Using Mophie Battery Case With T-Mobile S7 Edge and Android Auto - Android Auto General

I'm having a really hard time getting Android Auto to launch with my S7 Edge and Mophie Juicepack. I have a Kenwood DDX9702S for a head unit. I got it to work once but don't know how or why. It works flawless if I don't use the case. Tried both the USB cable that came with the case, and an Anker USB cable, and so far, no luck. I've also tried connecting with the case already on (charging) and off (not charging). Not sure what I'm missing.
I did cross post this to Android Central and the Android Auto subreddit, and have either gotten very few replies or no one has an answer. This is getting pretty annoying. I have a hard time believing I'm the only one who has attempted this?

Wireless Charging & SmartLock

I only very recently got my Nexus 6 (Loving it so far), so I decided to pick up a Tylt Wireless Charger on a black friday sale to take advantage of it's wireless charging capabilities. I set up Smartlock when I got the phone and I returned to the settings to see if I could set up my wireless charger as a trusted device with the trusted NFC devices. I tried messing around with it for like 10 minutes and spent some time doing research but I can't seem to get it to work and I'm beginning to think it's just not possible. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work, or to let me know it actually isn't possible, please let me know. Thanks in advance
The tylt charger has nfc?

I know that with my LG G3, it disables NFC when my phone is connected to my wireless charger (not a Tylt), so I would assume something similar happens with the N6. Plus the Tylt doesn't have NFC capabilities from documentation I've seen, so that is why it isn't possible.
I do not think wireless chargers are bluetooth or nfc devices -- "wireless" refers to charging without a cable attached to the phone.

2016 Hyundai Sonata?

Just got a 2016 Hyundai Sonata and am pretty disappointed with Android Auto.
Are there any tweaksn/root for this system or anyway to use other apps with it?

What problems do you have with it (just curious)? There are no mods that I'm aware of, we just have to use what they gave us. If it's an app that's bothersome, contact the dev. and ask them to make changes.
Unfortunately, there is a very small percentage of Android users that have Android Auto so devs are probably not that motivated to tweak it.

When I plug my phone in to it some times it connects some times i does not, if I leave usb debugging enabled I get a random reboot, random apps not working, the lag, seems to use much more power than the USB port can put out. This happens with a rooted G4 and a stock note 4.
It's hard to find anything useful information about this cars system.

Ah, I'm experiencing the same issues, and I don't think they can be remedied by a hacked Android Auto app. I thought you were going to say something about the press limitation or desire for more apps.
I'm not sure if the connection issues are because of Hyundai or android auto. I have found that you have to wait for Bluetooth to connect before plugging your phone in.
The USB port not outputting enough power is the fault of Hyundai. I actually just submitted an email to their corporate about it, but I'm not sure how much good that will do.

Yea I didn't think that an app hack would resolve the charge problem. The true reason is the lack of apps and features. I hate when software is artificially limited.
Have you tried a Y cable for the power issue?

I agree, I really wish there was a local music app designed for Android Auto, but there isn't one yet.
I'm actually using a y cable now, but it hasn't helped. I thought it was, but I just went on a 4.5 hour road trip and I had to stop after 3.5 to charge my phone with a 12 volt adapter. Granted, I started the trip with my phone at 60%, but still, it should charge via USB.
I received a response from Hyundai about the USB port and this is what they said:
"The usb port you refer to is working as designed. The only time your phone will charge when connected is when the phone is idle. The port was not designed to charge your phone while connected. Just a reminder that your phone needs to have a minimum of 30% battery life to operate Android Auto."
Not very helpful, and they don't seem to care.

No problems here with Android Auto on 2015 Sonata Eco. I'm using both a Samsung S6E and Nexus 5X. Be sure to high quality cables.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with Android Auto and I had very flaky connection problems when connecting my phone. My phone is the LG G4. What I can tell you is since my phone has been upgraded to Android 6.0 the connection has been flawless and very quick. I stopped using Android Auto because the connection was such a pain but since Android 6.0 I use it all the time now.

Thanks for your input! Looking forward to February when the Note 4 is updated to 6.0!

I just got the 5.1.1 update on my Verizon Note 4 and I'm happy to report that connection is much better! It usually connects on the first or second try now.

I also have a 2016 Sonata. One thing I have found that helps is to use the key fob to unlock your car as you are walking up. Do it about as far away as it'll reach. That gets the car's computer to start booting. It then is more reliable bringing up android auto. Most of the cases where I have not had it connect have been when I plug in the phone before the car is fully booted. I also second the comment about the USB cable. I was using a fairly thin one off my Note 5 charger and the phone would drain while using. I bought a 3' cable off monoprice.com and now the phone slowly gains charge.

