I'm having a lot of issues with my phone running horribly and whenever I plug it into my computer it tells me that my internal storage needs to be scanned and fixed. So either my card needs to be formatted or it's going bad. I'm assuming this could also be the cause of my phone some time taking ~10 minutes to turn on. So I have a few questions:
1) can I completely format my card and still have stock experience for exchanging it? *I went ahead and did this because I'm impatient. seems to be working and I'll keep testing it and go from there*
2) I did root and flash custom roms on it before but the rom i'm running now is a flash of the original rom on my phone but rooted. Then I updated to JH7 and it got rid of the root. When I went into the store previously and had issues with it, the guy mentioned that I had a different IMEI from what they had registered. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact of flashing or if it's from having to get the first captivate exchanged for another one. Are there any steps I can take to ensure that everything is in correct order and there's no way to see that anything has been tampered with.
Any other advice on things that should be done before going to a ATT warranty store would be greatly appreciated.

1) yes
2) Flash back to 2.1 using ODIN and you should have everything stock including your IMEI. Not JH7 but JF6.
Hopefully you backed up your stick settings prior to flashing. Sine custom roms change your product code and imei. Flashing with ODIN will not fix the product code. I'd the imei is correct I highly doubt that the tech and the DSC knows about checking the product code but you never know. Search around XDA there has been plenty of posts surrounding this topic.

not sure if this posted the first time...Dont know what to do at this point...any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Here is what all i have done so far. Late 2010 i downloaded OCLF from android market and rooted 2.1 Eclair had consistant Quad score from 2300-2450. Phone started acting glitchy and slow so i used app to unroot and root back. Worked great for a little while then same problems repeated. So i thought i'll update 2.2 then reroot. Waited on 2.2 through Samsung Kies to release and updated. 1st attempt phone rooted but when booted up it didnt recognize sim or memory card and about 5 force close screens appeared when on home screen. Also, wifi stopped working completely so i bought a new router and it worked again(tried on other wifi locations to test issue before and after). Samsung Kies wouldnt allow another update so i used Odin and it seemed to force everything through. Tried downloading SuperOneClick on WinXP went to root error stated i needed .net 2.0 file, so i downloaded .net v3.5. Went to root again and same error missing 2.0 file. Tried using One Click Root and copied files to memory card clicked 2.2 root phone reboots and i get the "signature verification failed error" a majority seem to be receiving(both done on WinXP and Mac 10.6.6-on Mac phone reboots fine but there is no root in place). Ive also tried other methods i've read about such as OneClickLagFix and z4root, downloading to computer placing on memory card using "MyFiles" that comes stock on device and "Astro Manager" from android market. When i extract files i get a security error that At&t has wonderfully put in place. Also tried rebooting into recovery mode to apply update.zip file and there is no option to install specific file only option to reinstall packages and when i reinstall i get signature verification error. THEN i used Odin to go back to 2.1 tried using SuperOneClick and One Click Root same problems repeat. Used Samsung Kies to go back to 2.2 to make a little faster since i cant seem to root either way and now i have no 3 button recovery mode or download mode. Purchased 3 ohm resistors for a Jig in case i EVER need download mode since my phone seems to be all sorts of messed up(or maybe its just user error). Ive tried many other ways and methods but this post is already too long to list. Phone seems to be running decent Quad score between 1000-1050 but i would appreciate ANY advice to root on either 2.1 or 2.2. I'm running Windows XP and Macbook w/ v. 10.6.6 and i feel as though i had exhausted all options!! PLEASE HELP!?!?
First of all. DO NOT PANIC. In order to solve your problem, first thing you need to do is leave everything as it is right now and head for the closest Starbucks, drink your coffee slowly and read the paper.
After you calm down, come back and do the following:
1) Read complete this posting and watch all three videos
2) Using one click ODIN flash back to JF6. If you don't have the three button combo use the DG ODIN that has the three button fix.
3) Do a master clear
4) In this point you have your phone like a brand new captivate on JF6. You can either use Kies or install CWM and install a new ROM.
5) I would recommend a new ROM that you like. Try one that you can flash directly with CWM because it is easier.
Best of lucks

