Hi, I wanted to ask if in your p9 the volume button wobbles
Yes, compared to the power button the volume button is a little loose but I don't think it's defective...

Thanks, I thought it was a problem only of my device :good:
The volume when you press the keys lowers normal or suddenly? I noticed this flaw, sometimes lowers and raises normally at other times just press and it also lowers too.
no one else noticed this bug?
Mine wobbles too, but power is more ridged.

So it is a problem of all!
And sometimes when you press the volume buttons it rises and falls abruptly?
I've tested five different devices in five different stores and all of them had nearly the same loose volume button. So I think it's a general "problem". This is not a good build quality for this price.
Abrupt volume rising generally appears when the phone was set to mute or vibration by the quick settings shortcut. As soon as you hit the volume button the volume jumps back to the level it was before the phone was muted.
My volume button doesn't wobble.
And it happens this problem? Of course I do not keep the buttons pressed. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=neGc3-aMjss

Well, this looks definitely like a bug! That's not normal and has nothing to do with the feature I mentioned before.
Did someone with the loose volume key try to replace his phone on warranty?
Is this really a defect or do we have to live with it?

No, I haven't noticed this behavior, yet. The only problem I'm facing is the loose volume button. Functionality is absolutely normal.

I have not asked for a replacement. I have the gray version, why?
The problem creates youtube, if you end app and delete data of the app the volume returns to work properly ...
Is normal
Mine is P9 gold and has also loose volume key . It is a normal behavior
I also have the loose volume button. (mine is EVA-L19)
I asked the store about the issue and they showed me a couple of devices. All of them have had the same button. Don't worry about it. My previous Honor 7 had the same issue.

Feel free to add this to the FAQ, I'm only making a thread of this because I know alot of people have found themselves unable to enter the bootloader using the Down Vol + Power Button combo that is normally supposed to work.
For some odd reason, it seems as if the volume button in some cases is swapped in hardware functions as it relates to the use of the phone when no software is present to run it.
Hence, if your down volume button doesn't work, try using the camera button + power button to enter bootloader mode instead.
Even if you've just Task 29'ed your device only to find that you can't enter bootloader mode normally, that method should work.

I'll be darned, it does work! Thanks Poet' !!!
Otherwise, I had bad volume button issues (stopped working, ROM independent), that I solved by shoving the mini-usb power plug into the mini-usb slot really really hard for 20 seconds or so and wiggling it a bit while pressing against on the volume key on the other side.
I know it sounds strange, but it really worked. My keyboard issues also stopped after that. Theories?
WOW! My volume button is broken, and couldn't flash ROMs from microSD (didnt bother me tooo much), but it works again This is a god send! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, but its physically phucked! Slight crack near the volume button, but only the volume button doesent work, sometimes it does work if pressure is applied to the case near the crack, but rarely Not too bad though, i can live with it, after all, we can change volume with the 6.5.X top bar as its not fidly, or even in 6.5 by disabling HTC notifications (which i hate anyway)
I did try ramming the mini usb power plug into it, different pressure while pushing it, moving it while it was inside etc, no such luck and i am a brute with this phone. I love how it can take a drop/punch/scratch. Built solid
a silly volume button doesent really decrease my fuctionality, or doesent do much to stop me changing volume! lol cant complain.

See my post in the general forum about how to solve the volume key problem. At least for me, turns out that very slight *downward* pressure on the USB port solved the problem. Crazy, I know.

Hi guys,
is there any possible i ask (maybe) the same problem?
maybe i had the same problem here. it wont enter to the bootloader. my phone just won't turn on, i already try to use the power button and volume button (not working), try to use power button + Cam button (won't work either). btw when i charge my X1, the illuminations light didn't show up, when i try to charge w/o the battery only red light on the power button, but once i put the battery again the lights turn off. is there any possible that my phone totally dead? thanks guys, appreciate for your help.

life saver!! thanks dude!!
So I have been trying to overcome the issue of power + vol up (held for 10, 15 seconds\ and more) not working on my device. No matter how long I hold the two it just won't reset the device.
At first I figured it could be kernel as that is the lowest code that I've knowingly changed.
Changing to back to stock kernel did not fix it.
I thought it could be any sort of thing so I redownloaded the NL 434 firmware and then also universal generic 434 firmware and flashed back to completely stock with flash tool, doing all wipes and excluding nothing.
Neither of those firmwares fixed the issue, the hard reset function still won't work on my device.
Additional info:
Both buttons function fine individually and can see no obvious reason to suspect it's a hardware fault (though see that it is feasible, just less likely).
I can confirm that it was working initially.
I have an unlocked boot loader.
The last time I can remember it functioning was prior to boot loader unlocking - the first thing I flashed after unlock was cm10.1 and I got stuck in sideload mode with no hard reset to get me out lol
Otherwise the device is fully functional. For the time being I am back on KA07 xperia revolution rom, with advanced stock kernel (cwm) from DooMLoRD.
If anyone has any suggestions or insight it would be greatly appreciated if you'd drop a comment :good:
EDIT:
I've restored back to 350 with EMMA, but to no avail . It did however tell me that my boot version is : 1264-2309 S1_Boot_Lagan_1.0_2
Is there anyway to change the bootloader :S
After getting home I tried re-locking the bootloader which didn't work.
really starting to wonder if I should be taking it back in as hardware fault.. wonder how that will go since I unlocked the BL
If anyone would be so kind as to do a quick test for me, would you please be able to go into service mode (open dialer type *#*#7378423#*#*) then go into service tests and select the buttons and switches one (I think that's what it's called )
When you hold down the volume up or down button, is it registering as 1 press, or several, continuous presses?
Cheers

