Best rom for battery life - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I don't know if a thread already exist but I would like to know which rom is the best for battery life ? I have KK rom 23.0.1.A.5.77 rooted and I have 6H-6H30 SOT with web, 1h-2h game/video, wifi/data on, stamina on, auto brightness. It is good or it could be better with other rom ?
Thank you

Battery results are very subjective and depend on each user, what they have installed, how they use their phone or even things like what charger you use, can eventually effect the battery life.
I have looked into battery drain in some detail
The best rom I've tried for battery life was Slim 5, not the latest build. I found 4.8 to be the best, my battery meter hardly moves. People moaned that it had a rubbish benchmark, so Wajk, the dev, upped the clock speed for builds 4.9 & 5. Consequently the later builds were not as good with battery. It seems pointless quoting screen on times and what's on as my usage will be entirely different from yours, suffice to say that I don't charge it up more than twice a week.
I am still on 4.8 now.
There are the KK diehards, but I personally believe that the Z3c was built to be a LL phone, it works best on 5.1.1.
There are reports that 'doze' which replaces stamina mode in MM builds is giving good results, but honestly I don't think MM is worth the pain for at least another month.

I've tried all slim's LP but for me the best rom for battery life is KK 23.0.1.A.5.77. As you can see from attached pics i can get 9h SOT with internet always on (wifi and data), screen brightness at mid and never in offline mode.

Yes but what did you do with your smartphone ? Web, game, video ?

Rooted, xposed, lot of web and messaging. Games yes but only dice games, so no stress for cpu. Anyway, with the same usage i can get only 5h SOT with SLIM roms.

Try use Miui 7

Assuming "LB" means locked boot loader, I have to ask: does boot loader status have any connection to battery life?

No...unless you want a custom kernel that is battery focused

O.K., that makes sense. I guess XMoDuLeSx was saying that going with all-stock gives him the best battery life.

I just don't understand. Cm7 tiamat 1.1.4 smartass v2 newest radio and matching ril, no wifi and background data turned completely off. This is significantly worse than any other rom including stock. Any ideas?

Charge to 100 percent then delete battery stats.
See if that helps.
It's the best rom for battery for all others i've talked to

I've calibrated the battery twice since installing CM7 in the past 4 days. I am even underclocking with Incredicontrol at -75, but to no avail.
HMM Android system is chewing through battery.
I'm not really sure why.

Ooh God no...
Mine isn't even in the list.
I don't know if it will help as I just downloaded it today but this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.freeb.automm seems like it should help battery life because you can customize how much memory goes to background applications.

@Scoobysnacks Are you using Cynogenmod or MIUI? I'm on MIUI and found that Android System and Call Standby always seem to be listed in at the top of the battery use processes (much more than Display). Whereas for Sense ROMs, Display is almost always at the top.
try a modified kernel , like tiamat
Oops sorry didnt see you already using it. Make sur you use 1.1.4 and not .5 because that kernel has battery problems you could try stock cm7 kernel as well

same here, android system 40%, standby 36%.
im on miui.us 1.11.4 and tiamat 1.1.5
Currently Mobile standby 47% and phone idle 45% for me. Android system not in the list.
CM7.1 and Tiamat 1.1.5, so it can't be the kernel or the ROM. Did you do a full wipe?
Try running logcat on the phone and seeing what messages are in there, something seems to be keeping the phone awake a lot judging by the blue stripes below your graph.

