Hello,
I was trying to create recovery for s5 g906.
Followed different guides and managed to port philz recovery from lollipop to marshmallow. ALL working except read Bugs.
Bugs: Still unable to mount external Sd card to as USB. Still better than nothing.
If anyone can help that will be appreciated.
Thanks you

While trying to get a new ROM I installed CWM recovery and it can't mount the SD card to install update.zip for CWM and the new ROM. The Jelly Bean OS I have installed won't boot (it says that it has unfortunately stopped working) so I can't put anything on my internal memory.
Any ideas?

You need to flash JB with Odin first, if you was on GB. Then you can install custom JB ROM. And you need to repartition SD card if nothing is visible in CWM from it. For that read this thread. You need to use USB Mass storage to mount SD card, and be able to do that.
And if you got JB before instaling ROM, you need to do Factory reset in recovery. Probably that cause that "unfortunately stopped working".
P.S. What CWM you used, temp one? Use stock recovery, and root phone. Than use Frapeti's universal kernel flasher (it is in develeper section of I9070), and flash CoCore 6.2 (unpack it first and use kernel.bin.md5).
It was on Jelly Bean before doing anything. I tried factory reseting multiple times and it didn't work. I'm using CWM recovery 5.8.1.5.
So if I can't get into the OS and recovery doesn't work, what's my first step? Will Odin recognize my phone?
Thanks
Edit: never mind, it just worked. I don't really understand how and thank you for your help.

Use CWM that is integrated in kernel, like CoCore 6.2 kernel. You used temporary CWM?
This never happened to me before.
I tried installing a new KitKat ROM for it, while installing CronMod INT2EXT. So I entered recovery, and I think that I partitioned the internal SD-card which screwed up everything. It all started when it couldn't load the SD when I tried flashing it. Is there any way I could resolve this? I need a answer as fast as possible. Some phone info:
Recovery: CWM 6.0.4.4
Past ROM: Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly
I think that's it. Please answer.

I don't know if theres also an Emmc-Brick-Bug on the i9000, but some i9001's internal sdcards die, so there are special recoverys which use the external sd card as the internal. Does someone know whether this bug affects i9000 too?
So I rooted my daughters samsung SGH-T599N, and installed philz touch and was planning on putting a custom rom on the phone. unfortunately out of habit, I put the rom file, and gapps file on the external SD, booted to recovery.. wiped cache, dalvik and factory reset to install a new rom. Unfortunately this device will not access the external SD card through the recovery, and now the phone just gets stuck with the samsung logo when turned on (so i cant turn debugging on again).... I can't get odin, or any other program to read and connect properly.... and now I'm stuck... I have been searching online for several days now trying to find a solution, but have come up empty. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.. I was even thinking to use adb to transfer files over but have been unsuccessful as of yet ...
sorry to burst your bubble but this exhibit 4g section is for T679 version.

do you have cwm installed? if so you could boot into that and in the advanced menu there's an option called mount usb storage. just make sure your phone is plugged into your computer boot into cwm and then advanced/mount usb storage, then open my computer and your external drive should so up also your internal I believe, so you could transfer your new rom and gapps to a new location of your choice.. though i'm not sure how you'd would do this on odin or other recovery software.
I actually had philz touch cwm installed, but I resolved the problem by flashing back to stock with odin in recovery mode... turns out this device just doesnt read external sd from recovery. adb push didnt work, sideload didnt work..lol . But good ole odin saved my butt again
this thread is a lifesaver---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503550

Hello everyone,
First of all - great to become a part of this community of talented hackers. You guys really make wonders with software on mobile devices.
I have recently tried to flash new unofficial CM12 Lollipop custom ROM from novafusion site on Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-l8190 device.
I've used Odin and proper recovery md5.tar image intended for use with Odin. Also I've installed drivers needed for the operation. I was running it all under Windows 8.1, as this is the only OS that can dual-boot with my Linux OS on a second HDD.
Everything went quite smooth to the step where Lollipop should boot. It did boot for the first time, asked for memory wipe, because internal storage was encrypted in previous version of android Jelly Bean, IIRC, it isi not my device].
I agreed, then device rebooted and since then it is stuck on TWRP screen, no matter how I boot it [vol+, menu and power keys brings device in supposed recovery, but recovery never boots into TWRP menu].
vol-,menu,power key combo works and it brings device into "downloading new firmware" mode properly. However, flashing of any of the firmware listed on novafusion site does not really change anything. I have also tried to flash CWM onto the device, but it goes to the blank screen after showing Samsung logo. "Downloading new firmware" works fine with CWM, too, just as in TWRP case.
Can anyone please suggest any way out here? I think I've done proper research before approaching this operation, but I don't really know what to do now, when the original instruction from the site failed to bring this device to Lollipop.
I tried to contact novafusion/maclaw team, but their mail server is bouncing off all messages.
I'd appreciate all advice.
Thanks in advance,
- marc

reflash TWRP using odin & dl mode.
-if still cant get recovery,
reset thta phone --> means flash full system image, can be found on sammobile or other sites using odin & dl mode. there are plenty of tuts on the net just seach, same way for many samsung models
-> if you get twrp, its goood to make a full format ´,even more when u switch to new rom (like from JB to LP)
so: in TWRP format internal if possible, data (factory reset), cache & system. can make them f2fs btw if using nova's builds.
-install rom & gapps done. happy boting

Thanks a lot, mate! I have flashed stock ROM and device is operational again with the old ROM. Now, I will hack some more to make it work with KitKat or Lolipop, this time correctly.
You guys rock.
UPDATE:
Ok, so I've managed to install CM12.1 onto this device and it works beautifully. The only major hickup is the fact that It is unable to encrypt device's internal storage. Any thoughts on that?
Also, I had to restore stock ROM and DECRYPT THE INTERNAL STORAGE FIRST, then boot into TWRP recovery and do wipe.

I have a somewhat different problem.
Rooted the phone, "installed" TWRP with rashr and now it's stuck in the samsung logo however i start the phone. power button + volume up + home button don't work, just the power button doesn't work, pluging it in the wall or the PC doesn't work and the PC doesn't even see it.
what can i do to fix this problem?
Hi all,
I tried to update from 4.1.2 to 5.1.1. & therefore I rooted my Galaxy and installed PhilZ Touch 4.
The installation of "pa_n7000-5.1-20150628" failed; something with emms Error; the file is on the root of the external SD card
So, I wanted to go back and use/instal my old Kitkat again. BUT I cannot not find it
And when I quit PhilZ Touch 4 ("Power of") the phone restarts in recovery mode with PhilZ Touch 4.
PhilZ Touch 4 runs great, but I do not know how to reinstall Kitkat or another Lollipop (f.e. pa_n7000-5.1-20151004.zip)
Odin is running, but does´t find the handset; no connection to the PC
Does anyone has a quick tip?
and/or
a manual for Odin (Odin3 v3.04)
and/or
a manual for PhilZ Touch 4 (CWM Base Version 6.0.3.1)
Thanks for all answers & pls excuse that a knewbie asks 4 help
OoooKEY
Problem is solved:
1st: I found the "mount" choice and so I could load the new ROM to the internal SD. (pa_n7000-5.1-20151004)
But before I deleted and cleared everything and all
2nd: I could forget ODIN. I had no chance to use it because I still do not know what I had to write in PIT, Bootloader etc
But the 5.1.1. version works
right now, I am trying to restore my backup. Smartswitch does´t work and does not recognizes my handset.
A TIP for Prower Users
Maybe somebody could write a kind of manual for dummies.... what is a root, boot, Pit, Kernel ....
