Hey guys so lately there's been a lot of discussion about the pogo charger.
I've checked all the threads and more than the value of the charger, the forums are filled with shipping complaints.
I can't seem to sort out the opinions and real comments on the pogo.
As such, for those really on the fence about getting a charger (like me) I made this poll, since there was one on screen protectors to help people choose.
Any comments made, please make constructive opinions on if you have a pogo charger, if it's worth it, etc. (not on your shipping problems please)
Thanks!
I only bought it because I thought it would be able to charge my tablet while under heavy usage (1.7GHz performance gov + full brightness), and sadly it doesn't even seem capable of doing this.

I seem to remember somebody stating that under heavy usage they've saw a current drain over 3A. If your situation is the same, nothing is going to keep up with that which is over the max of the charging circuit. It's simple to test for that.
The POGO cord charges faster but stops during OTG usage, no ROM/kernel Dev's have tried to solve this issue so far. There may be another issue with cigarette lighter type power supply also.
Shipping just took time from Korea, now they have a US shipping source through Amazon.
I really like it, saves wear and tear on the USB. I charge at night, and never have enough time to use it that I run the battery in a day. The OTG complication is annoying, but liveable, and hopefully likely to be solved.
I like the reduced wear on the micro usb connection and additional safety of quicker disconnect if cord is yanked from tripping. I charge the tablet at night, so not too concerned whether charging is quicker. I would love to see some ideas on how to improvise a charging dock using this cable!
I think whether it's worth it totally depends on the reason you want it. If you want to use OTG while charging or to do data transfer, it's obviously a bust.
These are the reasons I'm very happy with it, in order of priority:
1) Saves stress on the USB jack, especially if dropped or banged against something.
2) Easy to click onto the N10 when I'm done reading an ebook in bed at night and I'm sleepy.
3) Charges a bit faster than USB.
If you're looking for a miraculously shorter charge time then it's not worth getting.
Definitely worthwhile ... it is one of the nicest accessories I've purchased in a while. I purchased it only for the convenience of not having to mess with the mUSB charging. It delivered. My charging graphs indicate that it charges at a faster rate than the mUSB ... just a small extra bonus.

^^ this.
I bought it because I've had occasions where others in the house have messed up micro-usb connections on phones due to using them while still plugged in - with this, there's no way of easily damaging it
And so far, so good! Would really recommend it.

Wow, max brightness ? I find the lowest setting really bright.
I did general usage on lowest brightness and it charged pretty good, IMO.
It was worth every penny and when they come back in stock at Amazon I will order another.
I use my tablet heavily throughout the day and found myself unable to charge it completely while I slept. Now using the stock wall wart and pogo it charges in a fraction of the time. Like I said, worth every penny.
Charges faster, but was it worth it for me? Still undecided. The main reason for me getting it was to plug a HD into an OTG cable and still get power to the device via the POGO. Unfortunately that will not work. The POGO will not charge when running OTG. Shame.
Back in stock on Amazon... Just ordered one tonight. I'm interested for two reasons. Slightly faster charging (not a big deal for me, as I generally plug it in at night, and use it much of the day), and I also like the idea of the pogo connector instead of using the USB socket every day. Should have it in 3 to 5 business days.
... beamed from my Nexus 10 to your planet
Just ordered one off eBay, should have it by the 20th at the latest. I spend a lot of time driving so carry the Nexus 10 around with me in the car and I've bent the USB plug on the cable so though I'm better off getting the pogo charger incase I damage the USB port on the tablet
Answer- Yes it is but...
Just got the pogo cable on Friday and did some testing over the weekend and have some results and observations.
I ran my N10 down to 10% Saturday and plugged in via the pogo cable at about 11:30pm. . When I checked Battery Monitor Widget the following morning it showed fully charged at 4am. Total time 4.5 hours. Max charging rate was at 1916mA and tapered to 415mA.
Sunday I did the same, (11% and 11:30pm) and used the USB cable. A check of BMW showed the N10 fully charged by 5am. Total time 5.5 hours. Max rate was 1559mA and a taper to 420mA.
So, an hour faster. Not huge, but significant. Overall I think the important thing with the pogo cable is that it will charge as you use it. When I plugged in with it before I turned the screen off I was showing a net charge, while with USB it continued to discharge, albeit slower.
Both of these (admittedly unscientific) tests were done with the OEM charger and USB cable.
The pogo charger is a great way to save the USB port of the Nexus 10 if you have young kids. Since the pogo charger is magnetic, there no way to damage the tablet when a toddler yanks it off a desk while its charging. I am very happy with my pogo cable. Bought it off amazon and got it in 2 days.

