Hi,
I recently found a M7 without working display. When I try to power it on, the power up sound goes off for about half of second, silence and the sound with the pauses go off until the phone dies. Is it the bootloader issue or is it something else? Not sure if I can factory recover it and if I manage to do that, if I will be able to set it up.

Thanks!

Hey,
I had gotten to sample the HTC Touch Diamond...and thats all. I got it as a gift from overseas (so its a GSM -simcard- phone). Long story short, I didn't want to buy the phone from the local wireless provider because I'd be stuck with them. I open up the HTC box, turn on the phone, calibrate, take a few pics, and then I decided to put in a simcard. The phone was on at the time and I wanted to make a few phone calls to test out the new phone. I have no idea what happend, but the phone just turned off. I turn it on, and there is no lights, no screen, however the phone did turn on (i felt the vibration, and heard the startup sound). I took out the battery, and put it back in a couple of times and I finally got to turn on the screen and lights, however i recieved a werid message, and it didnt seem that my buttons at the front were working right (they worked fine before when i took pics and listend to the demo music), so I unplugged the battery and put it back in..Since then I have not been able to turn on my screen.
Here is how I know the phone is on, but there are no lights and no screen:
1. the boot up vibration
2. the bootup music
3. the volume up and down
4. I am able to touch the screen to turn up and down the volume.
5. When I put in a simcard, the phone does a ring every min or so (I have no idea as to the cause as i cant see error messages)
Now this is what I did to try to fix it:
1. I tried soft reset , however pressing the reset button does not seem to make the phone restart as i can turn up and turn down the volume no matter how long i press the reset button
2. I tried a hard reset, that doesnt seem to work either. (btw im guessing the confirmation message screen and pressing the volume up key) I think that the reason why steps 1 and 2 are not working, is because the phone does not seem to want to restart!
3. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in..but i never did it for longer than a minute
4. I tried to update the rom, however the rom update application gives me a "Connection error" even though i have my phone plugged in. If i am supposed to set the connnection up from the inside then nm i cant do it cuz i cant see a thing.
5. I tried charging the phone (through USB and the power outlet)
Does anyone have any idea what happend? how can HTC Touch Diamond go from new to blank screen in about 5 minutes of usage?
plz give me all suggestions u can come up with...plz try to help me. Ive been waitign 2 years for a good phone, and now that I have one, I cant use it. Help me!
remove the sim card and see if it acts normal.
is it already unlocked?
the sim card has been removed, reinserted , and removed again.. yes the phone is already unlocked as the simcard apparently worked ( i made a phone call and the phone rang)
has no one ever come across my problem?
bumping...
Hi i have a few issues on my diamond. I hope you guys could help..
1st issue: lately my diamond keeps on resetting by itself.
2nd issue: later I've learned that when I record my voice using the software within the ROM, I don't hear anything but when I record my voice using my htc headset/earphones there is a sound.
What I did was:
This day I've flashed a new rom (Energy Rom) into my Diamond. It works ok then I flashed the Radio (Radio_1.13.25.24). I was able to use my diamond for a few hours.
Now..
3rd issue: My diamond is not powering on..
What i did before this happened was...
I pressed and hold the power button for about a few seconds so the ShutXP would pop up and I could soft reset my diamond. Before I clicked the soft reset button, I was checking out all the functions of it. then i clicked, a little icon, which is the Setup Timer Action. Here's the setup:
Action: Turn Off Pocket PC
In: (i don't exactly have seen the time indicated)
As curious as i am, I Clicked the Set Action button. It did shut my diamond off. Then I tried turning it on, but all it was doing was vibrate and the screen was black. At first I was hearing the start up sound a few times but later it didn't hear it anymore. I plugged in the charger but there's no white light on the circle button which used to have a light on the borders of the circle button when plugged in the usb cable. I tried pressing the power button plus the Volume down so the bootloader would appear but it did not. What shall I do?
Are you sure that the screen working because the phone vibrate and play the startup sound so if think its the screen that have som serious problem !!
HELP
I also flashed a new rom (Energy Rom) into my Diamond before.
It cannot run window mobile6.5.........how can I do???
I cannot connect to PC .......
I recently also had a similiar problem, after attempting a flash of the Rom, the ROM update stopped halfway through and reported that it had lost connection to the device....
The whole phone would not vibrate/power on, nothing - no glowing ring around the middle button to indicate it charging at all.
I had to return to the repair centre and somehow they didn't notice that I had modified the firmware and replaced the whole phone for free citing a hardware issue ...
Doesnt sound good if you cannot hard reset the device
When going to bed tonight do these steps.
1. Put your phones brightness display on the lowest setting
2. Plug your phone in for an overnight charge, do not "turn off" your phone.
3. Wake up in the morning
4. Click the power button on your HTC ONE M7
Did the screen turn on? Are the Soft Keys the only part that lights up?
I've been able to replicate this problem over and over on 3-4 different HTC ONE M7's. For some reason the phone's display will not turn on in the morning. The only way to get it to is to either hold down the power button for a few seconds and the restart screen will pop-up which activates the screen again. Or, to do a complete restart.
Eventually the screen starts working again like normal after fiddling with it for 15-20 minutes...
I believe this is either a KitKat problem or light sensor problem or both. I do know this issue was never around before the KitKat upgrade months back.

