2 different images for which version? There 14 factory images, don't see 2 different ones for a certain version/update though.. Then there's the N previews.

I guess that answers my question, there is Marshmallow image and an 'N' image....

I'm pretty sure he's referring to MOB30I and MMB30G.
If you search I'm pretty sure there's another thread on this topic already... I don't know the differences, but I think MOB30I is slightly newer and generally the build people recommend.

I ordered two n4 and they arrived one day apart. I notice some interesting differences:
the 1st one came with 1. lower battery, 2. older android 4.2, 3. the color of display is "colder(bluer)"

It might be worth posting some comparison pictures to show people what you mean.

All of those things can be solved by updating it to the same version of android as the other one. They are all created equal, the firmware is just different

What he says is apparently truth, I saw a review someone when also had two n4s, one with and without update and you could see the difference that you describe distinctly, and when the update was performed, they were calibrated to the same levels

i did notice before i updated the first one, it was more saturated. My observation above is based on the same version.

What's 'lower battery'? Do you mean worse battery life, or it shipped with a lower amount of charge already in it?

The screen temp difference is normal. I work with hundreds of iPhones every day and every one of them are a different color.

Hello all,
before open this thread i tried to find similar discussions, but i have not found it.
So, i've a problem as many other Nexus 4 owners: HW_REV. My Nexus 4 has HW_REV 10 but seems that newest stock of Nexus 4 have HW_REV 12, probably the final and definitive HW_REV.
The question now is simple: will Google replaces Nexus 4s with different HW_REV from latest?
I've read many post in many sites, but no one says "yes, it will be officially replaced"!
Thank You and sorry for my english
Re: [HW_REV] Nexus 4 with not definitive HW_rev, will be replaced
If you don't have a legitimate problem i doubt it.

Camera is not very performant, the touchscreen not responding sometimes, display with colors that stretch to yellow....are these problems valid for a replacement?

No. Because replacement will behave exactly the same.

Sounds like you are trying to find problems to get a Rev12...
stop being greedy and be glad you've gotten one at all....let some people who haven't had a chance to order one get it shipped before you strat asking for multiple replacements just because yours isn't new enough for you.
THIS is one of the reasons they are out of stock, people!!! If your RMA can wait, please wait!! You don't need to get a second one as badly as some need a first!

if LG has noticed some problems and if my smartphone is not as it should be, then I do not see why I should not let me change it! LG changed this: camera, rear glass and display! I think that thay make a BRAND NEW Nexus 4, so i want the FINAL Nexus 4 as ALL other users.
No, they will not. Every phone got many different revs, it's not a big deal. If they would recall every nexus for the new rev they would have stopped the sale of the old ones. Get over it, there will most likely be a rev 13 after 12 anyway.

All the problems you have described everyone else has. So you won't get an RMA. Rev_11 was meant to be new stuff and mine has those issues you have listed.

I've read of Nexus 4s users with HW_REV 12 that has not any problem...thay says that photos are best because the different rear glass and a different camera, and the display too seems to be best...someone can confirm that? if that's true, can we all ask for a replacement?

Can you link to articles/posts from people with rev 12? Also don't believe people just saying stuff, demand proof.

I work in electronics. When there are these minor HW revs, its usually a cost reduction on part of the manufacturer. All it means is that they probably took out redundant components. If they made any sort of change that would affect performance, there would most likely be a new part number.
I have an upgrade in April, so I could care less

Fake. It appears several days ago in an Spanish forum and seem to be just bull****.
How does one determine which HW_rev they have? What screen shows this and how do I get there?

isolated supposed to have been delivered in the states the nexus 6 with Kitkat. Whether the stories are true or not I dont know.
Maybe anyone has a Kitkat-Rom for the Nexus 6 ?
greetings, Peter
Nexus 6 was delivered with lollipop. Unless someone does a crazy backwards port, I wouldn't expect the nexus 6 to get kitkat at all

There was an early issue with some Nexus 6's where they came with KitKat and are in a factory test mode. This mostly happened to ATT versions of the phone.

I know people had asked for them to pull the software off the phones but I don't think anyone did and or were able to. I haven't seen anyone mention this issue in over a month.
The phones didn't work at all on KitKat. They would start and go to black screen. They recalled them. No one ended up with a n6 on KitKat that worked.

It hasn't been released too long (It came out on 3rd September according to Wikipedia). Hence the custom roms etc are only just starting to appear...
It's Exynos
I'm looking for 5.1.1 rom is stable and everything work's

Just out of curiosity, why 5.1.1, given that it's considerably less secure than Marshmallow? There is a 6.0.1 MOB30H available with security update of 1st May.
Not trying to persuade you - I'm sure you have a good reason. As I say, just curious...

At this point being more secure on a nexus really is not a big thing. Many people are moving back to pre- material design versions of android.
"being more secure on a nexus really is not a big thing"
I said exactly that in a post a few weeks ago, asking whether the flaws they find in labs actually have any real-world impact, and was mightily down-voted for daring to suggest such a heresy...

Android security really is a joke. As long as it is rooted then security is out the window. People like to think security is a big thing.

The problem is that no one devs for that out dated version anymore. You will be lucky to find even a single rom for it. Maybe an old slim roms.

Slim roms. Its the name of the rom. I cant say everything will work completely and you will also lose many of the things 6.0 brought. Go into the dev section and look for a rom updated about a year and a half ago and that would be 5.1 based
Thanks I did euphoria but incoming calls don't work

just flash the 5.1.1 factory image, then root it. i googled nexus 6 5.1.1 roms, and found a bunch. but i cant say anything about them.

Your issue will most likely be that you will have to revert the bootloader as well as the radio files. If you are on 6.0 you will have to revert these things to work on the 5.1 which will require you flashing the stock rom from google then redoing everything from scratch.
