Cant stream music - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated my note 5 with the latest software version. and i imedialty noticed that i can no longer stream music from pandord, slacker, spotify or any such apps. Facebool messanger also has a hard time connecting. I have run speed tests and everything looks fine all other apps work great i have not had any issuse with youtube and netflix, or streaming any cideo for that matter. It really seems to have affected only my music apps, which just sit there and buffer.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Coreplayer YouTube not working?

YouTube works fine in Opera and the Streaming Manager app but in Coreplayer Mobile it just constantly brings up the loading symbol when selecting a video.
Anyone else have this or know a fix? I am on Jacks 1.3 Lite ROM with the YouTube registry fix installed.
That's strange. Youtube works for me in Coreplayer. I am also using Jack's Lite Rom 1.03. I did not try if it works in Opera though.
You got to activate networkaccess in corplayersettings for youtube

It is ticked already
I can't get Youtube to work in Streaming Media
Have you tried ticking flv box in the file extensions/
I got an email from CorePlayer makers saying there is a bug and they are fixing it in the next release
I have come across a problem with Coreplayer and its YouTube, so I have decided to use this thread instead of starting my own using the same title.
Coreplayer plays YouTube movies. No problem with that, even more it plays them in excelent quality (setting h264 medium quality, flv high bandwidth). But for some reason it cannot stop them. When the video is over the loading sign (rotating circle) appears and the screen freezes. After a couple of seconds I hear audio as if the video started to play all over again, but the screen is still frozen on that last frame. When I press any button the audio stops as well and that is that. There is no other solution than removing the battery, which annoys me greatly.
Does any of you have the same problem and have you been able to solve it? Coreplayer plays youtube with the highest quality by farand would really like to see it work properly.
Anybody else with this wierd Youtube problem?
Except that it freezes my phone like, every 5 minutes, it works fine i guess.
Too bad I have to reset my phone every time, because if i wouldnt had to, it would be a good piece of software.
Using Coreplayer 1.3 btw.
Well I am pretty disapointed as well. The video playback of original divx files is jerky and if I have to encode I might as well encode to a file media panel recognises. And now the youtube thing. There are still podcasts, I hope I will not come across a problem there.
huh?
i dont get it... my coreplayer plays youtube great, and divx great... i did have the youtube option dissapear mysteriously, but i re-enabled it in the network setting and its worked great ever since...
ive watched 2 movies in divx - one was a fast paced action movie and it played absolutely perfectly the whole time. maybe you need to have certain settings ticked, or maybe the fact that ive used the various tweaks in this forum to speed up my sd card, and to optimize my cache settings and such is helping...
more info may help resolve this...unfortunately i dont know much technical jargon.. i fiddle until things work.
I got my core working again with an update, but the standalone youtube player and panel is MUCH easier and better to use.
Hi, i work with an HTC Touch Pro 2 and on it with the newest CorePlayer. But i can not watch any Youtube Videos. I can search, and browse the different categories. But when i want to start a video the player gets back to the starting screen.
The "normal" video playback works fine.
Why? Anybody else with this problem?
PS: I have activated the network settings.
Youtube has made a change to how their protocol works. CoreCodec knows about the isue and they said they have alreay fixed it on an internal build. Sadly we will probably have to wait a very long time for the fix to be released.
here, some videos work, some others not, like the 70% of them, just try to open but stop downloading without image
Anybody else getting this problem again?Youtube videos stopped playing for me since tuesday,i'm running coreplayer 1.3.6 windows mobile.
Yes same her, my CorePlayer 1.3.6 stopped playing Youtube end of July.
Is there any update out there?
Yep, doesn't work...lame

Music Player app problems

I have a MT3G, CM 4.2.11.1, with Stericson's lockscreen for same. This issue started to occur roughly with CM-4.2.9 I think. If I start a music player (Music, Meridian, Slacker, Pandora etc), and then attempt to do ANYTHING else on my phone, the music player will stop and close. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have a 16gb uSDHC card, with 128k swap, if that makes a difference.
EDIT: Also, if I start another app THEN the music player, it will work fine. FOR EXAMPLE: If I start the SleepTimer app, set the timer, and then start Pandora and turn my screen off, it will work fine. However, if I start Pandora first, then open SleepTimer, it will close Pandora and I'll have to go back into it. Or, if I've started SleepTimer, and Pandora, and then I try to use the browser, it will stop Pandora.
I use Pandora as my example because I use it most often, but this has happened with all 4 listed media players above.
I was having those problems too, where the music player just has a black screen, the phone lags for about 30 seconds then I get the FC thing. This was happening on both cyan and dwangs ROMs. After a while it stopped, it works fine now. I don't know what was causing it. It might have been another app I had on the phone that was conflicting with it.
i have this problem as well. it is really annoying, and would love to know how to fix it on cm 4.2.12
I used to have this issue also. It was fixed in one of the newest CM updates.

[Q] Issue with streaming media?

Anyone else having a problem with streaming media since the update to Prior to that it was perfect, but since then, I can't get a single video to play.
Have read around regarding this issue and in the end it looks like a codec issue. It's solved by installing a video player (Mobo Player), but given the default gallery can't hand off to an external player, you're somewhat forced to get a DLNA/UPnP App too (UPnPlay) to find the media. Hopefully there'll be a way to streamline it. Two Apps to do something that we could do on stock Froyo seems a bit much.
Try Twonky Server.
This works in both directions and I have no problems with it.

Chromecast and Google Music All Access

For those that have it, what do you think about it? Is it a nice way to stream music?
It's great since my 'good' speakers are attached to my TV. Works fast and easily.
It's OK. The on screen display is lacking and even though I've synced all my music to Google, some of my albums are side loaded and will not play through chromecast. I love all access for streaming on my phone, but I don't think it's there quite yet for chromecast.

its fantastic. I keep no music on my phone and rely on streaming it. This is great for chromecast and I even talked my girlfriends parents into doing some upgrades to their sound system in their house since it goes through the whole house and outside which makes chromecast great for no longer having to go inside to change the music.

