[SOLUTION] Remove Sim Icon in Dual Sim Variant (N9208) - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
This is my first time to share my work here.
I have made a solution on how to remove annoying sim icons in the status bar of our variant but only tested in rooted stock rom (SM-N9208).
Feel free to test if you're rooted with stock rom, I also believed it will worked it other dual sim variants.
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any soft brick it might caused. Flash at your own risk.

Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T 4.4 - Can I Flash 910F ROM?

Flash N910T with F910F ROM
Hello guys, I need your help. I got as I thought SM-N910F brand new in Russia with 4.4 KK. It worked fine except for being weak to work with 3G. 4G was OK. Russian localization was OK. When I tried to update the ROM, I discovered this device is not 910F but unlocked 910t instead. While experimenting with flash, I damaged efs. Then I restored it with Kies flashing stock ROM. So now I'be got lollipop phone which says "insert T-mobile SIM".
SI my idea is to flash it with some European ROM which support Russian language. Possibly, some 910f mod? Can somebody suggest which ROM to flash? Unfortunately, I didn't backup original ROM.

You cannot flash a N910T phone with a N910F custom or stock twrp flashable zip file rom.
What you need to do now is to find, download and ODIN flash the official firmware which
came with your phone in order to get your phone working properly again.
Sorry about that,
Have a great day!

Thank you, Misterjunky. There is no such a thing as "official firmware" for my phone. Because it was brought to Russia and unlocked unofficially as I can see now. They even changed the phone label on the back side. So they flash some custom firmware, I think so but I have no idea which one.
To put it more clear, what i have now is exactly official firmware. I've got it with Samsung Kies Tools - Firmware upgrade and initialization which downloads the official firmware based on model name and serial number. But unfortunately this is not what I need because it doesn't accept my local SIM
BoBCaTROM by @turilo worked for my device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...cial-bobcatromn910fton910tw8-v2-0nk5-t2992648
But the problem with 3G persists. Device works with 2G and 4G without problem, but doesn't work with 3G. Any ideas how to adapt modem from 910C to this model?

[Help] Updating to Marshmallow from 5.1.1 (g900aucu4coi5) stock rom & no root

I just purchased a Galaxy S5 unlocked, but its an at&t model (g900a, shows at&t logo on boot, has at&t bloatware). I live in New Zealand so I can not use an at&t sim and update to the latest firmware (ph4?). Im stuck on g900aucu4coi5 and I want to update, and I have found a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/galaxy-s5-android-version-6-0-1-t3419016
Can I just flash ph4 with odin 3.11.1 and I will be fine? No chance of brick or tripping knox (assuming i follow instructions correctly)? Also is there a way I can debrand my s5 and give it a stock s5 rom w/out the at&t crap without tripping knox?
This may seem like a noob question but I have followed instructions to the letter while flashing roms on a galaxy trend plus and a galaxy y duos, and encountered problems down the road which led to bootloops. I assume this was because the tools made for them were still in beta for these devices were not popular, but I still want to be safe and keep my new s5 alive.
Thx

You should be able to go up to PH4 using ODIN no problem.
And about the bloatware... As soon as we find a way to root or preroot Marshmallow we'll probably get some debloated ROMs up, but first we have to find a way to preroot (I'm working on it but it's taking the back burner for a bit while I work on other ROMs so anyone is welcome to give it a try)

Yes, and no. It updated, started overheating and the battery caught fire. Rip.
I'm in the same boat as I have an ATT S5 with Lollipop and tried the above method w/Odin and it is now a brick, stuck on the ATT logo.
Are there any working accessible sources fore the ATT stock Firmware for Lollipop in order to rollback this MM update? I've been looking and have found none.

SM-N950F on US Tmobile

I have been reading all sorts of threads for the past week on how to do this correctly. I think I got it down, just need some confirmation.
I got an international Note 8 SM-N950F 128GB.
I updated to the latest SW via the OTA - Baseband: N950FXXS4CRG6, Build Number: R16NW.N950FXXS4CRG6.
During Setup, I did not put in my SIM at all, I Logged in to the samsung and google accounts.
Waited 7 days and now have the OEM unlock option available.
I want to use the device on USA T-mobile, and root the device and install Xposed and Viper.
Can this be confirmed as the correct work flow?
I will be following Dr. Ketan's Guide to Root and Backup EFS. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-how-to-root-note8-efs-backup-t3677038
1) Flash TWRP via Odin
2) Flash the OEM Unlock Fix, which should also install Magisk.
at this point, I shall boot into the Stock ROM and ensure the OEM Unlock is available, and Backup the EFS partition using the app from Dr. Ketan's post.
Question is: at this point, after backing up the EFS, I can flash a custom ROM, correct?
3) Backup EFS
4) Install Custom ROM.
- I am thinking https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/rom-lightrom-t3768385
5) Flash the Tekhd Tmobile CSC Detonator https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ent/n8-s8x-s9x-oreo-t-mobile-efs-csc-t3772374.
A lot of Roms state they support Multiple CSC's. So, would this CSC Detonator be needed?
5) At what point in time Can I update Magisk or TWRP to the latest ones?
I just want to end some confusion I have. If you all on T-mobile can tell me the steps you took to get this working, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks for all your help.

hello,
any update from your effort to get volte ?
i think if you are on oreo, just need to flash the current detonator version for note 8 and see if it works. you can only use 1 CSC file (either multi or not) per phone.

