[Q] Update unlocked SM-G925A - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hey, I can't update my SM-G925A to marshmallow 6.0.1, probably because it's unlocked. I thought about Odin but I couldn't find the right ROM online. Can someone help me find the right ROM or help me update it in another way? Thanks

Marshmallows is not available yet for G925A. Maybe will get it 2 years from now.

Marshmallow was just released for the G925A today, G920A yesterday. I've been calling AT&T every ****ing day for the past three weeks. FINALLY, the update is here. I'm still waiting for it to hit my region though. I would love a firmware file.

If that's true, super happy here.

At this point, I'm honestly not sure. Probably called AT&T over 20 times just today and each rep seems to be more stupid than the last. Some say it's out, others have no clue. As a new member, I'm not allowed to post the link, but it says on samsungs website that the AT&T S6 (non edge) is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. If you'd like to see for yourself, go to samsung.com, in the search box type "g925a marshmallow" and click on the one that says something like "what software is my Galaxy s6 running?"
I am so done with this carrier. Never will I buy a phone locked to AT&T again.

Just got off the phone with a rep that seemed to know what he was talking about. He did confirm that the S6 has started rolling out, but the edge has not. He also said that if the s6 is out, the edge shouldn't be more than a week behind. He told me he'd call me as soon as it's released and as soon as I get the news, I'll update you guys. I know how frustrating this is!

Saw the same page you're talking about. Sounds like the OTA should be rolling out in the next couple of days.

Instructions on how to get 6.01 on G925A
1. YOU MUST HAVE OJ9 update on your phone.
2. Check "about devices" under baseband version.
3. Download all files from this link
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B04l-XMi07VKdkY0ZExzeEVHcFk
4. Open adb fastboot (MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS CONNECTED TO YOUR PC)
5. Put this file (SS-G925AUCU3BOJ9-to-U3CPD6-UP) in your main PC directory C:\ and change the name
SS-G925AUCU3BOJ9-to-U3CPD6-UP to OTA and place a copy of OTA in your phone main directory.
6. Shutdown phone.
7. Restart phone by holding down the POWER, HOME, and UP button at the same time. DONT release until you get an UPDATE LOGO on your phone.
8. Go to your computer in the adb fastboot and type adb devices
9. Then type adb sideload DO NOT HIT ENTER YET!!
10. Go to your main directory on your computer where you put the OTA file and drag it on the
adb fastboot after adb sideload and hit ENTER.
11. This process will take 1hr so be patient and let the phone reboot.
12. Once the phone reboot, you will have 6.01!!!!!

Tried both ways (Instructions on thread and attached to file) and no luck as of yet. I will retry this afternoon. has anyone else tried this yet?

Seems dumb but the only thing that I needed to do to get it to accept the ota.zip was to reboot. My guess is that windows has to be rebooted after installing adb/fastboot.

Samsung Experience Kiosk is a No-Go
AT&T unlocked my Samsung S6 Edge, at my request. They offered me an out last February when
they changed the DATA plan pricing structure. When Marshmallow was released I took my phone
the AT&T store where I purchased it (with the receipt) for the update. They would not touch my
phone since I was no longer a customer. So I called Samsung Corporate several times and was told
that since the phone was out of warranty, there was nothing they could(would) do. The last
Samsung rep I spoke to suggested that I take it to a Samsung Experience Kiosk in Best Guy for the
update. I took it to Kiosks in two different states and both refused to touch the phone for fear of
being sued should they "Brick" it. I finally got it updated by refusing to let them service any other
customers until it was done. It seems that the Kiosks are sub-contractors and not store employees.
The store manager got involved because I was costing him sales. To make a long story short, I now
have Marshmallow but have not gotten any security patches in a year. If you decide to try a Samsung
Experience Kiosk, be prepared to stand your ground - even then its a coin toss whether you get the
update.

2) After you get that green check mark for the driver installation, extract the file you just downloaded (this is referring to the original poster's zip file link).
3) Run "CheckBeforeAction.bat" on Admin mode (Right click, run as administrator; this file can be found in the FOLDER of the zip file you downloaded earlier.)
3a) Follow prompts on the window that opens.
3b) If you follow the prompts, it should have restarted your device and you should be in a black screen with some minor text (aka Fastboot).

