Getting an unlock code in the UK? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I've tried going to the emui website as specified (http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/help/post-step-step-guide-to-unlock-huawei-t3373496)
But this requires a HuaweiID
When I put mine in I get
"Sorry, no support for the European user login."
I add that I can register from scratch on the emui site using an email address (not a phone number due to the country code restrictions), but then when trying to unlock, I enter all my details and the unlock page tells me that the HuaweiID hasn't been linked to the phone for the last 14 days (which is true as I can't login on the phone with that HuaweiID as it says something along the lines of a country mismatch)
Has anybody from "Europe" got around this yet?

I'm in contact with Huawei support regarding this - so far they've just told me to go to the unlock page (above) - which doesn't work.

You can also try just mail Huawei like we had to do with P8

Just do as the guide says but change to Huawei P9 EVA-L09

In the end I used dc-unlocker, following the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-safely-unlock-bootloader-p9-t3369499

I emailed Huawei in order to avoid the 14 days issue, you need to login to the huawei website 14 days in a row. Don't understand that silly rule. But check the picture attached that's the email.

The only way around this is you're in the UK is to email Huawei with your IMEI number (dial *#06#) , serial number (look on the box or settings > about phone > status) and product ID (dial *#*#1357946#*#*).
You can email [email protected]
I can't even get logged in to the account linked to my mobile due to the "Sorry, no support for the European user login." message.
As mentioned, if I started a new account through the website, I get the 14 day message. I can't link that account to my phone due to a similar error to the one above, so I will never be logged in for 14 days.

Are you trying to get the bootloader unlock or SIM unlock?

I create the account on my phone and logged in to Hiapp yesterday was 14 days in a row, I have got my unlock code now by doing the process I stated above. What you just said was what I did and sent it to huawei they sent me that email back. But I guess different process work for different people. Hope it works for you.

I'm in the UK, I first created an account on the huawei website, then used the login on the phone. It doesn't unlocked every options on Hiapp but still allowed me to login 14 days in a row to get the bootloader code. Huawei did t make it easy that's for sure.

@fredhd
Maybe I logged in the wrong place then in the app as when I tried it said my location didn't match the phone. Is your phone a UK model?

No mine is a Chinese model EVA-DL00

@fredhd that's where the issue lies. They haven't set their system up properly for UK EU
It might be possible to create a throwaway Huawei account register as location China on the phone and use it for 14 days and then login to the website and get the unlock code. After that unlink it from the phone and create your UK Huawei ID to get the extra warranty. If anyone is wanting to try this then it might work?

To be honest it's a great phone but 1- I should have waited for an official UK release 2- I don't think I'll keep it it seems to difficult to root this phone and I cannot stand the UI. Hope someone makes an easy tool to do it all, mine is not yet rooted as the process seem uneasy to me.

How how did everyone ended up unlocking their phones? I'm using L19 and I'm from Lithuania (EU), my account was created through app and I get same "Sorry, no support for the European user login" error message. Is there a way to bypass this restriction or is paid DC unlocker way to go?
Edit: Method shown in SRK tool worked perfectly.

Is this for SIM unlock?

Market country restriction workaround?

Does anyone have a workaround for the Android Market country restriction?
I wanted to download the official last.fm client, but apparently it's availability is restricted to a handful of countries, and the .apk is so far not available anywhere else.
Could I somehow adjust a setting in my rooted G1 (ADP1.41) to make it appear as I'm accessing the Market from within USA? Can I make use of any of the free web proxies available, by editing a config file on my phone?
Thanks,
Christopher
When it shows in the top of feature section, you will be able to download it..
I've been waiting for it to appear in the Featured Apps bar for three days without luck. :-(
So a more permanent fix/workaround would be preferred...
Thanks,
Christopher
Hi,
Unfortunately, I think the Market restrictions are tied to the SIM card in the phone - not anything in the phone itself.
I bought my G1 in the US, unlocked, for use with a UK sim card. When this SIM card is in the phone, I couldn't get to iSkoot amongst other things, but if I put the US SIM that came with the phone (note this was not tied to a dataplan or activated even for voice!) I could then see and download iSkoot in the marketplace over WiFi.
Regards,
Dave

So I tried the obvious - removed the SIM and started the phone with just wifi connected. No problem accessing the Market, but still no last.fm personal radio application... Could be the phone remembered that my SIM was Norwegian, or that the SIM left a footprint somewhere.
Man, this is irritating.