It would be nice. I have an N7 but haven't bought a charging pad yet because I didn't feel I'd get enough use from it. My N7 battery easily lasts me a full day and I just throw it on the charger at night. No big deal.
I use a Moto X right now and tether my N7 to it on my daily bus commute (~2 hours each day) and I usually need to give the battery some juice before I leave work to have enough for tether on the ride home and the remainder of the evening.
When I get the Turbo, it will easily last a full day. I don't think I'd ever really need the full two days of battery life, but it would be great for long days. My Moto X right now can't make it through an entire day with my usage. I know I'm probably above the bar in SoT (usually 3.5-4h), but I average about 13h, according to GSAM over the last 8 months. Could use a nice big battery to keep me going for 18-20 hours.
I guess it does have wireless charging...
The new DROID comes with a turbo charging feature so when you’re low on battery, a 15 minute charge can get you up to 8 hours of use. DROID Turbo comes with the Motorola turbo power charger in the box at no additional cost. And for added convenience, the new DROID is wireless charging capable.

Awesome..thanks for that
Semi-related.. Can anyone suggest a nice charging pad? I've looked at them for my N7 before and the prices seem to range pretty widely. I understand they charge pretty slowly.. but are they all the same for speed? Does the device need to be perfectly aligned in order to charge? Can I charge two devices at once (N7 and Turbo)?
I'm thinking I'll throw a pad on my desk and one at home, either in the living room (coffee table/end table) or bedside table.
There are some features of a phone that you appreciate more when you have them than you do when you read about them. An example might be high speed charging, their are a few technologies out there for this but the bottom line is when you have it you really come to like it. Its very nice when you have forgotten to charge your phone and you suddenly decide to go out to be able to get a charge on it that will see you through in the time it takes for a quick shower. When it was new and I first read about this it sounded good but no big deal, I usually make it through the day fine and charge over night. Now that I've had it though I really like it.
This is kind of a long way to get around to it but wireless charging is the same way. Its very nice to simply have the pad on the night stand or wherever you may put it and drop your phone on it without having to plug it in. It seems like nothing much but once you get used to it having to plug in seems like a bit of a hoop jump. One benefit of wireless charging that often gets missed is port damage, I have had more than one phone in the household that met its demise by tweaking the micro usb slot so that it either wouldn't charge or couldn't transfer data or both. My understanding is we will still have to plug in to get high speed charging but the ability to do both if we want is a very good thing in my mind.

