Hi,
anyone tried to flash TWRP 3.1.0? https://dl.twrp.me/vienna/
Maybe succesfully rooted the P9+ with it?
Regards
Flashed on B360 but still unable to enter TWRP Recovery, just stuck on bootscreen "Your device has been unlocked..."

Any update for successful root ?????
FYI.... I'm on L29C636B362 and have full root, however I'm struggling to exchange the emojis to iOS 10.2 as I can't stand the android ones...
I used the EVA TWRP 3.1.0 and it works fine with the latest phh SuperUser ZIP and binary.

Hello nikjensie, a favor I want to ask if you can post the procedure for granting that you made and the files you've used, because I on a P9 Plus VIE-L09C02334 have failed to have the root conn new TWRP, despite having tried to use latest SuperSu files, from 2.78 to 2.79. Thanks in advance and hope you can help me. See you soon
I hope that you understand their English translation.

No, can you give me the link or if there is any thread on the forums. I did the phone unlocked, loaded the new TWRP and then I tried to load the various SuperSu, with negative results. In fact, failing to have the root are returned to the previous version of Andorid (Marshmallow).

A previous poster said he used TWRP 3.1.0 for the P9 (EVA). I just tried that version, and although it seems to flash ok via fastboot, a boot into recovery does not advance past the "Your device is booting now..." screen. :crying:

Go with the phone in bootloader and through the tool Universal_Fastboot_And_Adb_Tool loads the file that you find in this mega folder: mega:#fm/n5JlDJbT I shared. See that the language is Chinese and English.
You can also install it with command-ADB Fastboot if you back better.

Okay I installed the TWRP from this package and was able to boot into TWRP (3.03) recovery and change the language to english. I tested a nandroid backup and all seems to work fine. I was not able to install phh superuser. The install fails with: "Updater process ended with Error 1". I guess I am missing a crucial step in rooting Nougat on the VIE-L29C636 ROM?
Hello, I too with the new TWRP I managed to back up and restore her, but miss the fact that we can have the rott. I tried to install the various 'SuperSu', 'phh superuser' and not least 'Magisk', not get anything good. Now I left clean, no bootloader unlocked and no TWRP. but its original recovery, waiting for some of the many programmers and modders are able to find a winning combination in order to have the root on our phone. One reason for the only backup I am using the app 'Backup Huawei' already installed it does its job very well, in qunto also saves the settings that we do. See you soon and good navigation and use with this amazing phone.

Thank you for the response. I did use the same TWRP version from the linked site. It's actually v3.0.3. It installs and works fine; to the extent that I was able to successfully complete a nandroid backup in TWRP. However, when I tried to install phh Superuser r2.75 it fails with message "Updater process ended with Error: 1". Is it possible that I needed to uninstall/remove the previous root (SuperSu) that existed before I upgraded from MM to Nougat?

root can be achieved with systemless root. i think the version is 2.79 found in the p9 forums. i rooted my p9+ with the latest nougat earlier today. twrp is now 3.1.0.

Okay, managed to get Nougat and root for my BTV-DL09. Here is a fast forward tutorial how to do that.
I could only root it by using Magisk, Supersu (even the special emui5 ones) did not work for me.
Files:
ROM: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1224/g490/v78425/f1/full/update.zip (BTV-DL09C233B336)
Data: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...full/dualcu/cn/update_data_full_dualcu_cn.zip
TWRP, make sure to use twrp_BTV-DL09_5_greatslon.img : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634750327 (thanks to greatslon)
Root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
I came from version BTV-DL09C100B006, this is how I did it:
Bootloader must be unlocked, custom recovery installed (Do not install the one for EMUI5 yet, it won't boot).
Enter recovery by adb reboot recovery
Wipe, reboot recovery
Flash ROM + Data
Flash Magisk Root
Flash Recovery again (will be overwritten by the udate)
Reboot, Done.
Download playstore / vending APK from APKmirror: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-7-6-08-release/ and transfer it on the device.
There is an app called "Downloads" preinstalled (there is pretty much nothing on the tablet, not even a browser after flashing it), you can use that to open/install the play store APK and get things going.
Please make sure you know what you are doing and you know how to recover from a soft brick. I take no responsibility if anything goes wrong.
The version you should have now is BTV-DL09C233B336 with security update from February included.
Thank you very much, and how to downgrade ?
can someone upload a youtube video showing us the the new EMUI5 on this tablet, and give us an overview about the new features and performance?
Beware that:
1) this is a chinese ROM
2) Nougat version 7.0.0
3) if you don't like the downgrade process is difficult
4) if you want to downgrade have to find another ROM!!!
any idea to downgrade please

You need another ROM, FULL not OTA.
1) extract from the .APP the recovery (both) and boot images
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
2) get a build.prop from the ROM you want to install
3) copy the build.prop in the /system folder, overwriting the original: now the old ROM will unlikely boot!
4) go in fastboot mode and flash recovery, recovery2 and boot images
5) copy the update.app in the dload folder
6) reboot and maintain pressed both volume keys to start recovery
7) if you are lucky the recovery will install the ROM.
Of course you will loose all your data (uhm, not even but... MAKE A BACKUP before!)
If you don't know well how to do ALL this don't even try!
If you have the original european LTE ROM please share it!!!