Fake IP or fake region for Tmobile G1
I have a G1, I live in Vietnam. I know there're iskoot, truphone, linda file browser, and some awesome software on market. But I can't find them. My friend lives in US and using Tmobile, he can find and download them. Why? I paid 400 bucks for a new phone and Tmobile don't share me software from market. Please research this and develop something to help poeple not using Tmobile and from another country.

Actually the decision to restrict to country is purely by the developer of the software in question. T-Mobile isn't involved.
Here is an ongoing thread in the apps subforum discussing the matter:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476160
yeah not very fair to you!
hey people, can anyone tell me why I can see ALL the apps and install ALL of them?
And tell me which is the app that restricted to region so I can try to see?
Im using my G1 in Vietnam with Viet Telco simcard.
as jashsu said, this is all on the dev.
however the "restraints" are there for a reason,
remember android is a "baby" the forecast for the market is (imo) when its up and running each country's devs are going to have paid apps for their region...
im guessing its to differ from the iphone store thing, sux but we still really dont know how the market is going to evolve...
a quick work around.
disable data
turn on wifi, and set a USA (or country of the app you want to get) proxy on your router (since im unable to see or find were to do this on the phone itself)
and you should be good to go...once the phone gets a USA IP everything shows up.

Just for reference, some possible reasons an app might be region restricted:
-Licensing: Apps may serve or contain content which the developer licenses from a third party. The terms of the license may limit the distribution of the content to certain regions. A common example is music streaming in apps like Last.fm and imeem.
-Export restrictions: The exporting of certain technologies, in particular cryptography, is subject to government regulation.
-Support: In order to support an app, the developer will have to account for factors like user support and managing bandwidth. Reducing the number of regions to distribute simplifies the task of properly supporting an app.
-Localization: An app that only gives the weather forecast of cities in China obviously has little purpose in the North America region. The developer may not want to expose it for users outside of its intended geography.

KingRoot Information

This is the information I have gathered on KingRoot (for Windows). Please note that this is information gained by using a network monitor and the software was not reversed engineered or decompiled in any way. I am not responsible for how you use this information or any opinion you may form of this software. Lastly I am not responsible for any files downloaded or links followed from this information! Sorry, had to cover myself from slander and those who don't know what they could be getting in to
It appears to be a server side style of app. The app you install either on your phone or pc is simply the gateway to the server and the app knows how to communicate with the server. All functionality appears to be controlled server side, it should (theoretically) not matter what version of the app you are using. The Windows app for this will install the latest android version on your phone, if you do not have it installed already. It actually installs the KingRoot app but also another app named "KrHelper4Pc". This could be the stuff listed in the links and information below, I do not know for fact. The windows app is also in Chinese (I assume). However, they have an unhelpful English page that tells you how to root with the Chinese (I assume) all over it! https://kingroot.net/root-installation-via-windows-pc/
Here are some links that were found having communication:
1. http://103.7.29.26/download.sj.qq.com/qpmgr/AndroidDeviceV6.zip?mkey=58692fabc55ab7b0&f=105&c=0&p=.zip
- This is weird, it downloads a zip file but can not be opened or extracted. I know sometimes .apk files can show as .zip files, so I changed the extension to .apk and moved to my phone sdcard. Can not parse the package...no idea what this file is or how it works! You can open the zip file with wordpad and see a bunch of garbled text though.

