How to make Xposed work on Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nexus5? - Xposed General

I'm trying to enable Xposed on Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nexus5, however got stuck there...
I've successfully installed Xposed framework via 3rd party recovery (twrp), app_process is linking to app_process_xposed, and /system/lib/libxposed_dalvik.so and /system/framework/XposedBridge.jar are also present. However, when I launched XposedInstaller, it still said that "Xposed is currently not active". Then I tried to click the "Framework" item in order install again manually, however XposedInstaller become "black screen" and ANR happened after a few seconds.
Can anyone help me on this? Below is what I modified in order to generate Xposed zip file for recovery:
1. Git clone xposed project and put into framework/base/cmds/
2. Git clone XposedTools, modify Xposed.pm to set lunch mode as "aosp_hammerhead-eng", and change output dir from "generic" to "hammerhead"
3. In XposedTools, change zipstatic/_all/META-INF/com/google/android/flash-script.sh to copy libxposed_dalvik.so and app_process (instead of lib*_art.so and app_process32)
4. Git clone Xposed's platform_build project, change BUILD_EMULATOR to false
Really appreciate your help in advance!

Framework not active no matter what i do

my phone is the Blu VIVO IV (aka Gionee ELIFE S5.5) with kit kat and I got it rooted by following this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/root-blu-vivo-iv-kitkat-4-4-2-t2854480
-I have superSu pro installed
-Root checker shows that I am rooted
-Mobile uncle runs (shows root) and I have no problem loading the recovery image
-unknown sources enabled
But xposed framework does not work correctly and I can't figure out what is wrong
- Xposed framework 2.6, 2.6.1 and 2.7 installs but it keeps telling me
"The latest version of Xposed is currently not active. Did you install the framework and reboot"
When I look under active and bundle. The # of active is the same as the bundled (app_ process 58 green active/ 58 bundled red)
I have reinstalled with classical, recovery (flash automatically) and recovery (manual flash). Same thing happens in all cases
If i ignore it and install modules, they do not take effect because it keeps telling me that xposed framework is not active.
- I tried xposed framework 2.5 and 2.5.1. They install and after a reboot becomes xposed is active and i don't get the message that it is unactive but i get crashes on my system ui. Gallery, mobile uncle and etc.
so i did a little more digging and I found that if check the "disable resource hooks" xposed now runs as active but most of the modules I'm using don't run
my logs shows the following
errors during xposed initialization
java.lang.ClassCastExpection: class android content res XResources doesn't extend class amigo theme core res GioneeResources
I assume that means that theming engine on my phone is interfering with Xposed?
anyone know i can get this resolved? I like to use xposed framework on blu vivo IV

Sorry for the obvious question, but...
are you using ART ? If so Xposed automatically deactivates itself, since it's only compatible with Dalvik !

sorry but can you explain what ART is? I believe the phone is running Dalvik
Sorry, I found what ART was and I have the option to run ART or Dalvik and I am running under Dalvik right now under "developers Option"
Digging around in the forum I know that the Huawei phones had the same issue but then they could just edit one line in the build.prop and it worked. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me since that line is specific to just huawei phones.

1-Install the xpose and open
2-Go to the framework and tap to "install/update"
3-reboot your phone
4- Again open the xpose go to framework and tap to
Installation mode" classical (write to/ system directly)
5- change the classical (write to/ system directly) to
Recovery (flash zip automatically)
6- And version change to "beta (sum box to be expected) click
7- Disabled to resource hooks click and back
Click the reboot don't click the "install/update"
And reboot your phone and enjoy:

Manual install of Xposed on KK ROM with readonly system and no CWM

Hi,
I am trying to get Xposed installed onto a device which has a readonly system and locked bootloader (therefore we cannot add CWM to run unsigned zips).
Using a procedure we're able to extract system, modify it (for instance add SuperSU / root) and put system back onto the dvice.
I have added app_process this way. It has the right permissions, etc. I have also added the apk to /system/app and also tried installing the app before changing the app_process file.
Xposed screen shows it's active (app_process = 58, XposedBridge.jar = 54), but still it complains it's not active after reboot.
See attached screenprints (01/02: now added attachments).
Any thoughts on why Xposed is not started? It's Android 4.4 with Dalvik runtime.
Regards,
Nika.
Try removing all traces of Xposed Installer app (especially when you previously installed it in /system/app).
Then install it as a normal app.

Need help installing arm64 sdk23 on HTC10. Installed but currently not active.

