Overall speed - HTC 10 Real Life Review

Would you say that the HTC 10 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the HTC 10 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Have you used it as the apps and their data build up? Is the camera still snappy, do the apps still launch quickly?

Just slightly faster than my old LG G3 which I still use at home to save the unremovable battery
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app

So much better than my old AT&T Galaxy Note Edge. Runs cooler also, can actually record in 4K without overheating.

It is faster than my 2014 Moto X with a Snapdragon 801 and 2GB of RAM.
However there are little things that are actually faster in my old Moto X:
- The recent apps list takes a while to show in the HTC 10 I have no idea why. Even disabling animations it still takes longer than on my 2yo phone
- The voice recognition sometimes takes longer on the HTC 10!
But overrall it is faster

It is a little more speed than my HTC One A9

Nice article!! Thanks for sharing with us

sometimes the notification was too full will lead phone a little bit lag ,hope on android n will improve

Much much faster than my old Droid Turbo 2

It is the fastest one and it will remain the fastest until the new HTC Nexus gets released

It was pretty fast on stock, but after rooting, debloating, its very very fast, awesome in fact
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app

Way faster then my g4

The HTC 10 is the faster phone I ever had. It is much faster than my Nexus 6P and has zero lag. I absolutely love it.

just coming from galaxy s6 with a custom rom (like now with leedroid rom), I think the Galaxy s6 is more speedy device for everyday use

I'm coming from a Nexus 6P rooted which was blazing quick however this phone as with the M7 and M9 (skipped the M8) and i have to say that the HTC with the newer version of sense (M7 onwards) certainly holds it's own, even at stock it's fast, couple that with a decent custom rom and optimize it, they're probably the most responsive phones i've ever used.
I really haven't had any performance issues to speak of whatsoever with these devices.
The only time you'll see a slow down is when you open the application manager and attempt to scroll down before it's actually loaded, which is the same on most android devices.
I have my gripes with HTC, mainly the battery and glare on photo's, or the paint on the gun metal one (my one, chips easily) some of the software could be better, like the camera and other stock apps, but overall i think they're moving more in the right direction than any other label.
Samsung seem to think that touchwiz is superb, it's got better but jesus it's a crippling launcher and the whole eco system following it.
I've moved away from HTC too many times, i'll be sticking with them from now on.
I'll bet that the new Nexus is by far and away the quickest device there has been up until now, bare in mind that the last time HTC did a nexus device it was a masterpiece.
Long live HTC (with better batteries

The HTC One series was always fast and for some reason my original HTC M7 was twice as fast as my Samsung Note 2 when it came to LTE signal. I was on AT&T at the time but I like T-Mobiles unlimited everything plan with 7gigs of tethering a month. When T-Mobile advertised that they doubled their LTE coverage and made it faster, I can't argue at all. My HTC 10 has only showed the "4G" icon once since launch day. Combine blazing fast signal with Sense (or Nova Prime) with a Sense toggle and slow never enters the discussion!

Blazing fast and smooth

Anyone coming directly from the HTC one m8? How do they compare in terms of speed and smoothness?
Cheers

I still have my M8 along with my current 10. Both are S-Off, rooted, etc and running their respective version of ViperRom. 10 is a lot faster...though I do miss my IR blaster...lol...which is a main reason I keep it (I'll also use it as my GPS/music device in my car mount hotspotted to my 10.
Faster not only in look and feel but in benchmarks...and although its an outdated benchmark...quadrant scores on my M8 are always in the 28-32000 range. 10 is always in the 43-46,000 range. I find that simple benchmark usually correlates to how I feel my phone is running at the time.
Interesting note though....Xposed KILLS my 10's performance (quadrant scores drop to anywhere between 18,000 when "sluggish" to only 30,000 when it seems to be running okay but slower than without it). to where I had to uninstall it. It has no effect on my M8 in performance.

So in everyday real world use you notice the speed difference? I ask this because the M8 on Marshmallow is so smooth already, I don't get how it can get even faster.

