Hello!
I would like to tell you, how to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER on your HTC Desire 510. You need it to ROOT your phone, to install Recovery and to switch your Rom and so on. I TELL YOU HOW TO DO IT ALL WITH WINDOWS COMPUTER!!!!! Do backup, before doing UNLOCK BOOTLOADER, because your phone will be reset to factory default settings and this action may void your warranty. GET STARTED:
Step 1:
Download HTC Sync Manager and install it on PC. Link: htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
Download Java Runtime Environment and install it on PC. Link: java.com
Download adb.rar and extract files on the DISC C ( C:\ ). Link: docs.google.com/file/d/0B-smco0CRy_HUDl4WDhVaVlvamM/edit
Step 3:
Register you on this page. Link: htcdev.com
Step 4:
Go to home page there and log in.
Step 5:
After logging in click the button (UNLOCK BOOTLOADER) and then (GET STARTED).
Step 6:
You should select your device there, but you wouldn't find it. Because of that you should go under of this list and click (all other supported devices). When you did it, click (begin Unlock Bootloader). Then HTC Development will ask you (Are you sure you wish to continue) and click (Yes). Then accept all the terms and click (Proceed to Unlock Instruction).
Step 7:
I explain to you how to do this steps on the page HTC Dev on the HTC desire 510.
Power down your HTC Desire 510 and then take the battery out and in. Then press Volume Down and while pressing Volume Down, press Power holding both buttons to start the device into Bootloader mode. Use the Volume buttons to select up or down. Highlight Fastboot and press the Power button. After it all connect the device to the computer via a USB cable.
Step 8:
Then click: (proceed to step 5).
Step 9:
I explain you again this steps on HTC dev.
Open a command Prompt on Windows: Go to Start, search cmd there and open it. Write there: cd c:\adb and click Enter. Then write: fastboot devices. If there come fastboot (and something like C12AREBSJ3), then it is OK. When not, then you hadn’t installed HTC sync manager or your PC don’t see your phone. When it comes, then go on. Write: fastboot oem get_identifier_token there and click enter. Then you will see a long block of text. Copy and paste this text into the token field below (in the Windows command prompt: Right Click > Mark > highlight the block of text > Right click to copy. Mac users can use cmd-option to mark and select text.).
When copying the token, start with this line:
<<<< Identifier Token Start >>>>
And end with this line:
<<<<< Identifier Token End >>>>>
(Note: Only copy the highlighted sections above. Do not copy the INFO or (bootloader) prefix)
Then paste this string of text into the token field on the HTC dev page and hit Submit in order to receive your unlock code binary file. You will receive this information in your email.
Step 10:
Go to your email and download this file Unlock_code.bin on your computer. Move this file to the folder adb on the Disc C. Then write on command Prompt, on cmd: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin and click enter. On your phone you will now see the disclaimer. Please read this carefully as this action may void your warranty. Use the Volume buttons to highlight your choice, and the Power button to make your selection. If you select Yes, your phone will be reset to its’ factory default settings, and your bootloader will be unlocked. If you select No, your phone will reboot and no modifications will have been made. It’s all. After rebooting you will have a Unlock bootloader.
GOOD LUCK!!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::good::good::good:

Bro. Major wall of text. This process was detailed over a year ago, twice.
Chimera Tool
Chimera Tool has just added a module for HTC (So far just 15 devices, including 510)
It includes an unlock/lock bootloader option that appears to skip the HTC DEV steps. (Will confirm this when I get my hands on one to play with this evening)
I have a full licence, however, it is likely this is one of the features enabled in trial versions

Can you LOCK the bootloader after unlocking it using the same steps? That would be a first step in restoring to normal if warrenty work is required.
What is this underclocked 2?
If nobody else gives it a try by the time mine arrives tomorrow, I will root my device and then see if I can't reverse it for the sake of warranty preservation.
Glad we are already at this step on Day 2
I did this and I can't see protected apps on the market anymore.. anyone else experience this issue?
A way to check is to try to find Twidroid on the market or really any paid app

