Last night, on TWRP I formated data on the SD card, which is why I have no OS. Now looking for how to fix this on xda/google, I get into the bootloader, have fastboot usb and try to adb shell but I keep getting the "error no device found". I already installed latest drivers from HTC on to my laptop and still nothing. Any other idea?
windows 8?
First off, make sure you have HTC Sync Manager installed because that will give you the proper drivers in order to be able to use ADB commands.
Afterwards, make sure you install Java JDK and Android SDK.
Just follow this tutorial here: http://www.howtogeek.com/125769/how-to-install-and-use-abd-the-android-debug-bridge-utility/
Follow it word for word and make sure you install JDK X86 even if you have a X64 computer. And then download SDK Manager, put it in C:/ drive, open SDK Manager, and download the necessary tools (also all in the tutorial).
I was in the same position as you just before yesterday and I followed this tutorial with success.

try downloading all in one toolkit and try that. just make sure to read the onscreen instructions as you go through the process

I'll look into both things, thanks.
EDIT: even on my mac adb does not see any devices, before when I entered ./adb devices it would show "list of devices:" and it would be blank.
Good luck, man. It's fairly easy once you read the tutorial carefully and follow all the steps to the word. After it's all done and the command prompt says Sideload 100%, boot into TWRP, tap INSTALL and then scroll down to sideload.zip and that's your ROM. Also after copying the desired ROM to platform-tools in the SDK folder, rename it to rom.zip, it seems to work 100% that way while it struggles a bit with long names.

Still getting the error: device not found.
I even ran the all in one tool kit and attempted the "ADB sideload a ROM" follow the steps but get an error on CMD "C:\users\(username) is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
I really do not understand why adb is not working, I did s-off and supercid myself maybe less than a week ago.
Are you sure you followed all the steps in the tutorial including installing JDK, using SDK Manager to download some tools and such? And are you sure you have the proper drivers installed (e.g HTC Sync Manager)? I used to get that error before I installed it. Go to Device Manager while in ADB mode in TWRP and see if the device is recognized or if there's a yellow sign beside it indicating that there are no drivers for it.

It came up under Android USB Devices as My HTC. When I was following the steps on the link you provided, when I tried to update the drivers with the google usb driver wouldnt work, it would say "windows had determined the driver software for your device is up to date". When I go into My HTC properties says the driver version is 2.0.7.18.
The Google USB drivers did not work for me either, only the ones provided by HTC Sync Manager did. I have not experienced that problem, mate, so I do not know what to do at this point, I am very sorry. If you are not able to fix this, I suggest getting an OTG cable and directly loading the ROM from the PC to your SD card. I ordered one a couple of days ago and it is coming tomorrow, it's very helpful

Crap, I appreciate your help though.
EDIT: nevermind googled it, gonna pick one up. Phoneless till wednesday
I am sorry to hear that, but I suppose that's the only thing you can do at the moment. Even if somehow get ADB working, do not cancel your order because OTG cables aren't only used for mounting the device, but also for things like connecting gamepads and controllers to play games on your device.
USB 3
If you have USB3 port adb.exe wan't recognize your device.
I triend first on USB3 and after on other older computer on USB2 all was fine

You can't acces to "adb shell" without OS, there is special mode in adb named "adb sideload" , not shell !
1) Check version adb by "adb version" you need version 1.0.29 or higher
2) Check TWRP version (2.3 or higher) Go to TWRP recovery -> adb sideload
3) Connect PC to phone , at PC in device manager must be MY HTC device.
4) Type jn PC adb sideload /yourpath/yourrom.zip

Hello, This is my first ever post on this site. I'm a beginner so take it easy,"if you can"
i have searched all the post i could find both google and xda. i seem to be stuck in twrp mode every time it boots it goes directly to the
twrp menu. i found i have no os installed and no files at all even the twrp.zip file which i had it saved on the /sdcard/downloads. im not to familiar with fastboot but i think i can get it into it by using the factory cable but i can see it on my comp as kindle but missing drivers. i tried installing drivers but to no avail. what can i do... please help if you can and ask for more info if you need it. Thank you
You shouldn't nessasrily need fastboot to fix this, I'm assuming the drivers you don't have installed for twrp is the adb device, so try updating Ur drivers with this version of the drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44446906
Once the adb driver work you should be able to go I to twrp, hit advanced, then hit side load, and swipe to start side load, and with it plugged I to your PC put either a cm ROM or the stock rooted amazon ROM from android development into the same folder as your adb command, and run a line with this syntax in a command prompt: adb sideload myrom.zip
If that doesn't work you might be able to use adb push when not in side load mode but I haven't tinkered to much with twrp. If you must resort to using fastboot you shouldn't even need a factory cable in this case, as u can just go into twrp and hit reboot and tap bootloader, that should put you in fastboot. Hope this helps.

