G900X roms that work on the G900A/870A - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I realized that the TMS5 thread is probably not the most appropriate for discussions on this so here's a dedicated thread for it.
A number of roms from other variants can work on our model with minimal modification, so report here your successes and whatnot, what you needed to do and support for fellow users. Me and the other users in this thread are in no way responsible for any bricks that may or may not occur as a result of poking around with this, in general the roms in this section work fine and you should use those. Also, it should go without saying, but please DON'T POST ANY PERSONAL BUILDS OF ROMS OR SIMILAR WITHOUT THE ROM AUTHOR'S PERMISSION FIRST.
General tutorial for other model roms
Requirements for possible compatibility:
☑Based on touchwiz
☑Firmware base is 5.0 VERY IMPORTANT, CANNOT BE 5.0.1 OR 5.1.1, MUST BE 5.0
☑Doesn't heavily integrate a custom kernel or anything similar such as a built in recovery flasher(not typical but worth mentioning)
Flashing steps
In most cases use flashfire, it has aroma support. Edit the zip and remove the kernel if any, and remove the part of the script that flashes it, otherwise get the oc4 kernel.
Flash the ROM as you normally would for any other ROM on our phones, if you don't remove the kernel make sure to Odin it right after you flash.
Currently confirmed working roms
Phoenix-v11
Alliance
Omega
XtreStoListe
OptimalROM
Roms that should work in theory(untested)
The galaxy project

hook it up!!!!!!!! thanks

Heres a benchmark from antutu

I got Phoenix working here, working pretty good but I'm acrewing around too much for a decent benchmark on the battery, but so far so good for everything else.

@Rakuu i believe you can flash it and add the g870a also in the title. As per my phone lol. Thumbs up.

Rakuu never mind on last pm used a different browser and got the download. Will replace the systemui with yours and flash than enjoy the darkness. Thanks

Would there be any sort of issue using Safestrap vs. Flashfire to install Phoenix? I know that Alliance didn't play well with SS, but most others I've flashed (TMS5, Twi5ted) did fine. Thanks.

It uses aroma, if you want to flash an aroma ROM you need to edit the zip to make it aromaless, or just use flashfire which has aroma support.

Flashfire worked somewhat. It did the wipe (though aroma does that as well) and flashed the ROM, but, for some reason, it failed to flash the OC4 kernel afterwards, though I had specified it to be flashed after the ROM. I was able to Odin the kernel, and Phoenix seems to be booting okay. I'll update if I run into issues. Thanks.

I personally just took the kernel out of the zip, can't distribute the zip though as per ROM devs request.
Edit: @sbs8331 Did you flash the actual Odin kernel in FF or the kernel zip?

I didn't know how to take the kernel out of the zip. I used Odin to flash G900A_OC4_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5.

Odining is probably the preferred method for most unless it does more than the kernel.

My heart jumped into my throat for a minute when I got the kernal error. Fortunately, Odin cleaned it up quickly. The ROM seems to be working well so far. I'll be interested to gauge the battery life, since it has seemed to drain more quickly lately, and I haven't been able to pin down why. (Maybe the battery itself.) Functionality seems really good. No surprise, but the ROM lists my device's model number at SM-G900F. (Twi5ted, which was based on T-Mobile, had listed it as 900T.)
Other G900A users might want to note my experience with flashing it, i.e. that the OC4 kernel didn't flash but required separate Odin install.
Also, I flashed the TMS5 extra toggles in order to get the flashlight on notification panel pull down, as well as the zip to install the Chome home button per T-Mobile, which I've found to be very handy.
Thanks for finding this and giving us locked bootloader users at lease one more ROM to play around with. :good:

No, the model # is no big deal. I didn't see the extra toggles. However, I have the "Cover Warnings" disabled but I'm still getting the message about the USB port cover, which, on my device, broke off a couple of months ago. I don't miss the cover.