Good points. I held off on a pad for my N7 because the battery easily lasts me through the day, two if needed (I usually charge it every night, though). Even though the Turbo probably wouldn't need to be topped off during the day like my Moto X would benefit from, it would be nice to have the option. I agree on the Turbo charger too. Great in a pinch if you are at an airport or something and just need some quick juice for a flight or something.
3.9Ah batt's gonna take a long time to charge with a 700mA limit though.
Should be OK overnight. Then again if it's only discharged to 60% when you start it shouldn't be hateful.
Yeah, wireless charging works best where/when you are going to set it down for a while such as over night or when you place the charger where you set your phone in the evening. I used both, one on the nightstand and one on the end table by my chair. In the latter case it is quite convenient since you can answer a text or what have you and simply set it right back down and its charging again. This is why I think its a great feature to have both wireless and high speed by whatever name, they should complement each other well. I say should because I've had both but not on the same phone, I'm really fairly stoked about this handset for this and other reasons.
Hey guys I just bought the Nexus 6 and been looking around here and didnt find anything on best ways of charging the phone. I know the phone comes with the quick charger, but I tried it and the phone got real hot and I am pretty sure its not good for the battery in the long run.
That being said I do not want my battery to start losing charges since it does not have a replaceable battery. I am just curious if anyone on here uses other methods of charging the phone or better yet if anything is proven to be safer to charge. Right now I am charging the phone with my previous Samsung s4 charger and seems to charge fine, but if its not good to do this I would like to know sooner than later.
The n6 is meant to charge fast and isn't the first phone to use fast charge technology so I think we are fine using the stock charger. There's no way a battery charging that fast isn't going to get hot.
Define "real hot."
It is normal for the phone to get quite warm when charging. It should never be hot to the touch though. In this context, by hot, I mean you're unable to hold the phone. If you're able to touch the back, and keep your fingers there for more than a few seconds, then the phone is warm, not hot. Anyone who has had a battery overheat can tell you that the difference is unmistakable.
Chargers will, by definition, heat the battery to some extent -- how much, depends on what kind of charger. The order (from warmest to coolest) is: QuickCharge 2.0 (Turbo Charger), qi wireless charging, QuickCharge 1.0 ("Traditional" 2A charger), Regular 1A charger, USB charger (500ma). However, the heat produced by ANY of these chargers is normal, and the battery was designed to handle it. The life may be lessened by the heat to a very small extent, but it should still last way longer than the 1 to 2 years you'll likely own your phone. Plus, technically, the battery IS replaceable. It's just not designed to be user-replaceable, but there are businesses that will replace them. Or... you can purchase an after-market warranty, most of which cover batteries.

I meant just warmer than normal use of the phone. I understand the phone gets hotter the faster you are charging, however I charge my phone every night so what is the point of the quick charging except when I am at work and my phones about to die?
I just feel that the phone will last longer by not quick charging it, but I could be wrong. What I really want to know is if anyone knows if its better for the phone if you just charge with the 1.0 and if so which charger should I use? Maybe another motorola one or would the samsung one work fine?

Technically, yes, it'd be better for your battery, but realistically, you'll never notice, since you'll probably get a new phone long before battery life becomes an issue.
However, to answer your question, any 1A charger designed for Android devices will work (If they're not designed for Android, they'll show "Charging (USB)" in the battery monitor, and will only charge at 500mA). The brand isn't really important, as long as it's a reputable brand. (...and before you ask, yes a 2A charger will work fine too, but will heat your battery more than a 1A charger.)

Ok thanks...I guess ill continue to use my samsung 1a charger since it works. And I know that I wont have this phone for the whole 2 years, but if I charge the phone every night anyway why take the risk of damaging the battery at all with a stronger charger when I dont need it right?
Anyway thanks for the advice and ill keep using my samsung charger.
Thanks

Which wireless charger are you using?
The quick charge technology is designed to quickly charge your phone without reducing charging cycle performance
Can we take a minute and just appreciate having this ability built-in? Being able to keep my phone topped up by literally just setting it down on my desk is pretty awesome.

I ended up getting a Sony battery pack + wireless charger device from Verizon when I got my Edge (no doubt some will know what I'm talking about).
It's definitely chunkier than your typical wireless charging pad, but I get 3+ full phone charges from it before it has to be recharged itself (also has pass-through, so you can still use it to charge your phone while it's plugged in).
Build in wireless charging is definitely a great feature.

That's the one (or at least I think it is, there's always the possibility there's a newer model that I have - but it looks/functions the same).
Don't let the negative reviews sway you, a lot of people complain that it's hard to get it to work but I believe that's only because they didn't read the instructions. It states that once you hit the button (to active wireless charging on the pack) you have to place the phone on it pretty quickly - if you don't, it'll start charging and stop after a few seconds. It works just fine through my incipio case and as I mentioned in my above comment I get 3+ charges from it when it's fully charged itself.