Ok guys thanks a lot to stunts513 i have got it fixed. i will explain it to all the noobs out there what i did.
Like stunts513 said download the drivers from the link he provided, ok once you download it you will see a whole bunch of files but no exe files
like i said i was a noob and i was stuck on how to install the drivers, what you do, is you go to the device manager and click update drivers on the unknown or kindle with the yellow sign (assuming you have one) the click "let me pick from a list....." next if you see "have a disk" click that if you dont see it, hit next you will see it then. now point it toward the "usb drivers file" you just downloaded there should be a .inf file there click it and say open (next-next-next) your done on that part then follow his instructions
when you reach the part of the adb command this is what i did, i moved the file to where my adb was right next to adb.exe. i named it com10.zip to make it short and easy to type. you then start the adb by typing cd (wherever you placed your adb setup, mine was in C:\Users\MN\Desktop\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130717\sdk\platform-tools) then type adb devices to see if your kindle is under there it should, mine at the time said something like "12312if8923823f recovery" before you type adb sideload make sure you are in the twrp menu and your in the sideload option. you then type adb sideload yourfilename.zip ....... "yourfilename meaning the file you wanted to transfer which should be in the adb tool section" it will start to transfer, when it was finished go and flash it your done.
One other thing that i had a problem with was, i couldn't get the kindle to connect to my computer, what you do is while it is connected uninstall the driver first in the devicemanager, then go to program files and the amazon folder keep going until you get to a folder with a uninstall .exe click it and uninstall it, then disconnect and then install the kindle drivers the reconnect there you go.
I hope i helped anyone had a similar problem cause i was up since 3 am in the morning working on this lol " i had hard bricked a kindle before, i was determined not to let it happen again"

Thanks, this helped.
Another noob here, first post. Firstly, thanks very much, this was also a great help to me. Just wanted to say i had a little trouble with the sideload command. Kept returning the error * cannot read 'com10.zip' *. Despite being in the same directory as the adb, to fix you must give the directory in the command like so:
adb sideload C:\pathToAdb\com10.zip
Just in case anyone is having the same issue. Cheers again
Hi mates, please help.
I have just update my girlfriends HTC One M7.
It was a 4.2 Android version from ARHD. I didn't notice that I needed to update Recovery in order to run new ROMs and now is looping in HTC logos.
The problem is that Fastboot isn't working with Windows 8.1 (I've been hours trying different drivers).
ADB is working right, but I can not install RECOVERY.IMG throught recovery or sideload.
I was thinking in installing through sideload an old ROM that works with my Recovery but I can not find any.
¿Any other solution?
¿A factory reset will work?
Thanks,
I'm in a hurry, i'm leaving soon and i do not like to let her with a brick mobile.