Same issue here.
well maybe it is underclocked but I doubt it. Google advertises the phone at 1Ghz.
my permisson app doesnt freeze for me but what you can do is remove it and use something like astro to go to your phones root dir theres a folder in there called superroot with the apk for it so you can reinstall it.
Is there a unroot tutotial as well?
Paid Market Apps
I had a feeling, and it seems to have been confirmed, that rooting will not allow me to download paid apps. I know that this was an issue when the G1 was first rooted and it was "fixed." Can someone confirm this issue? This is a big one for me.

I can still see paid apps.
Also, reinstalling the superuser apk fixed the blank screen issue.

The steps are these, and are verified to work on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 (32 or 64):
1. Power off the phone.
2. Hold volume down, then hold power. This gets you into HBOOT.
3. Select Fastboot using the volume buttons, then tap power.
4. Plug the phone in, and you should see FASTBOOT USB. If not, make sure the adb drivers have installed.
5. Open a command prompt, and change to the directory you put the adb and fastboot files in.
6. Type: fastboot oem get_identifier_token
7. Select the key, and copy it. Download the file from your mail called unlock_code.bin.
8. Type (in the dosbox): fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin.
9. Arrow down to YES, press power. Your phone will be wiped, and will reboot.
10. Install the TWRP recovery, and mod away.
TIP: If you're doing a TON of adb and fastboot stuff (as I do), it's a good idea to drop these files in the %windir%\system32 directory. This way, you can type them without changing directories to the path they're in.
Hope this helps.
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for what you do to your device, I tested these things for myself and posted it from my own experience, if you point the finger at me for whatever happens to your device, I will laugh at you.
HOWEVER, I am willing to help as long as it is asked kindly, and provided me with enough information.
Requirements:
Huawei P8 Lite ALE-L21 (DUAL-SIM)
5.0 Firmware of choice
Unlocked bootloader
Patience
Correct drivers
SD card of atleast 8 GB
Drivers: Install these before even starting!
Minimal ADB Fastboot drivers
Huawei HiSuite
Kingoroot Windows
TWRP 3.0.2.0 Kirin variant
Preparing environment: Making sure no admin priveledge is necessary
Install all drivers mentioned above in their standard directories, don't change anything.
Go to the following path:
Code:
For x64 OS:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
For x86_32 OS:
C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Copy these files:
Code:
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
fastboot.exe
And paste them on the desktop, in a folder called "rootingtools" so you're easily able to find it.
Then, go to your phone and enable USB debugging mode by going to
settings - about phone - press Build number 7 times
settings - developer options - USB debugging
Copy the content of "TWRP-3.0.0-2_P8-lite_KIRIN_variant.zip" and paste it into the "rootingtools" folder.
Backing up: Even though the unlocking process is not going to wipe your data, atleast it didn't for me, make SURE you have everything that you need backed up from the phone's internal memory.
Backing up your SD card wouldn't hurt neither.
First things first, unlock your bootloader!
I used this: https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
What you do is: fill in everything correctly and get the number at the end. It should be something in the words of:
Code:
Your unlocking password is: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
(X resembles numbers, 16 numbers in total)
Copy the 16 numbers and go to the "rootingtools" folder on your desktop.
Hold the SHIFT key and right click inside the folder, then press "open command window here"
Now take your phone, power it off and power it on by holding volume DOWN and POWER.
You will get a white screen that says something like fastboot, and an android logo.
Plug your phone into the PC via USB cable.
In the command window write:
Code:
fastboot.exe oem unlock UNLOCKKEY
Where UNLOCKKEY represents the key you just copied, right clicking pastes the key in the command window.
It should return finished, so now your phone should be unlocked!
If you look at the screen, there will be text beneath the green Android logo saying "unlocked".