Incredilicious Final Rev 12/01/11 2.3.4 (4.08.605.2)
This is a Rom I've been working on for over a month now, and has been tested extensively on six Dincs. It's my own personal ROM (for my personal tastes) based on a stock rooted 2.3.4 (4.08.605.2) base (stock kernel) for those of you that choose to stay close to stock. It's not for everyone, I just thought I'd share it for those looking for a Stock Based ROM.
Special thanks to Wildstang83 for the stock ROM as my base
Special thanks to 00McD00 for the quick settings tab, and some parts of the systemui.apk, and frameworkres.apk, and for his lockscreen (modified 3d for this ROM).
Special thanks to Devildog8791 for the Black Dialer
As you can see from the "Running Services" screen shot, all the VZW [email protected] has been ripped out, along with a few other unnecessary services that hinder battery life and speed.
File Explorer has been added so you don't have to hit the Market right off the install to get to your files.
Updated Market to ICS version. Updated Maps, GMail, VoiceSearch, SuperUser, Flash Player 11, etc. (nothing should have to be updated after install). ClockQ has been added for those that don't like that big azzed Weather clock (like myself), go into Apps, configure your clock, and add it as a widget to your home screen.
Battery indicator with 1% increments, full color signal strength meter, etc.
Quicksettings in the notification tab.
Flyaway transitions have been added to most transitions in the ROM.

There will be no more revisions to this ROM (God knows it's been through enough revisions already).
If you want to modify icons, battery meter, etc. Hit the UOT kitchen HERE!
If you plan on using a different kernel, do so at your own risk. I have no idea who's kernel works with this ROM, as I didn't develop the other kernels. This ROM uses the stock 2.6.35.13-g03546aa kernel associated with GB 2.3.4. Please ask that question in the kernel thread
Final disclaimer:
If you're not secure enough with your own sexuality to have some purple highlights here and there, then by all means stay away from this ROM!

I have flashed about 20 ROMs and, I have to say, yours is a beauty. I love all the color, the fly-aways and how fast it is. Do you live in an Ice Fortress by any chance?
I am thinking of trying tiny's 12/01/11 kernel but I definitely don't want to "hurt" your ROM at all.
In any case, thanks for a terrific ROM!
Tinys newest makes it smokin fast, but needs the power menu, the one from the other roms will not work, unless i did something wrong. I really like having multiple boot options, and this rom is lacking that. Other than that, it may be the fastest rom ive ever used, and i didnt even oc it. Helluva rom.

Morning,
I was just wondering if you knew why I can't get the image to load past the HTC Incredible screen. I can load SR4.2, GingerSense and a multitude of others, however this one seems to just hang.
Running fast for me as well! Excellent Rom! I may try Tiny's latest, but I don't really want to mess with it. lol!

Just make a back up as it is right now, then try tiny's kernel. Backups will save the kernel you're using, so you can always revert back.

YOU MUST BE ON STOCK 98.72.22 JB KERNEL
Boot into Safestrap v3.11
Select any Slot
Wipe Data / Factory Reset
Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Wipe System
Install ragingbionic.zip
Reboot System
Initial boot takes about 5 minutes...Dont Panic
Reboot
Profit
Enabling Overclock:
The OC script is in /system/etc/init.d The scripts are are commented out to prevent initial boot issues. I've had Bionics that crash at 1250mhz, while others fly at 1350+. Use tweakerz to "test the waters" then go to the OC script, uncomment the scripts (delete the # in front of the script), and modify the scripts to suit your desired speed and voltages. For those of you on a 4 slot, leave the last line commented out.
Reboot.
Profit.
Remember, once you uncomment the scripts, OC will stick. If you push it too far you will find yourself editing with adb through recovery or reflashing your bootlooping soft brick. Have fun guys and gals
If you're not comfortable working with the scripts, you can always just apply settings in tweakerz. This, however, will not survive a reboot.
I, Team Rage, XDA, nor anyone else will be responsible for what you do to your phone! If you do this right it should work well. If not...well...that's what we're here for. Remember, we all do this for fun and have real lives too. If you find any bugs, please be sure you followed the INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS exactly before reporting. This ROM is designed for SAFESTRAP 3.11 ONLY. Flash other methods at your own risk!!

Awesome! I took a go at it, but I never got it to work. I'd switch to this in an instant if it looked like stock android. Either that, or a ported AOSP lockscreen and launcher would be nice. I've played around, but got nowhere, just a softbrick. It's a good thing I learned ADB when I did, or I'd be in trouble.

