Of course - details are always better! Here are some screenshots. I just re-installed the system yesterday (from N release 3 to TuPac's Lite 6.0.1 ROM). Charged overnight and listened to a few minutes of music this morning. The rest of the time the phone has been idle.

Looks similar to an issue I had, turned out it was an issue that Google play services was having trouble with system update feature. It started when I switch from stock to Pure Nexus rom the rom, and many others, does something to disable the update button in the settings app but in some cases Google Play Services holds a wakelock for it for some reason or another. The way I fixed it was wiping Google play services and uninstalling its updates and letting it start fresh. Also if you have the app "GasBuddy" installed it causes a bluetooth wakelock, it only shows up in kernel wakelocks as "bluesleep," looking for beacons at gas stations to send you ads.

Thanks for the tip. No Gasbuddy installed. A few weeks back I had FiveStars installed (a purchasing points app) and it caused a huge Bluetooth wakelock. But that was removed a while ago and didn't affect Google Play Services.

looks like its google play services updating itself or something. that happens every once in a while. best thing to do is to leave it alone for a day or two and it should "fix" itself after. but in a day or two, check your battery again just to make sure.

There is an app in the playstore called 'Disable services.
You can disable the services you don't use/need.

In case anyone has this same issue, I think I found the problem and solution. The latest version of Google Play Services causes a massive wakelock on ROMs that are blocking system update checks.
Using the DisableService app I enabled the update service and the wakelock has disappeared.

I've noticed the GPS wakelock using GPS on my N5, my wife's N5X, and a buddy's 6P as well. Did you enable systemupdateservice in only Google Play Services or both GPS and Google Services Framework? Both were disabled for me... Thanks in advance!

Just Google Play Services. I didn't think of looking in GS Framework.

Chromecase app causing Battery Drain?!?

I really like the chromecast so far, but the android app is killing me (well my phone).
Ever since I installed the Chromecast app on my Galaxy S4 My battery life is horrible. When I look at the battery stats Chromcast is always the highest by far (even more than screen). It apparently doesn't matter if I force close it either. I tried reinstalling it and that didn't help either. Unfortunately I can't keep this on my phone! Is anyone else seeing this?
I'm seeing the same thing, but my drain is not coming from the Chromecast app, but rather from Google Services.
If you're rooted you could try Greenify from the Play store, it'll identify background apps(and their memory usage) and you can select & disable them until you actually start it.

Yea its been a problem on the S4, now I turn it off when I can
The app doesn't do anything aside from getting it initially setup to connect to your wifi.
Are you saying its automatically starting up the app even after you've killed it the first time?

Yes, it is very odd. The only other thing I can think of is that the battery status app (stock) is misreporting the app info and something else is killing my battery and chromecast app is being blamed ... I will try to dig around a bit more and see whats going on.
Thanks

[Q] Goole Search (Entries Refresh) wakelock

Since the latest update to Google Search (version 3.1.8.914827) I've noticed that periodically I'd get a very long lasting wakelock. It doesn't seem to cause horrendous battery usage, per se, but it does seem to keep the phone up for a long time, and so I'd notice that battery performs slightly worse than usual.
BBS shows a wakelock caused by EntriesRefresh_wakelock, and under Running App, I'd see an entry for Google Search (EntriesRefreshIntentService).
I'm running stock 4.3 with Sense 5.0 and all that, non-root and not modified in any way.
It may be relevant that while I have Google Now enabled, I disabled location history / location reporting, and I also disable/enable Location Services as needed. GPS is left off.
Does anyone know what this Entries Refresh Intent Service is?
First time I noticed this today. When I went in to Google Now, it wasn't responding so I forced stopped it and that seemed to fix it for me.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm not an HTC One user. Currently using Note II N7100 on CM 10.2. Just found this thread via Google.
Do you also toggle on and off location services as necessary? I'm wondering if the latest version of Search can't handle intermittent location data.