Hi nicolap8 even I followed the same steps as you suggested with the file links you shared and I am also NRD90M test-keys on my Mediapad BTV-DL09
installing Magisk first time gave me a fail message but second time it works like a charm. thanks
could you help, thanks
Switched to eu rom, updated to nougat.. unlocked bootloader and rooted with magisk
But using magisk caused the fingerprint sensor not to work at all and there is no settings for the FP in the settings menu.
Uninstalled magisk and the fingerprint worked again but obviously I lost root.
Flashing SuperSU didn't work gives an error in twrp no matter what version I try.
Any idea on how to root without compromising the fingerprint sensor?? :/

Hello guys,
today i rooted my Huawei Mate 10 pro and tought i could write a Guide because no one else did atleast i didnt find a usefull Guide
So first of all
it always can happen that your Phone bricks in that case its your own fault.
I take no responsibility for any Damage on your Phone.
At the first Step you have to Download all the things you need (DL Links are on the Bottom of the posts )
So here is what you need: TWRP for the Huawei Mate 10 pro, and the Magisk files (ZIP & APK) and ADB minimal + Windows 10 FIX
Your Bootloader must be unlocked (Very simple just google it)
Your Phone should have at leaste 80% Power
So now that we have Downloaded everything and unlocked the Bootloader we can Finally start.
Hard part ... installing TWRP
At First you have to flash the Recovery for this you have to connect your Phone to the PC and allow the USB Debugging
The you start the ADB Minimal Tool and typ the following command:
ADB reboot Bootloader
after the Phone changed sucessfully into the Botloader you type the next Command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [ Filepath\TWRP.img ]
without the Brackets
after the Files are Transfered you have TWRP already installed
Now to the easyer part ... installing MAGISK and MAGSIK Manager
At first you have to boot into recovery with the following command:
adb reboot recovery
After you ran the command you Phone will be in the TWRP recovery
The next Step is to navigate to the Advanced settings in TWRP and click ADB Sideload
and Swipe right without ticking any Checkbox there.
Now you have to run the next Command
adb sideload [ Filepath\Magisk.zip ]
After the Files are Transfered you just have to restart the phone and get the MAGISK Manager on your
Phone. Don't Download MAGISK from the PlayStore look for it here on XDA.
When you made no Mistakes and I made no mistakes in my Guide your Phone should be rooted if you see
any mistakes i made please tell me so i can correct them
Edit:
Thanks to ante0 for providing the links
Thats all you need.

I tried Installing it and it caused a bootloop.
Today, after i installed the latest OOS 5.0.1 with Android O 8.0, i decided to root my device.
After successfully unlocking the bootloader, i flashed the TWRP Recovery and flashed the SuperSU zip, i was stuck on the 1+ Boot logo. I tried fixing the contents through advanced options of TWRP recovery and still no luck. I also tried wiping my cache, data, dalvik etc...
So far i tried:
Installed stock recovery via fastboot, then adb sideload. My device was recognized when typing ADB Devices but when i tried to adb sideload ota.zip i got the cannot read *...zip* error. Then i tried everything i could find, my devices are installed correctly, i also tried the Large Address Awarness program and still no luck.
Then i flashed TWRP again through fastboot and try to do the same through TWRP's sideload. Still no luck
Then i tried to adb push the ota.zip so i can install it manually through TWRP recovery.. still no luck
I ran out of ideas.... What can i do?
Thanks in advance
First of all, why didn't you make a TWRP backup of the stock ROM before trying to root? This is best practice before trying any mods (root, flashing ROMs) for reasons which are probably now obvious. I'm always surprised at how many folks skip this step.
Maybe you planned ahead of time to use the stock recovery image, if you had to. But since it wasn't on the phone when you need it, you're running into the problem of getting it on there now.

What version TWRP, and what version SuperSU?
Honestly, I would recommend Magisk for root, over SuperSU. I've seen a number of folks have problems with recent version SuperSU on this device. And Magisk has a lot of really cool, useful features. I'm normally not one to recommend one method over another. Especially since SuperSU was so tried and true for so long. But at this point, I see no benefit of using SuperSU, but many benefits to Magisk. And seemingly less problems rooting with Magisk. My recommendation would be current version Magisk, which is v16.0.

First of all, make sure you are using the "full" update zip (which will be >1 GB) and not the partial OTA "patch". You can get the full zip from here (Post #2): https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/official-oxygenos-5-0-1-android-8-0-t3728119
Since you have TWRP installed, boot into TWRP. You should be able to see your internal storage on your computer, just like it's a thumb drive. Just drag/copy and drop the full OTA zip onto the phone's internal storage. Then just flash the zip in TWRP.
The internal storage should be selected to "Mount" in TWRP by default. But if you can't see internal storage on your computer, make sure it's selected in the TWRP "Mount" section.

You can verify by booting to TWRP. It says version number on the splash screen.