Help us help the community!

It would be helpful to a lot of people with bricked phones if we could obtain the full firmware package for the marshmallow update. It isn't released yet, but it should be a little after Verizon decides to start rolling it out again. If you'd like to help us out with this, please do the following:
To do this, you need a windows PC and a Droid Turbo running any official firmware. That's it! Your bootloader status is irrelevant, and your phone will not be affected by this process if you do it properly.
1. Plug your phone into your computer.
2. If you're on marshmallow, tap the notification that pops up and change your USB mode to Software Installation. If you're on any other official firmware, skip this step.
3. You should see the installer for the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant pop up on your computer. Install it and start it.
4. Boot your phone into fastboot mode (turn it off, turn it on while holding volume down) and plug it into your computer.
5. If you are on lollipop right now, in the future, it will give you the option to upgrade to marshmallow. If it says you are up to date, the package isn't out yet.
6. If you are on marshmallow, it will also tell you that you are up to date. Look for an option to restore your phone. If you don't see one, the package isn't out yet.
7. If you ARE able to upgrade to/restore marshmallow, the package is yours for the taking! Tell it to upgrade or restore as is applicable to you.
8. It will start downloading the firmware package. When it gets to 100% and tells you it's going to start installing it on your phone, unplug your phone from the computer.
9. Navigate to C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\MSU and find the zip file that is about 1 GB and some change. That's what we need!
10. Upload it, post it and be a hero. Or if you prefer, send it to me and I will reupload it and make it available.
Thanks in advance. I would do this, but I don't want to keep official software on my phone. I'm having too much fun with the 7.1 releases.

I could use a little help guys

Hi guys I'm trying to flash Jovi's Custom Rom. I accidentally pressed the update button on my phone that allows the Latest update from t-moble to kill the phone so It wont charge. Luckily I have quite a but of battery power left and I'm franticly trying to flash a jovi's custom rom. currently I'm getting a "Failed" message when trying to flash on ODEN 3.12 here are the directions I followed to the letter but no success.
First Thing Your Going To Do Is Download Both graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.zip And N930T_Note7_Adb_Rootkit_And_Odin_Pack.zip Files From The Download Link Section Below.
2. Extract All The Files From N930T_Note7_Adb_Rootkit_And_Odin_Pack.zip Onto Your PC Desktop, You Will Then Have Eight Files On Your Desktop Which Will Be MODIFIED_TMO_SPR_N930PVPU1APH3_REV00_ENGBOOT_FIRMW ARE.tar.md5, graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.img, SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe , adb-setup-1.4.3.exe, CommandPrompt.bat, Odin3.exe, Odin3.ini, And sun7.
3. If You Haven't Setup ADB On Your PC Yet Or Installed The Samsung USB Drivers, Just Open Both Executables SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe And adb-setup-1.4.3.exe And Complete Both The Setup Processes. Once Done You Should Now Have A Created ADB Directory Which Should Be Located At C:\adb. Once ADB Is Setup, Place The sun7 Folder And CommandPrompt.bat Inside Your ADB Folder From The New Directory.
4. Now Put Your Phone Into Download Mode By Powering Off Your Device First And Then Hold The "Volume Down+Home+Power Buttons" At The Same Time Until You See The Download Mode Warning Screen. Now Press The "Volume Up Button" And Then Insert Your Samsung USB Plug.
5. Now Open Odin3.exe, Click On "AP", Select "MODIFIED_TMO_SPR_N930PVPU1APH3_REV00_ENGBOOT_ FIRM WARE.tar.md5", And Then Click On "Start". Wait For A Couple Of Minutes For The Modified N930PVPU1APH3 Engboot Firmware To Finish Installing. After this step it says failed so this is where I'm suck currently at the bootloader. thanks guys for your help

You should be able to download it in Sammobile, they usually have every firmware available for Samsung phones. Then you would want to checkout the N7A their accepting beta testers for v2 of the app. Maybe check with them before to see how you should proceed on reinstalling the initial firmware to avoid the update again.

No problem I've been using package disabler pro & N7A's shield for a while now and haven't had any issues. Plus N7A is a really great community especially when other forums don't provide much assistance. I think about 80% off the people still using the Note 7 have either joined N7A or the N7 Rebels (I've heard they charge for their app & assistance but haven't verified myself). ?

