Anybody else notice that Google Camera is missing from the Play Store? A Google search says this happened back in March, but should still be available to Nexus devices.
I'm not seeing it on my Nexus 6 running the TuPac lite 30D ROM. Curious if others can still see it.

Nope. Still at 560.
I think something may be screwy with my device on my Google account.
On the Play Store settings it shows as a Verizon Nexus 6 but it doesn't show at all on Android Device Manager nor the Android N beta sign up.

mine doesnt show on my device manager either(on my sgs4 the n6 shows up though, and i signed up for N. the odd thing is it does show up, if looking certain ways, but a search on thd play store app it doesnt show up here either. but.. if i go to the page of my installed google cam it shows up, or if i press a link on google via a search it shows up as well.
There was a discussion on the Google Camera missing from the Play Store here. In short, I believe they hid the app so it can update, but cannot be installed.

Strange. I only started noticing issues when I manually installed the first N beta. Don't remember if I signed up for the beta afterward or not but ran into these issues when going back to Marshmallow.

Makes sense, but if the app is installed, it should still appear in the Play Store, even if it's not available otherwise. If it weren't you wouldn't be able to update it, right? Curious about why they did this.
Google Play Services, which I reference in the other thread, cannot be searched for within the Play Store on device or PC. It automatically updates itself, and also does not appear in the list of installed apps. To find it on the Play Store on a PC, you have to know its package name (com.google.android.gms), perform a search for any other app, and replace that app's package name with the Google Play Services package name, in order to call it up.
Google Camera is easier to find. A search on the device won't pull up anything, but it does show up in the installed apps list on the Play Store. If you search on the PC, you'll find it there. You won't be able to install it however unless you have the right Nexus device (5X, 6, 6P, 9) and that Nexus device is apparently stock. Pure Nexus also shows the camera app as being incompatible, though we can install and use it without trouble.
As to why Google did this, I couldn't tell you. Unless it's in preparation for Android N. Currently I have the Android N camera app installed, but I had to get it from outside the Play Store.
I had this same issue. Thought it was just me

So I've tried to install a variety of different apps that I know are compatible with my device and all the google play store responds with is "This item is not compatible with your device." The most recent is nVidia TegraZone which should install considering it's a Tegra3 Device. Anybody else having this issue and/or found any fixes?
I've side loaded several apps like that which end up working fine. Basically, I download the app to a rooted phone, use titanium backup to backup the app, then download it to the N7 and enjoy.

Or you could use MyAppSharer on Play using a compatible device.
Had no problems with tegrazone from Google play.
Have you modified anything on your device?

Thanks. Worked very nicely.
I would really like it if I could just to some small hack to not have to worry about doing this though...
Anything that requires a camera permission is incompatible, including Grocery King which really annoys me as I use it for all of my shopping. Barcode Scanner, Google Goggles, etc...
Luckily LoseIt, calorie tracker, CAN use a camera but on my N7 it installed just fine just doesn't have the barcode scanning option. This is how apps should be written. For example, Google Goggles can be used on existing photos, or even photos taken with the camera hack from modoco.
In the past I've also have problems with apps that require Send/Read SMS, but I haven't noticed any of those yet.
What apps are you seeing incompatible?
For some reason the good Ameritrade one doesn't even show up in Play, but it side loaded fine for me. Had to side load Firefox as well.

I have App Backup & Restore automatically backing up the APK's from everything I installed on my Sensation. So I downloaded those, uploaded to the Nexus and installed OK. The only one I haven't made work is Dropbox.
They should just say, "App shows as being partially incompatible with your device. Install anyway?"
Hate forced to side load an app just because I'm blocked.

What would be nice if they'd say WHY so you don't have to guess. Also, that way you can email the dev and say "Market says your app won't install because of reason "555: No camera permission" or something.

It didn't for me and it wouldn't open after side-loading either. It's working now but I can't remember what I did to make it work. I think I had to side-load, then go to Accounts and add an account before opening the app for the first time.

I had this problem for months, even had to un-install apps that would no longer work because I could not update them, but got the Problem solved, changed the screen density in build.prop.
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 then You Go to Applications and wipe the cache and data for google play store and google services framework, turn Your phone off and on twice. give it a try
NOTE: I'm using the arc s with doomkernel v22
Goodluck

Hi!
Early times, when FroYo was on our devices there was a way to browse your paid apps on your Android Market. Name have change and now this Play market do not support it. Even this very new version, what we got.
Am I so stupid that I cannot find my way to search or browse my already paid apps or how you solve this? There would be a opportunity for 3rd part application for this. And best place to give hint is just here, on XDA Developers forum.
Or just give me a link to this app(s), what you have already found.
Uh, I came fast back to write more info. There seems to huge threads about asking lost or missing paid apps when installed a custom ROM. No no, this is not my problem. I can see my paid apps, but there is no search button or value/ string on the list what Google Android Play market order.
Isnt that just:
Open play store > Press menu button > My apps?
Google Android Play market | search for paid apps?!