Win 8.1 does not work with lower hboots. You should try a Win 7 computer or Linux on USB.
HOW TO USE LINUX FOR FASTBOOT & ADB VIA USB
This guide originally posted by @Danny201281
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54272479&postcount=219Linux is your friend; if your drivers are not working the chances of getting them working again without the phone booting are slim. But Linux doesn't need drivers to talk to your device.
Go here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ and download Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3
Then go here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/ and download Ubuntu from the first link at the top that says PC (Intel x86) desktop CD
Then use these files to create a bootable Linux USB drive with at least a 2 GB persistent file for storing files. You'll also probably need to change your boot settings in the computers bios to boot from USB.
MOVING YOUR FILES TO UBUNTU
Once booted you should be at a screen with options to "Try Ubuntu” or "Install Ubuntu". We don’t need to Install anything so just choose "Try Ubuntu" and the computer will boot to the Ubuntu Desktop (If you get a popup saying "system has encountered an error" or something similar just cancel and ignore it, it should have no effect on what we need to do as it is due to missing Linux OS updates we don’t need). On the left of the screen you'll see the Dock. Open the orange folder icon near the top this is the Home folder. It’s where we need to put any files we need to work with such as a rom.zip you want to push to the device or recovery.img files for flashing.
To get your files here is a simple drag and drop process. In the top left of the Home folder you'll see the drive structure of you pc under devices. Choose your PCs hard drive and Right-Click then" Open in a new window". Locate your .zip or .img files and drag them into the home folder. Now wait for the copy process to complete and rename them for easier typing later, e.g., rom.zip, firmware.zip or recovery.img etc.
USING ADB AND FASTBOOT
First you need to install adb fastboot; this is easy just 3 commands in the terminal. Thanks to Webupd8 team.
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Code:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
Make sure your connected to the internet and press Ctrl+Alt+T to open the terminal then type or copy and paste the above commands one at a time waiting for each to complete their output. It may seem to have stopped at times but be patient when the prompt returns to normal enter the next command and when there all done you’re ready to use adb and fastboot.
Once you've moved all the files you need to the home folder that’s it you’re ready to go. Close everything down on the desktop (optional) and press Ctrl+Alt+T this will open the terminal now connect your phone with the USB cable. All fastboot commands need to have the "sudo" prefix added at the start, e.g.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img becomes sudo fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot devices becomes sudo fastboot devices
However, adb should work basically the same as on windows. If you do have problems with normal adb commands adding “sudo” can help here as well.
If you get "no permissions ?????????" when trying to use adb, type:
Code:
killall adb
Disconnect the phone for a few seconds, then reconnect and type:
Code:
sudo adb devices
adb should now work as normal without the sudo prefix.

Yes, if you can find an older ROM that doesn't require an updated custom recovery. However, you wanted to update your girlfriends ROM and in order to do that you will need the newer custom recovery!
The other option, if you can find a newer RUU you could flash that and possibly Win 8.1 will work with the higher hboot.
Personally, Linux is not that difficult and if you follow the instructions posted you will not have an issue.

Yes you will be able to access files on your pc's harddrive from the Linux pendrive. But it's better to copy them to the Linux home folder as in my guide before flashing. This is why you need the persistent file. It's like a Virtual Hard drive on your usb stick
Otherwise it will complicate flashing with long file paths needed for the adb and fastboot commands.
Just follow my mini guide and you'll be fine