I#ve never run across that problem but I know when I enable "ScreenOn" the screen stays on all night and if I just let my phone sit with screen on (because I fell asleep texting ) the screen will be off in the morning.

Beullar.... Beullar?
with my phone its just a 5 second lag sometimes, and i click the power button again to make sure i clicked it and it instead locks itself back. The third click however, everything works fine.
this has been happening to me for the longest its very irritating, i notice it happens whenever i fall asleep, a nap during the day or when i wake up in the morning its really annoying
Well glad to see I'm not the only one.
I have provided this thread link to HTC and reported the problem. Requested that they chime in if they have any questions.

Yes I had the same issue as the original post.Long story short I ended up sending the device back. The new one didn't suffer from this problem. This was back in October of 2013.
Same issues, it's probably light sensor:

Nope. I already tried the light sensor calibration trick. It didn't work unfortunately. I ended up swapping out 4-5 HTC ONE's before it worked correctly.
yup, I tried the trick as well a few more times and could not wake the screen either. generally I'm tolerant of stuff like this because I assume it is the byproduct of repeated flashing and combo of mods.. but I I recall this happening quite early on in ownership and now it's back. (was AOSP now Sense base). sigh
Figured I see if anyone else has had this issue. I went for a walk with the dog yesterday, and was listening to music on my Nexus 6 the whole time, and when I got home I couldn't get the screen to turn on. Music was still playing, it was still connected to my G watch, and holding the power button triggered a vibrate when the power menu opens--but the screen was completely black and unlit the whole time.
Had no prior issues, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Figuring I'll probably call Motorola as this seems like a hardware issue...
Any suggestions would be well received!
Try holding the power and volume down buttons together and see if the screen will come on when it reboots to the boot loader. Alteratively you could try to power cycle it by holding the power button down for 30 seconds. Hopefully Motorola will also be able to help you.
me too
same exact thing happed to me music pulled out headphones the phone still works but the screen is dead. I can pull to use phone and **** and have the same vibration. holding power for 20 seconds is a no go. tried tons of holding combinations it seems like I can get it to shut off and on may be but it's just not doing a reset that I can tell that reboots the screen.

you had an sod(sleep of death). it sounds much worse than it actually is. its a rather common issue as well(no fix). try using a custom kernel.
ok crap

so stupid question how do I do that? I've only tried to root a phone once and it was a g1. please provide a link or something i'm pretty techy but am rather upset right now.
Ambient display fault?
Hey, I had the same issue, i switched off the ambient display and after that the problem is solved. Give it a try, it might help. Go to Settings, Display, and turn off the ambient display .
same problem
I can't tell if this issue is with the specific ROM I'm using, or if it's just a Lollipop issue in general. During phone calls, the screen goes black (as it should) when I bring the phone to my ear, but now with Lollipop ROMs, most of the time when I pull the phone away, the screen stays black instead of coming back on. Normally, the screen would illuminate when I pull the phone away, but now it doesn't always work correctly. This is particularly annoying at the end of a call when I would normally touch 'end call', but now I have to wait for the caller on the other end to hang up before the screen comes on. Anybody else notice this?
I'm running gruesomewolf's GPE version 1 and I noticed it. I can usually just press the power button and the screen comes back on though.
A workaround
I also have noticed this problem, and i am 100 positive it is a lollipop problem, nothing wrong with the sensor (otherwise the screen wouldn't turn off when it comes close to your ear) nor the ROM (also present in the stock ROM), One solution i found is to set the power button to end the call, this option can be found in Settings>accessibility.

That's a good idea although if you had to use your phone while on a call to look something up or press the keypad, pressing power to turn on the screen will also hang up the call. But, if you never have that issue, your workaround is :good:
One more solution

You can also enable DoubleTap2Wake by using a custom kernel.
Same problem on TMo m7
Last week I upgraded to Android 5.0.2 on my TMo HTC One m7.
Since then when I remove the device from next to my head during a phone call the screen stays black.
This means I cannot use a keypad to navigate a phone menu or to enter a PIN.
I can tap the power button to re-awaken the screen but it takes several seconds to come back - and sometimes stays dark.
This is a mild nuisance if simply trying to end a call but is a major issue if I'm trying to use an IVR (this device is, after all, a PHONE!)
I have run the HTC Function test on the phone and the P-Sensor test runs fine.