You can ONLY flash the firmware with SAME model number.

flashing through odin n960f firmware to n960n its not possible my friend, the only way to do so is to root your phone and then flash a custom rom, in your case android pie with custom csc to your country, i have the same model and tried this and it worked, it doesnt work in android 10 because samsung/google made some changes in csc, soo i guess we will have to wait until we find a solution for andorid 10/on ui 2.
this is the link to csc selector for changing to your country if you root your phone:
csc selector
It does not matter. I found solutions
1) combination file way
2) custom rom, root, csc selector (i use that one now)

Hello.. I have the same problem. I bought an unlocked SM-N960N phone that was still in Android 9. Somehow the seller was able to put in a SM-N960F rom in it. I have tried flashing the latest Android 10 but I'm getting stuck with a "SECURE CHECK FAIL: (BOOTLOADER)" error and now I have bricked device.
Can you share the steps and what to download?

yep, probably custom rom with named 960f. not imposibble but requires very effort for 960f to 960n...
if you buy from second hand, i mean used phone like me. i suggest stop trying official roms. if you are sure that your note 9 %100 original. you can find phone infos from download mode. i prefer using custom roms with used note 9. i suggest it you too. i wrote my solution already:

It seems to be custom ROM indeed. I figured out what stock ROM to use through my IMEI number. Flashed it and I'm now typing this from my Note 9.
It doesn't seem that my phone is rooted yet but the OEM is already unlocked.
Where can I get a combination file? My device is in the KTC csc.
I'm also not familiar with using combination files, can you point me to a guide?

Looks like the Dr. Ketan ROM will retain the features I'm concerned about on a custom ROM (i.e. DeX, Samsung Health, Dual SIM). I'll try it out some other time.

You have to get your phone rooted first with twrp.
Then you must have z3x Samsung tool pro box
You can clone your main imei to 2 imei
Then flash dr keten rom that supports dual sim patch in aroma installer.
And you must buy sim tray for dual sim because the single sim phone only you can insert 1 sim and 1 memory card the second sim will not insert.
And also Cloning imei is not easy my friend you must have knowledge to use z3x tool otherwise you may brick the phone because you have to edit some files in EFS partition.
Dont try crack version z3x they will not work.
I am assuming you have a refurbished N960N that came with dual sim and you did flashed stock firmware to upgrade.
Because N960N originally never came with dual sim.
Some chinese refurbishing companies they clone the imei+they change back glass to duos model+they flash dual sim patched software. Because dual sim has more value in asian market.
So if this is the case all you have to do is flash twrp and flash dr keten rom and choose dual sim patch during aroma installer.
You will get back your both imei and dual sim suoport back as you bought.
On stock n960n firmware dual sim will never work.
Hope thus will help
For my information, my device was working in two dual sims, I updated via odin So he became single sim

Yes Because originally your phone is single sim
Someone clone the imei and convert it to dual sim via software.
You have to use dr keten rom if you want to use dual sim.
On stock firmware it will work as single sim.
Thanks

I have an N960N with 2 Imeis and dual sim support( bought from a chinese friend, wasn't cheated) . I believe it has dr.ketan(Android 9) rom pre-installed with stock recovery( check Screenshot). I have seen your previous replies on how to get 2 imei and dual sim support using Dr.Ketans rom , but do you think this will work if I update to Android 10 stock(which is required) from Android 9 and then Flash latest Dr.ketan rom that's based on Android 10. I know there's a whole thread where I can ask questions but Dr.ketan is not available at the moment with the current situation going around the globe.

You could upgrade the bootloader and modem to android 10. The instruction is in the first page of Dr.ketan's thread.
Then flash Dr.ketan's latest rom.
However I'm not sure if flashing bootloader and modem will retain your second sim or not.
For sure if you flash stock rom, it will not work anymore.

It's good to flash stock rom first while updating from Pie to Q, but there's one more way to do it if you don't want to flash the whole stock rom. You can find full instructions by searching on Dr.Ketans rom thread. You just need to download his rom , stock BL & CP files that he has provided in N960N download section. Sorry for late reply
Do I have to root the note 9 to use dual sim on it?
It is originally N960N
I changed my note8 for note9 sm-n960n, the sim cartridge was duos but the same imei for both sim cards, the download sreen was in Korean language and few apps was Korean to, it works in both sims, i don't know if it was rooted, anyway i'm used to flash my own room choice, the Dr.keaton and super-stable rom work duos sim, but the Dev-base is single sim support. much as I have encountered any issue is the one, I cannot establish s-pen connection with Bluetooth other than using as typical stylus.

I bought a phone like that recently (N960F/DS). I never checked it well when i bought it because it was sealed, so i thought all was good. When i got home i found out it was already rooted (surprise!!) and that it was originally N960N converted to N960F/DS. Now I wonder if the process can be reversed because i want to remove the root and update it to android 10 (it is still in 9). Please anyone knows how to reverse the conversion?
If I flashed N960N firmwares will that work or will it brick the phone?

My reply is coming in a bit late, I don't know whether you still need the answer - but yes, you can easily reverse the process by simply flashing original N960N firmware. I have done it myself in a similar constellation to yours. If your phone ends up bricked, it won't be because of this flashing per se.
Allow me to ask you a question - how did you confirm that your phone was originally N960N as you say?