- Leads to: http://s.pcapps.qq.com/msoft/xml/qqapp_update_20151029.xml which does not display anything, appears to be xml file. Oddly, can not right click and view source though...
Again, this is purely information I have gathered on the use of KingRoot, take it as you wish or as you interpret it. It may (or have) work but there seems to be a lot of other traffic going on, I can not really say if it is necessarily good or bad but I would at least call it "possibly suspicious". The reason I say possibly suspicious is the fact that most "hack tools" are actually not nefarious or do not have bad intentions. They are listed this way to dissuade people from using them. If it shows as a virus, most people will not install or use the program thinking they will get infected when the app is truly not a virus or malicious.
How do I know?
Well, I cant guarantee that any software or app is safe if I did not code it. Back in the day, I used to hack the old Yahoo Messenger login protocol. By doing so, I could create bot programs that could spam, send boot codes to knock them offline and even clone other users. As you can guess, Yahoo did not like this. Yahoo then worked with anti virus companies to get programs like mine listed as a virus to dissuade people from installing them. When this happened, my inbox exploded with people screaming and cussing at me. None of my software is malicious, I would not do that. I ended up releasing my source code to prove it was safe.
Anyways, long story short...for tools like these, it is actually hard to prove if they are malicious, even if a website says so.

Well, that "zip" definitely isn't a zip ... if you look at any real zip in a text editor, the first 2 characters in the header are "PK".
(I think that's where "apk" comes from ... "Android PK).
The file is clearly data that the application decrypts.
I installed the program in Sandboxie & will poke around a little when I have time.
It might be slow going since it's all in Chinese.
There was a suggestion that I was a little overly concerned by the "intrusive" nature of Kingroot ... ha! We'll see ...

Samsung note 8 retail mode (howto delete?)

I thought i bought a new Samsung note 8, but someone gave me a new note 8 in retail mode

Can i root the Note 8, install a custom ROM so retail mode is gone. Please help me
Download BK package disabler in the play store and disable Samsung demo mode. Mine is called Verizon Store Demo mode in system.
Realy that easy?
I highly suspect your Note8 might have been stolen from a store, and the seller had scammed you. There's a high chance that it's a "Live Demo Unit", the model in this case would theoretically be SM-N950X (according to a YouTube video I watched, linked at the end of this post)
Those are models specifically intended for retail demos, and as such, do not have cellular radios, only a fake one simulated in the demo software.
Here's the video I just mentioned. I know it's the S7 in this video, but I just wanted to get the point across. Samsung Live Demo Units can never be used as phones.
Edit: My guess is that LDUs are normally intended to be returned to Samsung after some time, like for example, when a new Galaxy device comes out.
Might be that it's been placed into demo mode, look under settings-->developer options--> demo mode

MDM agent is blocking your factory reset. Either this is a store model, like everyone has stated, or someone installed the MDM agent prior to giving you the phone. Without knowing who installed the MDM agent it is impossible to remove unless you can gain root access to it, and even then the MDM agent may block the root access ability or brick the phone if it detects root.
I'd say either way, return it if possible.

List of Features that are Confirmed NOT AVAILABLE in North America

Here are a few that I've seen demos on but could not get to work on my North American (Rogers) Huawei Mate20 Pro. Publish other features confirmed not working.
Build Number: 9.0.0.146(C792E15R1P17)
- Hivision. This feature covers the missing "eye" logo from the camera app, dragging up from the bottom corner of the screen to launch Hivoice and Hivision, the missing "eye" beside the search bar found after dragging down (in Gesture mode) to open the device search and the two finger press action to identify "on screen" objects. Hivision not available was
- Magazine Unlock: The ability to use and configure the Magazine Unlock features on the phone. you should be able to select through a list of feeds that get displayed in your personal "Magazine". The feature is supposed to be available under: Settings > Security & privacy > Screen lock & passwords > Lock screen style, and select the default Magazine unlock style.
- 3D Live Maker - You may be able to find this in the Google Play store. I did. It's called "3D Live Maker" - developer contact is [email protected]

Me: What about the AI Google Lens like feature where I can take a photo and identify what that is in that photo? Like types of food and what not?

