SuperSU XBIN mode - SuperSU

Hi.
First of all I´m all new to this world, so please be patient with me.
Last night I installed TWRP and used it to flash the lattest stable zip version of SuperSU.
However, when I open it some options are in grey saying that they are not freatured in XBIN mode
Is there any way to change this?
Thank you for your time

Get Root after Update to Lollipop on T-800 (WIFI)

Here is what I had to do to get ROOT on Lollipop.
-
Upgrade to Lollipop ( I did it the ODIN method but shouldn't matter if you do OTA)
- ODIN Flash CF-AutoRoot from the first thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...34&postcount=1
- Let Device Reboot
- Go to Download Mode Again
- ODIN flash the latest TWRP. http://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxytabs105.html
- Let device reboot.
- Download latest SuperSU here and store it in your device. http://download.chainfire.eu/696/Sup...erSU-v2.46.zip
- Go into Recover by Power+Home+Volume Up.
- Instal the SuperSU zip you downloaded.
You should be good.
Took me a while to get this figured out so just sharing what i found.
If this helped please hit the thanks button.

I can confirm that this process does work. It's the method I went through when I upgraded my Tab S.
Tbh that is a long winded way to achieve something much easier. The Cf-autoroot step was totally unnecessary. It only does what the supersu zip does or twrp does itself.
Just flash TWRP from the first post. It will root your device with the latest binary.

Thanks for the update. Are you going to keep up with every new SU updated binaries and update TWRP every time the binaries are update. That would be great if you are willing to do that. I rather rely on the actual TWRP and SuperSU Developers to give me the zips etc. and flash my self as long winded as that may seem but people can choose.
Twrp is updated more often than the super su binary, but team win never seem to update the binary, so I'll just update it myself with each release. Not only that, each new twrp release has the same problems as mentioned in my original post.
I'm also looking for a way to get MTP working properly as that is the only issue now.
Regarding cf-autoroot. I don't think people realise there is nothing special about how it roots.
It basically does the same thing that twrp does itself or flashing a super su zip.
Cf-autoroot simply installs a modified stock recovery which runs a script to Install root then flashes back stock recovery.
If someone intends to install a custom recovery anyway then there is no point in running cf-autoroot.
Twrp will do exactly the same thing and so does installing a super su zip.
They all accomplish the same thing using a slightly different method.
The only difference will be that chainfire may keep each cf-autroot updated with the latest binary.
The reason chainfire created it is for people who want to stick with stock recovery instead of custom

Just flash twrp, boot into it then hit reboot. Twrp will give you the option to root.
If doesn't then you are already rooted and probably just need to update the super su app.

I did that and I can't boot into twrp, samsung recovery is shown. Looks like it can't rewrite the original recovery. Used your version from 30th March with Odin 10.6.

That's a feature of lollipop. It overwrites with stock recovery. Happens on many devices. You need to boot into recovery immediately after flashing twrp, twrp will then patch it so stock recovery can't replace it.
When flashing uncheck auto reboot in odin. When it finishes flashing hold power + vol down + home. As soon as the screen goes blank hold power +vol up + home to boot into recovery.
Thanks for the information, but now I've flashed your new package root+twrp and it's working great
Thanks again.

Failing to update SuperSU binary on Moto X 2014 XT1092

Hi,
I'am failing to update SU binary. Tried flashing through TWRP, tried normal and scripted variant but it just fails and still shows that i need to update SuperSU binary. I have root because I'am able to allow root access to apps and ADB through developer settings, but I can't manage to get SuperSU working. And if I try to do scripted variant, not normal, then I even get bootloop for some reason. I even tried full wipe and step by step getting SuperSU working but still nothing.
I need to mention that in the logchat after flashing SuperSU zip, in one part it says:
*****Boot image patcher*****
- Finding boot image
--- Boot image: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p33
- Extracting ramdisk
- Decompressing ramdisk
--- Failure, aborting
Maybe there's some indicator of whats wrong ? I don't really know.
More info:
Moto X2 XT1092(latest victara nightly), TWRP(twrp-3.0.2-2-victara.img), tried flashing SuperSU(UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323).
I hope somebody can help,
Thanks.

The hashtag root indicator wont be in status bar when i have my SuperSU working and there are multiple apps not working since my SuperSU is not up (Substratum, layers theme and more)
Are you trying to use layers with cm?
Same problem here. Same cellphone too, I tried to install SuperSU because a lot of apps don't work even garanting root access.

Yes and it doesn't work without SuperSU and substratum too. Clean master power clean doesn't work too. I tried full unroot, then flashed root.boot image and right after that i flashed SuperSU 2.78 zip. No errors in logcat but bootloop after that.
I should have been clearer from the start... CM doesn't support layers/substratum. You have to use their Theme Engine if you want themes.

my experience is very good .ive rooted the phone and flashed also adblock gps is working good internet very fast lte for the price just amazing
After Update Bootloop
After the 7.0 Update, i have an issue. If my Umi Plus is connected to my WLAN AP (with other devices no such error), it is rebooting every 10 seconds. If i turn my Access Point off, it stops rebooting itself and if i turn it on again, it is restarting after 5 seconds over and over again. My mobile carrier internet works fine, without any such errors.
I dont want to use my mobile carrier with limit, but my home wlan.
Anyone has similiar issues? If anyone knows the solution please write it

Does anyone know if root is possible with this beta and / or whether there's a version of TWRP that will work with it?
Thanks,

Root is possible using TWRP 3.0.2 for umi.
I've attached a zip file of the TWRP version below, unzip it and flash using SPT flashtool, you need to untick all the other boxes and just tick the recovery and direct it to where you unpacked the zip file.
I've also attached the Super su i used to root the beta 2 for the umi super. Flash it in TWRP.
Brilliant, thanks for that @Creedo4Life.
Can you remind my poof befuddled brain please - does flashing TWRP / recovery wipe the device? I should know this but can't remember.