Ok I'd check the help and tutorials section for re-flashing firmware after an update, cause I'm not sure how you would avoid getting the update again unless you have a some sort of shield or package disabling app in place.

Hey just giving you an update. Phone still stuck at boot loader but I have watched the lady known as catwoman video on youtube. I have downloaded and unzipped all the files and even tried to flash without success. Oden keeps giving me a fail. The only problem is with the smart switch application she recommended for download. I downloaded it and ran the app like suggested. It said that the my device is unsupported by smart switch. I cam to the conclusion that this is the way I should have started vs wiping everything which is the reason I'm stuck at the boot loader because there is no data on my phone. Here are the steps I took to get past this problem.
1. Reinstalled Smart Switch, but after the re- install no success.
2. I reopened Smart Switch and clicked the tab that says "MORE" then on Emergency Software & instillation. I followed the steps which included imputing my device model number and S/N. Did that but my device is still reading as a unsupported device on smart switch. I'm in progress of contacting her to see if she or any of her team as any ideas. Hopefully I'm back up and running soon. I cant wait for the note 8 so I can be done with this

New Nexus 6 on Marshmallow without SIM Card - Can I still update to 7.1.1?

Bought a new in box N6 that comes with Android 6.0.1. Checking system update via WiFi can't find any updates to 7.1.1. Are system updates tied to having carrier service? I'd like to just use this device as an e-reader and for media consumption. Is there a way to force this update without root? Thanks!
I'm not really sure don't have a Nexus 6 yet although im sure it'd be possible thru recovery possibly
Sent from my LG-M153 using Tapatalk
New in box Nexus 6 devices come with Android 5.0 standard, thus yours isn't new if it comes with Android 6.0.1. Updates are not tied to having carrier service, but if you want stock Android 7.1.1 on the device you'll have to flash a ROM using ADB (Android Debug Bridge). OTA (Over The Air) updates for the Nexus 6 do not go past Android 7.0.0, even though Android 7.1.1 ROMs are available for download from Google. For more information on how to manually update the N6, please check out the sticky posts in the General forum.
P.S. None of this requires root.

Hmm, well mine was sealed when I got it, so how can that be? I would manually update, as I'm not new to rooting (have had rooted Galaxy S3, Sony Xperia Z3C, etc), but unfortunately, I'm one of those unlucky ones that have that dreaded "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) when connecting to Windows 10. I see that plenty of other Nexus owners have had this issue as well. I can't for the life of me solve this, and I've tried every suggestion I've googled. Any idea how else I can update without using a computer, or maybe you know a workaround to this Windows 10 BS?
"New" Nexus 6: Was your box shrinkwrapped? If so, it's a rewrap as Nexus 6 boxes do not come shrinkwrapped. On a new Nexus 6 you have a label that must be cut to get into the box. In this case, the version of Android on your device is a dead giveaway that it isn't new. I purchased mine brand new from Amazon 19 months ago, when Android 6.x was readily available for the device, and out of the box it came with Android 5.0.
Unknown USB issue: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/fix-unknown-usb-device-device-t3375320
I can't guarantee the above will be of much help as I don't have this issue on any of my Windows 10 devices.
Do you have a phone with the same size SIM chip? Have you tried just putting it into the Nexus 6 to see if it will update that way?

Not shrinkwrapped. Just the sticker cover on the box sealing it. Anyway, I saw that link, but not sure what key would be appropriate for the Nexus 6, as the key the poster wrote on that might be for the HTC? I think i would need to change that to the device ID for this, but since my computer won't even recognize the N6, no details appear for me. WOuld you happen to know it? Thanks

I have one in my iPhone. Not sure if it's the same size, but will try that. I was hoping I wouldn't have to ever put a SIM in this, but I'm at last resort now.
@radiohead14 - There were a lot of problems with the early MM releases and windows drivers.
Can you try booting to a Linux flash drive? Then you could use ADB to sideload 5.1.1. Then go back to windows and I'll bet it finds the phone correctly. You should be good to go upgrading again after doing that. Once windows finds the phone, you should be ok in the future.