I recently sold my HTC One M7 and I'm trying to take it back to stock. I followed the instructions on HERE to go back to stock and got to the point of flashing the appropriate RUU.zip, but during the flashing process the phone lost USB connectivity to my Windows 10 (tried 7 as well) PC and failed. I can see that it at least reverted the HBOOT from 1.54 to 1.44. I can still boot the phone all the way up into ARHD 93.0, it's still showing it has the latest firmware installed (7.19.401.51) and latest TWRP recovery (2.8.7.0), but if it keeps disconnecting from USB when I go into Fastboot how am I supposed to do anything?? I mean, I can't even flash back to a newer HBOOT without Fastboot working.... right?
/EDIT
Well, it's some kind of Windows driver issue, but hell if I can fix it. Under Device Manager on my Windows PC it says Android USB Devices > My HTC but it has a YELLOW triangle on it indicating it's not recognized. I've tried uninstalling the driver and doing some other things but I cannot for the life of me get it to recognize it properly on either Windows 10 or 7. Please help! I seriously don't understand why this is all of the sudden messed up.
Maybe not the simplest solution, but it is A solution if drivers are truly the problem-- use Linux-- no need for drivers. You can run it within Windows using Virtual Box (or install it on your hard drive alongside windows on a separate partition, but that might be a bit drastic just to use fastboot). The ISO files are available to download for free-- most recommend Ubuntu, I like Linux Mint, personally.. once you have the OS installed (whether it's in Virtual Box or your hard drive), all you have to do to install ADB and Fastboot is open a terminal window and type:
$ sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb (for adb; use android-tools-fastboot to install fastboot)
OR
$ su
# apt-get install android-tools-fastboot (or adb)
Then they are installed and ready to be used.. no drivers needed, no need to be in the directory containing the files-- just plug in your device and open a terminal window and you're good to go. Occasionally you will need to kill the server to get adb to recognise your device. Fastboot should always work. If fastboot returns with "no permissions," try running as root (or using "sudo fastboot).
Thanks, I forgot to post back here yesterday but that's effectively what I did except I used a Mac and everything went smoothly... stupid Windows
I have had a very eventful few hours and I'll do my best to explain. Earlier this morning I was rooted, twrp installed and running FreedomOS. I had this bright idea of flashing a file I had downloaded from the OP3T website. It was a firmware file (either the first option, the option before OB5). Everything was running smoothly until I got home and tried using fastboot at which point it just sticks on waiting for device. All normal options are checked (adb files installed, debugging selected, the works), but now I can not use fastboot what so ever. I did at one point sideload an OTA using adb sideload (filename.zip). I have tried just about every adb option I can think of to include: 15 second ADB and minimal adb and fastboot. I even deleted the OP3T drivers from my computer, reinstalled those drivers. I followed an article through technobuzz: http://www.technobuzz.net/download-oneplus-3-usb-drivers/
http://www.technobuzz.net/setup-adb-fastboot-drivers-for-nexus-oneplus-samsung-or-any-android/
I have been using adb and fastboot with no issues up til Open Beta 5 and now my PC and another PC is giving me crap and it's iritating the %%%k out of me.
adb reboot recovery works, adb devices work - showing that the device is connected. I checked the device manager and only found the portable devices. It's like my computer somehow magically deleted the adb driver and will not allow me to install an adb driver. I have no logs to check out....15 second adb was suppose to place a log file on the desktop, but it doesnt....it wont install
Here's what Im on:
OB5 (7.1.1) with stock recovery. I can not use fastboot commands. Here are some pics
http://imgur.com/a/y7iFE
http://imgur.com/a/SVVMg You should see something that says, "Android Device or ADB", but nothing - just MTP
http://imgur.com/a/62msw
I'm using windows 10, device signature is off
Essentially I just want to be able to fastboot flash TWRP and gain root.
Has anyone else experienced any kind of issues with OB5 and adb/fastboot
Btw I had the entire Android SDK installed on another computer and that did not work either....Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm talking about you @redpoint73, lol
Oh boy, I've been summoned! I have to say, I'm not anywhere near knowledgeable yet with the 3T as I was with my past devices. But I'll try.
I assume you are properly trying fastboot commands while in fastboot mode (not in OS or recovery)? I assume so, since you already said it worked fine before the update. But it never hurts to ask the obvious, as a lot of folks forget that adb and fastboot work a bit differently (fastboot only in fastboot mode, adb only in OS or recovery - debugging only needed for adb, not fastboot).
Do you have the OP3T drivers installed? These are the files that Windows always opens whenever I connect the phone (while booted into phone OS), select File Transfer, and it gives the option to open the folder. Although I don't think you even need the drivers for fastboot to work. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP before I ever installed the OnePlus drivers. The generic fastboot drivers worked fine. But it's worth a try, to install the OP drivers.
I don't even know where to begin or how to reply to what you just said @redpoint73. I haven't attempted to use adb/fastboot commands since yesterday, so i have no idea as to rather it will work or not. If you have teamviewer, I can give your access to a backdoor to show you as it's easier to show then explain. Have you ever noticed when you download a zip from here: http://downloads.oneplus.net/devices/oneplus-3t/#title-section
it never saves the file as Open Beta 3, 4, or etc. It saves the file as this long-named file.zip rather than being something easy to understand. Im able to understand it now, but a few moments ago I wasnt. I "have" downloaded the OP3T drivers on multiple occasions with no success to to fastboot only adb. My computer recognizes the device though. When I go into device manager checking things out. I will have an option that says, "portable devices". when you select that option you'll go across through some contextual menus where you wind up seeing MTP. You should see MTP if you successfully installed the OP3T devices, but at the same time you should be able to see an option that says something along the lines of ADB or Android Debug Bridge, vice versa. My computer does not say that and I have no idea where to go from here. I have no logs or anything helping me out, so it's like finding a needle in the haystack. I do know that I have all of the prereq's such as debugging selected from developers options within the phone, device signature turned off through Windows, adb/fastboot installed, OP3T drivers installed - you know the works you usually need in order to get everything working right. What I might end up doing is just reformatting my entire laptop, installing a fresh copy of windows, fresh copy of adb/fastboot and going from there. My bootloader is unlocked and has been since I've owned the device. As of right now I'm on OB5 with stock recovery. Yesterday I tried three times to sideload one of the downloads from this site: http://downloads.oneplus.net/devices/oneplus-3t/#title-section
. However, my phone would end up saying, "installation failed" when Im in sideload mode. I'm thinking that might have something to do with a botched download from the OP3T server.

Fastboot/adb is usually as simple as reinstalling drivers, etc. as opposed to reformat the PC as you were considering. Reinstalling adb/fastboot was a good idea also, as I don't think I would have thought of that (although it makes perfect sense). So good job working it out!
