Did anyone else just cut the tab off the top right corner of the factory screen cover an just leave it on? I am using this case
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WU4ZGO/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
With that case you can't even tell the protector is there.
Lol guess I wasn't the only one to do this.

Mine is still on as well, but only until the real protector is delivered this week.
I kept it on for a few weeks until my SGP protector came.
Anyone else experience this? I actually put mine into a screen protector and case the first day I got it. Popped it out yesterday and found the bezel scratched to high heaven. I hate piano black plastic.
I think the case traps dust under there that grinds it away worse, but I can't imagine it fairing well naked for very long.
Edit: only had this thing since the 9th.

I have never had mine in a regular case. I do have one of those leather "pocket" style cases I slide it in and out of when I have got it in my jeans. Mine is as nice as the day I got it I think. I also put a screen protector on day 1.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
I have had a Skinomi protector and Trident Aegis case on my phone from the first 15 minutes of owning my X. I am a machinist so my phone frequently sees metal shavings and coolant from my hands on a regular basis. My phone still looks brand new from launch day when I take my case off. The mesh over the external speaker does wonders as every few days I have to blow off some of the finer shavings. And every other week I take the case off to clean out the very little dust that gets in it. I would suggest a different case if you are having cosmetic issues.

I had the black model and after 3 days I noticed a couple of nicks on the bezel myself. I take perfect care of my devices and it hadn't been bumped or anything. I swapped it for the white model that way it doesn't show and scratches or dust.Still looks brand new after a few weeks.
My Moto X has fallen out of my lofted bed (~7ft high) 3 times now, and all that's happened is that a tiny little nick in the bottom bezel. nothing else. no screen cracks, dents, anything! This phone is built like a tank!
I've had mine for about 3 weeks, no case, just a screen pro. Only damage I have is from when I accelerated hard in my truck and my phone flipped out of my mount, it flew out flipping and the bottom of the phone hit the rim of a red bull can... It left a small dent/nick On the back portion of the bezel :'(
Bought a better mount and since then haven't had any other signs of wear.

So is anyone using their phone without a protector and do you have any scratches yet? I remember using the original galaxy S for an year without one and I sold it with basically perfect screen (maybe some micro scratches). So how about the G2, do you thing it wiol scratch easily if kept in pockets?
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I couldn't find a protector which fits properly so I'm running naked. No scratches here in almost 6 months. But I'm rather careful with all my phones. Phone always goes in an empty pocket.
after my Gnex got scratches from my keys (and I tried my hardest not to keep them in the same pocket) I got one for my G2. The Zagg hd is good if you have a case since the parts not covered are covered by the case
No screen protector and have only 1 little scratch almost invisible when you forget about it.

Been naked for 2 months and not a single scratch. Had my S2 for almost 3 years and only got 1 scratch.
So I guess it's a matter of luck then. I'll think about it.

This is my first phone that I decided to go "naked" with. I am really careful and keep it in my pocket with no keys, change, etc. Unfortunately I did get one 1" scratch on the screen, so this "puppy" will scratch.
I removed the protector as it wasn't applied properly. I'm going to put a protector again, but it really feels much smoother without one. The funny thing is my Canon digital cameras both have 3" glass screens and no protectors and yet no scratches.

Carried a note 2 without screen protector in an OtterBox for a year, 1 small scratch in top right corner.
(had something else in pocket with phone - this is a no no.)
Carrying G2 for 2 months no case or screen protection, but I do recommend a case without screen protector.
the choice is yours, its a piece of expensive candy.
and so is flashing twrp, roms and so on.
I used to use zagg but didnt like the feel of it so I having been running my phone naked for the past few months. So far I only have noticed tiny hairthin scratches which arent a big deal for me.
I am considering getting a tempered glass screen protector since it will obviously feel like glass.
i never use it , my nexus one and samsung s3 still dont have any scratch until now..and i hope my g2 screen do same thing for me.
the scratch usually will happen on oleophobic layer of the screen..and not actually sratch your gorilla glass

I got exactly the same situation. One scratch but almost 1,5cm long. It seems i need to forget about it still haven't found out when and where it happened. I think GGlass was better on my Samsung S2. I used it for almost 2yrs without any screen protector and no single scratch.
I haven't used one for three months now. No scratches. I treat my phone better than my ol lady though.

My old Galaxy S and Optimus 2x never got any scratches being Gorilla Glass 1, but Ive heard many with Gorilla Glass 2 and 3 are getting scratches more easily, so since reading scratch stories One X, GS3 and other forums Ive started using a screen protector.
I have a few unnoticeable scratches.
I reapplied my screen protector no bubbles this time, seems like gg2 is not as durable. My galaxy S was indestructible. My sg3 was POS with gg2, so probably the same here. Thinking of some screen protector that feels like glass. Any suggestions?

