Is there a native rsync client for android? - Moto X Q&A

Hi,
We previously used the 'rsync for android' app to backup the phone to one of our linux boxes. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that app is downloadable anymore from the store (we reset the phone). Is there a native android rsync client we can use? Believe it or not, a google search has not been very helpful (yet).
If not, what do you suggest is the best and easiest method to perform weekly backups from android to linux? By the way, we are not rooted.
Thank you!

I downloaded the apk from apkmonk - sorry, not allowed to post the link as I´m a new user...
(apkmonk.com / app / eu.kowalczuk.rsync4android /)
... and installed it via the "APK Installer" app.
Wanted to continue with rsync4android because it is working great (still with Android 6.x) and due to the Tasker integration.

Can't find/install Talk To Me

I'm using Modaco 2.8 and for some reason I can't find or install the Talk To Me application.
If I search the marketplace, nothing is found. If I scan the QR Code that's here:
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.info-fidogames-apps-talktome-zwnB.aspx
...then I see the following message:
Code:
There are no matches in Android Market for the search:
pname:info.fidogames.apps.talktome
...
Can anyone else install this? If so, any ideas why the app is not available for me?

You will only be able to see the application in Android Market and install it if you have an Android 1.6 compliant phone since text-to-speech feature was added in 1.6. Application would be useless without text-to-speech.
So if you think it worth the effort update to a Android 1.6 compliant Android version.

Where can I get Google Maps and HTC PDF Viewer?

Hi
I flashed SenseHero 2.2 ROM which is a pretty good Android 2.1 flash. Unfortunately, it comes without Google Maps and native HTC PDF viewer. Where can I get this apps from? I could not get any answer on SenseHero forums.
Thanks.
You can download Maps from the market.
Also running SenseHero

Thanks for the apk but I get "Application not installed" error even though I enabled unknown sources in application settings.
It's strange I can find Google Maps on Androlib site but it does not appear in Market search. Does Google restrict application based on client country?

Yes some countries do not get all apps. But there is something called Market Enabler,... Have a look for that.
And try these again for PDFViewer,... Put both in the same folder and then try to install again.
Let me know how it goes.

The new files give me the same error. I also tried to install Market enabler and its apk cannot be installed either. Seems like the project is outdated, the authors say they don't support the latest Market version.
I followed these instruction: http://strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk which say additional libraries should be installed. After I put the libraries in the right place the application installed OK but it won't start. So I guess I will be needing the correct PDFViewer version (for Android 2.1). If anyone has it, please...

[Q] How do I install apps not supported from the Play Store?

Hello everyone,
I recently rooted my KF HD 8.9 and installed the Play Store. All is well and most of the apps I want installed without an issue.
However there's one app that I swear by that isn't "supported on this device". Chrome.
I ended up sideloading an APK I grabbed from the web but that's neither ideal and it's not a current version.
My question is:
Is there a way to bypass the "not supported" message via an app like Market Enabler?
OR
Is there another (I'd imagine legal) way to obtain the current APK from an alternate website?
Not sure if this will help you but I'll share my method. What I do is just download whatever app I need to my SGS1 and back it up with Titanium Backup. Then, I mount it to my PC and pull the .apk out of the TitaniumBackup folder and side load it. I did this with Nova Launcher and HD Widgets and so far everything is working wonderfully.

Thank you for your response!
Unfortunately this is my only Android device.
But thank you for the suggestion.

Install the 1mobile market app; it keeps track of the last version and do the upgrade just like google play.

It will not help because it will redirect you into Google play
Apktop.com
Since chrome is free then this is legal

Nope, the 1mobile market app does the upgrade by itself.
It even upgrades sideloaded apps
btw... it will mark the kindle skype app as outdataded, do not, i repeat do not substitute the kindle skype with the market skype.

Hi,
Android 2.1 doesn't support the newest facebook app, and you can't really use Facebook in a webbrowser because of too old certificates in 2.1 (You will get certificate errors). Try:
1. Read much articles about rooting, flashing, moding and and and...
2. Search online for a user-friendly rooting guide for the X8
3. Root phone
4. Search for a user-friendly guide for installing ClockworkMod on your device
5. Install ClockworkMod
6. Search a stable and fast Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) ROM which will work on stock kernel (for example: GingerDX)
7. Install it via CWM (Read in the ROM thread how to flash it)
8. Make sure your date is right
9. Search for Facebook in Google Play
Good luck, Androthan

[HELP] Built-in Updater for Non-Market Android App

I have developed an android app using android studio. Now the problem is that i won't be publishing the app to any markets eg. google play store, and so want to integrate an update function in my app, so that it periodically checks for and updated version of the app from my server and prompts the user to download and install the newer version of the app. i am really new to android coding and couldn't find anywhere how to achieve this function. The user should also be able to click a button to check for an update manually. All this needs to be done without root.
How do i code this function?
Please Help!!