Android Auto & Bluetooth with Phone & Audio Apps

I have a new Pixel2XL and am frustrated trying to make Android Auto work. All was fine with Apple Carplay and my iPhone 6s (this is actually my 2nd Pixel2XL as I went back for the 128GB model when the $300 sale came along after I'd purchased the 64GB).
Anyway, bluetooth isn't working well. And I'm being told this is a long-known issue with Android that Google is still "working on". Since it's happened with both phones, it's either Android 8.x or a long-running, unresolved issue.
I'd like to disable bluetooth, but I'm being told that's how the Phone works in the car. Can the phone be moved to the USB cable?
One other question, when connected by USB cable, are non-AA compatible audio apps using bluetooth or the cable?
Thanks.

No, as far as I know you have to have Bluetooth & USB cable connected for AA to work properly. Ref

Don't know about your second question, but on my car non AA apps don't work when AA is active.
That's been my experience, yes. I'm having bluetooth issues regardless. So depending on it in the car is frustrating and even dangerous if I try to disconnect/restart/etc. while driving.
But I did just receive the 8.1.0 update and I'll be in and out of the car today. So, crossing my fingers that something will work better!
Thanks for the reply!

Android Auto with Samsung Dex

I'm installing an Alpine ILX-W650 for Android Auto in my car next week, and noticed it requires simultaneous Bluetooth and USB connection to the phone. I want an easy way to dock my S10 each time I get into my car, something that's quick, easy, secure, looks nice, won't wear down the type C port on my phone, and charge faster than the 1A provided by the Alpine unit.
If I have to custom fabricate a docking cradle that fits just right in my MK6 GTI, I will, but just want to find the best solution. I have a Baseus auto clamping vent mount with the IR detector and Qi fast charging, and could try affixing a magnetic charging+data capable cable to that so the cable is in place to lock onto my phone's port automatically using the magnetic attraction, but have no idea if that will work or not. I read in one forum that someone was able to wirelessly charge their phone while it's plugged in for Android Auto, anyone know if that will work for the S10? My magnetic cables are the Wsken X1 models, I have no idea if they'll work and how reliable a connection they will provide, anyone try something similar?
Another option I'm considering is using the Samsung Dex Pad as a docking station, and mounting the phone horizontally since I will be controlling everything from my voice and Alpine's touchscreen while driving, and won't need to really do anything with my phone. I asked Samsung if it will work, and they said they've never tested it, suggested that I just try it and find out. I don't want to buy the Dex Pad if it's not going to work, has anyone tested that so I don't have to? Probably will anyway, but it from a place with a good return policy, but am hoping someone out there has thought of this and can enlighten me on what to expect.
Thanks!

Hello, I have a 04 Audi A4 with a 13” screen and a Dex pad under my arm rest. Out of sight and protected. I love it! My monitor lets me connect and control my phone via touch screen. Torque app works well on a 13” screen. I also have a dell d10u that I use for tuning while my main unit is my s10. I have enabled developer mode on my Dex and the use "Dex Max" App, It helps out as well.

Id be interested in this too. Can you expand a little on your setup? I'm looking to do the same with adding a larger LCD while maintaining touch-functionality via android. I'm wanting to piece together a 10-13" LCD along with a capacitive usb overlay but haven't verified that the touch would work via android along with my CarPC.
As for docking, I've been using a cheap $8 Ebay USB hub with success in both DeX and AA in my setup.
Hope theses pic are visible. I will have to get my other phone to display my setup with Dex running.
Forgot one.
Not the cleanest installation, not the worst.
My high mileage e85 Audi A4. Sorta a "beater with a heater".
Here are some pictures, the few are with screen mirroring with the aid of seconscreen app, overlay app and a few others. The rest are in Dex mode which yelids a better picture however apps don't auto start in full screen, while driving it can be somewhat cumbersome.

Sorry, pictures seem to be upside down.

Question Android Auto not working

Anyone else not having any luck connecting to Android auto?
Vehicle is a 2020 Lotus Evora GT and my previous Huawei mate 20 Pro connects just fine. My S21 ultra on the other hand doesn't. Pretty annoying. Tried multiple cords no luck.
When i fist hook it up tiday with a usb cable it wouldnt work, but finally it came on. Then wireless worked for a while too . It seems to wok ok with the usb cable. but haven had alot of time to mess with it yet. I have a Kenwood head unit. My old Pixel 3z XL work like a champ....
