[5th gen] Bluetooth toggle/quick access - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's there any way to add the bluetooth toggle in the notification tray area? I can't believe is missing...
As an alternative, any chance to add a shortcut to the bluetooth setting screen from the home section?
Cheers

I'd also like to see something like this. Currently running FireOS 5.3.1 with root.

Not with native FireOS. Gravitybox and several other Xposed modules can do it but require root. Same for similar Play Store apps. Best bet is an app that adds device toggles as permanent notifications. Power Toggles worked well on KitKat but dev notes some unresolved issues with Lollipop which FireOS is based on. Good luck.

TBH it didn't even occur to me to look for an app in the store [quietly facepalms]. This isn't obviously a solution to the poor UI design but functionally does exactly what I wanted, so thanks for the direction Davey

I use the app "Notification Toggle". Solved my Bluetooth access needs.

[Q] Reduce size of on-screen buttons?

Just picked up my M8. Coming from an Evo LTE (Jewel), the size of the on-screen buttons is very frustrating. I keep finding myself typing in the wrong place. Tried immersive mode with an Xposed module, but eh.
I haven't seen a ROM yet that includes smaller on-screen buttons, but I know such a thing exists for other devices, so I can only assume it would be available for the M8.
Does this capability exist yet?;
Have you tried an Auto Hide keys app?

I don't think there's a way to make them smaller without a custom ROM or Xposed module. As soon as ROM development kicks off then we should see much more customizability.
Well, I didn't want to hide them completely; just make them take up less space on the screen. The immersive mode module for Xposed hides the buttons (as well as the status bar), but I'm not sure I want things things hidden all the time.

there is an app called "Dimension123" on the play store. There you can edit the height.

Yeah, sorry. It's an Xposed module not an app on play store. You have to be rooted and using Xposes Installer.
I am using Xposed and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Nexus 6 Toggles

Is it possible to add more toggles to the pulldown panel? I'm looking to add the sound, sync, and NFC toggles.
Not without a custom ROM. ?

Not a feature available in stock or custom ROMs yet. Maybe in custom ROMs in the future.

Going to bump this because I too want an nfc toggle (just started using google wallet, so nifty). But I'm really and I mean really surprised no one talks about this or have even tried to implement custom toggles for the quick settings

If you don't want to change Roms only to do that you can also give XPosed Framework a try. I am running the Alpha 2 version at this moment with the Gravitybox module. Gravitybox is out for Lollipop for a week or 2 now. Just checked for you, I can add NFC, Sync and Volume toggles and lots more.
I use Power Toggles with the added bonus that the toggles are reachable from the lock screen.

I use Xposed Alpha 2 with Gravitybox LP and it works great for what you want.

I'm debating on doing this, but should I still do it or just wait for the 5.1 update then do this mod, because I do actually like staying stock this time around

Apart from being being rooted, I have stock.
Updating with official updates is fairly easy, though a bit more work.
It works by downloading the update images from the google nexus website. And following this guide (executing a few commands): http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Check under the header 'Method 2 : (Long, but works always)'. Just make sure you skip the step which flashes userdata.img. This will wipe your userdata which you do not want.
Flashing boot.img will make you lose root, but after you can reapply root for that update and it should all still work.
--- UPDATE ---
Nevermind. XPosed doesn't work on 5.1 yet. Developer said it might take some time. See his statement here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59370883&postcount=5
Just do whatever you like.

What Xposed features do you miss most on 5.0?

