so yesterday i swapped SIM cards from iphone 6s and note 5 but the issue is that i'm idiot , because i have inserted the iphone 6s sim tray in the note 5 by mistake :crying: :crying:
then i have gently removed the iphone 6s tray from the note 5 and everything was fine and didn't look like i broke something in the sim card reader , but after inserting the right tray with the sim , my note 5 didn't recognize it , that moment i knew my life turned upside down and became like hell ! , i've been searching in the last 2 days for a solution but i didn't find any tutorial on youtube , i didn't even find sim card reader for sale !!! , i don't even think that i can replace the sim card reader with a new one even if i had the chance to get a new sim card reader because the note 5 sim card reader isn't similar to the other sim card readers
please help meeeeeee , i'm confused i can't even sleep i keep thinking about what would happen if this problem stays for ever ! AND i didn't forget that i'm stupid
thank you
Hi,
I'm Daniel from Brazil,
I've read your history and I'm afraid passing by the same problem,
Early days I update my note 5 for 6.0.1 Indian ROm from SamMobile, and my phone didn't conect on operator network any more, just sinalize Emergency Call Only, So, I thought this was a problem with my new Rom and Since saturday try 12 Rom/s 2 customs and 10 differents between 5.1..1 and 6.0.1.
And them I finally read your topic and came to my mind that before update I change Sim Card from my Note 5 and put by the wrong side the Sim Tray.
I'm thinking that my Sim Card Reader can be broke.
I will sinalize this problem for the TI support tha is analyzing my phone.
Thanks for this topic and i try to see if this can be fixed.
I could say to will try to find a person that fix MotherBoards and can make a laser welding.
In Brazil there is sim tray note 5 to sell:

i just was wondering if i can install dual sim card reader in my note 5 , knowing that it came with 1 sim card reader exactly like your's
and by the way i don't know what makes the single sim reader more expensive than the dual sim reader ! ,
on ebay:
single sim reader reaches 17$
dual sim reader reaches 5$ with free shipping !
what an awkward logic .....
fixed it costed me about 150$

Hello to all,
before u start saying to search the forum, i did. But havent find solution for my problem so i opened a new thread.
So the problem is that my tytn register some sim cards but some dont, its like a random thing. My old sim card and new one works, now i tried with new sim card but from a nother network, and it says no sim, i try with my old sim from the same network and it works. I tested with about 10 random sim cards and 6 out of 10 works, no matter how old they are and from what network they are. I flashed my phone, tried new roms, cleaned sim card slot, but nothing worked.
If u can help me, i will be verry grateful
P.S: Sorry for my bad english
out of the 10 sims, 6 work...correct? lets call the sims that work numbers "1 through 6" and lets call the sims that don't work numbers "7 through 10".
i would say it is a hardware problem IF AND ONLY IF even one of "1 through 6" STOP working or if even one of "7 through 10" START working.
in other words, it is NOT a hardware problem if "1 through 6" work consistently and "7 through 10" fail consistently.
if you determine that it is a hardware problem, then try inserting a piece of paper behind the sim for an extra tight connection or search for bad/loose "main flex cable" and/or "sim assembly".
if you determine that it is not a hardware problem, search about possible known incompatibilities of the kaiser with certain networks' sim cards.
Thanks for advice...i fixed the problem by bending the metal that holds sim card.
But i still dont get it how that fixed things cause sim cards one that worked they worked every time and othet way around with non working sim cards...but ok... now they all work...
nice to hear your problem is solved!
i believe the sim cards that didn't work were probably just "thinner" than the ones that worked. so bending the metal pushes the thin sim cards tighter against the connectors. inserting a piece of paper behind the sim card has the same effect, and it is one of the first suggestions you will read about in most threads about sim card problems.
anyway, congratulations, and its nice to see that you updated your thread with information that helps "close" the issue...perhaps you can change the title of this thread to indicate that the issue was "SOLVED" so that future readers can benefit from it.
i've try to find similiar problem and i can't find the answer...
guys my kaiser can't read my sim card
i lose it when i use android, so i use wm 6.0 again...
the signal got well for one night, but since this morning it never read my simcard...
i've use mtty, change radio, use wm 6.1, wm 6.5 and it still can't read my simcard...
can anybody help me with this problem??
about my english please forgive me, i'm still learning...
thanks guys for your help...
Hey, I can't really help you. But the same has happened to me a few times: every time, it eventually started to work again after some time. Could be a few hours, could be a week - so be patient. I have no idea what the problem is, but at some point it started working again after I put someone else's SIM in my phone then switched back (both SIMs were of the same provider). Good luck!
you are not alone
I have exactly same problem with you.. since 2 days ago my kaiser won't read any sim card.
Actually it had happened a few weeks ago, my kaiser fell from my hands and hit the floor. After that, my kaiser stop reading sim card, but after one night it started to works again just like Cerberus_tm said.
2 days ago it happened again I really careless.. but this time until today, my kaiser still won't recognize any sim card.
I have done some reading in a few old thread about this case. I'm not sure myself but based on those thread, I can conclude that the problem could be because of the sim card doesn't make contact with card holder, or there is a problem with the flex cabble that connecting our sim card holder.
FYI, if you are interested in fixing the flex cabble, the price is about 700.000 IDR here in bandung.

