Hoping for some help here! I'm not a complete noob and I have unlocked and flashed customs ROMs on a few devices before but I'm going round in circles with the Mate S I bought yesterday.
I think that I have successfully unlocked the bootloader (see attached pic) after I got the code online and it is also FRP unlocked. I don't seem to be able to flash TWRP though. I'm using twrp-2.8.7.0-carrera.img from here. After trying to flash TWRP with ADB I don't seem to have any recovery at all.
Vol Up + Power = Stuck on Huawei logo. Have to power off.
Vol Down + Power = Phone just starts up normally.

But I can't get into recovery. On the TWRP website it mentions that you may have to manually enter recovery the first time you boot after installing TWRP to stop the custom recovery being overwritten. I have tried using Vol Up + Power on the first boot but nothing happens.
Any ideas? Can't start to use the phone until it's rooted ans I can restore some apps.
Thanks in advance.
i've got exactly the same problem since i converted my L09 to UL00, recovery is not booting up anymore and supersu is not working either.

Tried this numerous times, downloaded the TWRP.img again just to be sure.
As per my first post, the TWRP.img gives me an OKAY message but holding down either Vol Up + Vol Down + Power or just Vol Up + Vol Down and issuing the fastboot reboot command just leaves the phone showing the Huawei logo.
What has changed is that the Huawei eRecovery has reappeared. Vol Up + Power makes Huawei eRecovery start.
Vol Down + Power starts the 'FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE' screen as per the pic I attached in the first post.
Any more ideas???
Thanks.

Rhymes with anchors, starts with W!
OMG it works for me !
I downloaded the entire firmware with erecovery this night (by pressing power and volume up while the phone is plugged on the computer), since i modified the phone to ul00, it took me the whole night (chinese server i guess). so this morning I rebooted my phone and type the usual command :
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (or whatever is the name of your file)
Code:
fastboot reboot (my phone was still connected in usb, and i was pressing both volume up and volume done before press enter)
And voila !

Same with me, tried your methods but it never goes into recovery just freezes at the Huawei logo.
I'm not a developer so I've no idea but is it possible that Three Ireland could have added more security to the Mate S? Seems like a lot of trouble to go to.

After you installed and tried to reboot, it usually says something like " Root is not installed. Do you want to install?"
What option did you chose there?

Tried it both ways.
I'm having the same problem, but if you search for even a copy of the software online to try and extract the recovery.img to re-flash the same one, you can't find the same build.
It's infuriating.
Edit: I don't know if any of you have tried to Factory reset from the settings menu, but it won't let you do it now either, so if we were to return the phone to three then you will be sending it off with all of your data on it.

I wouldn't have bought the phone if I knew this was going to be such a pain!
Yeah, I tried a reset and the phone just hangs on the Huawei logo.
However I'm sure there's a genius out there that's gonna work this out!!!

Hi, really hoping someone can help me here.
I have a Nexus One that was running a stock Android 2.2 FRF91, and I want to go to a CM ROM.
I've been following the wiki guide here.
I have completed the "Unlocking the Bootloader" section.
I have chosen to use Amon_Ra's recovery. When I ran the command this is what I got back in the command window, so it looks to have been successful.
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (3962 KB)... OKAY [ 0.764s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 1.576s]
finished. total time: 2.340s
I was then able to update the Radio. Now I'm stuck trying to flash the ROM.
This is exactly what I do leading up to my current problem.
Switch the phone on holding down the trackball.
Select Bootloader option.
Select Recovery.
At this point it reboots, but I am left with a little green android man and a white triangle with an orange ! mark.
HELP! Thank you.

Simple:
After install recovery reboot holding VOL DOWN and enter first time in Amon-RA.
Now "flash update.zip"----->CyanogenMod6-RC2 (it contains root etc.)
If you reboot and retry to enter in recovery you'll have little android in triangle...that's because ota FRF91 has a script in system/etc/install-recovery.sh that at every boot change at default recovery. If you have root you can delete that file, but if you haven't you have to do that:
1. install recovery
2. at reboot enter directly in recovery (at first time)
3. install cyano rom
4. reboot
5. now you can flash amon-ra recovery and it is forever
Hello, and thanks for your quick reply!
Still problems though...I'll note exactly what I'm doing.
Phone is not connected to USB and is switched off.
Hold down VOL DOWN and Power button.
Press VOL DOWN and then press in the Power button to select RECOVERY.
Now the phone reboots and I'm back to the little green man with the triangle and orange ! mark.

So..
Enter in fastboot and reload recovery with fastboot, at the first reboot enter in recovery....first time you'll enter in AMon-RA and do what i wrote up.
Sorry, so just to be clear...
Are these the steps to follow?
Connect phone to PC.
Power on phone holding down the power button
From the PC running the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
At first reboot after this hold down VOL DOWN to flash CM update.zip
Is that correct?
Thanks.

No (IMPORTANT (not reboot completely):
1. connect phone and POWER UP holdin VOL DOWN
2. enter in fastboot and reload amon-ra recovery first
3. at reboot (after you have loaded amon-ra) VOL DOWN and choose recovery with POWER button----------->AMOn-RA
...............understood?
OK, so I'm doing what you say.
I have the phone connected to the PC.
I turn it on holding the VOL DOWN button.
I get to a white screen with 3 green android men and 4 options (FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, and SIMLOCK).
From a command prompt on the PC I try to run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, but this just sits there saying ( waiting for device ).
If I try to enter the RECOVERY mode it reboots back the point point where I was stuck to begin with.
I really appreciate your help, please stick with me! Thanks.
WAIT! Think I've got it working...will report back shortly.

