Recently I noticed that, while on call, my phones screen not turning off and on, my screen does'nt adjust the brightness levels automatically, my camera app is so slow to start, so I downloaded sensor apps to check sensors, i was shocked to see, none of the sensors are working in that app. Things like gyroscope, gravity, magnet, light, proximity. Nothing is reflected in the app.. What is happening? And how do i get them to be working?
i was running pure nexus rom, then i flashed beanstalk, but failed to install as phone goes in bootloop, so i flashed back pure nexus and realised, none of the sensor is working, i tried everything...flashed to stock several times, but failed to get sensors work again.
anyone else getting the same problem ?
Please guys help me out to get my phones sensors to work again.
Did you use only one app or several? It may be an issue with kernel, maybe a clean flash can solve problem?(if you did not already)
Btw i checked "sensor test" app and it seems everything is working with brand and model name is sensors. I have stock ROM(marshmallow) with hellscore kernel.
Clean flash another ROM. If that doesn't work, backup your data and fastboot flash a factory image to return to absolute bone stock. If it's still not working it's a hardware issue and hopefully you can RMA if within the warranty period.
I gave my nexus 6 to moto service.... They saying.... Display n touch need to replace in order to work sensors..... I can't understand how display n touch linked with sensors....????

Hello..
Really hope someone can help me, as I'm starting to loose my patience
So whenever I take a picture ( have tried with Google Camera, snap camera + open camera) the images get rotates 90 or 180 degrees.
I have tried on 3 roms (stock + root) Sinlessrom (based on google) and a AOSP rom. All same result.
It just suddently started appening like 1 week ago, I did not flash anything, so maybe google updated something through the playstore?
Anyway, REALLY hoping for som help.
Nexus 6 international version.
This happened to me also, it is a Hardware Defect. Your gyroscope in your phone is broken, and your phone's warranty will allow you to get a free replacement.

Damn, is this really the only possible solution?
The weird thing is, whenever I reset my device it works for maybe 5 mins undtil all updates are downloaded, then its wrong again. Same if I downgrade google camera from 2.5.x to 2.4.x it then works for like 10 mins. No idea what is going on
Ok, the rear camera doesn't open. I can't switch to it in the camera app or snapchat etc. Flash doesn't work either, and if I do the "V" gesture for flash when the phone is locked, it restarts. I have:
* Cleared cache/data
* Disabled and re-enabled the app.
* Dirty flashed OOS 4.1.7 multiple times and have also flashed Franko's Kernel which I normally use (currently running stock kernel though).
* Google camera app multiple times. (had this before too, then I deleted it after this camera problem arose)
Not sure if relevant but TWRP has been giving me some error I haven't been able to fix for some time, and can't delete the file that it says it can't open (through twrp itself or cmd+adb) . Relevant SS attached.
Thanks.
You may want to try to flash the phone using the unbrick tutorial. Make sure you have a backup of internal memory
Hmm, I haven't tried that. I just did a clean install with no success. I deleted everything except USB OTG from TWRP. This has become much harder to fix than it should be . I didn't even do anything to set it off, I was in snapchat and took a pic and then it stopped and the rear camera/flash haven't worked since.
Just to update, I just tried a clean install of NLOS Lineage OS and the rear camera/flash still didn't work. Also, if I try to take any type of video with front camera the phone says "Low memory, adjust the picture resolution or delete some files" even though there's only 3.3 GB of space used.
Also, after a clean flash and wipe of everything the error reported by TWRP no longer exists. So that wasn't what was causing the problem.
Just used the unbrick tutorial. It worked perfectly however the problem still persists and remains unchanged. Anyone have any other ideas?
After some deep diving through forums I decided to use the phone's inbuilt hardware tests, in particular *#808#, as the camera test given by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* doesn't work. Firstly, the flash works through the hardware test (although quick settings still doesn't). The "foolproof camera test" gives BackCamera PASS and FrontCamera Fail. This makes sense as when I go to the individual tests the "backcamera" shows the front camera image, while the "frontcamera" just says "cannot open camera". The PDAF/Cam_EEPROM info test says "FAIL Qualcomm", which I believe is the camera firmware not working. The storage test says "sdcard is unavailable" which I assume is why the camera isn't allowing me to record any video through the selfie camera and says "Low memory".
In summary, how do I fix the camera firmware problem and the sd card error?
RMA your phone, hardware fault.
Ok Thanks.
So there is no way to update/fix the firmware problem?

