i have the s-view case but depending on lighting the clear plastic can show up in photos and using the vol keys to take photos is very awkward when having to use it with the flap open. the s-view case but with the clear bit just cut out entirely would be handy
i have a glass protector on so not worried about making the screen more vulnerable.

I have been having very blurry photos and thought it was the lens but it came to be somehow the battery cover pladtic lens cover is scuffed up..it looks like just surface scuffs does anyone recommend a good way to buff these out? I know they make things for car headlights that will get rid of scuffs and surface scratches..any alternatives for smaller scales for this case?
Some might suggest popping off the back cover plastic piece out.
I tried a few things to clean it, didn't do much. And it gets scuffy again sooner or later.
Me, i just drilled a small 2-3mm hole in the plastic piece where the camera lens looks through.
Sure it's not Chromatic Aberation?

The lens cover on my original HTC TyTN II battery cover appears to be coated thin glass so if yours is plastic that's a worry. As is, my camera suffers from Chromatic Aberation and thats something I learnt about here at xda-dev

If it's just the coating coming off (perhaps due to contact with fingerprint sweat), you could contact HTC/your hardware provider and see what they say about getting a warranty replacement.
Using dry a q-tip, I rubbed the coating off the lens window inside and out, and the pics are bright and clear now.
I took my plastic camera battery off. haven't had a problem since.
Oh what is a plastic camera battery. I want one, or do I?

Along with mention that cleaning it on both sides also helps (in the comments at the bottom). The problem is of course that just by using the phone you are likely to get fingerprints all over it again. My solution is to carry a Klearscreen cleaning cloth with me in my Windows Mobile version of a laptop bag. I use that for both the screen and camera lense cover when I need to take pics.
I purchased the Seidio SURFACE case with kickstand and "Just like Glass" screen protector the other day. So far they have been great additions to the GN2.
ShopAndroid.com - Seidio Case
Amazon.com - Just Like Glass screen protector
The case does not add a lot of thickness to the phone. It is slightly tacky so the phone won't slip out of your hand but it also isn't a lint magnet. The kickstand is slightly fragile but with some care it shouldn't cause an issues. It's held in the closed position by a small magnet and I haven't had any accidental erections ...err openings of the kickstand.
To apply this screen protector requires using some water and included spray. What's nice is once you put it on the phone you have a minute to align the protector correctly then you need to wait about 30 minutes for it to dry. After a day or two any remaining moisture will disappear. The S-Pen works great and doesn't leave any indentations. It also glides smoothly across the screen protector (where others seem to grab the S-Pen tip). As with the case, the screen protector is not a lint magnet but does tend to show finger print (a quick wipe on your pant leg takes care of this problem).
The case fits nicely around the phone and protects the edge of the screen protector to prevent edge lifts. My only complaint about the case if if you use the kickstand on a slippery table, it tends to slide when you try to use the S-pen. Using your finger carefully allows for easy angled use. It sits at a nice viewing angle.
thanks for this writeup, this is one of the cases that I was considering to protect my Note II
I have the active case with holster. The things I don't like are how flimsy the rubber is that goes around the phone face. It easily folds out of the way. I would have preferred something with a little firmer lip. This lip also catches on the holster clip everytime you holster it.
Otherwise it is ok. I have the official samsung hard cases with a firm lip around the face but the lip doesn't come up enough for my comfort. It does fit nicely in the Seidio holster even with the Samsung hard case.

The case I mentioned has hard edges so you don't have to worry about them pulling off in your pocket.

I got the just like glass protector from amazon. First off, it doesn't fit. It is too long. I need to bust out my xacto knife to trim it down near the center home button, and at the top it kinda comes off the edge a little. Second, it is nothing like glass.
I have the Seidio case as well. I like it only mine does 't seem to close all the way. If you squeeze both ends together you can feel the tab click but when you let go it opens back up. Only had the bottom fall off once in my pocket but still kind of annoying. Anyone had similar issues?