Not entirely sure what you are asking, keyboard and switch, volume up only shows as volume up and volume down as just volume down, regardless if you hold it down or press it over and over again, or if you just press it once. Not sure if I am an idiot, but I couldn't work out how to test the keyboard from there.Although one interesting part is that is states it is not a test for the softkeys, but tests them fine

Yeah that was the menu I meant.. couldn't remember lol. Ok so when I would hold down volume up it plays a repetitive tone and the text on screen states "vol up", then "vol up vol up" for the longer I hold it (and the beep/sound keeps replaying... confusing sounding I know
When you hold the volume up botton down, does it just beep once and display vol up (exactly like if you were to press it once and release)?
Basically if I were to press it once, the phone would make a sound and the screen would display "vol up"
If I hold it down however it will register as a new press and the "vol up vol up" texts keeps refreshing as-though it was a new key press.
Also thank you very much for checking it out :victory:

Yep exactly as you say here.
Volume up once shows just volume up beeps once, twice shows volume up twice and beeps twice . Holding it down beeps over and over again and shows volume up twice.
Pressing volume down once from here (volume up volume up) shows volume up volume down, press volume down once more now shows volume down twice.
Hope this helps

Yeah it helps that I can probably assume that my buttons work fine.. I was thinking maybe they weren't registering as long pressed or something but apparently not this is really frustrating. Especially when an app freezes and I just have to sit there indefinitely till it comes back online or the battery goes flat
And I have no idea if it's something I did or something with the phone.
All I know for sure is that brand new it did work as I hard reset a couple times. Then I unlocked the bootloader and have no memory of it working since then... It makes no sense to me why completely returning to stock and relocking the bootloader has no effect though.

Yeah, I could imagine. You will have to find a cool fast battery draining game to help you along .
Not sure that it would be related to you unlocking the boot loader, otherwise I am sure quite a few would have mentioned that before now.
Do you even get the first vibrate confirmation? Have you tested the vibrate from the same service test menu?

That what I'm thinking - can I seriously be the only one having this problem. And why the hell does everything else work perfectly fine lol.
And no I don't get any sort of response (vibration or anything). Normally it just results in the volume turns up then the screen locks or display just times out but even after a minute of holding pwr + vol up nothing happens and the phone is simply in sleep mode. Otherwise vibration works fine.. currently I'm restoring the backup I made of the out of the box stock rom.. that's pretty much the absolute last thing I can think of that might do anything. Trouble is I don't remember if I made the backup before or after unlocking the bootloader.. can't remember if I flashed a custom kernel to get CWM or installed it otherwise...

I would recommend re unlocking the bootloader, the problem is a kernel level driver or hardware but it is definitely around that level.
Did you have any problems, or errors when you first unlocked the bootloader? Maybe Doomlord could give you some of his incredible knowledge on the subject

No the phone is 100% operational outside of the hard reset not working. It is just when I get stuck in a app that freezes or when CWM recovery tricks out and freezes I have to leave the phone for ages till either it a)unfreezes after an hour or so somehow, or b) the battery dies and it shuts off after a couple or more hours.
When your phone is out of action every second day simply cause you can't turn it off it gets pretty annoying haha. If it had a removeable battery I could easily live with it and just rip the batt out no dice.

I'm sorry for my confusion, which is why I'm asking so many questions. So, if you raise the volume, with the volume keys, the volume lowers again without touching the buttons? Are you keeping the phone in your pocket? Or does it lower again immediately after raising it?

How did you get the 5.1 update? OTA, sideload or factory image? I would suggest backing up your data, unlocking the bootloader, and flashing the factory image. If the problem persists after flashing the factory image, then it's probably a hardware issue. At that point, you could return for warranty service.
I had the same issue yesterday with my new one day old nexus 6 that was updated to 5.1 with OTA. The volume slider is stuck and will not move. I know the volume rockers work as if I push vol up or down the on screen volume slider appears...it just doesn't move. A quick reboot of the phone fixed it for me and I haven't seen it since. But please note I literally only had this phone for less than 24hours

Flash system.img and userdata.img (or data factory reset in recovery) in fastboot and reboot, that should fix it. If not, then its a hardware issue.
I recently (just over a month ago) bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and have had no issues with the phone until now. I had a couple of pop up notifications saying something about my phone being too low of a temperature. I thought I'd just reboot the phone to see if that fixes it. However, now it won't turn back on with only the MI logo appearing for a brief moment (probably less than a second) before turning back off. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there was some sort of way I could fix it myself without voiding the manufacturer warranty (ideally). I've already emailed the manufacturer and the retailer I bought the phone off of and am awaiting a reply from them. Thanks in advance.

At least try to look in the Settings guys, and don't just say "not possible" if you don't know it.
It's only two steps deep in the Settings, annoyed me aswell.
Go to SETTINGS --> SYSTEM SETTINGS --> ON-OFF-BUTTON
It was not possible to set power button behavior until recent updates, I think it was added in version A18 from two months ago.