No.
P.S. "Thanks" button is for thanking, by the way. Use it in the future on this forum, whenever somebody helps you.
Im having the same problem on my one plus 3...did u find any solutions??? if yes plz lemme know.
I haven't found a solution.i replaced both The front and back camera and even played with old/new cameras in different configuration (old front + new back / new front+old back / no front + new or old back and so on) varying the result from "Back camera pass/Front camera fail to both Fail ) .the funny thing Is that if you just remove back camera and do the diagnostic menu *#808# > foolproof camera test it still says back camera pass
I have the same problem... And my camera before of this beta worked awesome... Beta 24 **** our phones...
Experiencing the same problem with the front (away) facing camera and the flashlight.
Same Problem for me since the latest official Beta. Ich tried resetting and reflashing the Phone with the last official stable rom. Did not help.
I think I solved this. I let the phone cool down then i powered it off. I let it cool down a bit again and then booted it back up. The camera and FL work.
It seems that this happends when the phone gets heated, at least in my case.
I have the same problem, camera was working fine yesterday. Foolproof camera test shows front camera fail. But the front camera works
I have Note8. It has a very strange sensors error, as below:
- All sensors, from proximity sensor, light sensor, to GPS, iris scanner, and all the other sensors do not work at all.
- In the app like Phone INFO Samsung, CPU-Z or AIDA64, in the Sensors section, all sensors do not work.
- The Auto Brightness function does not work (due to the light sensor), the brightness of the AOD screen is also not adjustable.
- When making a phone call and move the phone close to the ear, the screen does not turn off due to proximity sensor.
- Auto Rotation function is not working (due to rotation sensor).
- Google Maps shows inaccurate location. Other apps that rely on GPS (such as the speedometer app) are completely not working.
- The iris scanner function does not work either.
It was about two weeks ago. I've Wiped the cache, restart the phone but does not make sense.
Yesterday it suddenly returned to normal, I don't know why.
But today - while I'm typing this post - all sensors suddenly do not work again.
Any idea about the error and how to fix it?
Thank you guys
Best advice I can think of is to factory reset and see if that alleviates the problem.
If you did not do anything firmware-related, or you did not drop or submeged your device, the best you can do is to make a warranty claim, pure and simple, if you have no way to make such claim, well, next time you should consider getting a device from an official source
I've read other users have had same problem. Ones I read said it was motherboard issue had to have sammy replace it.
Thank you guys
There is also built-in sensor test. Open dialer and dial *#0*#
I noticed a problem when I was playing Asphalt (racing game on me Note 8). I am unable to use the Tilt controls to move the scar.
Testing out the Sensors using *#0*# at the dialer revealed that all the SENSORS was faulty.
I reset the whole phone just now. The issue is still there with the sensor. As expected Auto rotation doesn't work.
Running the latest version 8.0.
I recently changed my motherboard (under warranty) 3 months back cos something was faulty. Seems it may be another motherboard issue.
Anyone else in this thread solved the issue?
Hey everyone I'm facing the same problem. All sensors stoped working but they were working before on 7.1.1 and i updated my device to oreo and realized all sensors stoped
Then i got another updated for about 900mb i thought maybe this update will fix them and also that update said tha after updating the user cannot downgrade to nougat but after updating the problem still exsist. Please if anyone can help i also try to flash same oreo firmware with odin but doesn't fixed the sensors
I compiled and installed AOSP (Android Pie) from Sonys Open Devices page and it's running pretty well except for the following:
-) "Secure Startup" Option is broken - It kinda works but when you type in an incorrect PIN code the phone tells me that the code I entered was correct but that my data is corrupt and that I need to reset my phone. After a few restart attempts it then proceeds to work. Anyhow not working well and one little wrong click and the phone does a factory reset.
-) Fingerprint sensor - Works 90% of the time however if you "provoke" the phone by using a non-registered fingerprint a couple of times, turning the phone off and on, etc... Cannot say exactly what causes it - The phone reboots. Now this is not so bad, except that natural phone usage causes this once or twice a day - Random reboots through the fingerprint sensor. If I have no fingerprint registered the phone never reboots and all is good. So something is amiss here.
-) Bluetooth tends to fail somehow - It works and then after some random time people cannot understand me when I'm talking to them on the phone via my bluetooth headset
I've tested this with older pre-compiled version of AOSP Pie and the issues are the same. The issues are also present for the F8131 an F8132 model of this phone.
I'm really trying hard to fall in love with my Xperia X Performance but it's quite a struggle. The stock ROM does not allow RAW capture, hence I cannot install any version of GCAM that works. The Sony camera app produces mediocre pictures. Also the torch is very dim. Two things that really annoy me.
AOSP seems promising except for the issues listed above. Did anyone experience the same issues and possibly find a fix? If yes, please share. That would be awesome.
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
Almost all sensors stoped working after few days on my brand new Pixel 5 :
Failing sensors :
- Proximity sensor
- Accelerometer
- Gyroscope
- Compas
And maybe others I don't know of...
Fingerprint & cameras are still working.
I've contacted Google support, and they advise me to clean my screen :-/
I'll try a factory reset today before asking for a replacement unit, but my hope is low...
Anyone facing the same issue ?
Any advise ?
Edit :
After a factory reset : same situation
Same here. Had phone for about ten days. All seemed to work. Then thinks went weird over several days. First thing I noticed when going to hang up a call I was no longer presented with phone dialler screen. During calls phone was also spontaneously switching to handsfree. I suspect this was wall tilt related. Then camera images were in incorrect orientation. Google photos not longer rotating images and so on. Installed a sensor app and it reported gyroscope as missing. Clean booted - no change. Factory Reset and still no change. Arranged for an exchange with Google. While waiting for that to pan out, after about a day the gyroscope has come back to life. Although presently reporting no compass. Doe the P5 have a compass?
Anyhow given it working again now I am wondering if some power saving activity is killing the Gyroscope? Waht was the out come with your sensor failure. Did they recover or did you need to exchange?