[Q] about to buy OB..need some answers pleaaaaaase :)

1- i heard alot about battery problem and drain so fast..so is it right or just normal like all rest of android phones (need some one use diff. phones) ??
2- is there any other general problems in this mobile ??
thank U in advance
1) battery problems isnt phone specific, if you decide to use it just as a phone some users have reported 6 days on a single charge with minimal internet/ screen on usage
2) only main problems with this phone (to me) is LG software support..... but thats really a non issue what with the wonderful roms our devs/chefs have for our device
large display will be always drain battery. there are no problems with the phone but sometimes are errors in the various roms

I'll say that it does drain quite fast, but I don't think it's because of the display, but rather the signal and CPU! Optimus Black's NOVA Display uses less battery than normal LCDs.
Here's the battery usage for 2d 13hours:

I had a Motorola Defy and the battery was soo good, I loved it...!
However I agree that optimizing your use by few tricks will help to keep the battery good.
You can use Profile Scheduler for example. It can control brightness, Wi-fi, apps, ringtone, signal, etc at different schedules! Quite handy at night (I use airplane mode, and not even 1% lost for 8 hours!)
Battery does drain fast, so I took it to the service centre and they repalced the battery.
Did make a differecence.
1.the battery on my OB with froyo was even better than on the iphone 4s with the exactly the same usage, now that i'm on GB things are not that worse after all, with Zeus rom i have 10-12 hours of intense usage, 3g always on, fb messenger, whatsapp, some browsing, market etc, mails, sincro on...i think i's not that bad, I know that iphone 4s has almost the same drain...
2. as for the rest I really had no problems with it! and with Huexxx's rom it's a jewel, really nice aesthetically and functionally...
OB is a very good device.. but you can find much better..

Battery life

My battery life is really bad that i have to charge the phone twice a day sometimes more
i tried every thing said here on the forums, i disabled LG bloatware, i lowered the brightness to 0% but with no luck
so is the only way is to unlock the device and install a custom rom? or could it be the battery hardware itself? because i realized that the battery charges really fast, also i just got the phone 4 days ago is it normal that out of the box the battery life is this bad?
EDIT: it looks like i'm running UAE firmware, would it help if i flashed a kdz file for a European firmware? if yes which firmware should i install from these http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?

3h on screen

'twas the same for me. Today I've turned off second cpu core and now the drain is more or less comparable.

Make an init.d script and put the following in it:
echo "0" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online

Will this disable the core totally?
I am currently testing SetCPU and will see if this works.

How much screen on time do you get?
Did you use it all the time before capturing that screenshot or was it idle?
Sent from my Xperia V using XDA Free mobile app
I did normal usage on it, or let's say the same as any other day. Using WhatsApp mostly. My stock ROM gives me at least 19h without using stamina mode, CM give me a good day from a new installation, but after day two I get this battery drain.

The next time it happens, take a screenshot like this, a screenshot of the graph when you first get into battery usage...and also take a screenshot of your screen on time (you get to it by tapping on "screen" in battery usage tab). Because if you get around 3:45 - 4:30 hours of screen on time, it's not bad battery life but actually maximum of what our phone can get.

Extremely poor battery life

I have my Mi5 since April of 2016 and I really enjoy this phone, it's perfect for me and still super fast, but it lacks in the battery department.
I've already bought 2 new original batteries and tried over 3-4roms and I cant get over 2H of SOT. The original battery was from 2016 so I replaced it with a 2017 branded one, and it gave me almost the same results, so I got a newer one from 2018. I get the same results as the 2017 one... Can this be a hardware malfunction or something that's draining it too fast?
This is my battery usage on PixelExperience with a battery saving kernel:

}
Take into consideration I dont have GPS on, neither bluetooth, neither 4G, I use Wi-Fi 90% of the time.
Unplugged from the charger 3h ago and already at 63% with only 41min of SOT. I get almost the same results with Xiaomi.eu rom, official dev and stable releases, etc. I'm yet to try LineageOS, but I think it will be the same.
EDIT: here's an updated battery usage.. 20% left with only 1h 8m of SOT
Hi, I'm in your condition. Now I have the pixel Experience. I did not understand if it was useful to change the battery. Has not the situation improved? Is it difficult to replace?
Was the battery original? Does it have the chip to measure the temperature?

Yes both I tried were original. Do you mean the kernel change? I didn't test the original kernel, so I cant say if its better
