Hi all.
My Mi5 arrived today with MIUI 7.3.2 Global Stable ROM installed. I'd like to unlock bootloader (Xiaomi granted me permissions already) but I am unable to on this ROM.
I need to flash China ROM but "adb reboot edl" just boots me back into ROM.
Am I right in thinking EDL is blocked on 7.3 and newer? How else can I unlock bootloader ?
To rub salt in the wound, opening contact or dialer crashes the app.
Cheers.
After some more fettling I have managed to solve this. I unlocked my bootloader with the 7.3.2 Global ROM.
I factory reset the phone and rebooted. During setup I skipped everything except the Mi account.
Once at the desktop, I rebooted into bootloader and fired up the Mi Unlock tool and this time it worked.
From there I flashed TWRP and Xiaomi.EU ROM.
How did you unlock it on global stable ROM?

My mi 5 pro is on its way. Thanks for the info as I want to run the same ROM and twrp.
Attention!
I had lots of trouble unlocking my bootloader, tried everything, but nothing seemed to work. Finally i managed to get i working.
To unlock bootloader on Global Stable ROM do the following:
Download Latest Global Development ROM (not stable rom). I used the one from here http://en.miui.com/download-299.html
Put the ZIP on the downloaded_rom folder on the sdcard. If folder is missing, create it.
Use the updater app on the phone to flash the zip you downloaded.
Be PATIENT, flashing takes TIME! Once it's done you can boot into fastboot and proceed with unlock tool as usual
The eu rom is awesome!!!!
Thank you!

Yes! This worked for me too. Soooo much easier than trying to flash China dev roms with the various methods that don't work... Thanks a ton.

Hello guys, I really need your help!
I've just spent 5 hours trying to fix my Xiaomi Mi 8 bootloop.
Everything began this morning when I started a common update. After the reboot I got just an infinite bootloop on the white word "MI" that i get every time I turn the phone on.
I bought the phone from China with a Global rom already installed and the bootloader unlocked. I can access fastboot.
Here what I did today, until now:
-I decided to install a TWRP, only the 3.2.3.0 worked after many attemps with other versions.
-From twrp I flashed the last xiaomi eu stable. Result? Bootloop was still there.
-I flashed the last xiaomi eu weekly. Result? Bootloop there.
-I decided to go through Mi Flash.
-I installed the tool and downloaded the last Global Stable for fastboot installation.
-I flashed the global from Mi Flash. Result? Bootloop is here.
I don't really know what to do. Every time i did factory reset from twrp. I tried also to make the factory reset from fastboot command. I tried everything I could find online. No solution, same infinite bootloop.
Any suggestion? Thank you very much
Simone
Did your find a solution? I have the same problem.

Hi, after many attemps I installed the xiaomi.eu!
I could install china stable from mi flash, but I was not satisfied with a lot of Chinese apps. After that I installed again the twrp and I could put the ROM pixel experience. After pixel experience if I am not wrong I tried another twrp (I need to check) with which I could install the Xiaomi EU!!! Now I don't want to update anymore
If you need help I can check the version of the last twrp I have used! I guess it was an anti backroll protection because I could install the last china dev but nothing else, neither from that twrp.
If you need help ask,
Bye bye
is it because of encryption issue? from the first day i use mi8, i always on decrypt.
my step to flash any rom is:
1. flash rom
2. magisk
3. flash dm-verity
never had bootloop issue
flashing dm-verity should fix it.

Hi I have/had the same problem!
- The only rom I got working was the "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8_V10.0.11.0.OEACNFH_v10-8.1." which I stil use.
- I also can get the the official "dipper_global_images_V10.0.2.0.OEAMIFH_20180912.0000.00_8.1_global" rom working but it stil keeps updating to the latest version after a while. If that happends I get the bootloop problem.
So I'm stuck at an android 8.1 .EU rom and I'm scared to update to the latest stable android 9.0 rom because of the bootloops and/or to brick it and to lose al my data again.
So my questions:
1 - do you use the latest stable ROM, (which one) at the moment?
2- how did you install it?
3 - which TWRP did you use to flash the .EU rom?
4 - I use an 8.1 .EU rom. Do you think I can update without losing al data again (my wife will kill me if I have to reinstall again)?
5- Any idea why we have this problem?
I really like to update to android 9.0
I just saw (!) that they released an official version of TWRP for the Mi 8 at https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimi8.html
Thanks in advance!
Hello, I have solved using a different TWRP with which I could install the xiaomi.eu weekly! I tried a lot of twrp until that one worked
Where can I find this twrp version? Anders on which exact version are you on?

Hello! Xiaomi is really against people flashing global on chinese phones - that's why this happened.
Flash twrp to recovery via adb (search up on youtube its easy)
and flash a custom rom - they're better than miui anyway
Also if you use miflash tool in the future DO NOT click lock bootloader because it might brick your device which is a headache.

No you can't if your bootloader is locked.
I think you should talk to xiaomi about this issue directly and ask them whats the best thing to do.
The thing I can think of is to try and flash a chinese rom and get it to work - after that you can apply for unlocking your bootloader again
with the mi unlock tool (you'd have to wait 15 days though - xiaomi has ****ty policy on unlocking BL.
I install china rom, but its not work - miflash: erase boot error. On MI PCSuite China version app downloads global rom files, china files its not works, bad veryfication.
there are already some threads with some possible solutions, but if on the first run when you used the miflash tool and DID NOT UNCLICK lock bootloader than it looks like you fkkd up.
What is fkkd? In mi flash i checked clear and loock and did not work. Erase boot error.