My dad was in love with the 4.3 inch screen of Desire HD...BUt there are more issues that positives...
So the next best option was the Incredible S... However, before jumping the gun, I wanted certain things clarified as the Desire HD and Incredible S share the same OS and more or less the same firmware...
1. The battery issue...does the battery die out in the Incredible S also as soon as in Desire HD??
2. The memory card seems to die, anytime, anywhere, without a reason. Does this happen on Incredible S too??
I want to buy a smartphone for my dad that is minimal on issues and problems...Can you guys suggest one???
PS: the screen has to be a minimum of 4...
If the screen has to be a minimum of 4" and you want zero issues, and you want one now, you have very few options. The IS is a great phone, both myself and my fiancée have one (and she is very non technical) and she loves it. The battery lasts quite a bit longer on the IS for two reasons (a) the screen is slightly smaller (the screen is always the biggest powerdraw on any phone) and (a) the battery is of a larger capacity. I had problems with my original SDCard slot, but once I had the phone swapped I have had zero issues. It comes bundled with a decent 8GB memory card, and I haven't heard of anyone with persistand SDCard issues.
In the interests of fairness, the other phones that are avalible that fit your requirements are the Nexus S and Galaxy S. For me, the build quality was quite cheap and tacky, and in my office I have an IS, one friend has a Nexus One and the Other a Nexus S and the Nexus looked very yellowy and dull compared to our phones (he is on 2.3.3), the colours were brighter and more vibrant on the Nexus One compared to the IS, but the screen was a lot sharper and brighter on the IS (the Nexus One is also only 3.7"). The TouchFlo UI on the Galaxy S ruled it out straight away for my, I found it ugly and not very helpful where as Sense is a welcome addition, brings some nice features and eye candy without havign to download loads of apps (great for someone who wants an easy to use phone).
You could wait for the dual core phones, but to be honest unless you are going to game on the phone I really can't see the point. When you compare the IS or DS to the HTC Sensation or Galaxy S II, thumbing through the UI or photographs, or searching the web is just as fast on the 1GHz snapdragon as it is on the dual core, sure they are more powerful gaming machines but I assume that's not why your dad wants it.
Just to clarfy, I have mentioned the DS several times but not recommended it, only because it has a 3.7" phone, other wise it is just a very slightly more compact version of the IS, it is a great phone.
thats a great review prophet and obvious i cant make it sound worse nor better
all i can recommend is don't ever buy an sony ericsson

Thanx l0st.prophet,
I was actually looking for a fair review...I believe Engadget and other well known websites are very biased and dont want to piss off any giants...anyways...I just wanted to know about the battery and the memory card issue and I got my answer. Thanks a lot anyways..so over all, the Incredible is a good phone, minus the Desire HD worries and its screen, the 4.3

[Q] Any Regrets?

For those of you who have purchased the Vivid, any regrets? Why?
None so far for me. I switched from an Inspire and it is a nice improvement in all areas except for development, for now at least.
The screen and improved camera were enough to make it an easy decision for me to switch.
I exchanged from the SGS2 to the Vivid. Wasn't sure which LTE device I wanted. I went with the qHD display because I liked it more so than the SA+. The one thing I regret at the moment is the lack of development so far. The Skyrocket being so close to T-Mobile's version is off to a great start in that department. I had an Atrix before, so I'm used to waiting anyway. With other carriers releasing HTC devices with 1.5ghz makes me feel like there will be a new HTC LTE device being rolled out shortly.
none yet.
I broke the screen on my Dell Streak back in March.
Heard about the HTC Holiday 2 days later.
Waited months for it to come to the US... all the while using a phone with a broken screen.
Became upgrade eligible in August...
I finally gave up waiting and bought the SGSII...
12 hours later (no, i'm not joking.) AT&T announced the Vivid(Holiday)...
I kept the SGSII for a week, seeing if it's annoying over-saturation and ultra light weight would grow on me...
Bought the Vivid on Launch Day.

I wouldn't worry about it...
It appears our phone has the 1.5 in it as well, just underclocked to save battery life.

Nothing so far, everything work as expected, Wifi, GPS, call quality is great. I like the weight on the thing, don't really like litght phones, it's just me.

i switched from the iphone 4 and im kinda wanting to go back to it, but i think its just that im not use to android and im gonna give it time. the phone though i like a lot, its the browser and mail apps that bug me.
I wholeheartedly regret my decision, for now anyways....see the data connection problems thread.

