I have a note 5 that was purchased through bell a couple months ago and I had flashed with a custom 5.1 kernel and rooted.
Since marshmallow came out I restored to stock 5.1 and factory restored. I've noticed that myself and many other people are experiencing deep sleep issues after rooting their gs6/note5.
I've been searching online for over a week and cant seem to find the solution.
Do I go back to 5.1 with a custom kernel and root? or is there a kernel I can flash for marshmallow?

I know, I know, there are a ton of posts by people asking how to return to stock. My situation is quite peculiar though.
I was part of the Motorola Feedback Network and I got to test 5.1 Lollipop on my XT1053 along with maybe 100 other people a few months. I was quite fortunate, but I felt like messing around and I flashed CM12.1. Now that 5.1 is available for everyone, I want to go back since CM has a cell radio battery drain bug that isn't present in stock.
So here's the problem:
I am unable to return to 4.4.4 to receive the OTA. Because I was already on Motorola's 5.1, my bootloader, motoboot and other important files were all upgraded to 5.1 and I can't downgrade. I tried flashing them using fastboot but no dice. Thankfully, I had a back up of CM12 or else my phone would be bricked.
I tried downloading a flashable OTA but it won't install because it's expecting me to come from 4.4.4, not 5.1.
I think what I would need is a generic 5.1 zip for the XT1053 in order to return to stock, but what do you think?
Like I said, I have the CM12 back that restored just fine so my phone is functional so I'm in no hurry. Thanks for any help!
So recently I flashed some Marshmallow roms and i missed my xposed so i went back to lollipop. After noticing some smoothness loss, I then flashed stock lollipop and still have issues.
Has anybody else had this problem? If so, do you have any solutions? Thanks!

That happened to me too when I went back to Lollipop a few days ago for the exact same reason. I tried everything and nothing could match the smoothness and/or battery life of Marshmallow. I said screw it and flashed 6.0 a few hours ago. That's the only solution I found.
Hi all,
I am just wondering if anyone has come across this issue.
I recently updated my old Z1 to Lollipop (completely stock, no root or anything). I wiped the whole lot and flashed the Lollipop ftf. It's currently running the UK 14.6.A.0.368 firmware. Haven't updated it yet to the 216 firmware.
When I call this phone from any other, I can hear my daughter (whom I gave the phone to) but her voice warbles like she's talking underwater.
It is really strange because I had the exact same problem when I updated my wife's Z1 Compact to Lollipop too.
Both devices have locked bootloaders, no root, just clean wipe and flashed Lollipop ftf.
In the end I flashed KitKat back on the Z1C but my daughter really prefers LP over KK.
Any thoughts on this?
Hi, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue... I have an S5 G800H which originally came with 4.4.2. I update it to 5.1.1 when the first ROM came out in... October or November. It was a Russian ROM, and I was having issues with a weird battery drain issue. I reverted back to 4.4.2, and came back to 5.1.1 weeks ago. I again tested a version meant for Caucasus countries, one for South Africa and another one for United Arab Emirates. All of them lead to the very same problem, regardless of root or Xposed.
Overnight, when it is charging, the phone will stop deep sleep. That means the lowest frequency the device will use is 300MHz. No more deep sleep, which means it starts sucking the battery the moment I unplug it.
I checked the wakelocks etc. and found an alarm called "com.google.android.gms" that comes up every minute. No wonder the device does not sleep.
I can reboot, but it will stay awake. Once I clear the cache, all is fine until the next night.
Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this issue? It's really troublesome and I don't want to go back to 4.4.2 - the built is from August 2015 - with security updates as old, too.
Still no Lollipop for your country? If yes, I would go back to factory stock ROM then apply OTA to update and check if everything is fine. Don't let Google restore your apps, do a test for a few days using only the minimum apps installed manually.

Well I am in the EU and Samsung does not sell the G800H in the EU; they don't want dual sim devices here (for obvious reasons).
I must admit I even don't know what the original firmware was, but I think it was for South Africa, built in July 2015. Guess I could track it down. But to my understanding the CSC should not matter when I do a full flash through Odin.
I recently bought a galaxy S6 and realised that it was rooted. I want to unroot it so that i can update to marshmallow. Currently im running on 5.1.1 and baseband version is G920AUCU3BOI2. Im trying to look for an AT&T stock firmware but i cant find one. i managed to find this through one of here threads :theandroidsoul.com/download-galaxy-s6-stock-firmware
Can i used this to unroot my phone and directly go to marshmallow? and also since im not in the US will my phone be locked? i mean will i still be able to have network service where i am.
Desperate to unroot my phone
Last year, when I unrooted, I ended up flashing the firmware again to wipe out root and go back to official status.
Look in the S6 general forum for a build of BOI2 and flash it, then use the software updater in settings (or try smart switch) to update.
Another option is to goto best buy and have the Samsung people restore the software and update it. (haven't done this, not sure how root will impact their flashing)