In my case it shows just the apps, what I have installed to my phone.
I am looking a way how to search my paid apps on Google Play market. Or an app, what can do the same.
If you mean above PC browser case, then I get huge numbers of apps. First are apps currently installed on my phone. It means the Android OS or firmware version what I am currently using. Below - early firmwares - is the list of all apps what I have tryed, uninstalled etc. and the list is so huge that in my case it could show only start from A to letter E only. So, if my paid app start with letter F - Z, I cannot see anymore it. And browsing between A to E is terrible story too.
If Google Play market have similar value like File Managers have: name, day, type, size etc. it could easy to find your paid apps. Or a search manager or similar.
The Play Market is just crap when it comes to things like this. Several major tech sites have commented upon it, but Google seems to have no intention whatsoever to fix it.

I installed the GEL from the play store, but when I open it, it keeps saying I need to update Google Search, even though I've already got the latest version. I'm on CM11. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Side-loaded the APK instead of using the play store one, works fine now.

Will there be an option to change the launcher in future? Until now there is no "Launcher" option listed in "Settings" like on all the other CyanogenMod 11 devices! What exactly is the problem why the "Google Now Launcher" can't be installed via Google Play Store?

I have a quick question for my fellow Verizon S6 Edge users.
I use the Amazon app quite a bit and when going in to actually use it for the first time today it didn't open. So, I went on the Google Play store to see if there was an update or something, and to my surprise I didn't see it in my list of installed apps?!?!? Went into my application manager and it's definitely installed. I went to uninstall it and reinstall and of course it was one of the preinstalled apps and can only be disabled... So, after disabling I go into the play store and search Amazon to find "Amazon Shopping" app and it was the only one there for the actual store. Now, is that a new app from Amazon??? The self titled "Amazon" app is no longer even on the app store, yet it sits installed on my phone but disabled.
Just wanted to know if the main Amazon app works for you guys, or if you now have to Amazon apps because the first no longer works. Trying to see if it's just me or not.
I've rebooted, but since it's a preinstalled app that's not working... I'm not sure what else I can do if it's something I'm doing wrong. Wiped data in the application manager, re-enabled all the amazon apps that were pre installed to see if that helped and nothing. Just think it's weird that it doesn't even show up when searching for it in the app store, just the "Amazon Shopping" app shows up.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Works fine for me, ive updated to current version and have purchased with it etc....

Hmm, weird. Well I went on APKMirror.com and got the latest Amazon apk and updated it that way and it worked, that app that is... it still didn't show up in my app store for updates and what not. Also, it seems that because I have android wear installed it's giving me the "Amazon Shopping" app. They both work the same but with one exception, the shopping version works with a smart watch with some sort of voice commands. Just didn't want both installed if they did the same thing, no need for wasted space.
Thanks!

I noticed when I opened Amazon for the first time on this phone it made me log in through the Amazon App Store, which was strange to me. After I logged in through the App Store, the regular Amazon App updated and then it worked.

The pre-installed Amazon app is the "complete" version which you can't get through Google Play store due to Google changing the rules last fall. See here http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...ay-store-because-of-its-appstore-integration/ But you can still get it directly from Amazon and still kept up to date by Amazon.
The only app in the Play store itself is shopping only, hence the name.
I went to reinstall Google Camera from the Play Store and it no longer comes up. All that they have is the VR Camera. Does anyone else see this, and does anyone have a zip of the latest Google Camera I can install?
You don't need a zip unless you're putting the camera app into system. Just download a copy from APK Mirror and install. As to the camera on the Play Store, it no longer shows up in searches, which is quite interesting.
Sometimes it doesn't come up in searches for me, but ONLY when I'm on a Custom ROM.
On Stock MMB29V, it shows up just fine.
However, now that you've mentioned it, I just refreshed Play Store, it is gone!
I guess APKMirror is the way to go.
Could this be Google developing a new camera app for us? Or just a glitch?

I did try to manually insert the apk into system, set the correct permissions and for some reason the app won't show up in the latest Beanstalk rom.
Well, it appears that Google may have abandoned the camera app for non-nexus devices. Checking the Google Camera Page on a computer, the only compatible device is my Nexus 6. In addition, one of the requirements on that page is that you have a Nexus device running Android 6.x. I can only speculate at this point, but I don't think the camera not appearing in the Play Store on the device is a glitch.
Based upon the behavior you describe, where the camera app is found on stock but not on a custom ROM, Google must be filtering custom ROMs based upon signature. Does that mean they are creating a new camera app? Unknown, but if they are it likely will only be for the Nexus devices.
