I have seen many developers working for Xperia SP and I am glad many ROMS have come on Xperia SP.
The device SP and L came around the same time and I understand Xperia SP is better in few aspects but Xperia L is great too.
One thing that really to be concened about is lack of CUSTOM ROMS on Xperia L. Further to misery of Xperia L, there is still ZERO working ROM build from SOURCE till yet. NO CM, NO PAC, NO AOKP or anything till date.
No standalone recoveries either!
As you know it's almost six months since Xperia L and SP have been in the market.
I wanted to know why is there so lack of love for Xperia L from developers. I have Xperia L and I am seriously considering about selling the device and buying a new one. I feel like I made a mistake when I could buy Z, L or SP.
Any developer who could be of help to Xperia L ?
Do you consider Xperia L wouldn't go a long way in development ?
You need to speak to doomlord and offer to help with testing then you will see great things happen.......
Many devs only have certain devices, can only build, make, develop with help from testers. So to make big help offer to test, give log reports etc

You can asking @uberlaggydarwin for that. I think it have plan to working on xperia L too later. Not for now i guess.
Do you want to know something? Before uber, adfad, and kali working in cm for xperia sp, this forum section is really bored.
Same like you i've ever thing too changed my devices.
But this forum section is changed when those guys released and published working cm10. Many devs showed up, almost all aosp custom roms is available in a few days.
So you can kindly ask them for working on your devices, because they're awesome!

I have to agree with this. There is a SERIOUS lack of development on xperia L. I just hate to think of selling this phone, becuase I got for an fairly cheap price and it comes with great specs. I don't get why the devs aren't interested cause tbh there's not 'much' difference from SP, well there are a couple things but yeah.. this is a great device just like sp and it DESERVES to be treated just like sp. And as for uberlaggydarwin it's nice to know that he's working on CM for Xperia L, I've been following his G+ posts and he seems to be working on it at times however he hasn't got his hands on the device as yet.. so yeah. Hopefully if any TRUSTABLE and EXPEREINCED devs are interested in purchasing this phone, I'd be more than happy to donate.

I am in talks with DoomLord and I hope he has great news for Xperia L members!
logically, I think Z1 is possible to port the Android L on it, as Nexus 5 also get the Snapdragon 800, so the driver should basically the same
then, we can try to port it to Android L?
Sorry, if you think I am a noob to ask such question
it is just a random question

It could be ported but not on locked bootloader.
For unlocked bootloader you just need a good developer and that shouldn't be a problem.

Well....using that, released version won't be possible.
There must be some serious modifications and changes to boot that.
New kernel and drivers and many things...
It'll never be Android 5, it'll be modified 4.4.4 or whatever will be the latest build...

I, absolutely, do not.
Z1 will get 5.0 that's for sure...
Not only 5.0, I pretty sure we'll see few more versions (5.x.x) after that.
Z1 isn't XS and it has a lot "support time" in front of it...
I know I won't sell it
Sony started to release updates quicker than ever before and I'm very satisfied with them now...
Z2 should get 4.4.4 as well but Sony finally admit heating problem (camera related heating, sometimes even overheating with camera FC) so they are fixing that and Z2 will get 4.4.4 as well..
But...even Sony is faster now with updates and we saw Google finished (or almost finished) Android v5.0 I really doubt it'll be on our devices before autumn...
Sony must work on UI and change it, or change some things in/on it so thet will need a time...
My guess would be:
October - releasing Z3 powered by L
End of November - upgrading Z1/Z2 and maybe even Z (even I doubt that) to L
If rumors are correct and snapdragon 801 will be heart of Z3 they will need new OS to sell it
Same screen, same RAM, same chipset.... They need something new

you wont sell it, and you also have Z2
I guess Z1 is the Lab Rat of Android 4.4.4 for Z2, if heating problem got totally solved in Z1, then Z2 will release 4.4.4 very soon
for the L, I guess will be 2 months after IFA Z3 release,
I checked online Z3 is using S801 AC,but screen have some changes, and I guess if we are lucky enough that Sony would give out their trump card which is curved camera sensor. I hope we will really see killer of Lumia 1020 or 808

I realized that it's better to leave it.
I can't get "good money" for it so I decided to keep it.
My wife is using it and she loves it...
She was always saying it's ridiculous to wear brick in a pocket but when she took Z1 just for one afternoon I couldn't take it back from here anymore
It wasn't cheap to keep both devices but Z1 is just 9 month old device and I don't want to sell it for 300$...