This is my first time with wireless charging, and I have to say, what a great feature. I now don't charge with the traditional cable unless I am in my car. I have a four 3 coil chargers from RAVPower and CHOE and they are nice. No issues charging at all. I have a friend who has an Incipio Ghost 120 wireless charger and my phone charges without an issue on that as well. Yea, I don't think I am going to go back anytime soon to regular wired charging unless I have to.

I bet it won't. I don't see them adding wireless charging until it can be called "Wireless Warp Charge"
Everyone said the same about the 6/6T last year.
I doubt they add wireless charging. It's more parts with very little adoption that will increase the price. They already can't be making a ton of money off this phone, I can't see them adding something that they can't charge more for.
Don't need it. Don't care.
I can't understand why wireless charging is still considered such a premium option. It renders your device useless unless you are going to use it while on the wireless dock. At least with a cable I can still pick up my phone if I choose to and use it almost normal.
I had a V30 that had wireless charging and I only used it when I went to sleep at night. What difference does it make how the device is charged in that scenario?
If they want to add WiFi charging, then we are talking but I don't even think that is a thing. I'd rather the precious space in a smartphone be used for other more useful technologies.
This post is just another reminder that some people just don't understand the speed of technology. Wireless charging is not yet adopted because it is still first generation technology. Your phone charges faster wired than wireless and it's just true for any type of device. Wireless charging is like using solar panels. After a long time you will eventually have enough energy.

I never understand this wireless thing. You cannot use your device while charging, its slow and heats up your phone (usually), the charger has to be plugged into somewhere anyway and it adds cost and people are already complaining that it is to expensive.
Can not understand wireless ???
I do not get this comment and I heard it time after time.
I have a wireless charger on my night stand.
No looking for cables in the dark.
No mechanical connector you got to plug and unplug at least once a day. You think USB C sockets can not go intermittent ?
Just glance at the phone "always on display.... guess we do not have that either", the phone acts like a digital clock.
Oh yes you need hours to charge the phone but why would you care, go to bed the battery can be at 20% in the morning hours later it will be at 100%.
Yes OnePlus does not support wireless chargers but this is something I personally miss.
I can almost guarantee it won't, OnePlus sees no reason to add Qi charging
I'd rather have warp charging. You get enough juice to last a while with just minutes of charging, I'm more than happy with that.
It’s not an either/or thing.
Wireless charging still degrades your battery faster over time due to the increased heat dissipation. This is one prime reason why the technology is not evolving as fast.
If you really want wireless charging you can just get the adapter for it on amazon. It takes up your usb charging port and sticks to your case. I don't really miss it so no big deal.
Numerous purported experts with titles like Doctor of Electrical Engineering occupy all of the top 10 spots on Google... Care to cite any source that agrees with your claim?
It's a useless feature that the big companies want you to want. It's a really bad feature. With how dash/warp charging is I can use my phone while its charging and not have it slowed down. Better than being useless for far longer on a wireless pad.
Lol you guys don't know what you're missing, my girl has wireless charging built into her car and man that **** is so convenient. We have restaurants here that has wireless charging in the tables. I love being able to walk in the house and just lay my phone on the charger and go shower or whatever without having to bend over and plug it up. Don't really care about the speed of the charging even though Samsung has a pretty fast wireless charging capability on the S9 and S10. But for $700 bucks I'm not mad it doesn't have it but it would've been sweet if it did. I'm sure soon as one plus decides to implement wireless charging the price would creep up to about 8 or $900, so I'm good without it. Just keep the prices low OnePlus ?
Buy one of these and now you have wireless charging. I use this on my OnePlus 6T.

I hear you on all that. I love wireless charging on my S10+, it's so convenient.
I have the Pitaka case and MagMount Qi magnetic car mount. It's so easy just to slap my S10+ on it and it starts wirelessly fast charging while in my car. I have a few Samsung wireless chargers throughout my house also.
Wireless charging is more about the convenience than the speed.
