and flashed with ViperOne 5.0.0 and I'm still experiencing the same problems. What's weird is that after the first boot, when you are asked to connect to a wireless network, my home network shows up, so that tells me the WiFi is on when it boots, but when I tried to connect, it failed.
Then once I was finished with the initial setup, WiFi won't turn back on, even if I go into the settings and try to turn it on manually.
Hello
So I am running stock, unencrypted, and can connect to WiFi perfectly at home but not at my work.
This issue has been since I first got the phone, so even fully stock and encrypted the issue was there. I am now running sensei kernel and the issue remains.
I work at a cellphone store so we regularly connect and disconnect to WiFi, and all other phones have no issues connecting or disconnecting.
On mine, it saves the network, says connecting, then goes back to saved.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone able to fix it?
Haven't used a stock ROM yet, but replaced my modem to 5.0.1 modem too just to be safe, and didn't help.
wow

Do you use a case on phone?? Mine works perfectly so far on various networks. I am stock and still unrooted. Maybe a factory reset+

When I unencrypted, it involved user data wipe, so I figured that's the factory reset attempt. I have a lot of files on my phone so resetting often is a hassle for me right now, but I'm wondering if this is an issue worthy of a warranty exchange?

Even exchange means data and file loss so either way is going to cost you time and hassle.

Factory reset or phone? exchange will both cost you some data loss. What wifi service do they use at your work? Do you have the multi user option set up on your device?
HI, I've been having Internet/DNS issues ever since the QJB update. The phone will show LTE signal but there is no data flowing and voice calls don't work (no dial tone). Webpages on the phone and connected hotspot PCs will show a DNS error. Toggling data doesn't help. Only restarting the phone will make data work again.
Multiple attempts at factory resetting, provisional resetting, updating profile/prl and flashing the QJB update in ODIN didn't help.
UPDATE: Issue seems to be related to the update. Downgrading firmware is not possible as far as I know (Odin throws an error message). I had to send the phone back to Samsung for repair (took a week), and all they did was send it back with the old software QI5. Now I'm afraid to update the software.
UPDATE2: Voice also does not work. No dial tone.

I thought it was related to the hotspot but it still happened when I was restoring apps right after a factory reset. Multiple attempts at factory resetting, updating profile/prl and flashing the QJB update in ODIN didn't help. I'm afraid getting a replacement phone won't help either.
I am beginning to think it's an app related issue but am not sure. I just did a full wipe and am slowly reinstalling my apps to test and do a process of elimination.
Ever since the update the only other issue I had was with the Samsung Gear app crashing the phone when it connected to my Gear S3 and wants to turn on WiFi while I am using the hotspot (it would make the phone unusable unless I agreed to turn off hotspot to turn on WiFi). for some reason the S3 wants to turn on WiFi even though I disabled all WiFi settings in the Gear app.
Are apps able to cause Internet/DNS problems? Has anybody had this issue? TIA

Profile update? PRL update?
Yes tried those
Experiencing the same issues after Sprint rolled out OTA update 'N950USQU2BQJB' along with slower speeds and lag in apps like YouTube and Hulu.
The most glaring difference for me has been terrible battery life since the update.
Have you noticed anything different with your battery life and on screen time that is out of the usual?
Funny you guys say that. Mine does the same after that update too. If I toggle it to air mode. When I turn it back off it will not establish any network. Will have the x and stuck searching for service. It's about every other day. Mine will show LTE and act like all is good. But no data. Done the profile prl updates. That never fixed the issue either.
Software version
N950USQU2BQJB
I am also having issues after this update. Data stalls and transactions constantly have to be refreshed to get something to load. Does anyone know how to use Odin to roll back to another update before this one?

I may have gotten somewhere by using DNS Manager to utilize openDNS.... Trying it now and waiting for longer use results but so far so good

Is there a way to ODIN back to an earlier update that won't break KNOX?
Ah, so it is related to the update. I thought I was the only one and that my phone was defective.
I tried rolling back in Odin but it gives an error. It's been stated that you can't downgrade the firmware after taking the update.
I sent it back to Samsung for repair and they sent me back a phone with the old software version N950USQU1AQI5. Way to go Samsung for not fixing the problem but covering it up. It was a hassle being without a phone for a week.
Now I know not to take the update. WiFi calling plus was nice but what's the point if your data doesn't work half the time?
Hi, so my note 9's wifi keep dropping so many times every day/night. Sometimes, its connected but says internet not available. My mobile data turns on automatically bcz of this. And if I try to connect the wifi again, I have to go closer to wifi modem. My sisters note 9 doesn't have this issue. Both the notes have same software and same wifi connected. Any help would be appreciated.

A factory reset might help. Just back up first. Shouldn't take long to get back up and running

I was thinking to reflash just modem? What do you think?
Try wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery mode. That should help