I was able to upgrade to 7.0 after putting my SIM in (so I guess updates are tied to having carrier service), but in-between the updates from 6.0.1, i kept testing the USB connection. unfortunately it still won't get recognized, so at this point, I don't think it's the Android version. I'm just gonna return it.

I certainly understand not wanting to deal with it. Particularly if your not comfortable with Linux. The thing is, the advice to roll back to 5.1.1 was specific as the last release that had a high probability of working with win10. If you are somewhat comfortable with Linux, it's easier to get it connected and will help prove whether it's the device or win10.

How to create a bootable Linux Mint USB drive using Windows Accurate, though the current release of mint is 18. You could use Ubuntu (Mint is a derivation of Ubuntu) but I link to mint because most users find it easier.
For Nexus 4 but still accurate for N6. Not mentioned is;
in some cases it's also needed to restart adb with:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
Or completely reboot the system
I assume you know this, but as a reminder, If you have just enabled the ADB debug option on your phone and created a new connection, the ADB command might list your device as unauthorized. Just check the screen of your phone then to authorize the new connection.
In case you hadn't seen this thread: nexus 6 one beginners guide.
I would be happy to help you through this. The only thing is I'm traveling the next 2 days so it will be intermittent and late before I can get on a computer
P.S.
the "sudo" command referenced is to gain elevated privileges. you shouldn't be prompted to enter a password when using a bootable flash drive.
the "whoami" command will tell you who you are logged in as.

So if there a link where I can get the update file and stuff I need for Odin I will have shop do it for me. I don't wanna mess up my phone but Im hoping get android 8 and samsung 9.0 then I be happy. Any help be great. If I can get to states or get someone mail me sprint sim lol be so much easier but I don't see that happening soon lol Thanks

You don't need a Sprint sim card you can do it yourself using odin and it's really easy to do.. What's the baseband that you're currently on? Tap settings then about phone and then software information and read the baseband. I will get you the link for the update firmware you need.

Here you go this is the August update for Sprint and the very latest one they have out right now although you can upgrade further but I wouldn't advise it yet since those aren't fully public yet.. This is the link you need to get the firmware from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904010789
After you're done downloading it you need to unzip it 1 time and put the files in their respective places and ignore the HOME_CSC file. Just turn the phone off and boot into download mode holding the power button the volume down button and the Bixby button all at same time and then you can read the screen and continue. Make sure you download the correct odin too by the way Odin 3.13.1 is the latest according to https://samsungodin.com and you can download it there.
So I should just wait. Does this mean there not official update for my phone maybe I will get the ota. It just not out yet. Is that why my phone saying i have latest version

That is the official update.. Since you're not using Sprint you're never ever going to get the over the air updates again unless you decide to switch to Sprint.. For example I'm on Verizon and I get the OTAs but if I were to switch to Sprint I'll never get the updates again unless I go back to Verizon and the reason this is, is because Sprint doesn't send out Verizon's firmware updates and Verizon doesn't send out Sprint's updates.. This means you have to do it yourself and the very latest update for Sprint is the link I posted all you have to do is download and flash it and if you've never done it before now is the best time to learn because if you're not switching to Sprint you're going to have to do it.
Oh ok I thought you said I wouldn't recommend doing it lol I just got confused. I be happy with oreo. I use pie on my buddy phone not huge difference. I thought different band that why said not recommend it. I just don't wanna brick my phone lol I don't have another phone that's all

Sammobile is slow as hell I'd turn window defender off or download it with your phone and then transfer to a computer.. After you download the firmware just flash the needed files and not HOME_CSC yea whichever one you find should work just fine..
do I just need do thru odin or do I have do second step update from sd card from recovery. I just wanna make sure, cause once I do all this I wanna have all I need. I have odin and now downloaded the file you showed me thanks. No you don't do anything but odin. First slot you put the BL file.. When you put the 2nd file in the AP slot it's so big that odin's going to say it stopped responding but leave it alone and it'll finish checking it and then move on to CP and then the CSC file and then tap start and give it about 10 minutes and that's all you have to do nothing else!! Only fill in the first 4 slots ignore the rest of them!

No there's no reason you would lose Samsung pay. You only lose that if you root the phone or for the international one if you unlock the bootloader. It'll be fine.
Unlocking bootloader is what I'm going once home with info you gave me
Awesome going do what you tpls.me.omce home