When you are in blank screen you have to see fastboot in red.
In prompt have you written: fastboot devices?
It gives you such a "HTC 123455666..." If yes you have to load recovery like first time...after you have to choose recovery in blank screen if possible directly with POWER BUTTON...i hope..
Hurrah! Think it looks to be complete now.

Hello,
I tried to flash Slim ROM on my TMo HTC One and I accidentally soft-bricked it.
First, I unlocked the bootloader, put the zip folder in storage and then went straight for flashing a ROM.
Since then, I am stuck in a bootloop even when I try to run recovery - I flashed TWRP.
Can anoyone help?

yes, this is pretty simple:
You can boot into your bootloader by pressing the power button for a long time and if the display turns off, press the volume down button and hope you jump into your bootloader.. try this out until you manage to get into your bootloader. If this doesn't work, you should hold your phone below a bright light so the sensor recognizes it.. then play around with your power button and volume buttons and you should be able to boot into your bootloader. Then connect your phone to the PC and use this fastbootcommand after you navigated to fastboot on your phone:
Code:
fastboot erase chache
Now you should be able to boot into your recovery..
If it helped, hit the thanksbutton or ask other questions by quoting my post so I get notified and I can answer
If you managed to enter the recovery, say it, I write further instructions... Because if I write it now and the steps above didn't work... I wrote it for no reason and yeah... just say it

I would simply reflash recovery (maybe a different one) to make sure it's not the file you have

ok.. in that case we have to do some other stuff..
Download the TWRP recovery, it's know to work better than CWM at it's current state, you can download the file for your HTC One here:
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7 (credits to: http://teamw.in/ thanks for your awesome work!)
Then when you are in the fastboot mode, use this command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "C:\pathToYourRecovery\recoveryname.img"
Then boot into recovery... and if this doesn't work too, try this command:
Code:
fastboot boot "C:\pathToYourRecovery\recoveryname.img"
If you were able to get into the recovery, or if you were not able, pls answer
!! :good: It worked and I got successfully booted the recovery, I think I was flashing a wrong version of twrp before
I rooted my phone yesterday, it will load the fastboot menu but if i select any option(like recovery or normal boot) the phone will simply power off, does anyone have any idea whats going on? other than that the phone is fine. Because of this I can't boot into recovery.
PS. i rebooted once and found the CFQtest app in the app drawer after a failed attempt to reboot into recovery via the fastboot menu, however in panic I didn't let it complete the test and switched off the phone.

yes, vol- for scroll and vol+ for selecting, that's what I did but turns out that the problem was with the improperly unlocked bootloader. I had unlocked the bootloader via the autoroot for windows and I remember an error screen appearing once. So i relocked and manually unlocked the bootloader. its all working fine now.

Download your phone ROM from HWFF site, copy to sd card, in bootloader ( Fastboot&Rescue mode ) Flash TWRP, boot in twrp and flash the ROM you download, in TWRP go to reboot and select recovery, you will go to default Huawei recovery then do factory reset and try to boot.

another option would be:
Make sure you have downloaded the OTA Update Zip file
Now Rename the downloaded file to update.zip
Extract the Update.Zip file
Create a folder named Dload in the device’s internal storage or on your SD card and put the update.app (Extracted Update.zip) file there
then press the volume up & volume down & power button
then youre system should update the firmware you downloaded

thanks will try the whole problem is the phone cant charge it loops the whole time on the huawei logo its the same feeling like when you press power button it gives a little vibrate then the logo shows now its doing that the whole time, the batery image allso on the phone is a red colour not a green one when charging so i have to plug the phone on usb to get it on and i dont even have to press the power button to switch it on it just goes straight to the huawei logo then it switches on and off the whole time, if i hold power button down and plug in the usb the phone wont come on if i leave the power button it goes into looping.
can it be that from a fell that the lcd broke the phone can be soft bricked cause it was still working before i took it to replace the lcd you could just see a small amount of the home screen on the lcd, im out of options this side cause even if i put the firmware on sd card its not going to work if i hold down volume buttons and power button cause phone is looping

thanks for the info would aprecciate it if you can get me the right twrp. is that firmware you gave me the full OTA the correct one for my device? they plugged another battery on the phone when mine was out and it did the same thing looping on the huawei logo, just wondering do you call this a soft brick that i have with my phone or is it a hard brick?
My device went int bootloop suddenly while I was using it. I not able to get in fastboot (when I press Power + Down it shows fastboot window for a sec and reboots again ) or recovery mode(When I press Power + Up, Screen shows up saying no command).
I was using official build(July patch). I have not enabled ADB. My bootloader is also locked.
Is it possible to get this device working?
Any help will be appreciated.

This is normal behavior of stock recovery: seeing "no command" hold "power" and click "Vol+", - to get to the stock recovery menu (btw, search would 100% give you this tip even in these forums).
As you are locked, and thus you have surely lost user data, you can try to make factory reset from recovery menu.
Yet I'd try to connect phone to power and make numerous attempts to reboot, occasionally rebooting into fastboot and into recovery, - with the hope that phone will switch into the other A/B slot.
If nothing helps, TestPoint/EDL is the only option except service.
But again, the problem may be hardware issue, and as you are supposed to disassemble phone preforming TestPoint, I'd check connectors inside and tried to reboot again before reflashing in MiFlash. And do not forget to reflash in fastboot after MiFlash reflash (and unlock phone - which I did immediately after purchase).
