Hi, is it normal this huge battery use by the Google Services?
Mine has seemed rather high recently too, and I am getting poor screen times.

Nope its not seems right.
google play services should be around %3-6. max.
did u try factory reset?
Well, that was too much I guess. Gotta look at your logcat, probably it's stuck doing something.

What should I do?
Edit: I flashed a new MIUI Multi v. 8.0.3.0. So far so good.
Edit: Unfortunately the problem persists. The Battery use of the Google Play service is about 17% so far. Is there any solution?

It is caused by google location services not working properly in MIUI 8. Turn off location in settings or set to device only.

I have the issue even with location off. Same problem exists on 8.1.3.0 stable. I think it depends on WiFi rather than GPS.

After turning location off, restart phone. If it still happens with location off then its a different problem completely.
Turn off Google Location History?
Now I have the same issue with the Google play services on eu Stable 8.6.1. The battery drain is about 22%. How can I track what cause this? Can it be app or phone related? Obviously only few of us have this bug.

Hi guys, so I've been experiencing a massive battery drain coming from Android OS (kernel?)
Does anyone else have this problem? The process takes up nearly half of all battery usage, but GSam shows no large wakelocks.
I have tried reboots and disabling system processes to no avail, help!
EDIT : I just found the solution.
The battery drain was caused by an outdated google play, I was able to fix it by updating google play to the latest version (5.0.38) and then restarting the phone.
The apk can be found on the website APKMirror

I tried doing as you said this morning, but the problem continues to persist.
There is one person with the same issue under the general OTA lollipop thread.
Do you think the moto features may be causing the battery drain?
I have a similar issue on KitKat, Android OS is draining a lot. I'm trying to figure out how to update Google play or Google play services but can't find any updates in play store. Any ideas? Location is off.

you have to google "google play apk"
the latest version at the time of this post is 5.0.38
just download the apk onto your phone and install it
Thanks - that same one will work for KitKat though?

I am on stock 23.2A.1.62 with root, greenify and xpose, stamima mode on.
As you can see in under pics, android OS is on the top of the chart.
Try a lot to find out but still no clue, and is is weird in my google account syncing page?
And something seems to keep my awake all the time!
Please help me to find what is draining my battery? Or is is normal for Z3C?

Looks like a weak mobile network signal could be the cause. Go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > set "Preferred network type" to "GSM only"
I am not saying its your issue, but when I turn google now " voice - ok google detection" and from any screen is on, it just keeps my phone awake 100%. I turn it off and then it updates and comes back on, same issue.
drives me nuts stock everything
Install Wakelock detector by UzumApps.
Perhaps Xposed !
I think it xposed it self that drain battery, an alpha release is unstable.
I tried it i have the same mater, a clean install without xposed and battery is normal
I think you are right, I turn off the voice detection and it seems normal now. Observe a little longer to settle.

Have you tried restarting the phone? My android services battery usage climbs that high every few days and restarting seems to clear it up.

Of course - details are always better! Here are some screenshots. I just re-installed the system yesterday (from N release 3 to TuPac's Lite 6.0.1 ROM). Charged overnight and listened to a few minutes of music this morning. The rest of the time the phone has been idle.

Looks similar to an issue I had, turned out it was an issue that Google play services was having trouble with system update feature. It started when I switch from stock to Pure Nexus rom the rom, and many others, does something to disable the update button in the settings app but in some cases Google Play Services holds a wakelock for it for some reason or another. The way I fixed it was wiping Google play services and uninstalling its updates and letting it start fresh. Also if you have the app "GasBuddy" installed it causes a bluetooth wakelock, it only shows up in kernel wakelocks as "bluesleep," looking for beacons at gas stations to send you ads.

Thanks for the tip. No Gasbuddy installed. A few weeks back I had FiveStars installed (a purchasing points app) and it caused a huge Bluetooth wakelock. But that was removed a while ago and didn't affect Google Play Services.

looks like its google play services updating itself or something. that happens every once in a while. best thing to do is to leave it alone for a day or two and it should "fix" itself after. but in a day or two, check your battery again just to make sure.

