I've been having trouble getting my nexus one to work as a mass storage device. I will mount sd and then it unmounts on its on. Tried on 32 bit system and it worked perfect. I can mount in recovery fine and i can use adb fine but not mass storage. I tried installing the drivers on here for 64 bit and it works for a little but if i restart my phone it starts unmounting and i have to reinstall drivers. i also tried installing pdanet and it works but same issue after restarting phone. any help would be appreciated
i've had no issues on win7 64bit mounting it, ive only done it once though, i prefer adb or i ftp files from pc to phone.
Using Win7 64bit here too....no probs...hmm..
Same here using Windows 7 64 bit no problems to report. I copied 3 gig music at one time to the SD and it worked fine.
I had the same problems.
The only way I could get it back to mounting again (and the not-mounting problem hasn't returned) was to:
1) Go into 'Devices and Printers'. (Start Button/'Devices and Printers'
2) Right Click on Nexus One and eject.
3) Disconnect usb cable and reconnect and then try to mount from N1 again...
I was thinking that the problem probably started because of my network mounts and then my usb hub on my monitor with all the card reader options as well. I think my drive letters got a little conflicted.
I had to fixed all that first in the Disk Management.
Hope that helps. I was really frustrated with not being able to mount the last couple of days.
Using Win7 64bit here and no issues. Mounted a few times to transfer music and pics.
i have no idea whats wrong. it works fine on my 32bit laptop. mass storage works in recovery. Its confusing
Manually seek and install driver?
I couldn't get it to work on windows 7 pro 64bit with administrator rights. With a user without admin rights, it worked fine!
I already tried manually installing and i have admin rights on windows 7 64 bit ultimate
there are 2 drivers you have to install from the androidsdk. device drivers and usb drivers. install through devmgmt.msc, browse to correct folders in android sdk to install.
You don't need the device drivers to use mass storage. You just need the usb drivers, which should have installed when you first plugged the phone in.
Have you got the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver installed on your pc?
I have the exact same issue with win 7 64bit home premium. No problem on winxp 32 at work. Also no problems with my ubuntu 64 bit set up. It also works fine in recovery mode.
a long time ago I called HTC about this, because it happened right after I got the phone in January and the official HTC response was, 64 bit os's are not supported!
I had the same issue. It all basically came down to not "safely removing" the storage before unplugging.
Did your computer flag the micro SD card as not safely removed and does it want to scan it for errors when you plug it in? This was happening to me. Apparantly Nexus was somehow choking on the attempt to "repair" and it simply unmounted the card. One day I took the card out of my Nexus, put it into a card reader and let Windows check it for errors. After that, I didn't experience any auto-unmounting anymore.
Actually I'm lying
Another problem was the underpowered USB hub which I use. If you use a hub, try connecting directly to your PC.
Ironically, since flashing back to stock rom (just fiddling around cos I was bored ) I've just had this issue of Win7 64bit not being able to recognise/access the sd card of my N1. Here's how I fixed it:
1. Plug phone into PC.
2. Turn on USB storage from dropdown menu on phone.
3. Go to Device Manager in Windows.
4. Find 'Android Phone' in Device Manager.
5. Right-click and choose 'Update Driver Software'.
6. Choose the 'Browse my computer for driver software' option.
7. Choose 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer' option.
8. You'll now see 'Android ADB device' and 'USB Mass Storage Device'. Choose the latter and click next.
Windows should reinstall the mass storage driver and the sd card should mount in windows.
If you haven't installed Android SDK in the past then you'll not have an 'Android Phone' in device manager. In this case look in the 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers and follow 5-8 above but right-clicking 'USB Mass Storage Device' instead.
Note: I'd done a format of my sd card before plugging in the phone so if the method doesn't work try that (assuming you've nothing on there that you want to keep).
^ that's what i was trying to say
Hello!
I tried to install android vnc viewer and it failed. I am using nexus one CM 6.
I had android vnc viewer in my stock android 2.2. ANd it was in sd card, I had same issue with dicewars but it was backed up so i found how to install it.
Android vnc viewer just wont install on my nexus one and I need it very mutch.
Any one can help me to fix this issue or to tell me some other good vnc viewers.
EDIT: Also have same problem with skies of glory (Application that was installed to sd card in previuos)
Also I deleted every element on sd card that belong to vnc viewer, still doesn't work.
Yay fixed!
If any one have a smilar problem just plug nexus one by usb to computer and turn on usb storage and then install.
Problem is in that it trys to install it to sd card but for some reason it cant
But what to do for non market applications? Like skies of glory.
its still a question.
Hi all,
I had a freaky idea this morning. Windows 8 installations can also be turned into 'Windows to go' drives, meaning that you can run the whole os off a usb drive. I thought a lot about an idea and then i tried to implement it. Few basic things first though, windows 8 needs an ntfs formatted drive, which android (officially) doesnt support. Before i reached the android part though, i took my 32gb class 10 sd card and with a reader, made a 'windows to go' drive. I then booted into it and customized it for extreme performance. Once booted, it was zipping on the OS. Satisfied, i took out the card and inserted it into my galaxy note (running gb). Thats when i realized it had problems detecting it. I got past that issue too by following this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416923 . Then it could read the ntfs formatted sd card and with a bit of effort (the script had to be run every time after it disconnected), got it to mount as a UMS. Now i restarted my machine and went to the boot order (that gave me enough time to mount the card as UMS) and in the boot menu it showed me 2 options 'Android UMS Composite' and 'Android UMS Composite 1'. Sadly though, neither booted win 8 and went to the win 7 os on my hdd. What went wrong here? Could anybody help me to actually implement the idea? Just to check whether it could work? I dont plan to use it......but it would be cool just to think that it could work.
Cheers