however, what I see is this one:
as you can see, I don't have the "magazine unlock " button
Support: Please go to the main Settings menu screen, at the top, on the Search bar, input Magazine, and tell me the options you see.
Me: None. Nothing comes up when I input Magazine.
Support: After double checking this situation, if you could not find the option through the steps previously mentioned this will mean that function is not available on your phone yet.
But do not worry, at the moment there is an update for the Mate 20 Pro that will arrive Over The Air by the end of this month, that will help us to add some features. My kindly suggestion for you is to wait for this update to arrive and install it on your device, in order to check this feature. Also, please allow me to invite you to visit our consumer website, we have manuals, FAQ and other information that can be helpful for you: https://consumer.huawei.com/ca/support/
Me: I actually was on that site before coming to support. I downloaded the manual but it did not have any reference to Hivision, or magazine unlock, while all of the information on the rest of the internet does would you happen to have a list of features that are not available in the north american version of the phone?
Support: My kindly suggestion for you is to visit our consumer website, we have manuals, FAQ and other information that can be helpful for you

Lol.. sec. I'll post a screen shot of cdn site when I get back to desk
HiVision only works on the Chinese model. I haven't read any official word about whether it will be available on other models.. It seems to be linked to Huawei's Chinese alternative to Google Assistant.
I have Hivision here on the Australian LYA L09 Single Sim.
Have the eye top left of camera in photo mode. Also 2 finger hold down on screen for search in website and other applications.

This is inaccurate as I've heard UK users are able to use this feature. I only know confirmed not currently in North American regions.

So from the Huawei Canada site:
www.huawei.ca
click Phones and more, this should take you to the consumer site consumer.huawei.com/ca/support
Click Support
Then you'll see a contact us button lower right corner of the screen, click on that
should launch support options, click on online chat
fill in information and you should get an attendant. If not, try back later. One popped up really quick for me during business hours.

Hola
My appreciation mate for going through this. Interesting that I don't see this widget in my browser. I must have some security feature turned on or similar that may be blocking this. I will look into this tomorrow. Again THANK YOU very much! :highfive:
It has been explained to the OP on several occasions that the 'Magazine Unlock' feature is fully implemented and working - just not in the settings themselves. You go to 'themes', and then 'me', and then 'cutomize', and you are free to choose 'Magazine Unlock' as your style of lockscreen. You don't need to even have a Huawei ID in order to do this. To actually customize the Magazine Unlock, you do it from the lockscreen itself. It all works, and it is as perfectly useless and horrible as one could imagine. Can someone please tell me what the point of having a lockscreen at all it? I pick up my phone, and it unlocks. WHY would I want to flip around to various backgrounds, or fudge my way through clunky and broken notifications, or do anything else from the lockscreen?

It has never been accurately explained - and, with all due respect, you are posting more rubbish (ie your last inaccurate post saying Hivision was Chinise fw only). You are confused. You are customizing the lock screen image for Magazine Unlock within the Theme, not the Magazine Unlock functionality. You are modifying a THEME configurable customization, not the Magazine Lock feeds. As quoted from Huawei - the feature is not available in the North American software load. You will not get a hit if you launch settings, type in Magazine into the search bar, AND have a North American software load.. Could someone who has a non-N/A version of the phone

While this isn't the thread to be posting a question like that, I'll entertain you, just this one time. Not everyone wants their phone to unlock immediately after looking at it, they may have personal, confidential or sensitive information behind the lock screen. This is precisely why there is an additional configurable "slide to unlock" after facial recognition. You have chosen to disable it, but I believe it's enabled by default - to each his own.
I'm not sure if you have been personally offended somewhere along the way or not, but i'd appreciate it if you would stop following me around, unless, of course, the unlikely event occurs where you are able to post some accurate or helpful information.

If you're in US, you most likely won't see the chat support considering the products are not being sold here

Quick question. Just to make sure I understand. By Magazine unlock do you mean the ability to have a different lock screen every time you wake up your phone or do you mean something else?

