Not that I heard of any.
You first have to unlock the bootloader (offical way from motorola website) and then flash through twrp supersu..
There are one click root apps but they don't support our device (heard on 5.1 it is but anything on 6.0). You can give a shot to Kingroot.

Excellent!!
Update us how it's going.

Just picked up a new ATT Moto X yesterday and hoping someone figures out how to unlock the Bootloader.
Would it be best to not take any OTA's ( like the camera update OTA ) and any future OTA's ? My thought is that the people working on figuring out an unlock are prob working on the original first ROM since release.
If anyone here is trying to crack the bootloader, are you working mainly with the original ROM ?
Thanks,
J

Yes, I was told the same for my Razr M, then of course, someone figured it out 6-7 months after release.
Never is a term I see crushed so many times by the geniuses on XDA, so I hold out hope !!.... :good:

hi,
I can't post in the developer sections, so a question here:
Has anyone rooted their UK moto X yet? Comes with 4.4.2
the motorola chat said they expect we'll be able to unlock the bootloader but I'm not holding my breath.
But rooting? Yes please!

as of right now there is no root for 4.4.2 so you have to wait and see if someone finds a way to get root
or wait and see if you can unlock your bootloader.

you cannot for the love of you phone flash back to 4.4 , there is an line people who have bricked there device going back to 4.4 in both moto g 1st gen and here in second gen.
I regret to announce i am one of them from moto g 1st gen , still waiting for blank file to review my device !
Thread in the wrong section. There's a Question and Answers section within this sub-forum. Read the rules and use your common sense. But to answer to your question, yes, you can go back to KK by flashing stock with mfastboot, I've done it multiple times in the past coming from Lollipop.

I actually downgraded from android 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 just flashing the microcat rom and do a clean install

Hi i hope someone can help me i would like to go back to stock Kitkat after being on CM12 lollipop for a while but i am unsure iff i have downloaded the correct stock rom. Could someone please have a look and let me know iff i have downloaded the correct Rom. This is the rom i downloaded XT1052_RETAIL-EU_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml. Before i flashed cm12 i was running Kitkat 4.4.4 and i am in the UK. I intend to do this procedure using Rsdlite.
Make sure you dont downgrade... put your phone in fastboot mode and check the bootloader version of your phone and let me know... AFAIK you Will be ok with the firmware you downloaded... Just take more precautions before flashing through rsd.. REMEMBER NEVER DOWNGRADE or else you will be hard bricked... As long as you dont downgrade and your firmware version matches your carrier you are good to go...

Ok i think you are all ready and set up to flash the stock firmware, again make sure that your phone is XT1052. And then go ahead and flash that stock firmware... And dont forget to edit the XML file and remove the lines that have "getvar'" written in them.. Save the xml file and flash through rsd.. again take precaution of the Boot loader you dont want to downgrade!
Here is a little heads up or info of boot loader's according to the firmwares for you :
30.70: original 4.2.2
30.71: 4.2.2 camera update
30.B2: 4.4
30.B4: 4.4.2
30.B7: 4.4.4
The order that I've written above is: (Bootolader: Android Version)
So you are on 30.B7 bootloader right now so you can flash 4.4.4 easily... But DONT EVER TRY TO FLASH BELOW 4.4.4...
Good luck mate...

IF the original motorola back is on the phone, there is some very fine/small print at the bottom of the back. It will have the FCC ID, Model number, etc. It could be hard to see, you might have to tilt/twist the phone so the light shines off it just right, or use a magnifying glass if you're my age.

Im surprised i think you should at least be on 4.4.4 by now but perhaps its a carrier restriction. The reason i want lollipop update is because i am now wanting to sell the phone and it will demand a slightly higher value being on the latest software.

the official android lollipop update for the Moto X (2013) hasn't been released world wide... I am familiar with this issue it used to happen to me too sometimes. CM12 is very good but i think because their is not a stable release yet their are still some little glitches. Otherwise most of the time it works really well and very customisable. Iff i wasnt going to sell my phone i would have definetly stayed with cm12 their doing a great job.

Come on mate, everyone wants to know.
I dont see a point in flashing a custom ROM on a Moto, its almost stock and a lot better than the unstable nightlys.
Also its pretty crazy after Motorola started killing the warranty the moment you ask for the bootloader key. My Moto Z died after few months i bought it because of this ****...

Honestly... i only flash a retail rom for delete all the bloatware... but when your OS is slow but the hardware is a beast or the phone don't receive updates anymore... LineageOS is your option...