First off, let me say that I am overall happy with how rooted 5.0 has been running. The battery life seems fine (at least better than the mess that 4.4.4 was for me), and the phone seems to be running smoother on the whole, though that may or may not just be placebo.
The one reason I was weary of updating was the loss of Xposed functionality. While this has mostly only led to a few minor annoyances (such as the inability to hide specific notifications and toasts), the most annoying loss I've noticed thus far has been the ability to disable the home button screen wake. Now, my phone once again is constantly woken up in my pocket. To avoid music skips and accidental calls, I have had to disable the phone shortcuts and lockscreen notifications. Ideally, I could just disable the screen waking action of the button and avoid a lockscreen altogether, but for now it mostly just adds a lot of unnecessary swiping to my day.
I wouldn't say I regret the upgrade, because the PROs seem to outweigh the CONs. What has your experience been?
I miss App Settings. Being able to set individual DPI for apps was amazing, since I like to use a 380 DPI, and that breaks the camera pretty hard and makes the phone app look pretty wonky.
Amplify was also amazing for my battery, as of right now, my phone battery is being eaten up by some android system process constantly holding a connection to something. I've already disabled a bunch of stuff, but I can't find this rogue app. Wakelock Detector is also not working, not sure if anyone else has this option.
Wanam Xposed was a huge help for fixing a lot of inconveniences with this phone, such as dialog boxes for everything like Airplane Mode and Data. Also, losing a Data notification toggle hurt, and I still wonder why it isn't default.
There is a way to disable home button wake through editing a system file with a root explorer. Google it, if you can't find it I will find the exact file and walk you through it.
Same thing with adding back the data toggle.

I've tried editing the gpio-keys.kl file under system/usr/keylayout, but it doesn't seem to have any effect even after rebooting.
The line in question reads
172 HOME WAKE_DROPPED
I have tried removing parts or the entirety of the line, but the button responds the same either way.
I miss the ability to disable the annoying battery cover and USB cover warnings.

Use Titanium to freeze PopupuiReceiver
The three big ones I've always used - GravityBox, Youtube Ad Free and Amplify.
Battery life isnt terrible on Lollipop, I float around 2.4-2.8%/hr with minimal use but yesterday being out and about I was at 4.5%/hr, amplify helps with that because that stupid ass NlpWakeLock is constantly waking the phone up. Sure I can disable location services but why should I have to lose functions to save battery?!??

Post Root Mods and Enabling Hidden Features

Have a freshly rooted AT&T 5.0.2 s6 using pinpong and wondering what next? Here are a few mods and changes that I've made so far to improve my AT&T S6. (info pulled from various forums and threads, posting things here that are specific to the ATT S6). Have more to add? Post it!
Useful Apps Requiring Root:
Titanium Backup, AdAway (available from Fdroid website), Greenify, Tasker for enablign GPS when opening maps.
Debloater tool (root not required) available in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
FlashFire (needed for flashing roms, custom themes, etc): Download Here
Enabling / Adding Hidden Features:
Quite a few features are available to the ATT S6 by modding features.xml using Wanam's CSC Feature Expert. The steps I list below are using that app. You can download it from playstore, and it requires root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.cscexpert. Below is what i used, but more options are found in this thread, although ATT seems to have many of them already by default: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...uick-guide-enabling-hidden-features-t3087506/
Hide Wifi Notification in Pulldown:
Search configwifi. Click item and delete "ATT"
Enable WiFI Calling: option to enable is under phone settings
Search WifiCall. Click on Item and add: "True"
Enable Call Recording!!: (recordings are found in voice recorder app)
Search configrecord. Click on item and add: "RecordingAllowed"
Mods:
Disable Bootsound:
Go to file folder: System / Media / Audio / UI. Find file "poweron.ogg" and rename it to "poweron.ogg.bak"
Roms:
Scotty's Clean Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...om-cleanrom-1-0-clean-smooth-stable-t3111330/
Xstreolite Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6/general/xtrestolite-rom-att-s6-t3140354
Custom Themes:
Dark Theme (Sweet and does work on ATT): http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-theme-s6e-t3108155/post60726132#post60726132
Still Working On:
Disable headphone / bluetooth volume warning
Remove AT&T text from upper left statusbar
Thanks for the helpful thread!.. I can finally use the GMD gestures app I'd say thats an essential root app for me.
Any word on the xposed framework for lollipop?
edit: WAIT we can use WIFI calling on ATT???

