Firstly sorry for my lack of professionality, I am playing with android forcouple of days only...
successfully rooted XT860, installed Titanium Backup, started freezing and uninstalling stuff...I must have uninstalled something, which causes the "process com.motorola.contacts" to stop. I want to restore last uninstalled apps using Titanium Backup - but the culprit ones (which ones could that be? I am trying to restore everything related to contacts) do not want to be restored - TB just says "restoring app" and after 30minutes nothing...
So, please: (a) Is there a way to revert the phone to its original state? (b) how to make TB to restore these stubborn apps?
Thanks
I am here waiting for you.

yes, it is - the only difference is he deleted different app than me to end up in the exactly same trouble. I already went through that thread (and related ones) but even if it says "solved", there is no routine to follow I can comprehend - it mostly describes failures trying some scripts. I am not familiar with editing scripts etc. YET (using android for couple of days only) ... I would very much welcome sort of step-by-step description (if the word "solved" is true) - I am willing to contribute with my experience using it or in any other way, but currently I am a beginner:
- is there a simple way how to restore single apps I already have from .zip posted in the abovementioned thread?
- is there a way to restore the phone to its original state (system image available in the abovementioned post)?... just to make sure that I wont get lost if I try the ROM, mentioned in this thread above
After I used Bin4ry's root and upgraded back to 2.257 my camera stopped working. Any way to undo or fix this? I really want to use the camara. I did not unlock the bootloader(I think).
Thanks in advance!

This totally worked, thanks man!
Hi
My camera isn't working anymore. It's crashing when I start it and apps like Instagram can't use it too (app returns to homescreen). I have a LOCKED Bootloader and Root permissions on .257 (4.2). I used Apps like Pimp my ROM.
I DO NOT have a TA backup. Is there a opportunity to fix it ? Maybe with a coming Sony update like 4.3 ?
Try to clear camera app data in settings.
Sent from Sony Xperia Z1
You say you don't have a TA backup, however, the TA partition only gets wiped if you unlock bootloader, which you state you did not do, so that should not be a problem.
Did you try resetting your device? If that does not help it might simply be a hardware failure...
I do have a basic knowledge but I had never heard things like TA Partition before i bought this phone. I thought the app had used somekind of way, which "breaks" the camera as well.
Other camera apps do not work too. Wiping the camera cache didnt work :| I think I'll reset the phone and flash 4.3 this evening
Does anyone know if Helium (formerly Carbon) works with this phone? I saw a note that it didn't work with the Xperia Z but didn't know if that meant the entire Z series of phones. Unfortunately I don't have my phone to be able to test this.
I want to be able to restore some game data from my Samsung S4 once I have my z3c back, but I won't have root in order to use titanium backup. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Yes, Helium works fine. I can confirm this. The easiest way I've found to do it is just to back everything up to your PC, and then restore from there.
Hey,
I've run into an issue. I'm upgrading from my XT890 to a Z3 compact. The XT890 is rooted but I don't want to root the Z3 Compact as it has issues with the camera once rooted. I'm looking for a way to backup the app data and settings from my XT890 and restore it to the Z3 compact.
I've tried Helium but helium isn't supported on Motorola devices. I've tried holo but it didn't work. I won't be able to do it with titanium backup as this would require the Z3 to be rooted I think and it seems every other app requires root to get the data and settings?
If anyone has any ideas, please share!

There are only 2 ways to backup app data:
1) root
2) adb backup & restore
As you mentioned already, there is no root available right now for the z3c without unlocking the BL (which will remove the DRM keys), so you can forget anything that uses method 1) (mybackup, titanium backup,...)
Your only option is option 2)
Helium uses option 2 and there is a bug with all Moto phones running JB that adb backup won't work.
Now this is your only chance:
Update your Razr I to KK and try helium / adb backup there. If it works, then yeyy!
If adb backup / helium still won't work, then there is no way to transfer your app data to an unrooted device.
Thanks a lot for such a helpful reply and clarifying what I was hoping wouldn't be the case. I'm running a non stock rom on my XT890, so the effort going to update it to KK on the off chance of helium working, would be better spent just configuring settings of the apps on the Z3. There's thankfully not TOO much more to do as I've already done a lot so this will be my choice. Thanks again for the very helpful reply!