Great ROM gave it a try out on my Bionic, OC works fine I can push my Bionic to 1.45ghz before to gets unstable, but that was using dtrail's overclocked jbx kernel in the razr forms, the only thing that I miss from AOSP 4.1.2 is the default lockscreen with its cool music controls if that could be included it would be awesome, however I am ordering my S4 tonight but will keep my Bionic around and this or CM 10.1 will probably drive it
can this rom add custom actions when clicking on the time in notifications
Oh, no, It works now. I couldn't find a link to SafeStrap before, but after ton of searching, I fixed it. I'm running 4.2.2 now. Anyway, yeah, if you could get a rom themed like AOSP or CyanogenMod, I'd flash it in a heartbeat

I know, haha. I got my Bionic yesterday, and boy did I screw up. Before I had taken it to Verizon, I installed the old version of Bootstrap, which would bork the system. I installed it, then rebooted, and got the Encryption Unsucessful error. I temp fixed it from adb, and took it to the store. The guy at the desk turned it off, put in the sim, and looked confused as could be when he saw the encryption error. He looked at me and was kinda like, "Um.... Sir.... Your phone..." And I just took it and walked out. Anyway, fixed it after an hour of googling, and installed CM10 in the first slot. Back on topic, can I flash this ROM over stock?

Best way is to use safe strap and partition ROM slots. Most runs on slot runs. You don't wanna flash your stock ROM.

I loaded this ROM, and while I do think it performs great, I must report that Photosphere technically works although it does not perform as Photosphere should at all. I could never get it to create anything. Is this something everyone is experiencing, or something secluded to just me?
For the developer, my loading of the ROM included no extra apps outside of what is already baked in. I also made no configuration changes, simply loaded it and tried out Photosphere.
I want to check this ROM out, but I can't get past the setup screen, it keeps telling me to wait. I'm on Page Plus, and I believe that is causing it not to activate. Is there a way to deactivate or remove the initial setup screen?

Delete the ROM Slot you're using and recreate it. You've probably got some old data hanging around. Others have experienced this and that has been a 100% golden fix

As soon as there's an AOSP themed one, I'm flashing. I just found a bug in CM10, and can't record using the Front Facing Camera ( which I need when recording songs)

If nobody has tested this in their stock slots... I'm willing to test it... For science. If all else fails, I'll RSD, re-safestrap, and restore CM10. I'm just waiting for a AOSP themed version though .-. I'm OCD about having that look, for some reason. Hopefully it'll work on Stock slot, though. It should.

I don't have time now but in the past I'm pretty sure I nandroided my unsafe and messed with it and then wiped it and restored the image fine so I'd imagine it would go fine. Before Rage came along I restored that same image to Slot4 and ran a safe stock so I could more comfortably poke it and if it got pisses just wipe S4.

[ROM][T211][4.4.2]Zephyr Tab v4,Rooted,Debloated,Odexed, NJ3 TW Rom

Simple, Stable, Smooth...
I am not a developer, I have learnt (and am still learning) many things from the immensely talented developers on this Forum.
This Rom has been created with the thought that there are many people who wish to continue with Samsung Stock Rom to give them a hassle-free use of their Smartphone, yet they need their Rom to be bloatfree, efficient and Smooth.
This ROM is rooted and odexed for my daily use. Will try to keep the version updated as and when a new stock firmware (with higher/better changelog) is released for the Galaxy Tab 3 (T211) version.
Please do not expect me to customise this ROM any more than what it is. As I said I am not a Developer. Thanks for Understanding.
Only for T211

Hi, I've a question:
after installing this ROM (4.4.2) it is still possible to come back to a Jelly Bean ROM (4.1.2)?
Thanks

Backup your existing rom. Try this one. I don't think you will go back to JB. And I see no reason why you can't go back to JB either. Worst case scenario you will have to flash stock firmware using odin. I have not tried going back and am still waiting for feedback from you guys.

