i want to see photo quality of HTC 10
Wipe the lens if you're getting glare
Immediately after pulling the phone out of the box I was getting serious glare from any light source. Sunlight was washing out all of my photos, and any light-bulb produced very pronounced streaks and flare. I didn't immediately wipe the lens down as I didn't think it would make much difference (never really had to worry about it on previous phones).
I thoroughly wiped the lense down, and saw significant improvement.
I have a number of before and after photos, but I can't post to the forum yet as I am new to the community. I will upload them later, or message me and I will send them to you.
I must say I'm quite impressed, especially coming from the atrocious LG G2 camera! Straight out of the camera, no editing... http://i.imgur.com/uT7Djm6.jpg
i think not really sharp
I'm no photography expert but from comparing with S7 line and P9 Plus, I think the 10's cam needs improvement. Before taking a pic it really looks nice but after taking the pic it becomes a bit dull. Not really sure how to describe it.

I know what you mean, the picture is very clear when in live view, but after capture and save to JPG it "compress/process" too much, make the photo looks something wrong.
if you take photo in raw mode then the DNG will much better.
I agree, Note 7 and S7 is much better as you got a good photo and don't need to do anything, while the HTC 10 need to do some work before can get an on pair result.
Sometime my old Nexus 5 will take a better photo then the HTC 10, especially HDR.

look at the sky, the famous HTC 10 white out
Best in class
how can i change to raw mode ??
I find the camera lacking against my Nexus 6P, I don't get that good pix with my 10 at all. Often blurry and bad pics indoors without flash on. Otherwize I find that the 10 got better battery life atleast
The F1.8 aperture is fast and the OIS works well in low light. And as it's only 12MP taking and storing photos is quick. Overall picture quality is good but not standout.
its pretty respectable
for me is the best camera https://www.flickr.com/photos/maik_reifschneider/albums/72157667953569555
Slow sutter speed image sucks compare to the s7 edge.

everything is set to auto except shutter speed & iso.
s7 edge image looks more pleasant to me.
It would be better if htc camera can set iso to 50
i have camera mod and can set ISO68 - ISO52939 and shutter speed 1/8000 - 30 minutes.
i have more shutter speed steps e.g. 1sec, 1,5sec, 2sec, etc.
the right setting looks the same result

X722 here. IMX298 is pretty great in direct sunlight. Seems to find focus quickly too. See the second image.
https://ibb.co/eJoy9b <---- Sky and colours washed out? Sadly this one seems to lack EXIF, dunno why. Maybe I had flash on.
https://ibb.co/kGu5pb
Hi guys, in my X720 (with Nougat - LOS 14.1 - Superluminal) I really can't decide which camera is the best.
I'm using Google Camera, Bacon Camera and A Better Camera Unlocked.
Withouth looking the exif data, for you, which is the better one?

Thank you and have a good day!
for me the second looks ok, but for best results you should take a picture in a room with the same iso and from a tripod, exactly in the same position.
Here new 3 Photo (not with tripod, but taked at the same time)
Bacon Camera - https://lensdump.com/i/KKzs9
Google Camera con HDR+ - https://lensdump.com/i/KKlZo
A Better Camera Unlocked - https://lensdump.com/i/KKOci
Here new 6 Photos
Bacon Camera - https://lensdump.com/i/Kz0OA - https://lensdump.com/i/KzjTq - https://lensdump.com/i/KSJa3 - https://lensdump.com/i/KS6dr
Google Camera con HDR+ - https://lensdump.com/i/KzWyD - https://lensdump.com/i/Klaur - https://lensdump.com/i/KSCLF - https://lensdump.com/i/KSTNb
A Better Camera Unlocked - https://lensdump.com/i/KzAn0 - https://lensdump.com/i/Kz28F - https://lensdump.com/i/KSR4T - https://lensdump.com/i/KSki7
Personal opinion: After a careful analysis of the photos, I think that Bacon Camera is the one that keeps the details "richer" even if it tends to underexpose the photos.
The photos with Bacon Camera are indeed "uncompressed" in BMP format.
Google Camera and A Better Camera Unlocked (both with HDR enabled) have a better balance of lights and shadows, but they lose a lot of detail by mixing more photos.