In this case, the operation has succeeded and you can go to the next step, else you can try again or post a reply.
Now write:
Code:
fastboot.exe reboot
Now the phone will boot up like normal.
Close the command window.
Android 5.0:
If your android version right now is Android 5.0, and you actually WANT to root 5.0 or anything below 6.0 you can proceed with this step, if you have 6.0 or want to root 6.0, skip this step.
Since your android version is 5.0 you're blessed!
You can easily root, but before proceeding you might want to make a backup
Make sure you have about 8GB of free storage either on an SD card or internal memory first.
Connect your phone to your PC in the booted-up state where you can see the homescreen, making sure that USB debugging is enabled.
Shift + right click inside the rootingtools folder to open a command window and write:
Code:
adb.exe reboot-bootloader
Your phone will reboot into the bootloader, a white screen with a green Android logo that says "unlocked" beneath it.
Now on the command window write:
Code:
fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
Wait for it to finish and pull out the USB cable so it is NOT attached.
Power off the device by holding the power button, and power up by pressing volume UP + POWER.
Keep holding volume up until you see the Team Win logo.
Just slide the slider to the right.
Now go to "backup" and check every partition available.
In "name" you write:
Code:
MainBackupURTD
Then, go to the "options" tab and enable compression.
Go back to the "backup" tab and press "select storage".
From here you can choose where to back your data up, whether it be the internal storage or external SD card.
Press OK and swipe the slider to the right to start backing up.
Plug your phone in to make sure it doesn't power off during backing up, this process takes a while and you should let it do its thing.
When done, press "reboot system", your phone will reboot.
Let it fully start up.
Then, run Kingoroot on your PC.
Meanwhile, download the "SuperSU" app from the Play store.
Press the big "ROOT" button in Kingoroot and press "cancel" on every app your phone tries to install.
That way you will not install Kingoroot but SuperSU.
It will say "succeeded".
Now you can go on your phone and open the SuperSU app.
It will ask for an upgrade, press OK and go further with the normal installation (not the TWRP/CWM installation).
Let it do its thing and restart your phone.
Install any root checker and see if you're rooted!
Android 6.0:
Firmware version B188 or higher, below B524/B535 (excluding B524/B535):Upgrade firmware to this one: LINK (Link fixed)
Installation instructions: place file to the "dload" folder in your SD card or internal storage, then go to settings - updates - menu - local update and press the update.zip.
Then, follow the guide reported here: http://rootmygalaxy.net/root-huawei-p8-lite-android-marshmallow-6-0-update/
Enabling Gyro sensor (rooted android 6.0, B524/B535 firmware only! ( sorry :[ ) ):
Download attached file.
Put attached file to SD card.
Open ES file explorer, swipe to the right, enable root browser and click the R/W tab, then set /system as RW.
Then copy the attached file.
Paste the attached file in /system/etc/permissions
Press the search button and search for "gyro" without quotation marks.
Long press the only file that's there - menu and press properties.
Then change the permissions to 644, it should look like this O represents off, X represents on;
X X O
X O O
X O O
Set UID is off, Set GID is off, Sticky bit is off.
Reboot phone and download "Sensor box for Android" on the Play store and enjoy your gyroscope!
Now you can use Google Cardboard, though you have to install the APK...
You can watch 360 videos on youtube too.

Hiya, will the gyro hack work on a L02 B130 Android 5.0 as i can't get an update to 6.0 here in New Zealand?
unable to get unlock code
The Huawei ID used to apply for the unlock code has not been used on the device for more than 14 days.
@sevenaudio
As far as I know, the hack is for android 6.0 but there should be no problem in trying it out
It's just that it only worked for me on these FW
@DrLittle
I think Huawei has this policy of using your Huawei ID for 2 weeks (2 weeks online time) before you can unlock it
You could try sending them an email!

As in, what were you trying to flash.
And what is your phone model?