None, somehow the Vivid feels more complete for me as a phone, maybe i am one of those few who love sense. i dont really care much of development, to me the phone works
Switch from crappy since launch day, love the sense. Always wanted a HTC,and it's as good as expected.
As for development,it's only out for a week. HTC is known to be the fastest mgf to release update,no worry. Not to mention HTC already already announce we will have ICS January.

The phone's great for me so far. The only regret I have is the audio quality recorded from the camcorder, it's bad... I thought I'd be able to make it sound better by turning stereo recording off like I did on my Sensation, but unfortunately I was wrong. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future by HTC or developers. :l
So far I love the phone. My only complaint is the less than stellar battery life, but everything else is good, and my battery life seems to be getting better now that it's gone through a few charge cycles & I'm starting to return to using it as a normal phone and not a new gadget! I don't seem to have any of the connectivity problem others complain about, but I'm pretty sure at this point that's a network thing, because the Skyrocket experiences the same issues sometimes. The screen is nice and bright as far as I'm concerned (dare I say it's rather vivid?), and I like the qHD resolution. I think the speaker's plenty loud enough & call quality's pretty good. And overall I'm just a fan of HTC's Sense over Samsung's TouchWiz. Now if only we could manage to unlock the bootloader!

Haha, glad I could save your fingers some effort!
Coming from a Tilt 2, this phone is amazing! No more worrying about running out of memory. No more watching the battery guage go from 100% to 70% just by sitting on my nightstand overnight! No more typing and watching the letters show up on the screen 5 seconds later! Also, I love the qHD screen.
For my first Android phone, I think I made a wise choice!
I have no regrets about the phone, but getting angrier by the day about the bootloader. Seems absurd that htcdev doesn't have the unlock tool on day 1, let alone day 10, especially since its brother models are up there. Grumble, grumble...
I went to the Vivid from my trusty Inspire. The Vivid doesn't seem to be as sturdy as the Inspire, but still a nice phone. The 1.2 GHz dual core proc keeps everything running slick and smooth, but all that power sure generates some heat! This thing gets super hot when I run GPS, Bluetooth Audio, and other stuff at the same time. As soon as this thing gets an AOSP rom... it will be great!
-TH
I regret getting this phone, but I couldn't tell you a better option it's so hard to tell with phones without living with one for a week beforehand, and I don't have that luxury. I am displeased with some things within this phone to the point where I would move if I was given the option. I look at other phones and really I couldn't tell if I would actually like them once I had them.
If I could get an android from Telstra with a full slide out keyboard, that wasn't a low/mid range 450Mhtz snooze fest, I would jump ship so very quickly, I'm a fan of physical keyboards. Next time around though I think my main guiding factor will be stock android (ie a Nexus of some variety, or a phone that gets stock android asap)
Pro's
1. Camera is pretty nice, microphone is rubbish for vid, but the picture quality is very nice
2. Battery is pretty good under ICS, no android has awesome battery, but this I am finding pleasantly surprising.
3. Lots of internal space for apps and media
4. microSD card slot.
5. LTE, in Australia this is the only LTE handset currently available.
6. MHL compatibility is pretty nice with video output to HDMI via the adaptor.
7. Cheap accessories from ebay, covers and stuff are common, they are however unheard-of in shops in Australia, cant even get a screen protector or a cover from Telstra themselves, and they offer no solution beyond ebay
Con's
1. This is the first "sense" android I have used long term, and I gave it a good run but I hate sense so very much, and the ICS update to sense 3.6 made sense worse for me, sure its lighter and faster now, but features I want are now gone. I came from mostly using GB MIUI on a HTC HD2 to this phone with sense, and sense is just so far behind MIUI it's not even funny, sense feels like winmo 6.5, I was so disappointed.
2. Due to many reasons, not necessarily the handsets fault, the development options and ROM selection is quite limited, I came from a HTC HD2, which could run anything under the sun, and had developers coming out of the wazoo, even supported dual-booting and running ROM's from the SD card, including full desktop operating systems, I miss that hack-ability of the HD2.
3. The back cover falls off all the damn time, I can't get the damn thing to stick. Even if under another cover, it slides up and interferes with the speaker and the flash/lens of the camera, all of a sudden my photos are darker and I'll be like, wait not again, YES THE DAMNED BACK COVER AGAIN! This is a retarded design.
4. HTC's version of exchange email support is rubbish, the stock android app is miles ahead of it, I don't know why they feel they need to rewrite it because they replace awesome with mediocre.
5. USB mounting of the drives are hit and miss, sometimes both volumes don't mount, or none mount, other times they are good for 50 disconnection/reconnection in a row.
6. on the stock OTA update for ICS, issues with the screen remaining dull/not adjusting properly and all of the missing options that GB had are driving me nuts.
7. if I roll back to GB and attach my phone to exchange using the same account, I can install APK's still, under ICS with the same account, the security option is hidden from me... I can no longer install APK's under ICS.
8. whilst streaming music to my A2DP car adapter, I cannot find any way to get the email notifications to NOT interfere with the music, even if I remove all notifications it still makes the music "skip" slightly when an email comes in... this is frustrating, thought I feel it is an ICS issue as this wasn't a problem with GB.
Just my experience, if someone offered to swap a galaxy nexus I'd probably jump at the opportunity, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't take it (it was an option available at the time I needed a new phone).