I can confirm that, it is VERY buggy.
After you start the tablet, wait for a couple of sec, you'd be greeted by nothing but a black screen.
You could tap the power on button twice to get it to work, but you'd only see the status bar, nothing else.
Sometimes tapping the back button and menu button randomly could get the Samsung setup wizard out, but even the wizard appears to be buggy.
First being during the Wi-Fi setup, when you're prompted to type in the Wi-Fi password, the keyboard would pop-up for a brief second and then go off again, making it impossible to type in anything.
Second is even if you skip all those, alright, the system appears to be working, the system, mobile data, yeah, those are fine.
However, the glitchiness continues, the power menu sometimes appears to be invisible, some of the pop-up option menu appears to be invisible, installing a third-party keyboard the UI element does not work properly either.
Also, the tablet hung up after installing some APKs through ADB, the status bar became distorted, I suspect that to be a system UI issue too.
All in all, all the rendered UI element appears to be buggy. That's the only thing that needs to be fixed.
All in all..waiting for a bugless rom..thank you for the efforts..all the best for your future projects

Well, since XDA is being a douche and not letting all people to reply on dev board, I can only report the bug here.
To me, the ROM was completely unusable, some UI elements aren't being rendered correctly.
For instance, keyboards aren't showing, sometimes the power menu won't show up, some option menus won't show up.
Most issues are related to the UI.

Okay wow, you're really stubborn, here's a pic to prove it, why the heck would I want to lie about this?
http://puu.sh/b5mMN/62144fbbbd.png
And what do you mean "getting old"?
Everyone's device is the same, you know I wouldn't be mad if your statement was a little less ridiculous, say regional differences, obviously that still wouldn't be the case but it's a lot less ridiculous than "getting old".
FYI, my tab's mobo was replaced about a month ago.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][5.0.2][CM-12.0] CyanogenMod 12 for jfltespr (2015-01-26 / FINAL)

The Sprint Galaxy S4 is now receiving official CM 12 builds. This thread is here for reference purposes only. No new unofficial builds will be made.
It seems that the CyanogenMod folks are kicking along pretty well getting Lollipop ready. I was finally able to get a bootable version of CyanogenMod 12 for our phone, the jfltespr. The jflte devices are being de-unified again.
I am building a rather "plain" version, which consists of all merged GitHub items, along with cherry picks that are required to build the ROM.

Installation Instructions
Do a nandroid! What happens when the ROM doesn't work??
Use TWRP! CWM has been mentioned to work as well, but I do not personally support it.

Install my ROM ZIP file!
Install gapps (PA has Lollipop gapps in ALPHA) (Slim has Lollipop gapps here)
Install SuperSU!

What Works / Doesn't
Working: Mobile Data
Working: WiFi - Some users have experienced issues having BT and WiFi on at the same time. One reported fix is to change WiFi to use the 5Ghz channel.
Working: GPS - Some SPH-L720T users have experienced non-functional GPS. I suggest flashing back to TouchWiz and acquiring a GPS lock with GPS Status & Toolbox. Once that happens, go right back to recovery and reflash CM12.
Working: Camera - You may have to exit and go back in before it starts working properly. Also, occasionally the camera will appear to take photos but freeze the preview window and not actually take the photo. Google Camera and other third party apps don't seem to have this problem.
Working: NFC
Somewhat Working: Bluetooth - Some users have experienced slow A2DP playback or issues connecting to devices.
Not Working: Any other potential CM bugs. After all, this is an early release and can be potentially quite buggy.
Not Tested: Anything not mentioned above.
Found Bugs
When plugged in for charging, if you power off the phone, it will reboot after a short period of time. The touchscreen will not be functional. If you hold down the power button to reboot, the phone will be fine.
When using the stock messaging app, SMS messages will show as failed -- but they do go through. I tested to another mobile user and a Google Voice number. MMS doesn't seem to show an error.
Excessive battery drain due to NfcNci.apk in /system/app (reported for the Int'l CM 12 build). You can delete the APK if you experience high battery use from "Miscellaneous". [Hopefully this is fixed in the 11/24 build. Please respond if you notice any improvement]
Location icon stays in the status bar. This happens even if location is turned off.
Home button does not wake device.
I will post new versions of the ROM when I get a chance. New versions will be compiled daily and put into my MEGA folder.