I'm having problems streaming to it with my Nexus 4.
I can connect and stream the first song with no problems, but when the screen sleeps it doesn't always stream to the next song.
50% of the time it'll automatically stream to the next song in the playlist if I manually turn the Nexus 4 screen back on.
30% of the time after I turn the screen back on, I'll get an error message that says "this track could not be played, and I'll have to manually select the next song"
20% of the time chromecast will be disconnected and I'll have to manually play the next song, and reconnect to chromecast.
Being a native Google App I had hoped that Google Music would work flawlessly, but it's been poor thus far. Hopefully an update will fix the issue.
I'm having issues too. I'm not sure why, but I keep getting "Playback error, Unable to play the song. Can't play a sideloaded song remotely."
So any music that is in the Google Music cloud AND on my device are not playable? I am not sure. I haven't been able to get Google Music to play from my phone - and if you use a PC, then the only way it seems is using the tab casting, which needs some polish.

The case of having the same song locally and on the music cloud not playing through ChromeCast seems to be a universal problem right now.
When I cast a tab and a video is being played inside the tab, I can't seem to get any sound to output through ChromeCast.
Another thing I tried was to drag and drop a local video file into Chrome and cast that tab. I just played a movie file that was .mp4 (.avi's don't won't), the video played (although a little slow on the framerate) but there was no sound at all.

Same issue here. This is a design flaw that I'm hoping Google will rectify with either a Google Music update or a Chromecast update.

I found that playing music from the Google Music "cloud", as in NOT my music - works great. If it's in my library, does not play. I just signed up for the 30 day trial of Google Music All Access or whatever it is called, and I can now stream music to the ChromeCast.
Strange behavior for sure.

It will stream anything as long as there isn't a copy of it on your phone.

I have a few thousand songs pinned to my phone and they all cast fine.
Echodawg/arrghh,
I have had this issue. It depends on how you have it setup.
If you have everything uploaded to Google Music cloud and then if you copy the files over to your phone as well and try to play those songs, it will not play and give you a 'Cannot play sideloaded songs' message.
For this to work, you should NOT copy any songs from your computer to the phone directly, you can and should ONLY 'pin' it....

I'm talking about songs that you've manually loaded onto your phone. Not cached/pinned copies of googles music.

Ah. I see.
Why not just upload and pin?
I have mine pinned to my SD card, 40 gigs or so.
Works great!

Unless something has changed recently, pinned songs get deleted from the phone every time you flash a new ROM. I go back and forth between cm and pa and stock. I don't want to have to download 5gb of music every time.

I pin to extSD + Titanium Backup.
And upload once and done, you can side load your music on the phone, but you could then access it in Gmusic too.

I've tried that. The issue I have is that when I load a new ROM, the first time it boots up and Google music runs in the background it wipes the pinned songs. Titanium backup doesn't actually backup the pinned songs so not sure what you mean there.

Yeah I can vouch for this issue too. I sync a list of podcasts to my phone through iSyncr, and the same podcasts also get synced to the cloud via iTunes/Google Play. On my phone, any synced podcast won't cast because it's sideloaded, even though the same podcast is already in the cloud. On my tablet, which I don't store local music on, I can launch the same podcast and it does cast to Chromecast.
As for All Access - there was an overlap of a few days between my free trial and getting Chromecast, and it did work nicely. However I was under the mistaken impression that signing up for the free trial of All Access before June 30 would give me a lifetime discount. I did not realize I'd have to maintain a continuous subscription. So I cancelled at the end of the free trial and no more discount for me. I will probably not sign up again as I anticipate other music apps becoming Chromecast-compatible soon.
I see an update to Google Play Music available.
v.5.1.1107k
*Chromecast improvements
Hopefully it fixed the problems we've been having
I see the update in Play Store but no update button. Tried uninstalling updates and then updating, but I still have the previous build. Guess it hasn't "rolled out" to my accounts yet.

[DISCUSSION] - Which music streaming service are you using ?

There are a lot of great music streaming services out there. Let me know which one(s) are you using with your personal notes so that I can decide which platform I should switch to.
I am a long time Spotify Premium user, who utilized Spotify connect religiously. But as we all know Spotify doesn't really put in a lot of effort on their Android app. So recently I have been having issues with playback (crashes in the background) and as Spotify is only making their app worse with every update on Android, I thought it is time to switch to another platform/go offline. What are your thoughts and experiences with the current music streaming services?
YouTube Music is very good app.
I have YouTube premium so I use Youtube Music and Google Play Music.
I use YouTube and Spotify - the best apps for me.
spotify ofc
I use Spotify. JRE podcast is moving to Spotify so that's a plus.
YouTube
YouTube
Made good use of my .5tb SD card and a 220 gb CD/HDCD collection that's ripped to hdds as wav files.
Over 6000 songs means I don't get bored of the music just listening at times.
Poweramp does an excellent job of managing playlists and playback. It's graphic equalizer that allows unlimited saved presets to be saved by song/album/playlist plus settings/playlist backup makes it a complete and unparalleled Android player solution.
The online sources don't cover a lot of what I want and are a pain to use. Worse I can't dial the sound in and/or saved multiple EQ presets.
I use Spotify to listen to my music
i just have all of my favorite songs on a youtube playlist. saves me money.
I dont let anyone choose music for me, never. So no need for any stream online platform. My music is with me on my SD card 128GB. more than enough!
I will never depend on the internet to access music...
I am a Spotify user but can you tell what's the difference in this??????