Need advice on selecting a new phone

I had an HTC Inspire and liked it, but kind of heavy.
Recently upgraded to an LG Nitro. I've had a few problems. For some reason, during the night while it is charging, it just quits charging. When I get up the battery is down to 25%. I've also had problems when placing a calls. When I take the phone away from my ear the screen won't come back on and I can't disconnect the call. This almost always happens when I'm leaving a voice mail and people will end up with a bunch of background noise until I can manage to get the screen to come back on and disconnect the call. All in all, very annoying problems.
I was considering returning it for the HTC Vivid or the Samsung Skyrocket.
Does anyone have any opinions?
Thanks.
Do you want sense or touchwiz?
Both are great but the vivid is stuck with no development due to not being able to unlock.....yet.
The HTC is the much nicer phone
I wouldn't go from nitro to skyrocket, the phone is good but the screen is low resolution. I'm really happy with the Vivid, I can still wait for bootloader, no time to play with custom roms yet, do no biggie for me.

Just because you own the HTC doesn't mean "it's the much nicer phone"....they are both great phones, but i would go with the regular at&t gs2 over the skyrocket and then its a coin flip for the HTC or the GS2
It depends if you want to wait for the HTC bootloader to be unlocked, or if you want to go ahead and start flashing custom rom's
Pretty sure you're stuck with the Nitro since you only get one exchange within the 30 days from when you upgrade.

This may sound like ranting, but is not...just opinion:
I have had HTC phones since Win 6. Sense is nice, build quality is nice...but will never come close to the Galaxy line of phones in performance. Galaxy phones were build to perform...cheap plastic, beautiful screen and the best of processors. Performancewise I will never trade a Galaxy for an HTC. I currently own 6 phones, Galaxy (Captivate), Galaxy S II (Unlocked), HTC Amazed, HTC Vivid, Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy phone will ALWAYS outperform ANY other phone and it has been proven everywhere...HOWEVER, the HTC build quality, screen resolution (NOT that it looks better, galaxy has one of the most beautiful displays...based on consumer reviews all over, but lower resolution), and the Sense UI make the HTC a good choice. The Vivid has a nice camera but then again so does the SGII.
I don't like the Galaxy Nexus that much...thought I would, but maybe is because is still new (already rooted BTW) but I prefer Gingerbread.
I am the director of IT at my company, we deal with digital photography, data storage and more. I handle all communications and when is time to buy new gadgets all my techs are given choices of PDAs, in the last 3 years all 23 of them chose the Galaxy line over every other phone, including HTC phones. They all say the same thing: it may have been built with cheap plastic...but we look at performance. We want to touch and go....not touch...wait...then go.
So...the choice in this case is a tough one. Vivid = Nice quality, nice 4.5" screen (not better, just nice)...considerably heavier due to good materials, dual core 1.2GHz Scorpion. SGII = Rock solid performance, customizable to your liking, very light and thin (CPS) build materials, beautiful screen (lower resolution however) 4.3" or 4.5". Dual core 1.2GHz Exynos OR dual core 1.5GHz scorpion.
Even in processors and screen size the Galaxy line gives you choices...Vivid is only one....a good one, but only one.
Vivid looks elegant, nice to carry in your front pocket of your shirt and you can feel it as you handle it. SGII is so lite sometimes you can forget you're holding it. The battery cover of the SGII is flimsy, very flexible but won't break easyly. The battery cover on the Vivid is solid, locks in place with a snap and stays there. Battery on the SGII is way better than the Vivid, might be due to the large display high density AND Sense does uses a lot of power and system resources. TouchWiz is NOT people's favorite, I don't mind it because it is fast, very fast and much better than previous versions...Sammy did get the message from screaming users regarding touchwiz in the past. Because touchwiz is so lite on the processor and memory, phone runs constantly at about 650MB free memory, while due to Sense and all the At&t advertising crap bloatware the Vivid only stays at about 300MB.
I do have to admit the Sense UI is beautiful, gives your display an extra wow, but they have to come up with a way to make Sense use less system resources and better processors.
Hope it helps somewhat