Hi All, it's time i clean up my K20 Pro as i have upgraded to a F2 Pro.
The K20 Pro has MIUI 10.3.17 CN ROM from about 10 months ago, bootloader unlocked, magisk etc.
When trying to miflash it with a MIUI 12.0.5 CN latest fastboot rom in order to get back to factory, the progress bar completes in 1 second, and status is green and success, BUT the phone does not reboot itself. Using miflash 20181115 with clean all option.
After i unplug phone and reboot it manually nothing was flashed - everything is still on there.
Any ideas?
Thought i would try doing factory reset from within the system and at first it appeared to be going thru the reset - however upon reboot, everything remains.
The other things is i have TWRP on it, wondering if i should do anything there?
Looking for assistance on what the correct procedure is...

Hi, how can one flash without miflash? and the miflash no believe is the last version I think.
Would prefer a miflash completely to get rid of TWRP too.
any other ideas why this is happening?

Xiaomi Flash Tool - Official Mi Flash Tool
Download the latest and Official Xiaomi Flash Tool from the Official Xiaomi Flash Tool Website.
xiaomiflashtool.com
try downloading latest flash tool from this website
if not then try flashing without flash tool and u will not be able to retain twrp if u flash fastboot rom by any means.
if flash tool doesn't work then just extract the zip i have attached here and paste all files of fastboot rom folder in this folder and run the flash_all.bat file and it should work if u have all drivers installed.
The newer miflash worked! thank you so much Ezio!
Would you happen to know if there is any way to get Google PlayStore onto a K20 Pro?
I saw some threads on 'just flash it with a global ROM' - which wasn't the case back a year ago when i had last tinkered.

yes i have an Indian k20 pro and i tried miui global rom it works fine except nfc didn't as Indian k20 pro doesn't have nfc hardware.
So yes u can do that if u want but do note that global rom has dialer and contact as well from google and not mi one.
I remember when I treid it a year ago it didn't work. The phone recognise the rom as for non-chinese and said the version was wrong. Are you sure?
Is the process same as fastboot flashing?
Guess of it doesn't work I should be able to fastboot flash it back again?
Thanks, I just found https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...Vaw1k6QstZklCOzbLJO2p_18T&cshid=1607339448068

Yes. I patched my boot.img with magisk, then flashed it using "fastboot flash boot_ab magisk_patched(boot.img file name).omg"
Caveat: I bricked my device like many others after unlocking the bootloader and flashing xiaomi.eu ROM. I had to have a authorized EDL account holder flash a factory ROM (in my case I had a China variant flashed with the Global ROM), after which I flashed xiaomi.eu latest stable ROM and then rooted it.
does google pay still work after root?

And yes, I rooted my device this way although I took the "fastboot flash boot_ab" approach instead of the separate flashing of a and b.

I flashed it separately on the second attempt for 12.5.3. The first time I tried flashing the patched boot.img I was greeted with an error.
Hi! I have the latest xiaomi eu weekly installed (21.6.23) as well as unofficial twrp.
I would like to root the phone with magisk, but I don't understand a few things.
Magisk manager require patching the boot.img file from the zip firmware.
I can not just simply install magisk zip file in twrp to root mi11 ultra?
If not, I understand that I have to patch the boot.img- but do I have to do it every time I want to install update of the latest xiaomi.eu firmware?
The second question is about data.
Am I loosing the data by rooting the device by this method?
EDIT:
Ok, I managed. So those are the steps that I did:
I unpacked the boot.img from the xiaomi.eu firmware in my phone. Then I patched the file, and copy this file to the adb installation folder of my pc.
Later it's easy- usb debugging needs to be active in developer options, then connect your phone by the cable to your pc, accept usb debugging in your phone, start CMD in the adb folder in your pc and write the command:
fastboot flash boot_ab nameofthefilewhatmagiskgenerated.img
then
fastboot reboot
And done, root works. Data are untouched.
I did it easier, boot into twrp and flash magisk.zip done
Also I'm on official EEA firmware, with original stock recovery, so doesn't matter what rom you use. On xiaomi EU you don't even need adb because you already have twrp injected
Is there anything to worry about when you update the phone while having root access?
Is the following order right?
1) update Rom over twrp and delete dalvik&cache
2)flash magisk.zip again
3)boot into system
Right ?
I have the latest EU Rom 12.5.7...
Just take this bat with decrypted Star twrp 3.5.1
unzip and klick Install-Star.bat
fastboot boot star.img are the commands in there

I have the model M1902F1A that had the MIUI V12.0.2 Global ROM and tried to upgrade to V12.5 Global.
Problem is, while the flashing was successful, I learned that my device was not compatible with the MIUI version that I flashed so I can't boot the device. But I didn't notice the "clean all and lock" was activated when I was flashing. Now I can't flash a new ROM because my device is locked, and can't unlock my device because I can't boot to allow in the Mi Account Settings.
I can still access Mi Recovery and Fastboot, but after 6 hours of searching I just couldn't find a solution that worked for me. Does anyone have any ideas?