There is an app in the playstore called 'Disable services.
You can disable the services you don't use/need.
In case anyone has this same issue, I think I found the problem and solution. The latest version of Google Play Services causes a massive wakelock on ROMs that are blocking system update checks.
Using the DisableService app I enabled the update service and the wakelock has disappeared.

I've noticed the GPS wakelock using GPS on my N5, my wife's N5X, and a buddy's 6P as well. Did you enable systemupdateservice in only Google Play Services or both GPS and Google Services Framework? Both were disabled for me... Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have problems downloading with google play??
The problem happened around 3 days ago. I was trying to download something when it said "connection timed out, please try again after some time". After a few hours still I cannot load google play nor download anything
I have tried all the solutions possible for google play, service and framework ( clear cache, uninstall updates, remove accout, reboot, clear dalvik) but the connection only works in the beginning then after like 2 mins then "connection timed out" again appears.
For sure my internet connection is strong and I'm sure my ISP is not blocking google play because I can access it via web. What's weird is when I use a VPN, google play all of a sudden works flawlessly.. can anyone help me in diagnosing where exactly is the problem?
I have the same exact problem on my galaxy note 8!. My Google play store won't load anything if I'm on Wi-Fi or on cellular Data!!
But with the VPN it works!
I had a similar problems. I got the Samsung Disconnect Pro app when it was free. I installed that then had the same problems. Turned it off and everything was good. After a day turned it on and now working correctly.

Try looking at your power options, it might be sleeping wifi (im presuming it happening on wifi). The VPN thing might solve it cause VPN usually does not sleep wifi properly

It's not something that turns up on the battery saving list, it's a power saving feature
under
Settings-->Connections-->Wi-Fi-->Advanced (top right hand corner menu)
make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to always
if i recall moderate battery saving will switch this off

I had this exact same issue on my note 8. I blame the smart switch app on these issues. I usually always do a fresh install but this time tried to be fancy and tried that. After doing a fresh install and not using any backups my phone is flawless. I know its annoying going that route but trust me it works and you will have peace of mind.

Nothing.
Anyway thanks for the inputs guys, I found the culprit and it has to do with an app I downloaded and installed outside the playstore coz it was not available in my country. Once I uninstalled it the playstore came back to normal.

If you don't mind can you disclose what app was causing you issues, I'm deleting, restarting and clearing my play store memory hoping to solve this issue but no luck so far
ok long shot but try going into
Connections-->Wi-Fi-->Advanced (menu on top right)-->Wi-Fi control history
to see if there are any apps messing with your wi-fi
Thank you... the history is clear there is nothing. But that's probably because I keep restarting the phone. Now the Google play store home page won't even load
I have a Moto G6, Android 8.1, rooted, and I'm having an annoying issue I haven't been able to Google the solution to. When my screen goes to sleep the audio stops almost right away. This is true for both streaming music and downloaded content (podcasts, audiobooks), so I think it's some battery saving setting I can't find rather than network related. Let me know if any of you have solved this issue or have suggestions. Thanks!

Are you using Magisk? If so, try disabling it and listen to audio while the screen is off. If it doesn't stop, it's Magisk.
I had a similar issue on a Pie GSI where the audio would skip while the screen is off. I haven't used Magisk since.
Yeah, I'm using Magisk. Tried uninstalling it but the issue is still happening. After screen goes black audio is fine for about 30s then skips and stops. Not sure what else it could be...

It sounds like what was happening to me with YouTube. Every time my screen would go to sleep, it would start stuttering. I guess it was doze causing it and whitelisting it made it stop. I wonder if switching live display to on would be any different? What magisk modules are you using? I know GMS doze and sysconfig patcher will cause that, because YouTube is a Google app

I seem to have it resolved right now. I've got live display OFF and I exempted my 3 audio apps from battery optimization. I've completely uninstalled Magisk though, so I'm not sure if I'll cause the problem again when I re-root. Maybe I should go back to using SuperSU rather than Magisk (?)