I'm very satisfied with the camera on the p10 phone.
Hi guyz! I just got my P10...all I say about camera- it's a beast. Daylight photos are excelent. For me the "vivid" colour mod makes it 10/10. I've been playing with the camera for all day and I came up with 2 questions:
1)Which resolution do you guys prefer- 12 or 20 mp ??(Since it has only 12 mp colour sensor- does upscaling work good 4 you?)
2)Why software doesnt allow to zoom-in while @20mp at all?
Here's an example for [standart] vs [vivid]- http://imgur.com/a/fg8e6

Yes, this problem is mine as well
There is an issue with Verical Panorama. Although Horizontal Panorama works perfect, in Vertical as you go up, it gets constantly out of focus. It's hasnt been fixed since B113 and we are now in B162...I have sent the problem to Huawei in all socia media. Try it for yourself

There's already a RAW option.
Has the photo quality change or improve with the Oreo update?
On my P10 camera app version went from 4.x to 8.x with Oreo Update.
Regarding quality, i didn't see much improvement however i would say that one big flaw (for me) of the P10: artificially over-brightening night photos has been somehow improved (still has this ****ty habit but less)
Test
Some new pictures I made. The bright ones were made in Auto-Mode, the Runway at Night is made in Manual mode with ISO50 and 30s exposure.
I uploaded them to imgur for quality.
Believe it or not, P20 pro shoots terrible photos! Zoom in and see the details they are absolutely terrible. Especially when shooting close-ups the phone performs poorly and the images are blurry. I don't know why the problem occurs but it shouldn't be how so called the worlds best camera would perform. Anyone else has this problem?

but why is it even worse than my old huawei p8 lite.
I don‘t know. I also wonder. For me, zoom is not usable, and I only use pro mode, because it processes the images differently. Auto, night and hdr mode are currently just outputting bad, blurry and oversharpened images. Hoping for a firmware fix but I often read that other users like the look, so it‘s probably how huawei wants them to look.

no problem here (Macro)

I noticed that the zoom sensor isn't always stabilized: in low light and in close up shots it loses his stabilization, thus it produces awful results. Few days ago I took a picture of a little cat with 3x zoom, in a very low light scenario. This is the result I got (see attachment).
I also have attached a video where you can clearly see the stabilized zoom lense kicking in, and how shaky the image is when the stabilization goes off (focus on how the images "stretches" when I zoom to my little Wi-Fi antenna and to my mouse).
https://photos.app.goo.gl/AJiWNjdbFyMj3UeKA
Another quick comparison (attachments):
3x Without Stabilization (closer to subject) vs 5x With Stabilization (Farther)
Same light conditions, I just moved farther and closer to reach the distance needed to lose stabilization.
I think our zoom lense is intended to work just with far objects and not to take closer macro shots.

I roughly measured the distance: it's about 50-60cm. Getting farther from this with good light conditions will enable Stabilized Zoom Lens. In low light scenario, stabilization doesn't work at any distance for me.

I agree! Especially in scenes with high contrast (landscapes in bright sunlight...) 1. dark surfaces (mostly shadows) turn into deep black (no more structures...) and 2. all details lost when you zoom into the picture (And no, i am not a pixelpeeper, but pls compare the 100%-View with another flagship...).
Intelligent Auto-HDR has to come, like in iOS or Samsungs Galaxys...

Obviously there are shortcomings with the zoom which users should be aware of when using it. The big one is the aperture which if i remember correctly is only f/2,4 or something like that. A big difference from the other lenses as it let's in a lot less light to the sensor. It also answers the questions why it performs poorly when the light disappears. Use zoom only when you have enough light to get a good shot, if the light is poor shoot at 40mpix shot and then crop it in post.
I'm having no big issues with the zoom myself as i only use it in good daylight situations and i avoid the 5x zoom since it looks way to artificially enhanced. Just crop into a 1x or 3x shot is enough.
I do wish Huawei toned down on sharpening and noise reduction as it would improve detail rendering to a much greater degree. A little sensor noise is not a bad thing, it gives photos a bit more character and personality.

In auto mode HDR is also used automatically when deemed appropriate with AI turned off. The only way to disable auto HDR is to use pro mode (and likely some of the other modes, but they are obviously more specialized).