Yes - however the feed selection option is missing. Currently you can only select images from downloaded themes
The missing functionality is the ability to select/configure new feed streams.

OK. Now I see what you mean. Cause I was going to say that it does work but to your point in a limited capacity.

Hivision?
Any updates on HiVision in Canada?
I'm with Telus and on 9.0.0.127. No HiVision yet.
Is there a way to install it manually?
I downloaded to the global 171 firmware from my Optus Australian firmware and lost all the magazine lock functionality as well.. it's technically still there but the images and categories that you could change before are gone.. had to aslo download some Huawei apps. Huawei ID up the top in settings is missing as well . Strange... Maybe because this firmware isn't technically really for public yet...

The very last thing anyone needs is for us to get into a pissing match about this. I just want to say that I have never said anything about Hi-Vision, so direct that particular witch hunt elsewhere. As for the Magazine Unlock, uhhh... What is your continued argument on this subject? It works, perhaps not in the way the the brochure promised you, but it works and the irony is I left it enabled and now I love it. The pictures featured are incredible, and the real power of it is that you could give your phone to someone else and they could do a variety of things with your phone without being able to unlock it. They can obviously take pictures, they can set alarms or timers, they can use a calculator, they can record audio, and they can use the flashlight. The ability to 'customize' it comes in the form of adding pictures to the gallery it uses to rotate through.
This phone is pretty new, so by all means contact Huawei and plead the case for Hi-Vision to be unlocked here in North America, but... So far, we have received timely updates via OTA, and we have even been given stuff like the crude beta implementation of IR scanning, which I hope they develop further. I'm still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, either way I doubt you will force an official answer out of them. A year from now, if we still don't have Hi-Vision we can talk about abducting the children of their CEO out of an airport to hold as hostage... Er, wait never mind.

Help with unknown smartphone that showed up on my Google Account devices

Hi guys.
I need some help here... I was having a look at my google account page, at the security part when something very strange showed up...
First let me say that I'm a long time user of 2 factor authentication on google and also on other platforms. No one else have access to my password, and it's a strong one (upper/lower case, numbers, special chars...). No one have access to my smartphone, not even my wife, and it's fingerprint protected.
With all these security measures in place, still today I discovered that unknown smartphone that I never used, I don't even know anyone close to me that have a smartphone of this model (OnePlus 6), it simply appeared as if it has synced (!!!) with my google account at march 28, 3:37am...
When I go to Google's device management, I can remove access from my account to my own smartphone (motorola G7 power), but I simply can't do anything about this strange smartphone... The only thing it shows is the time it synced with my google account and the location (just Brazil, it don't even show the city. I live in Brazil)...
I've posted a question on Google help forum, still I'm asking you guys if any of you have some insight to give me, some help... I'm really concerned about this possible breach.

It's a breach alright.
The attacker might be using your account on the browser on a device.
Or The user string is spoofed to avoid detection .
We don't know how your password was compromised so lets assume that
1)You might have compromised by reusing the password on another site .Some phisher/hacker might have retrieved it from a password dump.
2)Device or browser or keyboard or OS is compromised.
3)Glitch at Google side. The device shown is in error.
Regardless of that , you should change password from a safe environment. Do a password change from a fresh browser instance .
On a side note , you can check if your email-password has been compromised using the site below.(Troy Hunt is a trusted security researcher)
https://haveibeenpwned.com/
Had changed my password a month ago, just changed again as soon as I saw this on a safe computer.
Edit: the only new app I used close to this incident was Remote Fingerprint Unlock, which was featured on XDA... Still I don't know if anything was compromissed by this app or if it's a glitch on Google side... Going to wait for Google reply.

I doubt Remote Fingerprint Unlock requires Google Credentials directly. If at all , the windows password should be compromised .

Agree with you, I just talked about it because it was the only different factor. I've installed Remote Fingerprint Unlock march 26. Then this incident occurred march 28. Anyway... I need an answer from google...