Hi,
My goal is to successfully install the Xposed framework on the HTC10. I have a stock RUU ROM, unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP recovery, and rooted it with Supersu with force encryption per Rootjunky.com videos on YouTube. Specifically, I'm using the xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64.zip, SuperSU-v2.71-forceencrypt_v2, TWRP-3.0.2-6-pme. Then I proceeded to install the Xposed framework and APK. It flat out dosesn't work. the Bin folder and log folders are empty and I receive "The latest version of Xposed is currently not active. Did you install the framework and reboot?" I have verified my root is working with a number of other apps. I have tried resolved the issue by executing the methods listed in this article: Can't post links yet cause I'm a noob. And they didn't work. I have completely wiped my device internal and external and tried rerooting and reinstalling and I still get the same result. I also have tried installing older version of the Xposed framwork. I have spend days troubleshooting it and I can't figure it out. No matter what I get the Currently not active.
Some of my reading points to the SE Linux Mode being set to "Enforcing" being the culprit as to why it is not working. I have no idea what this is. However, I can confirm that mine is set to Enforcing despite me executing all three steps in the aforementioned article. I installed that lean kernel so it should be set to permissive I would think but Device Control app shows otherwise.
When I click on Logs in the the Xposed Installer, it says Could not read log /data/data/de.robv/android/xposed.installer/log/error.log. I can confirm that it is installing something because the DE.ROBV.ANDROID.XPOSED.INSTALLER directory is there. And all of the sub directories are present. But bin and log directories are empty which I find odd. I would expect to see many files in there especially the Bin folder.
Any ideas how to resolve this without a log file? I'm sure the HTC10 is arm64 so that shoudn't be the issue. any ideas why this isn't installing correctly? Is it the SE Linux Mode? Do I need to S-Off of something? Any help appreciated!

Is there anyway to install Xposed framework on Android x86 7.1 (32bit v89)

Hi everybody!
I'm trying to install Xposed framework on an Android x86 - v89, 7.1.2, SDK25 (installed over VirtualBox).
So I followed the official thread, and downloaded the apk and the zips for SDK25, version 89.
Than I unzipped the zips into the sdcard folder, copied exposed.prop to /system
and run flash-script.sh from the terminal (of the android x86),
than rebooted.
But when I open the Xposed installer app it says:
"Xposed framework version 89 is installed, but not active. Please check the logs for details."
When I'm trying to view the logs I get the message:
"Cannot read log/data/user_de/0/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/error.log (No such file or directory)".
I tried to do everything I found in order to fix it,
Gave permissions to the Xposed installer,
Created the error.log file myself,
Reinstalling the all Xposed (zips, and apk),
Reinstalling the all Android x86 OS,
And everything I found online..
I really looked out to every tutorial I found online but nothing actually helped or fit the Android x86 (involved Recovery mode which is not available in Android x86).
Anyone ever did such thing or can help me?
Thanks for your help in advanced,
James T. :fingers-crossed:

Could not load available ZIP files (Xposed v 89)

I was required to re-flash a old LOS-release(LOS for microG 14.1.20180811) and addonsu to a retired MotoE 1524 Surnia.

Is the following error message critical and is it required to fix in order to have Xposed working properly?

hello,
I think I have the same problem with the Samsung Tab 3 and LineageOS 14.1.
The framework version 89 SD 25 was flashed via TWRP-3.0.2-0.
The tab is rooted.
Error message that ZIPs were not loaded.
Download from server failed.
Are the links dead?
Also other links on this page to download zips and apps do not always respond.
Could someone help me with this?
I am still a newbie.
Greetings
As long as you can use it, I don't see the problem here. The site has been down for a couple of month now. So I guess that is very normal. And he doesn't really seems to care about xposed anymore.

Very good to know Thank you very much CookieCream for this answer!!
yes
Well, I have the same problem but before installing Xposed. I suppose I could source the files from somewhere but how do I import them into the app?
Alternatively, a fork of the app that still works in 2023 - whether through a web server where the files are rehosted or by allowing them to be sideloaded - would be greatly appreciated. LineageOS 18.1 (Android 10)

Thats the problem, we cant use it as it wont download its necessary files after a fresh install.
Is there a way of obtaining the necessary files elsewhere instead of Xposed so we can reinstall it manually?

yes. by searching for the apk file. the apk (doesn't matter if it has a UI or not) is the module

It actually does matter for a fresh install as you also need v89 for whatever sdk version you have which comes from a download after installing, v89 doesn’t come with the apk.

Actually, the xposed app is (normaly) in the zip and the module (you install) are apks. As far as I'm aware, you can't just install xposed directly with a apk (like magisk) but you need custom recovery to install it anyways... So, what's the problem there? The modules? You can install them with a apk. Like gravitybox or any xposedd module...