Ummm....anybody?
Hello,
i bought a teclast X98 pro... But i think this issue could be the same on X98.
Under windows my SDcards are all fine...
In Android 5.1 i cant see my ext sdcard. I tried different SDcard sizes and partition formats ( fat, exfat)
i cant get it run... In the settings i see one SD card (disabled, means grey options)
Four USB-storages (disabled, means grey options)
I think this could be normal for all the windows partitions right ?
But how can i get my external SDcard to run ? For now i use Sandisk Ultra 16gb. Work fine in different phones and tablets and on the tablet i Windows 10.
I resetet the tablet to factory ... it didnt helped... But at the first startup i saw a message that the sd card was propably ejected out from the device... I didnt touch the device at startup...
Like i said before, in windows all works fine with a Sandisk 128 gb without problems...
I searched but didnt found anything...
Maybe anyone can help me with a good advice ?
thanks a lot for any help.

As I know, Teclast original 5.0 android rom has this problem. Coz I have read some topics like your problem at Teclast Chinese forum. Hope Teclast will upgrade the ROM later, otherwise try custom ROM?

The solution to this problem is as follows
It is to be replacement -only- of bios K9C6 (not windows or android ROM) with the new version
that there think so easily in the corresponding page
Download new bios
MAKE A USB disc 8gb+ with rufus (iso ReactOS)
delete files on this disk and transferred files of new bios
Connect to a usb hub the disc and a keyboard usb (from desktop pc ok)
You not need connect mouse
and connect hub in tablet
follow the instructions of the document -instruction in English.docx-
for install new bios
with new bios everything is operating correctly and sdcard OK.
Hello , I had a "virgin" teclast x98 air 3g (c9j6 - dual os - 64gb) and decided to:
1)update bios to 2.02
2)install android 5, mirec v6 rom, repartitioning the tablet and wiping all partitions....
After that, when booting windows logo has dissapeared and i cannot install windows on it...
Any idea? Help me please......
you have to reinstall windows if you wiping all partitions during install android.
try make a bootable usb drive to reinstall the windows.