That way you will not install Kingoroot but SuperSU.
It will say "succeeded".
Now you can go on your phone and open the SuperSU app.
It will ask for an upgrade, press OK and go further with the normal installation (not the TWRP/CWM installation).
Let it do its thing and restart your phone.
Install any root checker and see if you're rooted!

I have android 6.0 firmware B311 and it doesn't show up the option local update, what should I do?
Attach pictures please
Its in portuguese, I had the option on the stock ROM but i don't have it now.
Should I downgrade to the firmware B300 and then install the new firmware?
do you think this works with ALE-L21 single sim too?

The Build number must be contain with these : WW_ZenFone-V6.6.3
This method for people who get error command (or Robot with Red Sign) after flashing update with Root file via Droidboot/Fastboot. Now i will show you how to fix that with flashing custom recovery temporarily before flashing the root file. But first thing, you have to download these file :
- Intel USB Driver for Android Devices (Google it)
- Platform-Tool (or ADB Tools if you will), TWRP and Root File : drive[dot]google[dot]com/drive/folders/0B-TAWFRNxvPcZm55NVJ5RjYwdVk (change the [dot] with "." without quote, i'm still new here as silent reader btw )
- Asus Unlock Bootloader (same google drive link, after download it copy to your sdcard or internal storage)
Click to collapse
Before you follow the instruction, you have to unlock your bootloader (if you new here and don't know what i mean). If you have unlock the bootloader then skip this !!
***Unlocking Bootloader***
Downlaod "Unlock_Tool_A400_v8.1.apk" and copy it to your sdcard or internal storage.
On your device, go to File Manager and install the app. If you get a warning message then :
Click on Option at the message > Scroll a little bit until you found "Unknown sources". Tick that box and go repeat step #2
Open the app, pretending you have read the User Agreement by quick scroll to the very bottom, check the box and click Ok
Quick scroll again, tick the box Accept and click "Press to unlock your devices"
If you get a warning message just click Ok, and your device should be restart automaticly after you finish reading this step.
Click to collapse
That's it, now your devices Bootloader is unlock, now continue to the next instruction.
Follow this (NEWBIE FRIENDLY)
1. Install Intel USB Driver.
2. Enable Developer Option
Go to Setting > About Phone > Software Information. Tap the build number 7x or more until the text pop up "You are now a developer".
3. Go back to Setting > Developer Options. Scroll down a little bit until you find "Enable USB Debugging" check the box.
4. Extract the platform-tools somewhere (e.g. Desktop), then copy twrp_recovery-V3.img and Root file into the platform-tools folder. DO NOT EXTRACT THE ROOT FILE
5. Now plug in your device to your PC
6. Go to the platform-tools folder, now do this : Hold [SHIFT] + Right Click, choose and click "open command window here".
7. Check if the devices is connected by entering this command : adb devices
If it says "xxxxxxxxxxx unauthorized" then go look to your screen, check the boxes and grant / accept.
8. Do step 7 again, if command prompt now shows "xxxxxxxxxxx devices" now continue to the next step.
9. Enter this command first : adb reboot bootloader. Now your device should restart automaticly to the Droidboot mode.
10. After your device screen shows a Droidboot mode, enter this command prompt :
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery-V3.img
fastboot flash update root_zenfone4_v2.zip
Click to collapse
11. Your phone should be restart after entering the final command, and then your device will go to the TWRP recovery mode and installing the root file.
FINISH !! Your phone now is rooted. Check your menu for "SuperSu" app installed after doing this method, if it want to update just click ok and click normal. Sorry for bad explaination or my english is a little bit crap.

Make sure your drivers are installed correctly as shown above. When in edl mode the drivers are different than fastboot. Try reinstall the application with right click and ‘run as administrator’.

It seems that there is something wrong with the drivers, or maybe the adb installation. Try to find other fastboot.exe and adb.exe then delete all duplicates except for "C:\adb", and don't forget to restart your PC.

Code:
fastboot flashing lock_critical
fastboot flashing lock