Sorry you both(solofero & MikeMTS)! It may be right that HDR comes with Auto (with AI or w/o AI doesn´t matter)... But that intelligence when HDR turns on is crappy, most pics I wish they had HDR comes without it. So I have to turn on HDR manually for most situations...
I did some comparative shots with one of my work colleagues. He has a Samsung Galaxy S9+. Well yeah.. The phone itself is nice. Good upgrade if your coming from s8..
Ok, while I really like this phone for it's camera capabilities, it's fair to say my experience with the M20Pro shooter has been a bit mixed. I am coming from a S7 edge (great camera for its time). My girlfriend has an iPhone XS, so that's also a good reference.
The good: the wide angle lens is amazing, great for pictures of architecture and nature, shots look dramatic and fairly unique. Night mode is also good, when it get's it right, it renders a really impressive picture. Portrait mode is a bit agressive, but does an above average job bluring the foreground as well as the backgroud. Aperture mode is neat and more natural looking than portrait. AI is ok, it get's things right more often than not. I haven't used much the 3x zoom yet, but I guess it can come in handy.
The bad: no optical image stabilization - it may seem like nitpicking, but this phone takes a lot of blured shaky picures for a flagship, especially in low light situations. You may find yourself having to have to hold it steady and firm for a good second or two in some situations to get a usable shot. If you're trying to take pictures from moving subjects, like pets or kids, this device is not your greatest friend. The dinamic range is also not the best, lagging significantly behind iPhone and Pixel - the shadows tend to be darker while the highlights do blow sometimes. I found that a little post production goes a long way with the M20P shots - when you recover those shadows, add a tad of sharpness and maybe a bit of saturation you can make a rather dull pic look amazing - but I can understand how the average user might not want to go throught that. Also not great is the HDR, firstly because it's a separate hidden mode in the extras (when it should be a toggle always readily available on the interface), secondly because, as mentioned, while usable, it's not top class - and again the lack of OIS makes things trickier.
All in all, I am mostly pleased with this camera because of its versatility. You can acomplish pictures with the M20P that no other phone can match - like a wide angle night shot. Having said that, it's certainly not the best point and shoot phone camera out there - to get the most of it you have to wrestle through the endless menus and modes and sometimes work a bit on the post production. So, if you don't care abou the wide angle lens and just want a phone camera that spits out eye catching images 9 times out of 10, I guess you could be better served with a Pixel 3, iPhone Xs or even a Galaxy S/Note 9.
Those are my two cents, but I'm curious to read what you guys think.
Cheers.

anyone know if this phone has diferent camera sensores like samsung (Sony and samsung sensor)?
I can't believe that my S9 with only one camera take way BETTER shots than the Mate 20 pro.
Too much disappointed with this!
Don't know if I'm doing anything wrong...
I bought this because I was tired of the Samsung ui and the slow (NO) updates... but payed a lot more for this phone and comparing the pictures.. 90% of them are worst than the S9.
The pictures in the Huawei are way more darker...
first- S9
Second -Mate

40mp or 10 mp ?
to use 40, you need are really well lit environment, otherwise its always 10 mp for hdr effect.

And?
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
So i took few photos.

My pro zoom edition just arrived 3 days ago. Before I had the exynos s8+. I am waiting for the bootloader unlock by xiaiomi, but I can already tell you that even with china rom and stock camera it is a big jump
Just few point and shoot pictures (k30 pro zoom edition) with stock miui camera.

Hello Team
Can anybody share few photos of example documents? [newspaper, school-book, book, etc]. Taken indoor [so it means under "mean" light conditions].
For me it is interested how this phone handle such photos.
One thing Ive noticed when I was taking photos of documents/book pages was that it blurs on the periphery. It's clear on the center, but becomes *very subtly* blurry on the outward edges as if you've moved your hand for a split second. I shoot in a well lit room with light (bulb and natural light, and I shoot from the above (natch) so Im not sure why the focus is not uniform and. has blurring on the edges. Also using gcam btw: Twichaya2.

I noticed the same thing in the photo comparison tool from gsmarena.com: https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=10220&idPhone2=10097&idPhone3=9816
I wonder how pronounced the effect is in real world usage, keeping in mind that for some photos of humans, the face is at the edge of the frame.
this is why I asked for real examples. I have seen the same "issue" with many other cameras.