I tried a random app from the store : Sensor Test with my bad unit and it reported 0 sensor !
I've exchanged my P5 and now the same app reports 30 sensors.
While waiting for the exchange , mine never came back to life : can't rotate, screen stayed on during calls (and auto brightness not working), compass was not working in Maps...
Also on the faulty unit I noticed that the OTA update tooks ages (30 minutes or so, for a ~30MB update). On the new unit, the same uptate took just a normal reboot time.
Thankyou for the update.
While mine has a working gyroscope (at the moment) the proximity sensor is still borked and the screen stays on during calls. I just installed the Sensor Test app and it says I have 16 sensors!
30 for me

30 sensors also for me.
Oh my god yes exactly this happened to my phone since yesterday. No auto rotation, no auto brightness, no tap2wake.
I have to send mine back, I hate it. Sensor app does not recognize a single sensor. Factory reset didn't help either
When rebooting like 10 times it changes between 0, 1 and 16 sensors.
I factory reset my phone again and that made it worse. Has gone from 16 to 0 on Sensors Test!
Has lost screen rotation again.

At this point, you should contact Google Support and ask for an exchange.
Like my old one, I doubt this is a software issue...
I hope my new one does not have this flaw.... but this definitely hurt my confidence in P5 devices....
Sounds like issue with corrupt persist partition caused by update gone wrong.

Indeed ! I didn't know about this.
But it seems that the solution is to root the device, and this void the warranty (Google asked me if it was rooted before the exchange).
Weird. It did not happen to mine right after an update, more like 20 days later. Btw Google did not ask me if I rooted the device, which I haven't, but I did unlock the Bootloader for a short period of time to use the android flash tool from Google.
I'm not very familiar with partitions on android but all I can say is that a newly flashed stock firmware from Google itself did not help me
All my sensors work according to that app - it shows 30 sensors every time I launch it - except the proximity sensor sometimes does not actually work right. I was noticing an issue because KinScreen would think my proximity sensor was covered and would turn the screen off because the proximity sensor looked to be covered when it was not, even though the app should have kept the screen on. I downloaded multiple sensor testing apps and the proximity sensor works most of the time but sometimes it does not. Weird. Not sure if I should exchange the phone, I got this with AT&T.

Took a couple of weeks, but I now have a replacement unit. 30 sensors showing and all working properly now. I took it for granted how reliant these devices are on having sensors working for basic things like the phone to work properly. Glad I found this thread and was able to get it sorted out. thanks for the help.
I had to get a replacement PIxel 5 through AT&T for the broken proximity sensor. This one works fine.
Couple of weeks?
I got a new device within 4 days where 3 days were for shipping
Just out of curiosity, am I the only one Google asked if I have rooted my device before sending it back ?
They asked me 5 questions for the warranty (I live in France/EU btw):
- Has the device been impacted, or is the screen damaged?
- Has the device come into contact with liquid?
- Has the device been in contact with a heat source?
- Has the device been rooted?
- Has the device been repaired by unauthorized personnel?

I started an RMA process on their website and no I'm not 100% sure about the other stuff but I'm sure they didn't ask if I was rooted.
Germany
I see where Google announced that a fix in the December update could possibly fix the sensor issue for some. I'm guessing you guys got the update and it didn't work huh.
idk I got a new device in december