This is awesome. I wasn't expecting a build for this for another couple weeks. Keep up the good work!
I haven't followed or used CWM or PhilZ recoveries in quite a while -- I can't confirm that CWM will or won't work. I posted what worked for me, and it's more of a "recommended" method since I know it worked. You can certainly try CWM. If it works, I'll throw CWM in the OP with TWRP!

If you or anyone else gets it installed, feel free to let me know what works and doesn't, so I can track it in the OP and see if there may be some fixes I can do and submit. Some of the bugs are going to be fixed by the CM folks, but they're busy working on getting the Nexus devices flawless, methinks.

I'll try it... Do I risk bricking if I use CWM instead of TWRP? Or just risk it not installing?
Well, I've never seen an actual "brick" by using the wrong recovery -- with the exception of the bad NAND in the old S2. If CWM doesn't work properly, you may have an incomplete/empty /system partition or other potential filesystem problems, which will not let your phone boot. If that's the case, you should be able to restore your nandroid with no issues. Flashing is always a risk unfortunately!

Also, if I make a backup in CWM, can I restore it in TWRP?

If you have the AT&T version then I have a few 5.0 roms over in the right section of development. Also have cm-12.0 in the original development section of AT&T devices. I am not sure about the wifi calling for T-mobile but I believe that all of my builds have wifi calling.

Yes, I have an att version- i717. I successfully flashed a tmobile rom with correct baseband changes when this phone was 6 months old-got it on launch day- and the official t-mobile wifi calling app was working.
I don't know of any other carrier that supports official wifi calling with your carrier number other than t-mo. Att is working on it, but it's still not out. Sometime in 2015 att will launch that official call over wifi with your att number. It comes in very handy when you are in a dead zone. Just turn on wifi calling and your phones works the same as over the 3g and lte connections, but on any wifi network with your native number.
I know voip over wifi works with 3rd party apps. Is that the kind of wifi calling you're referring to??
Either way, I will definitely check out your other 5.0 roms for the att Note. In the ATT side of development. My Note has been on the shelf for the past year or so!!!
Hi. I need help. I followed all the steps above but I can´t flash the rom. It always gets stuck at the goggle logo. I used CWM, because if I try WTRP I get a message error like " E:unknown volume for path. Any ideas? :crying:

You NEED to wipe everything except the sdcard & internal sd. Try that to see what you get?
No luck. Did all the wipes and nothing. I'm considering do a dirty install.
I get this message: error executing updater binary in zip "/sdcard1/candy5

Your recovery seems like it needs updated. I do not own this device so not sure which one will work. Do some research & see if you can flash my quincyatt roms to this device maybe? It has been done in the past & I keep those roms updated.

Im sure pollution is still around so maybe he would update things? If he isn't interest in this device any longer then maybe someone else could update his scripts, with permission from pollution of course.

What TWRP version do I use? I don't see one to download in post #2.
Boot into recovery (USE MY TWRP (ONLY) in second post or CWM if it's been updated)

I used CWM 6.0.4.3 and your version of TWRP 2.8.3.0 whit no success. Until I find a solution, I´m using the Beanstalk ROM. But I wonder if there is conflict with the kernel.

wgiddyup and nourmax64: I backed up my phone before flash the ROM. I wanna think you did so. If not, the only way to get your phone back is reflash the stock ROM with Odin. And then, if you want update your OS to KitKat, use the Beanstalk ROM, until we find a way to install this ROM.

Sorry about the TWRP mishap. My OP is a C&P from my quincyatt thread which has the twrp for that device. This device would need someone to update recovery for it.
Hello.
Any news on how to install this rom without any problems. I tried and got stuck on flying dots.
I would like to try this rom.
Thanks.

Unfortunately work has me very tied up lately and I have not updated this rom. Maybe you and some others can see about flashing my quincyatt roms to this device? It has been done in the past & I really have no time to look into this currently. You may be able to kindly ask @pollution for some assistance or insight on what needs to be done. I believe he was the Dev that made this possible in the past?

Sounds good. If he is not able to help I would be willing to see what I can do when/if I get the time. Not sure when that would be but time is not on my side currently.

No worries bro I have another question can I install a ROM through my internal sd card? My phone is not reading my micro sd card so I can not install anything and my USB port does not work so if I do a factory reset through custom recovery will it delete the rom I download it?