Fixed my sim card no work issue
It was intermittently working so I knew I was close and yes the poor Tytn II 8925 has been dropped about 1/mth thanks to the stupid sprint magnet case that always seems to let go after I get up from a chair. I tried raising the gold contacts that touch my sim card, that did NOT work. I tired putting one layer of masking tape on my sim card, that did NOT work either. I even got a new sim card from my carrier $10, that did NOT work. Finally I tired pushing down on the steel house that holds the sim card, that worked!
Just put a piece of paper on the back of sim card while inserting it into the sim holder, my kaiser suddenly started acting like this, I slid a piece of paper at sim's back and now its working pitch perfect
Sorry Sim card error back (not fixed)
Seems to work after battery removal and 3 restarts, getting ready to dump the phone.... It works for a couple of hours, then all of sudden sim card can't be read....can't live like this.

I'm on a trip and just purchased a Xiaomi MI5. I have been setting it up with wifi and putting all of my favorite apps on it but thought that I would wait until I get back home before I put my sim card in and start using the phone every day. First impressions are very good but I would like to know why does it have two sim card slots and can you use it with one sim card? Where I purchased the phone they spoke little English so they couldn't answer my question. Thanks.

It is a dual sim phone. You can choose to put 2 sim cards in. Or use it with just one.
My devices sometimes cannot read the sim card, and some times it can. No matter what sim I use, what ROM I use, and I've even tried another sim card reader, but the problem seem to be something else.
Anyone experienced this?
I've been looking for a way to emulate a sim card, like a soft sim solution, but it seem this is not easy..
Maybe it's time to let the old m7 retire...
Anyway, thanks to all contributors in this community, it's been awesome. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Maybe the sim card isn't making a good contact when inserted in the tray, A few ppl got a similar issue and used paper to shim the sim card (not recommended since your sim tray can get stuck). I would try another sim first...

Yes, that's a common issue. The first steps was to use a little tape on the sim, second step was to try another sim, third step was to open the device and take out the sim reader, clean it with ethanol, check every pin and so on, then I tried another sim reader, but the problem still remains.
I too have the same problem, of signal on and off. I think the device detected the SIM card as it asked for PIN to unlock. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* to choose WCDMA only / preferred, but still same problem. So, did you retire the beautiful phone of yours?

Since not even replacing the sim reader solved the problem, it can no longer be used as a phone.
And anyway, the battery is getting seriously old, so when my dogs destroyed my remote control, the good old HTC one m7 now have a new life, filled with joy and happiness.
Anymote app is nice, and m7 are now a media control hub in my living room.
Since April 29 2013 this device have improved my life quality, with the good help from this great community on XDA.

Less root/ROM(s) that address this, you're SOL.
It's been a thing since about June of this year, starting w/an update to the S9/S9+ lineup & of course,Samsung included it in the Note 9.
