Hello All, Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to record from the FM radio on the Samsung Galaxy. I have one and I would like to use it to record from conventions I go to where they broadcast the audio on short range FM.
I had a look in the app market and there are apps for recording from internet radio but I can't seem to see anything that will record from the radio on the device itself.
I had a look at the stock app and that doesn't seem to have the option... Any Ideas?
Can anyone tell me how to record FM radio when I play the FM radio?
Any app?
Any hacking guide?
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000, running Android 2.2.1, Darky's ROM 9.3 with speedmod 500hz and rooting.
Someone suggested to use tapemachine, but it not working.. After starting FM radio, then go back to the tape machine, an error message appeared:
Unable to open audio input
Please try to close other audio applications, and ask for support if that doesn't help.

After that, I try play the FM radio first and then run the tape machine. The same arror appeared.
I hope, who have developing the call in/out recording can develop this function too.
Hi guys,
I’m from Turkey, I'm new user on this forum and I'm so sorry for quite poor English. I bought a L90 (D405-TR). But there isn’t FM Radio app in applications menu.
I read some Turkish forums (for LG G2) installing the ROM of different countries or by rooting to activate FM Radio.
1) I rooted the device. My /cust/OPEN_AME/TR/config/custom_apk_list.cfg contents as follows:
-/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
I've made this change in content is as follows, and I restart the phone:
+/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
Then I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
2) I flashed England and Italy's ROMs, I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. Again I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
3) Both the phone is rooted, and while both been installed in a different country (which again was the root case)… I was installed Spirit FM Radio, Connected Music Player, etc. I did not listen to the radio.
Q1: Is there Fm radio receiver / hardware on my device? How can I check/detect whether there is?
Q2: Let's assume that there is an FM radio receiver. Both of these methods are not listened to the radio?
Q3: Fm Radio hardware which prevents other transactions have to do?

According to the research I've done, this morning in fact, there is a builtin FM radio receiver in some D405 and D410 models. However I cannot be more specific than that. I do know that the D415 does NOT have a builtin FM receiver.

Thanks @PBakker for reply. I've already flashed a ROM belonging to the Italian model (d405n). But still, I could not listen to the radio. When I flashed any ROM, Does changing the kernel? (I think the problem is caused by radio to the kernel prevent, If there is fm radio hardware on my phone. However, my device, I don't know whether it is fm radio hw.).
As far as i know by most rom packages you need to update or change the kernel seperately. So kernel not affected by installing rom

Kernel is part of boot.img. So flashing ROM does affect kernel.

I have the same problem. I just bought the phone yesterday, (L90 D405-TR) and this evening i realized there's no radio app in the app drawer.
Is it possible to use it's radio receiver using an app from google play ? Or do those require mobile data ?
I guess we need to find out first and foremost whether our model (L90 D405-TR) has a radio receiver after all...

Are you from Turkey?
Yep. I can't seem to find out if this version of the phone has an FM receiver.
Does anyone use FM radio?

I haven't, not even once and I got the phone for more than a year but I understand that some people would like to see that feature.
For what is worth if you still need to find the answer.
Open the Google music play app and if your phone has an FM radio tuner you will see the following options:
Listen Now
My Library
Playlists
Radio
Explore
If radio is not listed as one of the options then your phone lacks that capability.
Hope this helps.
Cheers......
Hi all,
I've got a quick question on which I could not find a proper answer. I'm running a MTCD unit and installed Viper4Android on it this works fine on Bluetooth the Music player and so on but the radio will remain default and have not audio processing is there a fix for this?
I'd like to use Viper4Android on the FM radio as well?
Thanks
This has baffled me as well but I think its because the radio signal isnt coming from the radio itself, its a external source. Thats my theory anyway & prolly completely wrong lol
Same problem here this would be great!
Found on another thread that the radio chip is not talking to the Android OS but rather directly to the sound chip hence V4A does not process the sound but after all I listen to USB or Spotify 99% of the times
With oreo note was working very much Fine with this radio Bluetooth, calls were appearing on lcd and could be answered and responded right fron radio lcd, but after pie update call sound is coming but display doesn't show caller id and call details with options, I'm unable to understand would Samsung update the BT or pioneer needs to update to make it compatible with pie software, though later part is tricky as this particular pioneer system lack Internet access.
Any help/suggestions/workarounds would be appreciated.
You should use the q&a thread.
Tipp: go to the support website from samsung, this is the better way.
Hi, i have Pioneer avh z7100 dab and it work perfectly with pie
Hello,
current Version of LineageOS is lineage-20.0-20230620-nightly-payton-signed.zip.
Do not get sound from FM radio.
Wired headphones are connected.
What else can I do.
A few weeks ago the app was working.
Regards
Hello Camenzind,
I can confirm this bug. Since lineage-20.0-20230606-nightly-payton-signed.zip FM-radio app seems to be broken and has no sound output (neither headphones nor speaker) Nevertheless you can record the radio broadcast and listen the radio broadcast afterwards in an audio player (not a real workaround).
You could downgrade to lineage-20.0-20230530-nightly-payton-signed.zip via Recovery. But you must hurry, because this file will disappear on 27.06.2023 when the next build will appear.
Will this be fixed in a future update?
So i would wait for this.