Hey folks. I'm bailing on Gingerbread because it was causing me too many problems. I'm trying to get back on Firefly 3.0 and I'm stuck at getting the phone rooted.
Whenever I try to copy the Root.zip from the AIO folder over to the phone's root folder, I get an error about the parameter being incorrect. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
Use Fugu root? Easier.... Also depending on what Gingerbread you are on there are kernels that have the root scrip baked in them.
^ you misread he's not on gingerbread, he wants to flash firefly.
You don't need root to flash a ROM. Odin a kernel that has cwm baked in. boot into recovery and flash the ROM.
Thought he was on GB trying to get on... you know what ya I missread. @OP do what Studa said xD. Wonder why people think they need root to flash roms..... I blame Rom Manager.
I know I don't need to root the phone, but in order to get certain things done on the phone, it's necessary.
I'm actually at a wall right now. I used SamsungCaptivate-SGHi897-UCKB2-Rooted-One-Click which successfully booted my phone to ATT 2.2 firmware, but I can't get any Odin to pick up on it now. I've tried five different Odins.
At this point, I think once I get the phone up and running on Firefly, I'll be walking away from flashing until I get another phone. Then I can use this for testing, etc.
On a side note, before I started this project yesterday, my modem was messed up. Now it would seem I have a successful connection to wifi, which I couldn't get.
As great as that is, I still can't get Odin to pick up my phone. Any thoughts?
Was that kb2 package heimdall?
If so you have to uninstall the heimdall driver and reinstall the Samsung driver.
Either way I would reinstall the Samsung drivers but it is a must if you used heimdall add the drivers conflict.
Alright. That's done, but I'm on I896UXJL1-stock now, and I'm pretty sure in doing that through Odin 1.85 I unrooted the phone. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's why I used the ATT stuff, because it auto-rooted the phone.
So it would seem I have some issues to work through. I can either root my phone and be stuck with ATT firmware that I don't want, or I can unroot the phone and use Rogers stock and hope for the best with Firefly.
This is by far the most confusing computer-related issue I've ever worked with. There's too many options to play with and they all work differently.
Why would you be stuck on at&t firmware? Why do you need to root before flashing firefly? Why don't you root Rogers stock?
you're confusing everyone involved lol
Okay, so maybe I'm a little in the dark on the rooting issue. Basically, I'm going back to Firefly because I thought it was amazing. Fast, responsive, and no issues I can think of on my phone.
I'm rooting the phone because it's my understanding that in order to spoof my location in order to get certain apps (Google Music), I'd need to be rooted.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get this done, and my biggest problem, to reiterate, is that I have about fifteen different Roms, all either ATT or Rogers, three different Pit files, and so, so many Odin programs.
I'm now on 2.1 with that Toronto stock firmware, in order to work around the 3e error in recovery mode when trying to put on Clockwork. Unfortunately, now I'm getting some other error in regards to the Update.Zip file, Status 7.
I apologize for confusing people, but I promise I've read as much as I can about the tools I'm using, but I'm running in circles, flashing back and forth trying to find solutions.
you do not need to root before flashing the rom. it will be rooted after and then you can do what you need to do to get your apps working if you need to (firefly contains canadian locale cause its based off of rogers froyo firmware) changing stuff before you flash so apps can work is a waste of time as the flash will overwrite the firmware you just tweaked.
now, since your on eclair i'm attaching an update.zip that contains cwm, put it in the root folder of your sdcard boot into recovery select reinstall packages twice and it should boot into cwm where you can then flash firefly.
You're a frickin' genius, Studa. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've got Firefly on thanks to that Update file, and I'm getting the ball rolling on everything else. If I wasn't so broke, I'd donate, but I hope my thanks is good enough. I really appreciate the help. It cut through twelve hours of stupid.
Hey guys!*
First time posting on this site but I'm hoping you guys can help!
I have a Note 3 N900AUCUEOC2 5.0 Lollipop version.
My ultimate goal is to root my Note 3. Since in the past I have rooted my old phones and love it. But with the Note 3, specially the N900a 5.0 lollipop version, it seems hardest to get accurate root instructions for.*
After days of searching over many forums, I came to the conclusion that I need to flash my version (using Odin) Lollipop 5.0 OC2 back to Kitkat 4.4 NC2 and then from there I can use Towel Root to root my device and then upgrade to 5.0 again. So I thought..?
First of all, I backed up all my contacts and apps and everything using Easy Back Up. To my ext SD card an then I removed my ext SD card for safe keeping. Then I downloaded the required (working) Odin N900AUCUCNC2 files. Which was 4 separate files. I then put my phone into Odin Mode and connected to PC and ran Odin with the files selected. Everything went smooth, passed and my phone rebooted.. of course I was expecting a full factory reset with the new version. But when I check the version it says I'm still on 5.0??? And I even tried to fire up Towel Root and it won't even let me go to the site anymore and gives me a 404 error messege. All other sites seem to work tho.
Also to confuse things more, I turned off my phone and put my SD card back in to retrieve my back up and everything else on it. But... there's nothing there! It's complete wiped clean! Which doesn't make sense since I didn't have it inside my phone during the flashing progress.*
So now I basically flashed my phone for nothing and lost all my data in the process.*
I thought I was more computer savy than this but I guess this one stumped me and I could really use your guys help.*
Where did I go wrong and how can I fix it?
Please remember to help us keep the forums clean by only posting once. You're getting answers in your original thread so I am closing this one so the discussion can continue there.

Hello I'm not really that good with mobile tech so excuse my noobness but i decided to dive in and try to root my samsung s6. Here is step by step what i've done so far
Following a few tuts after backups i rooted my phone and verified it with root checker.
Next I downloaded a few popular root apps and removed a bunch of bloatware on the phone
Today I decided to try to install a custom ROM for my phone, after finding a suitable one for my model I proceeded with his guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-0-t3094423
Next I downloaded all the correct files (I'm confident I double checked)
Now I'm not sure if this is where I went wrong but I installed TWRP custom recovery first
Then I proceeded to install modem with Odin and that went fine it passed and phone restarted
But when I go to install bootloader under BL in Odin it just fails, tried 3 times same result
Can anyone suggest another step in troubleshooting this? If it helps I was running stock samsung os never tinkered with the phone before this
Any advice is appreciated and please let me know if there is any more info i can provide
Thanks
EDIT:
Ok so I posted this late last night after trying to figure it out for a while. This morning I left for work to discover I had no mobile capabilities at all. No data, call, text nothing. Last night I was connected to my wifi at home so I guess I didn't notice. This has been obviously brutal with no communication all day. I tried tinkering a bit with it (did a factory reset through TWRP, tried flashing everything through TWRP) and nothing really helped.
Now I'm not really sure how to proceed so any advice would help as I don't want to brick my phone. What I'm planning on doing next that is the only thing that makes sense to me (again I have very little experience with phones) is to:
1. Re-flash everything through TWRP
2. Re-flash using stock rom, stock bl, and stock modem using Odin
My questions are is there any particular order I need to do this in and also will I have to re-root the phone again after or will this just be the stock rom but still rooted?
Thanks again literally ANY ideas u can throw out here go a long way as I've opened myself a can of worms