Hey guys and gals, I have my 5X for a little over a month now and since the day I got it, I installed a tempered glass screen protector on it. At first there were no bubbles/spots, but now I'm starting to notice a little bubble (like it's peeling off) at the top left corner, near the front camera. Was casually talking with a friend about how much we enjoy our 5Xs when he said that his screen protector was coming off from the top left corner as well. He showed me his 5X, with a pretty big "bubble" under the screen protector with the size of a fingertip, again at the top left corner. So I was thinking is it just ours protectors that bad (mine is unbranded chinese for $1 and his is a branded $10-15 one) or just the 5X is unnoticeable uneven and its common to have the screen protector peeling off after months of usage?
P.S. Comming from a Xperia M2, I applied a cheap $1 glass protector 2 years ago and it still as good as new.

Yep. I just removed my screen protector for that reason. It looked ugly. Will go protector less for a while, Try to break the psychological barrier. With Gorilla Glass 3 and above there is no point really for them anyway.
Do you have a case on it? I would guess maybe something else bumped it? I haven't had any problems. Either way they are so cheap, just replace it.
I had a screen protector on it, but I didn't like how it felt, so I've only been using a case now.
Never had this issue with IntelliGlass tempered glass on my 5x.

All depends on how well you applied it. I've had my cheap Pleson on since release back in October.

Tempered glass for me too. Top right corner has very slight peel back. My guess is the screen rolls off very slightly at the corners. Barely more noticeable than a fingerprint smudge so I've let it be. The rest of it is flawless so I'll leave well enough alone.
I agree with going protector-less. On my N4 before this and on my N5x, I only had a regular bumper case. I never had anything beyond a superficial tiny scratch on the N4 towards the end of it's life with me, which was three years. If you're not carrying it somewhere with keys or similar, you'll be fine. If I have to carry it in a bag where something can scratch it, I put it in a lens pouch that I got with my sunglasses.

Its not only for scratch protection but break protection. In theory the tempered glass breaks before the actually display's glass. Kind of like a crumple zone in cars which absorb the force. I've seen videos of people peeling the protector off and it's fine underneath. However, I'm sure with enough force you could possible break both but I haven't seen videos of that.

The screen protector breaks first because it's not Gorilla Glass.
I think it only makes the device heavier.

Gorilla Glass isn't that great on break protection:

Breaks easily on the S7.
Now something like this would've probably helped a lot:

I dunno. The only time I broke a screen was on the N4 when hiking and climbing over something so that I bend the phone in my back pocket. Or the N5 when i stumbled down the stairs and landed on my ass, nearly breaking the phone in half (again in my back pocket).
There's no reason for protectors, screen is fine as is.
Also, my biggest issue with screen protectors is that they get more oily and more fingerprint smudge than the screen does (depends on manufacturer though... my OnePlus One for example was more oily than screen protectors.)

So in your case, keeping your phone in the back pocket is the issue. LOL. I take having to wipe my screen a little more often (Which I don't think I'm really doing) than having to deal with a cracked display.

I used glass protector, it peeled off from sides and got very smudgy then I replaced it with a cheap plastic one and it gives basic scratch protection while being cleaner than glass one. Secondly the plastic one doesn't peel off like glass protectors. I have ordered Supcase for drop protection.

using a chinese tempered glass for 4 months now.
great condition just like in the first day of applying it.
+ I'm using a silicone shell, chinese noname brand of course
Thanks everyone for the feedback! I will order few 1$ protectors and apply them till i get perfect results
Is anybody in the same boat?

I just have a clear skin on mine covering the back, sides, top, and bottom. No issues even with a drop or two so far. The screen is naked and surprisingly not even 1 scratch since release day. My mate 20 pro screen had a bunch of scratches on the screen within one week. Glad to see this is not an issue on this phone.
It's too slippy to use naked so also using a cover on back and sides but not the screen.
Dropped it several times so far (more than any other phone) and it's fine.

Used it naked for 2 weeks and got a huge deep scratch on the middle of the screen. Back glass is ok never had an issue but front glass is scary sensitive.
Front glass got micro scratches when I remove loca glue tempered glass with a card. Very sensitive and prone to scratches. But scratches are hidden under the newly installed loca glue tempered glass. In case anyone wondering, I am using Zeelot UV Glue TG with UAG plasma Ash.

I never wear clothes when using my P30 Pro.
I'm using the phone naked. Only before I put it into my pocket, I put it into a sock (will get that one very soon).

Before the nano liquid application, I have some minor scratches. Haven't noticed them after. Some people told me that after 6 months, I should apply another if I want scratch protection to the fullest. I honestly don't know if that is true.
I do. Never found the cover that didn't annoy the crap out of me. So I decided to go commando ever since the first Xperia Z.
Yes, it's too slippy. Even worse, it's quite heavy when you use it lying down - couple of times I fell asleep and it landed on my face even.
Fell on the carpeted floof a couple of time from the couch, but so far not a scratch.
I'm not using it naked when in public places, don't feel like getting arrested for public nudity.
On a serious note, yes i'm using it without any form of cover on the display and backside. It's a bit scratched here and there but it's not too bad.