I am also having this problem on my Nexus 7. I had location turned off so I turned it on to see if it will happen again.

i notice this as well on my i337m rogers galaxy s4 android 4.3 TW Goldeneye 13
Same on my Nexus 5. Location disabled, gps off.
Noticed this as well on my note 3. For me as soon as i enable all the location settings the wakelock goes away. If i disable location settings as soon as i access google now once, the wakelock starts.
I am a galaxy s3 owner running ArchiDroid 2.2.4 which is a CyanogenMod 10.2 fork, I did notice this wakelock today, using Wakelock Detector I found this service remained on for 24minutes on a 12.5 hours period, I have just "greenifyed" it and let see what happens, I will keep you posted.
By the way, this issue began after disabling location services on google app.
This is ridiculous! Also don't know where audio mix is coming from.
Phone is a Nexus 5.

Moto X (4.2.2) republic wireless. Same setup
*edit - I found that turning location services on (WIFI/Cell but not GPS) stopped the lock.

Seems like its an issue with Google Now and a lack of Location Services. I have the same issue after setting Location to Device Only (and turning off GPS) - it actually stopped the intermittent wakelocks I was experiencing, but last night my Nexus 5 was awake for several hours straight.
My hypothesis is that wakelocks will end if
A) Google Now is turned off (if Locations services are disabled)
B) Location Services is set to Power Saving (if Location services are enabled)
Same with my note 3
Sent from my DE Note 3
anybody figure out what causes this? nexus 5 here
for now i just disabled google now
Hi to all, same problem here, after disabling google now and disabling all "location" settings from google apps I managed to stop this wakelock.... hope google will fix this .... asap !
I had the same issue, so disabling Google now (opening Google now, settings, toggle it off) has stopped this wakelock for me!
Sucks a bit to turn it off, but I'd rather not have the wakelock than have good now info, I'll just wait for an update/fix.

App Ops not stopping nlpwakelock

Hey everyone,
I had issues with NlpWakelock and NlpCollectorWakelock on viperone 7. So, I decided to use app ops to deny Google play services the wakelock permission. My battery life was great (even though I used device only location), I only got around 5-8% wakelock time (as opposed to ~26%) and seemingly nothing was broken, including push notifications. Until I tried using maps. I couldn't get my location, no matter what I did, including reset app ops. So, I went to 4.4.3 stock, thinking location may have been broken on viper. Location worked, but the nlp wakelocks were back. So, I tried using app ops from play store, and even xposed app ops. Even wakelock terminator couldn't stop the Nlps. I came back to viper 7.0.1 with a fresh flash, and now location is back, but the nlp is too! Using my old settings doesn't help.
Is anyone else having issues with nlp wakelocks? How did you manage to fix them on viper one?
Thanks,
sauprankul

[SOLVED] "Android OS" Battery Drain

Hi guys, so I've been experiencing a massive battery drain coming from Android OS (kernel?)
Does anyone else have this problem? The process takes up nearly half of all battery usage, but GSam shows no large wakelocks.
I have tried reboots and disabling system processes to no avail, help!
EDIT : I just found the solution.
The battery drain was caused by an outdated google play, I was able to fix it by updating google play to the latest version (5.0.38) and then restarting the phone.
The apk can be found on the website APKMirror

I tried doing as you said this morning, but the problem continues to persist.
There is one person with the same issue under the general OTA lollipop thread.
Do you think the moto features may be causing the battery drain?
I have a similar issue on KitKat, Android OS is draining a lot. I'm trying to figure out how to update Google play or Google play services but can't find any updates in play store. Any ideas? Location is off.

the latest version at the time of this post is 5.0.38
just download the apk onto your phone and install it
Thanks - that same one will work for KitKat though?

Google Services Battery use

Hi, is it normal this huge battery use by the Google Services?
Mine has seemed rather high recently too, and I am getting poor screen times.

google play services should be around %3-6. max.
did u try factory reset?
Well, that was too much I guess. Gotta look at your logcat, probably it's stuck doing something.

What should I do?
Edit: I flashed a new MIUI Multi v. 8.0.3.0. So far so good.
Edit: Unfortunately the problem persists. The Battery use of the Google Play service is about 17% so far. Is there any solution?

It is caused by google location services not working properly in MIUI 8. Turn off location in settings or set to device only.

I have the issue even with location off. Same problem exists on 8.1.3.0 stable. I think it depends on WiFi rather than GPS.

After turning location off, restart phone. If it still happens with location off then its a different problem completely.
Turn off Google Location History?
Now I have the same issue with the Google play services on eu Stable 8.6.1. The battery drain is about 22%. How can I track what cause this? Can it be app or phone related? Obviously only few of us have this bug.