Yes, it seems to work too. You open the phone app, click on 'More' then Settings and the option is at the bottom. Be sure to reboot after you make any changes in the CSC to activate them. No word yet on Xposed, but it's almost not needed. Almost....
PS- That gestures app is pretty sweet.

Yeah its awesome i deleted lazy swipe because with this app you can pop up launchbars for your favorite apps from anywhere with a gesture
I enabled wifi calling and rebooted, but I don't see any indication that it is enabled. Even tried making a call, and it seemed like it was over cell not wifi.
Did you enable it in the phone app settings? It's check box at the bottom .
Yea, that's where I enabled it... But didn't get anything that showed it was making calls over wifi.
Did yours give you some sort of icon? And can u take a screen shot of it?
I'd love to hide the auto brightness bar and show more notifications on the lock screen.

Not that I'm aware of. ALso, haven't been able to figure out whether the wifi calling actually is going over wifi or not.
Bypass Tether Check
I see that Verizon Mods have enabled tethering through the framework, anyone see these options anywhere. Would love to use tethering on my Unlimited.
I would like to know that too but I have wifi router installed and it works. I also would like to know how to get the download Booster to work I tried doing that shortcut deal through Nova and it keeps on going away
Boot Animation
I didn't create this/ don't own it. I apologize if I am stepping on the creator's toes. I have had it for a while but it works with our s6 and removes the white att boot screen, but keeps the samsung part.
MUST FLASH WITH FLASHFIRE.
Silent power on, charging and wireless charging sounds.
Unrar on PC or on andrioid. Replace files (I use Root Explorer) in system/media/audio/ui, and change permissions. Reboot.
Used a rar file so one doesn't think it flashable!
Change permissions to rw - r - r (just copy the permission setting of any of the other, unchanged sounds in that system/media/audio/ui folder).
This is similar to the mod in the op except it replaces the boot sound with a short, 2 second silent sound. I had problems of other sounds playing instead if I just changed to .bak, hence I made these sound files.
I'd love to hide the auto brightness bar and show more notifications on the lock screen.

I have added(and then removed) the quick settings toggle but it doesn't appear to do anything but make an icon appear in the status bar

Question Task Changer/Manager Alternatives?

Coming from Oxygen, there's still a lot of visual stuff I dislike about One UI, though I will say, it's FAR better than the last Samsung I used which ran TouchWiz.
Running Nova and Theme Park to get things looking/running the way I generally prefer.
The one last piece that I really dislike but can't find a complete solution for is the Task Manager. I have Home Up running, but the part that annoys me is the Recent App shortcuts. They appear to be randomly generated, and the icons are horrific and cartoony. I just don't like it.
Is there an alternative or way to just turn the recent app shortcuts off? Screenshot attached for clarity.
Home up, task changer, disable "hide search bar"
Enter recents, three dots menu in search bar, settings, disable "show recommended apps"
Now you can hide search bar again

I actually discovered that RIGHT as I got a notification of your reply.
Big thanks for chiming in.
While I still generally think One UI < Oxygen, with enough tweaks, I can deal.
Question for you OP. How'd you get home up working while using Nova. None of the settings seem to stick when changing task manager using goodlock homeup when move is set to default.

there is a recent update to One UI Home that fixed that issue for me with lawnchair.
if youre not getting it through samsung, you can sideload it from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...rience-home-touchwiz-home-12-1-05-11-release/
you also may or may not have to update home up.

Thanks that worked! Looking clean now. I also hated the suggested apps at the bottom. I use a higher dpi and that was not affected by the dpi change. So it looked even worse on my phone. They looked huge compared to everything else.

Hi there
I was wondering if there is any way to apply the new homeup with the task changer on one ui 2.5 or any other good lock plugins for that matter
Samsung is only updating them for android 11 and was really hoping to get them on my phone
BTW I have a note 9 so no updates for me