After 3 days all of the moisture disappeared for me. I can't see the screen protector anymore . The size was perfect for me.

I haven't experienced that issue yet. I noticed the connection on the back sometimes gets lifted so I push it back down. I agree the little tiny space between the sections annoys me but I'm a perfectionist.
Note: I received a discount on this case in return for reviewing it.
This case is better than others which claim to offer a huge amount of protection because it is not as bulky as most of the others. One reason could be also because it does not in fact include a cover with a built-in screen protector for the front, although there are lips which do stick up around the front to protect it when the phone is placed face down on a table.
Wireless charging works well with this case as well which can be an issue with other protective cases.
The back of the phone is a shiny plastic material which can be a fingerprint magnet to a very small extent, but that is not nearly as noticeable as an issue as the phone has on the back when it has no cover. The back is also curved on the sides like the bare phone itself, so it is very comfortable to hold.
In order to make up for some possible slipperiness on the very back, you can see by the photos included that that is more than made up for by the rubber "grippy" sides. I would have preferred the side on the phone with the volume buttons to have the same rubber material all the way up the side as the side of the phone with the power button, but that is just my preference with which everyone may not agree.
On the front, the top lip and the bottom lip around the screen are hard rubber, while the sides edges are in fact the same plastic as the center of the back of the phone. They do not fit right up to the edge of the glass the same way - so on the front you can see a little of the metal edge on the top and bottom front edges of the phone with this case. However, it is just this one 'slight flaw' that makes the next paragraph possible:
It may sound counterintuitive, but what I like most about this case is that is not only a very protective case for the phone, but it is also very easy to slip on and off the phone at the same time - the rubber and plastic pieces do not have to be pulled apart from each other to put the phone in or to take it out. Just grap a couple corners and with a little effort it will pop off - not so easy that it would ever slip off on it's own - it is very snug. It may seem like a silly thing, but I have a custom proclip holder in the car (for the bare phone) - and I like to slip my phone into that when I get into the car. As that requires removing the case and slipping it back on, when I am using the other protective cases for my phone I am forced to just not use the proclip holder those times when I am driving - except not with this case!
All in all I really like this case and I'll be using it a lot!

Probably one of the other reviewers. I still have mine.
because it interferes with the camera when folded over. sometimes it's flat against the back, other times it's at an angle.
my lg g3 has a circle case where the circle is cut out. looking for s-view with the clear bit cut out if possible?
iPulse Journal Series Leather Wallet Case for the Galaxy Note 8
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074Z5TMY9
This is the first wallet-type case I've used with the Note 8 and it seems have everything I would want in a leather wallet case. It's smooth good quality leather, no jagged edges, multiple inner pockets, and straight matching black stitches.
Most importantly, it has a strong magnetic clasp, which is one issue I have with the wallet cases Samsung usually offers. While leather wallet cases aren't designed for maximum drop protection, having a strong magnetic clasp will prevent the phone itself from hitting the pavement. There's a gratifying snap when you close the cover and the flap won't separate unless you pull it with force.
A plus in my book is that the phone is kept in place with a soft TPU case attached to the leather. Some manufacturers like Samsung choose to use a polycarbonate case-like portion to hold the phone in place but the bottom and top of the phone is usually exposed to the elements. I had no issues inserting and removing the Note 8 from the TPU portion and it holds the phone securely. Phone port cutouts are where they are supposed to be, but be advised that the TPU does not cover the power, Bixbie, or volume rocker, which means the already shallow buttons are more difficult to press.
The brand logo is out of the way and is on the bottom left of the backside. It has a clean design on the front with no lettering. One thing I would have liked to see is an earpiece opening on the front of the leather cover so I could talk on the phone with the cover closed, but flipping the cover behind the phone is not too much of a burden. This choice also gives the front cover a cleaner look, like a leather journal would have.
I would recommend this case if you're looking for a simple and clean-looking genuine leather wallet case for your Note 8.
Mine need to push the magnetic piece where it connected to your phone away from the phone, so it wont affect S-PEN
how about yours