I believe all three phones will be getting the newest android update, the Z1 and compact are no slouches and a hardware limitation can't be called as the 800 is literally an underclocked 801 afaik and with android attempting to get lighter and lighter, save some feature which needs to have a hardware counterpart, i can see no reason why the z1 and so forth shouldn't get the update and even the one after that, not sure what that'll be called (MiniRoll maybe )
There's life in the old dog yet.
Could see a port getting done, but it'll more than likely never have everything functional, so you'll be trading off a lot of the stability and features you now have on stock / modded Z1 firmwares, the camera for example would be an issue, interesting to see it in action but I'd more than likely revert back to stock to gain full functionality again.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Will our Z get the L or no?

For now bad news :crying:
,,Having said that, look for an Android L update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and the upcoming Xperia Z3. The compact versions, and carrier versions, too. Other phones are a total crapshoot. Sony will do everything they can, but as we've seen, often that's not enough. I'll repeat myself — nobody wants to update to Android L more than Sony does.
The same thing goes for their tablets. The latest models will find a way to get an Android L update, but anything made earlier than mid-2013 is too unpredictable to predict."

do not post questions in the general section!
Besides that, only Sony knows if we will get Android L
what features of L do you specifically need? or is this just a case of having the latest and greatest updates? looks at kitkat, that's not exactly brilliant now is it

Not the same really. More like the people who didn't get Ice Cream Sandwich. Even though the apps still work on Gingerbread you were left behind like some legacy user, Android had moved on.
We depend on the Nexus4.
Meanwile, first wait to receive 4.4.4

Its still a developer preview at the moment.
Also by the time its launched we will be out of the update cycle.
Even if there is no official update, there are lot of capable developers who will port L to Z

According to me will get the Android l but the timing will be very long considering that has not gotten 4.4.4
Hello everyone,I am ready to buy Xperia SP but I want to know some things first.
1.How good is the camera-screen??
2.Does OTG and MHL work like stock ROMS in CM11??
3.Are there any major bugs in CyanogenMod ROMs which will never be fixed??
4.Does the phone has problems with hardware??
Please answer as many questions as you can!
Why are buying xperia sp? I committed the biggest mistake of my life when I bought SP a few months ago. Sony has abandoned SP. I suggest you to buy Moto G 2014. I bought it for my sister and its amazing.

Since sony has abandoned SP. The unofficial support is rather limited as there are no sources. On the other hand, moto G will get better support as motorola is already officially releasing lollipop and would probably upgrade moto g to atleast one more android upgrade.
New official update => Official Kernel source and Binaries and libraries => Better custom rom support
also custom rom support is coming to the end too, KK roms are being finalized and cm12 for daily usage is vague.
anyway, with PAC 4.4.4 phone is good, no bugs. For cm11 I experience random reboots, nav bar lag tho.
Hi guys,
I would like to ask if there is any new Xperia SP rom featuring Sony's apps, framework, theme, etc (Like xperia z2/3 stock rom) and running on Kitkat 4.4.4?
I'm really sad that there aren't many developers anymore who want to create this I'm sick of 4.3
Anyway thanks for reading!
My friend have LG G2 and use Cloudy G3, ported G3 rom with all features from G3....Does it have way to port Xperia M2/E1/E3 or Z series 4.4 for SP with all features
that would be great, but i think our device isn't that popular and there are no many devs interested to do this...

Of course it is capable... But sony gives us semy-finished android 4.3, i would be more than happy if we have good android 4.3, but we havn't... There are a lot worse phones that are runing stock 4.4.4...
I have never flashed so many roms on one phone and still no good rom with normal ram management and without home redraw...
Now i give up and go on official cyanogenmod and hopes for best...
I think cyanogenmod is last station until i got money for nexus 5 or something similar... ☺
Little off topic but i must say all that...
Sorry for my bad english...
Edit: one more thing...if our developers knew that there will not be an official kit kat maybe they would do more to port stock 4.4.4...we al waited for official and when our device get old SONY decided that we ar not capable... Uh...

I couldn't say it better myself! I love Sony but when I heard of abandoned Kitkat update, it felt like a knife in my back... The reason I'm not going for Cm 11 (or 12) is that I'm really used to sony's interface and apps :/ So it's kind of a bummer that we have to stick witch (good) 4.3 roms...
There should be a way to get people more attracted making SP roms...
And cool! Love the nexuses!