I did make a nandroid backup from TWRP i just didnt restore it because i thought it was TWRP’s issue due to dm-variety... my bad but whatever
Yeah i have read about Magisk i just didnt investigate enough to know exactly what it is was so i thought it would be better to go for SuperSU because thats what i used on every android device i has... my bad aswell here
About the full update zip.. i’ll try that because i think i was trying to sidelod the ota patch which was 1.6gb...(but still, is the “cannot read xxx.zip” related with what zip file do i sideload? Whatever ill try it when i get home
And also i have already tried the mount feature of twrp recovery but my device just wouldnt show up on my computer.... I will try again later when i have the time and i will contact you if i need any help(if thats ok ofcourse) ...thanks in advance

TWRP and root shouldn't normally trip DM-verity (make the phone not boot).
I don't think it will hurt anything at this point to restore the backup you made. You're already trying to flash stock recovery, anyway (which is not that different).
If the restore is successful (phone boots to OS), then just flash Magisk and be done with it!

I wouldn't say it's "your bad". Magisk is just a suggestion or recommendation. Some folks have had success with SuperSU. But also seems like a lot more folks than usual, having problems (like no boot) with SuperSU than I'm used to seeing. And as I mentioned, I don't see any benefit of SuperSU (over Magisk) at this point. I was slow to change as well. But after trying Magisk, there has been no going back for me since. So therefore, the suggestion.
You didn't mention what version SuperSU, but 2.82 SR5 is recommended. It's in beta now, so if you used the "stable" 2.82 version, that might be the problem right there.

If it was 1.6GB, than it was the full update (at least one of them). I typed ">1 GB" so any OTA zip for this device greater than 1 GB should be okay. It's the OTA zips that are less than 1 GB that you need to watch out for, as it is not a full update, just a partial "patch" (don't flash on a modded device with TWRP or you will soft brick!).
I don't personally use sideload. While I see the convenience, I find it a bit messy. I've seen folks have problems with sideload, when simply putting the ROM on the phone and flashing with TWRP works fine (so in those cases sideload itself was the point of failure).
Now of course, getting the ROM on the phone is the problem, in your case.

About your issue, use TWRP bluespark 8.61, just to be sure.
Never had issues with this version.

If posting on a thread, related to your issue; it would make sense to actually read the responses in the thread. Since your question is already answered.
In short, you need to use SuperSU 2.82 SR5. The "stable" version 2.82 won't work, and will result in no boot. Or use Magisk 16.0.
If the phone still won't boot after (only) flashing the proper version SuperSU or Magisk; then flash the full stock update file using TWRP. Then flash the right version SuperSU or Magisk.
Just successfully installed Supersu 2.81 (2.81 because the guide I used said it's the most stable version) when my phone rebooted the playstore promted me to update Supersu so. being the clueless noob that I am I updated it. Now it keeps failing when it's trying to update binaries. I can still use supersu and still have root access though. It's just annoying seeing that message to update binaries.
I have the same problem, I've even tried flashing the SuperSU .zip manually using TWRP! It reboots my phone before it finishes the flashing process. Does anyone know how to update it?

Open Supersu, navigate to the settings, scroll down and do a full unroot. Your phone will reboot so make sure you activate twrp before your phone boots fully otherwise you'll have to reinstall twrp again via adb cause your phone will overwrite twrp after it boots.
Download Supersu 2.82 here (the one I have is the no additive version just root) and just flash it with twrp. Done. Easy.

Sorry for late reply, I've tried uninstalling supersu/unrooting but neither did work or help. I finally ended up rebranding my phone to AL10 and installing the Chinese Oreo rom which works great.
Hello,
Some weeks ago I have rooted my P10 with magisk (and twrp as recovery). Now I hot update Infos for new fw B371 (C432). Ota update won't work so I downloaded full Ota with huawei firmware finder. After download phone restarts but no update. It boots to recovery. Do I have to install the update files manually or isn't an update possible.
Thanks

Just flash a stock oreo recovery, and you should be fine.
Use my guide. Tutorial #3 is the right one.

Thanks. So root will be undone with this process? After this I can easily install twrp and magisk again without any problems?
Edit: Testet this, but install of officialupdate.zip failed (put the directory in /cust - boot into TWRP, mount cust and tried to install officialupdate.zip). Install from sdcard won´t work too.
Anyone has a solution to fix this. Removed root but it won't work.
Please post the TWRP log after trying to install officialupdate.zip. I need to know, what's failing so I'm able to help you out.

Okay, I can't figure it out, the log says error in line 141 in my script. I tried this on my phone and there's no such error.
What this script does is quiet simple - it just flashes a modified EMUI recovery, where the file and online check are disabled. So, you can flash the recovery from the archive manually via fastboot with "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk PATH\TO\RECOVERY.IMG".
Then restart and do the update via Settings or FF.
After this you need to reroot, so reinstall TWRP and Magisk / SuperSU.

Update worked only via Firmware Finder. But all is fine now. Reinstalled TWRP and magisk (no data loss) and all is working. Thanks for your help.

Would you mind sharing the steps you took to make it work?
I'm travelling abroad and keep getting the update reminder, and I'm too afraid to get an unusable phone to try anything
