If your bootloader is unlocked, yes, if not, don't yet know of any that actually works.

For one who has a lock bootloader, The only way I know is that u have to downgraduate to a vision which is easy to root and REC, Andriod 4.1 for example. After that u may update to the latest vision by a flashable zip using the CWM, then flash the kernel by flashtool.

True, I actually did that before now that I remember. I just made a deodexed/zipaligned/rooted 4.3 flashable zip ROM out of the latest .199 FTF, but I haven't tested it yet; I haven't seen any other flashable 4.3 ROMs for XTX.

Cool. With mine I first want to see if I can manage to add Philz recovery to the stock kernel which I'm currently using, that way it will be a complete flashable zip file, with recovery and everything.

By any chance is the zip you made deodexed? If it is, does "Settings" force close when you open the sync menu for your Google Account?

Well, I initially flashed the version found here, but after booting it wouldn't detect my Sim Card, so I then flashed my version, and the only problem was what I mentioned in my previous post - Settings would FC every time I'd open the Sync menu for my Google Account.
Every time I flash a ROM I always wipe /system for good measure, but then I tried again with the initial version that wouldn't detect my Sim Card, except this time I didn't wipe /system manually (which supposedly is done by the script anyway, from what can be seen in the updater-script), and now it's working fine, no issues at all.

This Kernel works perfect, but my SD Card is not recognized.
Since the hardware (and software) is mostly the same, is there any chance this could work on the Z4 Tablet (SGP771)? Currently there seems to be no working dedicated kernel for the newest firmware..

I have tried many different Google camera mods but none of them work (Camera stops working). Anyone has a working Google camera mod for the XZ1 (non rooted)
Try this one https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-5-1-018-177624777-release/

what version of camera app and what is your xz1 firmware? none work for me
47.1.A.12.235 is the rom version (i believe i downloaded the french version as that was "closest" to my country)
I have it rooted according to these instructions.
I do not know if the google camera app works with the Locked bootloader. It might.
I unlocked my bootloader even though i could not back-up my ta partitions because i really "need" root access.
The camera app is the one @chivi posted here(apkmirror) i was glad to find a Working google camera app.
Hi.....
Google Camera 5.1.018.177624777 (READ NOTES)
would be the latest version that works, the rest does not work.....:good:

I'm using Xperia XZ1 and firmware 47.2.A.10.62
Anyone tried like this?
https://www.cyanogenmods.org/downloads/camera2-api-enabler-zip-file-download/
It's a single line of code that you can do manually by hand in system properties:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
Afterwards use some of the up to date better more customised ports:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-parrot043/#apk1156
My phone is still locked so I can't try it, by the way there who's a system update this morning (September security patches and other, nothing crucial) 388 MB.
Best regards.