No worries. There's no need to wipe anything after you flashed Supersu in TWRP. One of the best things about Nougat 7 is that it use a different file system then Lollipop and Marshmallow, so you will never again sit and wait while the OS optimize apps (sometimes hundreds if you had a lot of apps installed!!) Just reboot after flash and you good to go. The first boot might bootloop once or twice, no need to do anything it will di everything on its own. Enjoy full root mate.

Quick question - I've only flashed recoveries using adb before, how do I point SPFlashTool at the recovery .img file?
Do I replace the recovery.img file inside the UMI ROM folder, with the TWRP .img file?
And then tick 'Recovery' inside SPFlashTool per your instructions?
Thanks,
Steve

That's correct, you browse the img file on the ticket recovery (the only one that should be ticked.) click on "download only" while your phone is switched off and then connect it through the usb. It will then flash TWRP and let you know when its done. Now disconnect your phone and hold in power button and volume up simultaneously. When you see the umi logo let go of the power button but keep holding volume up. When you see the TWRP logo you can let go. The first time you boot into TWRP you need to swipe the bar which will allow modifications, you will only have to do that once, the system will then remember it. Good luck and happy rooting.
Thanks.
Hmm, this is odd though. I managed to get TWRP flashed but whenever I flash that SuperSU and reboot, all my apps complain and keep quitting when I try to launch them. I've been careful to wipe cache after flashing, as usual.
In fact I've rried wiping everything cache, dalvik, - even started again from an entirely factory-wiped device, including data.
Flashed a fresh copy of the Nougat beta ROM, booted up fine. Flashed TWRP, booted up fine but then I reboot to recovery, flash SuperSU and bingo - on my next reboot all the apps starts complainin that they have stopped - even Launcher.
Weird...

That's very odd. I used the exact same supersu myself and never encountered that problem. That version is also compatible with Nougat. Try one of the other versions on https://www.chainfire.eu/

You have full root, you just don't know it.
If you want to edit anything in any system folders you need to change r, rw permissions. I use file explorer for this. Look at the attached SS to understand what I mean.

[Root] Rooting any official MIUI version on Redmi Note 4g

Hi,
I found it on web and i don't really remember from where i got it but its not my work so all credits to whom so ever it may be concerned.
##Please proceed at your own risk, i am note responsible for any damage to your device or any data loss.
Below is a zip file that will root nearly any version of MIUI on Redmi Note 4g.
Tried and tested on miui 7 & 8.
##Need Someone to test on MIUI 6##
Its a superuser flashable zip rooting file for Redmi Note 4g only.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8CWcCKLg4hraUZXMDVLc050TWM/view?usp=drivesdk
**To Root**
Please make a backup of your data before starting to root your device.
Recommended: Do not connect to any internet network such as wifi,gprs,3G/4G...
to avoid update searching issue till the process is over.
1)Download the above rooting .zip file from the above URL and save it into your internal/external SD Card(Recommend in your internal SD Card).
2) Now open Updater App of MIUI and open options.(3 dots in the right at the top)
3) Now choose the option "Choose Update Package". Now the file manager will get open.
4)Locate the .zip file that you downloaded in the file manager and click on it(For MIUI 8: After clicking on the file it gets selected and then click on ok).
5)Wait for the process to get over. Phone will restart and you will see the superuser app installed now.
6)Now open the app and a pop up will come to update su.Click on Ok and in that select Normal/CWM or TWRP as per the recovery you have installed on your device.
7) That's it now your device is successful rooted.
##Note: Its not a native root.
**To UNROOT**
1)Just Open The SuperSU App
2)Click on Settings. Then, click On Full Unroot option.
3)Then Click Continue, and the unrooting will begin.
4)After a reboot, your phone should be clean of the root.

A previous poster said he used TWRP 3.1.0 for the P9 (EVA). I just tried that version, and although it seems to flash ok via fastboot, a boot into recovery does not advance past the "Your device is booting now..." screen. :crying:

Go with the phone in bootloader and through the tool Universal_Fastboot_And_Adb_Tool loads the file that you find in this mega folder: mega:#fm/n5JlDJbT I shared. See that the language is Chinese and English.
You can also install it with command-ADB Fastboot if you back better.

Okay I installed the TWRP from this package and was able to boot into TWRP (3.03) recovery and change the language to english. I tested a nandroid backup and all seems to work fine. I was not able to install phh superuser. The install fails with: "Updater process ended with Error 1". I guess I am missing a crucial step in rooting Nougat on the VIE-L29C636 ROM?
Hello, I too with the new TWRP I managed to back up and restore her, but miss the fact that we can have the rott. I tried to install the various 'SuperSu', 'phh superuser' and not least 'Magisk', not get anything good. Now I left clean, no bootloader unlocked and no TWRP. but its original recovery, waiting for some of the many programmers and modders are able to find a winning combination in order to have the root on our phone. One reason for the only backup I am using the app 'Backup Huawei' already installed it does its job very well, in qunto also saves the settings that we do. See you soon and good navigation and use with this amazing phone.

Thank you for the response. I did use the same TWRP version from the linked site. It's actually v3.0.3. It installs and works fine; to the extent that I was able to successfully complete a nandroid backup in TWRP. However, when I tried to install phh Superuser r2.75 it fails with message "Updater process ended with Error: 1". Is it possible that I needed to uninstall/remove the previous root (SuperSu) that existed before I upgraded from MM to Nougat?