I kept my Evo but got a Galaxy oil the other day. I was shocked at the low resolution screen and cartoon colors. I can appreciate that Sense uses tons of memory and what made me root my Evo was the ui slowing after gingerbread. Every time I went to the gone screen it would have to stop and reload.
I plan to replace the Galaxy with a Inspire or Vivid as I can't live with the screen.

My 2 Cents
I tend to stick to mainly HTC based phones. Why..
I feel they are very solid.
They tend to have good support factory & dev.
They tend to be very customizable
Performance wise I think the HTC & Samsung run very close (I am basing this using Vivid and Skyrocket for examples).
I like both screens (the Samsung oled screens tend to be better in sunlight, but I have been impressed with the Vivids screen in Sunlight)
My Advice to you look at your options, do some reading on what prople like and don't like and decide what phone better fits your needs. For me it's currently the Vivid.
Just my opionion tho.
Cheers

[Q] Potential buyer. A few questions.

Hello there
I have been trying to decide between the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 for quite some time now that I am actually getting tired from all the research and reading. My first Android device was the HTC One X, and to be honest I was thoroughly disappointed with it. The battery life was utter crap, Sense UI was incredibly laggy, I received absolutely no software updates (OTA) because I am in the Middle East and we usually get the updates 3 - 4 months after everyone else, the device was white and it started losing its color rather quickly and it garnered a lot of dings even though I am a careful user. I then moved to the Galaxy S3 and am pretty satisfied with it even though it isn't without its problems (which are also making me fear buying the S4), therefore I have a couple of questions regarding the HTC One:
1) How's the battery life? My usage is usually browsing, using whatsapp, installing new applications from the PlayStore to try them, listening to music from time to time and usually using Mobile Network (HSDPA or w.e it's called) instead of Wi-Fi, which I eats a lot of battery.
2) How's the material? Is it a bit weak like the HTC One X's or is the aluminum strong? If I get the HTC One I'll be getting the silver color.
3) Are there any heat issues? I remember the One X got really hot (but not unbearable) rather quickly and the material didn't help, either. Cases did, though.
4) Has the Sense UI improved in terms of laggyness when swiping and such from the One X's?
5) What is the latest firmware available for the HTC_J15 CID at the moment? That was my One X's CID and I am assuming it's because I am in Egypt, therefore the HTC One is supposedly going to be the same.
6) How's the camera in low-light conditions and the flash?
Thank you guys very much. I really appreciate your time.

1) Excellent. I'm a heavy user, play ton of games, browse the internet with LTE (which uses more power than HSPA+) and it gets me through the day with at least 30% to spare.
2) Build quality is excellent.
3) It does get warm if you play graphically heavy games. other than that, I can't say it really got hot or anything.
4) Theres no lag on this phone at all. None. It's butter smooth, which you can't say the same thing about the s4 which lags like crazy.
5) No idea, sorry.
6) Low light is amazing. The whole benefit of the ultrapixel camera is for low light.
Thank you so much for your helpful and informative replies, they have definitely reassured me about the HTC One. I am not one to fully trust reviews from known people on YouTube or writers on Gizmodo and such because the biases are very clear, that's why even though this is a section dedicated to the HTC One I do not see a reason why someone would lie about their experience with the One in order to persuade others to buy it, what would they benefit anyway?
Thanks again. I appreciate it.
Yeah this phone is amazing. The phone does get rather warm when playing games or video chatting. But everything is butter smooth. 0 lag. At all. I still don't believe it. And the camera really excels at low light. At normal or bright levels its just good. Nothing super awesome, but good. And the build quality is top notch. Never seen a nicer looking phone or felt one that feels better in my hands. Hope this helps! I would definitely buy this phone again

2- aluminum phones get hot. this is not an issue its designed like that. aluminum transfers the heat from the internals which prolongs the life of the phone. this is why car engines are made of aluminum and more importantly heat sinks on cicuit boards are aluminum
I agree with you. Plus, just about any device I played games on or browsed for a long time got warm, so that's understandable, however the Galaxy S3 gets REALLY hot (50+) when doing normal tasks for a long time, and of course the heat results in the battery getting depleted, and unfortunately Samsung seemingly did not do much about that with the S4 since my friends are experiencing the same issues with it. I have decided I am going to get a silver 32GB HTC One; the only Developer Edition ones I found in Egypt did not have warranty, but since I am dishing out so much money (over 800 USD), I might as well go for warranty as well as an anti-impact screen protector.
Battery life is pretty good. About 4 half to 5hrs screen time. No lag on sense 5.
Camera is nice. Dont get the s4.i had it for a week and lag soo much.dont get me wrong the s4 is nice but lags kills the phone so i sold it bought htc one, plus speakers are awesome

Thank you so much everybody. I went ahead and ordered it and it is coming in about an hour or so. I ordered a 32GB silver version and I am extremely excited about it. Hopefully it won't disappoint me!
Hope you enjoy your new HTC One

Most of these questions could be answered through all your research. haha Sounds like you came here for that last bit of reassurance, but you already made the decision. Battery life is the big one. The regular Sense doesn't do as much as the S4, but therefore it has good battery life. S4 does all this stuff.....but it's all useless stuff and kills the battery.
It's a pretty phone...but you'll end up with a case anyway.
And you already knew about the camera. But for the same reason it's good in low light, it's not as good for regular photos.

1. Battery life pretty good. A lot (!!) better that my old One X. You can get 4-5 hrs of screen time and doing battery sucking activities along and pretty much all the time: Photos, zoes, editing, downloading, browsing intensively, etc
2. Its hard as metal Really, it does feel harder and sturdier than the One X.
3. Well, it heats up I tell you that. I mean, my "One" gets to about 37+ after I browse or snap pics and zoes for more than 5-7 minutes. It gets even hotter, at 40+, if you keep using it, but the good part is that it cools down really fast. Take a 4-5 minute brake and its back to 30 or so
Like other ppl have said, its not a flaw... Aluminum conducts heat and that is a good thing for the phone. And that brings us to the UI and lag..
4. No. No lag. No stutter. Nothing! Butter-free is the right term. Moreover, not only is it lag-free, but its super fast in terms of opening aps and dealing with commands.
Good luck

No way! That would be awesome when 4.2.2 is officially out since the Middle East receives updates months later than the West. How would you go about doing so mate?

You can do S-OFF following this method by revolutionnary team found here Or Moonshine method found here you'll find the command to change the CID, you can set the CID that receives the updates firstly, to get updates with official OTA, or just root and install custom rom based on latest firmware leaks
That's awesome, man. If I am not mistaken, that was not possible with the HTC One X, or at least not when I had it - I really struggled with not receiving OTA updates when everyone else was receiving them, which is why I always went the custom route although I prefer the stock one. Would you happen to know a website like SamMobile (for Samsung) that always informs of the latest firmwares available for the device? I am using ARHD and therefore I cannot use the "Software Update" feature in the device.

Who came from HTC one m8

If so how is it better and do ya regret it
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Don't regret it at all. Get used to the size very quickly. Going back to my M8 feels like a tiny iPhone 5. Screen is beautiful.
Stock Lollipop is awesome. Front facing speakers are comparable to the M8. Nice to be on the bleeding edge of software updates.
Sometimes I notice some lag and hiccups but I am confident updates can fix that.
Camera's low light performance and front camera performance are not all that great.
Camera is sort of slow sometimes
Battery life is about the same as the M8. Pretty average.
Miss LED notification light and tap to wake
I'm really considering getting this device and sell my M8..
I "unfortunately" live in Denmark and the release is first next month, but I'm extremely close to doing it.. ☺
How big is the size difference?
i just made the switch yesterday, and the only thing i miss is the tap to wake.

How do the speakers compare?
So far about the same.
I came from a HTC One M8.
I purchased the Nexus 6 as the Vodafone deal with a Moto 360 was too good to pass up, particularly as I was out of contract and get a corporate discount through them.
The size takes some getting used to – after a while you don’t notice it though and begin to appreciate the extra screen real-estate. The HTC One M8’s screen is brighter at max, then again I use both phones at around 40-50% so it’s not really an issue.
Build quality is just as good as the HTC One M8, feels solid but obviously materials aren’t as premium. I love Sense UI, always felt it added the refinement that Android lacked. Thankfully Lollipop has finally brought stock Android to where it needed to be, i’d say personally it’s better than Sense UI.
Overall I’m happy... Then again, if i hadn't gotten the Nexus 6 for as cheap as i did, i doubt i would of upgraded as the HTC One M8 is such a great device.
moved on from an HTC one max (still have the one max). Stock not rooted.
I love the pure vanilla gui, fast updates and the overall format factor. the nex 6 is fast and wireless charging built in is icing.
the size of the nex 6 is also smaller and lighter than the one max.
no regrets whatsoever! Android L is the bees knees....
i came from a HTC One M8 that i converted from Sense after months, to GPE.
Everything is an upgrade in my eyes. Screen, Camera, even the front facing speakers are to par coming from Boomsound.
Some lag with certain games, but im not a big gamer, im assuming the games will get updates to make them better.
64gb version on its way to me
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I came from m8 and I feel unless screen size is that big of a deal to get you should stick with m8. I kinda regret selling the m8 for the nexus 6. I miss having an SD card to load up my music which is 60gb+.
Both phones are snappy and I doubt most will notice the difference at least not in 2015. My opinion is the nexus 6 has louder volume but the M8 had more crisp sound. They are very comparable and I say in the end it's a tie with speakers.
M8 has decent development, we had multirom, sense, GPE, CM/Aosp/slim etc and my personal favorite miui.
In the end they are both top notch phones. You probably won't notice any difference in performance for another year maybe 2. Soon enough the faster SoC and more ram will outclass the m8.
God I am hoping the m9/Hima has a phablet option and GPE. Would use my jump for that

You can get both those options if you root light flow paid version gives you notification light and there are many double tap to wake mods.
Switching from a One M8 to the Nexus 6 on the 18-19th or whenever Verizon decides to ships mine. I'm looking forward to the first time I won't be unlocking/rooting a phone right away. I've wanted to move away from custom roms for a while now just because it's time consuming, not as necessary as it once was, bugs, etc. I felt like a Nexus phone was the right phone to do that with. The specs look great, It may be huge but I'll adapt like with every previous phone I've owned.
*I think I'll only miss tap to wake and LED notifications.
Went from the M7 to the M8 to this. The size doesnt bother me as much as I can pretty much palm a basketball, so one handed operation of this thing is possible. I do miss a few things from it though. The SD slot is big for me (since I only have the 32gb Nexus) . I also miss Blinkfeed...well the news aggregator portion of it. I know theres things like Flipboard out there, but I didnt really like those.
BUT with that being said, the camera is better, the speakers are comparable, the built in wireless charging, the screen seems more vibrant, the "quick charge" ability, and probably a few others that I missed, are all things I like over the M8.
I also seem to have pretty decent battery life. Maybe it was because my M8 was a year old and the battery was starting to show signs of weakening, but with the Nexus I can EASILY get a day+ on it, even with my Moto360 connected (which used to kill my M8 pretty quickly)

I do since I do not carry the charging plug and cable that came with the phone. I use the Nokia DT-900 charging plate. Granted its NOT going to charge your phone as fast at the Moto Quick charge ability, it still works when you dont need 60% charge in 15 min
Thanks! Does Google have its own charging plate? And yeah i'd be using it overnight so charging quickness wouldn't matter.
